Bold 9700 Memopad files lost?

Hey everyone,
I've been searching the forums to try to find a solution for this and while some people have had similar issues, they are slightly different than mine.
I took a bunch of notes on my Bold 9700 memopad between 2011-12 and synced them with my computer which was a 2010 model Macbook Pro. Once I had synced the notes, I never could find them on my computer at that time. I tried to look in the Apple Mail app and found nothing. I had transferred them using the Blackberry Desktop Manager.
Then that computer began to die, so I transferred all information off of it onto my external hard drive. I still have all of the files from that computer. Now I use a new Macbook Air. But I am still unable to find the location of those memopad files. I could never find them on the previous computer, and still cannot find them.
Does anyone have any idea of what folder they may be in? And if so, how I can view them on my Macbook Air?
Thanks so much!
Jake

hi again !
this is what probably happened :
when you installed OS6, at some point you were supposed to check the applications you wanted to be installed back. It seems that BlackBerry Maps was not checked.
so I will ask you to connect your device to your computer, run the loader.exe application (use Windows Explorer to search for it), and reinstall the BlackBerry Maps application, as well as any other application you wish that appears in the list.
please keep me posted, Sabrina31523.

  • Unable to Import Unicode (csv) file to BlackBerry Bold 9700

    Hi all
I'm facing some problems with my new BlackBerry Bold 9700. I have Nokia mobile, I exported my contacts using PC-Suite 7. The exported file includes Arabic characters, so the charset used was in Unicode. I've changed the heading for important fields (and removed others) so that they will match with BlackBerry. I imported the file with "BlackBerry Desktop Manager" using "Synchronize" feature. The import was successful, but the charset was  in wrong format (just like viewing html page with different codepage!) it was like garbage!
Anyhow, I tried to export, as an example, one contact from my BB and I included Arabic text, when I exported the contact list as (csv) I received a "?????"!!! I then imported the same file with "Synchronize" and strangly it did import and accepted the "?????" and displayed the actual Arabic text as a substitution.
How come BB don't support Unicode?! Is there anyway I can import my contacts from Nokia?
I appreciate any kind of help, hints or tips, thanks in advance...

I guess, the only option that can help in such situation is to use Outlook Express!
This is how I managed to do it:
    1. Sync between Nokia PC-Suite and Outlook Express
    2. Sync between BB Desktop Manager and Outlook Express
    3. Done
    or
    1. Sync between Nokia PC-Suite and Outlook Express
    2. Export from Outlook Express as an address book (WAP) to use it on other machine
    3. Import to Outlook Express (you can use Address Book from Accessories)
    4. Sync between BB Desktop Manager and Outlook Express
    5. Done

  • Bold 9700 Screen broke, can I still connect?

The screen on my Bold 9700 is broke - it lights up but there is no graphic.  The software appears to be fine because if I power the phone up and type in the password (blind of course) I can still ring the phone and answer calls as normal.  Now, obviously I need my screen repairing but before I put it into the service centre I want to back up all of my data
Tonight I installed the desktop software successfully but I am unable to connect.  when I plug the USB cable in it does make a noise suggesting the application knows there is something there but as I can't see the screen I have no idea if I have to accept anything on the handset itself.
Can anybody suggest a solution to this or am I gonna have to accept that my photos, non-sim contacts and files will be lost forever?
Any help is very much appreciated, Ross

Hello cachluli and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
You might want to try doing a thorough removal of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
KB02206 will walk you through the process.
Thanks and have a great day!

  • Why can't I get 0S6 on Bold 9700 (Orange)?

First post so sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere....
I live in England and have a Blackberry Bold 9700 on Orange. For months now I've had the desktop software version 6 and have recently installed an update for it of 6.1; yet it always says there is no update available for software on my phone. However, when I took my phone in for repair they updated it to 0S6, so did they use a leaked version then? The reason I ask is because that phone eventually got replaced with the same make and model but came with the older software, and I miss OS6 but am wary of downloading a leaked version.
So was just looking for some advice really - will Orange be releasing 0S6 for Bold 9700 or will I have to get a leaked version and if so how do I do this, hopefully without causing any problems to my phone?
    Any help is much appreciated.

    Hello,
From a PC, you can install any OS package to a BB via this procedure (which includes a link only to official OS versions):
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. You can even use a different carriers OS package by simply inserting, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion, on your PC, of a file named VENDOR.XML. Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:
KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software

  • Bold 9700 OS 6 update

I have a Bold 9700 and am on Virgin Mobile but have not yet been able to receive OS 6. Is there any way I can legally access the new software which will work in the UK and not brake my phone? Thanks.

Charli, Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Community Support Forums.
Yes, you can upgrade to OS6, legally, and without breaking your 9700.
Device operating system releases are "released" by specific carriers once they have certified and trained their support techs, but still, you are able to load to any carrier's same model by following the instructions below.
Some users might worry they will void their device warranty by loading an OS from another carrier. There is really nothing to worry about. Please read more information on that here:  http://www.port3101.org/power-users/296-blackberry-os-upgrade-including-betas-myths-dispelled.html
Here are the instructions and the  download link.
Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.
    1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    http://www.avea.com.tr/Blackberry/Release6_0/OS/9700M_PBr6.0.0_rel2554_PL6.6.0.216_A6.0.0.576.exe
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

  • BlackBerry Bold 9700: Bluetooth assistant

    Hello,
I have the BlackBerry Bold 9700.
I want to send files and receive files via bluetooth?
    How to do that?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
    See this KB:
KB05409 Transfer a file using Bluetooth technology between two BlackBerry smartphones
If the other device is not a BB, then substitute, in the KB, the appropriate instructions for your other device in place of the KB section for the sending or receiving device. If the receiving device is a BB, then do not skip the "Receive Using BT" step on the receiving BB...nothing will transfer if you do.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Os 6 in bold 9700

Anybody knows when it be available the os 6 for the blackberry bold 9700?
    Thanks

    Here is the official version.
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=15CF76466B97264765356FCC56D801D1
Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 9700:
    1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

  • Os 6 for Bold 9700

Hi, will have to admit to being a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to technology but here goes...
I've had my Bold 9700 for nearly a year now and today decided to dowload both Desktop Manager to back up my Blackberry but more importantly, haha, I quite fancied the new Os 6 that I had seen.
I spent over an hour this afternoon doing this and I thought it went quite well...Desktop loaded and then tried the os6 and it appeared to go through ok...it told me I could now disconnect and away you go!!
After rebooting the phone there was no difference to the appearence and after checking 'About' it looks like it's still holding version 5.
I've gone back into Desktop and OS6 isn't there as an option to download.
    Where did it go wrong??
I'm on Orange, if that's needed.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

Apparently you didn't install OS6 to the device, although it might have appeared so.
If you still want to, follow the directions here, see the link below, for the download and simple installation instructions.
First locate your carrier and the OS file you wish to use.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.
    1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."

  • Address Book Backup from Curve to Bold 9700

    Hi,
I just upgraded from my elderly Curve to a Bold 9700 and tried to restore everything which I had backed up from the Curve to the new handset. Everything restored to the new phone except what I wanted most which was my address book. It had backed up ok onto my desktop but when I tried to restore the address book, it said the following words:
"Databases that are unavailable in the list have been configured for wireless synchronisation or wireless backup and are read only. You cannot restore them".
Well as you can imagine, I am tearing my hair out!! Does anyone have any suggestions - preferably ones that don't involve self-harm!!
    Thanks and regards,

    HI John,
So you've tried emptying the Safari cache cleared cookies???
According to that link they are referring to *an older version of Safari (3).*
Go back to that page, scroll down and click No. You can at least provide feedback.
Since you are running Snow Leopard, try opening Safari in 32-bit mode.
Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode.
Relaunch Safari. See if that makes a difference.
