  • Blackberry Bold 9900 stuck on boot screen

    Hello,
My BB Bold 9900 has been stuck on the boot screen for a long time now - each time i re-insert the battery or conect to a power supply the the boot screen comes up starts to load and then stops just above the 'bavck' button and then stays like that fior ever untl i unplg or take the battery out.
I have put in new batteries but it still does the same, it has been left of for a while due to being out the counrty and when i came back to turn it on the above keeps happeneing.
I have conected it to the BlackberryDesktop manager with out battery and i get a pop up asking to 'repair' 'updater' or 'cance' . when i select repair it wount do anything and update starts and then ask me to update software etc and each time i select the update it comes back with an error and im unable to do so anymore.
    Please help somebody.

This process will erase all data in your phone memory. Via JSanders.
    1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
    "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
    3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
    4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
    5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.
BlackBerry Device Operating System downloads: http://www.blackberryforums.com/blackberry-device-specific/
Just select the appropriate device model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.
IF the above does not work or help, You will need to use JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:
    Download JL_Cmder http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-software/18789-jl_cmder.html
    or download BBSAK http://bbsak.org/download.php
If JL_Cmder does not work, you can try this:
    KB10144, http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB10144
    and this: KB20371 http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB20371

  • Reload Software 507 - stuck at connecting to boot rom

    1. My Curve 8900 (Orange Unlocked) had an app error 523 and didnt load, so I wiped it with BBSAK.
    2. After that, my phone starts and shows a white screen with an image and below the error message "Reload Software:507" and stays like that.
    3. I have followed every blog and have followed every step, but the OS is not loading on the device and it gets stuck at connecting to boot rom.
    4. When I open the Loader, my PIN number shows without any problem, so I click "next". When I've selected the apps I want to be installed and click "finish", my phone will reboot twice when the PC shows "Connecting to boot ROM" geting a "fatal error message has ocurred [A0x00000001]" on the loader.
I've been stuck at this process for too long and decided to post here for help.
Is there any solution for my device.
    Thanks!

    Hi vatsal
Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forums
You can try JI Cmder to wipe again and then try to load the OS ,But remember you had to click the Next  button on the screen as soon it shows USB PIN : UNKNOWN or else you had to try again :
What to do next if Jl Cmder will not connect and wipe
If that fails then as a last resort you can try this :
KB27956 :  How to recover a BlackBerry smartphone from any state
Please try it and let us know.

Are you able to upgrade via wi-fi? Have you done a patch upgrade before using the same Desktop Software/USB cable/PC? I have never seem this error so I'm trying to pinpoint were exactly the problem could be. I'm suspecting you might have had problems on your previous upgrade or you installed a corrupt application? I'll keep in touch.

  • Yosemite stuck on boot screen - Possible M4 SSD issue

I had OS X Mavericks prior to installing OS X 10.10 Yosemite. I downloaded Yosemite through the App Store on to a mid-2012 Macbook Pro 13 in.
      Model Name:    MacBook Pro
      Model Identifier:    MacBookPro9,2
      Processor Name:    Intel Core i5
      Processor Speed:    2.5 GHz
      Number of Processors:    1
      Total Number of Cores:    2
L2 Cache (per Core):    256 KB
      L3 Cache:    3 MB
      Memory:    Crucial 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
      Boot ROM Version:    MBP91.00D3.B09
      SMC Version (system):    2.2f44
      Sudden Motion Sensor:
      State:    Enabled
The download was fairly quick as I upgraded as soon as the update came out. It took about 30 minutes and then locked up before the next 7 minutes to finish the installation. I have FileVault turned on and would enter the password to login to the drive and my user account. The progress bar would get to 50% and then stop. I waited about 30 minutes the first time and 45 minutes the next. After multiple reboots, the same issue would happen.
I rebooted into OSX recovery system (Option-R during bootup) and was going to reinstall OSX Yosemite. After unlocking the boot drive, entering in my Apple account info, it said it was going to take a few hours to redownload and install. I stopped it 5 minutes into the download and rebooted the Mac using the OSX recovery system exit > reboot method. Luck would have it, I was able to login and complete the install. I updated all the applications to the latest version (outside of the App Store), such as Adobe, Silverlight, etc.., missed this step prior to installed Yosemite. Everything was working fine.
During normal work, I had a lot of applications open from VMware Fusion, Office for Mac, Firefox, and then when I opened Preview, the Mac crashed with the grey screen of death. When I rebooted by holding down the power button for 10 seconds, it would only let me unlock the drive and was stuck loading up to 50% without ever getting past the progress screen for 30 minutes. I went back to OSX Recovery System and performed the reinstall OSX Yosemite and backed out again as I did before thinking it would let me log in. After rebooting it failed to get past 50%. The next reboot I was able to login.
I started thinking about the 256GB M4 SSD Firmware and noticed on the http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/support-ssd-firmware it stated upgrading from 040H (what I was on) to 070H would fix the following issues. Granted it stated for Windows and not Mac, after updating the firmware, I have been shutting down and rebooting without issue (crossing fingers).
The following is a summary of changes between 040H and 070H, which are independent of operating system:
Resolved a power-up timing issue that could result in a drive hang, resulting in an inability to communicate with the host computer. The hang condition would typically occur during power-up or resume from Sleep or Hibernate. Most often, a new power cycle will clear the condition and allow normal operations to continue. The failure mode has only been observed in factory test. The failure mode is believed to have been contained to the factory. This fix is being implemented for all new builds, for all form factors, as a precautionary measure. The fix may be implemented in the field, as desired, to prevent occurrence of this boot-time failure. To date, no known field returns have been shown to be related to this issue. A failure of this type would typically be recoverable by a system reset.
I upgraded the current Mac to a Crucial M4 256GB SSD and moved the stock 750GB hard drive to the cd-rom bay. I was able to install the update to 070H using an bootable USB stick and the method from http://forum.crucial.com/t5/Crucial-SSDs/Updating-firmware-on-Macs-without-a-sup erdrive/td-p/61259. I did have to disconnect the second drive (just lifted the connector to the motherboard) as it would not allow the Firmware update to start with the drive connected.
Seeing if this helps anyone else out with Yosemite locking up during a boot. I did not enable TRIM as I read it can hurt the M4 SSD since it has a garbage collection.
    M4-CT256M4SSD2:

      Removable Media:    No
      Detachable Drive:    No

I rebooted my machine and was back to either getting stuck at 50% or just seeing a black screen. Both times I was using a Kensignton USB 3.0 Multi-Display Adapter as well as the Mini DisplayPort to DVI port. Once I power off (hold 10 second power button), unplug all external monitors, I'm able to boot into the OS.

  • Can't get Facebook App to work on Bold 9700

I have used the Facebook app on my Bold 9700 the past couple of years.  Recently, after an upgrade of the Facebook app, I can no longer get Facebook to work on my phone.  I have installed and uninstalled the app numerous times.  I have done many hard boots by pulling my battery.  Nothing I try seems to work.
When I go to options>applications>add ons it shows that the Facebook app is downloaded onto my phone, but the Facebook application has disappeared from my Applications folder.  If I uninstall Facebook, the Facebook app icon re-appears into the Applications folder.  When I install the app again, it disappears from the Applications folder once again.
If I go to Blackberry World>My World.....Facebook shows as being uninstalled.  If I click on just about anything in My World.....my phone crashes and has to reboot.
Some serious glitch going on.  Is this my phone only or is anyone else having troubles with Facebook and My World after recent upgrades?  Facebook is about the only app I use frequently and I would hate to not be able to use it ever again on my phone.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

  • How can I go back to a previous boot ROM version?

Hi. I've been reading these forums for a long time...first time posting.
The short story: I have a Macbook 5,2 running OS X 10.5 with boot ROM MB52.0088.B06, and I'd like to know how to flash the boot ROM version back to MB52.0088.B05.
    The long story:
I have a MacBook 5,2. It came with OS X 10.5. As far as I know, the latest boot ROM for 10.5 on a Macbook 5,2 is MB52.0088.B05 (EFI 1.4) (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237).
A while ago, a friend convinced me to update to 10.6. Apparently, with the 10.6 install, it updated the boot ROM version to MB52.0088.B06. Now, I'm concerned that there is a firmware issue (which I might be wrong about, and the reason I think there is a firmware problem is very convoluted but I'll explain if you want). So I decided I wanted to go back to MB52.0088.B05. I had been thinking about going back to OS X 10.5 anyway. So, I backed up my system using Time Machine to a Time Capsule via ethernet. Then I did an Erase and Install with the original 10.5 install disc that came with my Macbook. Then, I used Migration Assistant to restore most of my system from the backup. I should have taken a look at the boot ROM version before I ran Migration Assistant...but I didnt.
The boot ROM version still says MB52.0088.B06.
I tried downloading the MB52.0088.B05 update and running it anyway, and it says my computer doesn't need the update. When I was still running 10.6, I did try the method described here: http://pubmem.wordpress.com/2011/04/09/flash-efi-firmware-update-manually-on-a-m acbook-51/ (which has apparently worked for someone else on a 5,2; see https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3747472?start=0&tstart=0), and it didn't work. I don't know if it's a good idea to try it again now.
    So:
Why didn't my boot ROM go back to MB52.0088.B05 after a clean 10.5 install?
Did Migration Assistant import the previous boot ROM somehow?
Should I do another clean install without MA?
Should I try PubMem's manual method again?
Is there another way I can flack back the firmware?
    Thanks a ton!
P.S. I'm posting this in the Time Capsule community as well, since it might be an MA issue. Don't get mad, I'm new. If that's against the rules, I'll take it down.

      Total Number Of Cores: 2
      L2 Cache: 3 MB
      Memory: 2 GB
      Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
      Boot ROM Version: MB52.0088.B06

      System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.8 (9L31a)
      Kernel Version: Darwin 9.8.0

At least you have made some progress. My inkling is the optical drive is dead.
    I think you're right.
To run the AHT you would need the AHT disc that came with the computer, but it's unlikely you have it for that old iBook G4.
I do have it, in fact! But it's not working. Here's the situation, copied from a conversation with Kenichi Watanabe over in iMacs...
I haven't been able to run the Apple Hardware Test. I have the AHT CD that came with the computer (v1.2), and I also downloaded v1.2.6 here and burned that to a CD. In both cases, when I load the CD into the external optical drive which is connected via a firewire cable (exactly what I used for the install disc), restart, and press and hold C, the computer ignores the CD completely and boots from the HD. Any idea how to fix this? Or, is there another function I can use to achieve the same thing, maybe in single user mode?
Regarding the Apple Hardware Test CD, holding down the C key will attempt to boot from the internal optical drive.  Since there is nothing in there, it boots from the internal hard drive.  I would try starting up with the Option key held down.  That should get you to the Startup Manager screen.  If that CD is in the external FireWire drive, it should be listed as a startup disk choice.  Select it and see if it will start up from it.
Right, that makes sense. Unfortunately, in both cases, when I select the CD to start up from, the screen blinks for a second and then returns to the screen where I am supposed to choose a startup disc. It does this as many times as I try to choose the CD, until I select the HD and start up from there.
When I put either CD in the drive, with the computer on and booted from the HD, the CD mounts, and Disk Utility says it's verified. But when I try to select it as a startup disc from system preferences, it doesn't show up. Ideas??
Update: I tried Hoja's reccommendation from this thread using Open Firmware, but in response to
         boot cd:\diags
    It says:
         can't OPEN: cd:\diags
    for both CDs.

you mean you are trying to use Boot Camp Assistant? Boot Camp has become meaningless through over use for too many things.
It doesn't even know bout your EFI frmware, I can say that.
You should though use Lion Boot Camp Assistant and the BC 4.01 drivers for your system.

I recently upgraded my Bold 9700 to new OS i.e. 6.0.0.448 .Overall the Os is perfectly fine, but one day later I found the problem which is a major and serious issue. The network is not working properly. I called up my service provider and they told me that in network connection options there should be 3 options "2G" / "3G" and "2G/3G" but i could not see any "2G" only options, which is the reason for the problem.
I am having the phone on which i can not make any communications . plesae help..
    thnx in advance

Do not forget to backup your device if possible, but with restore be careful, restore only needed information AddBook SMS Messages, but for no any case Options or etc...

After the install update file do the steps below (NOTE: only applies to Tmobile branded phones)
    C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion/Shared/Loader Files/9700M_OS6/Java  then locate and delete;
    1.net_rim_theme_tmobile_BlackBerry6_480x360_b.cod

    STEP 3:
Plug your phone in via usb and in command promt make current loacation to C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion/Application loader, type the loader.exe /NOJVM (might show up as app loader.exe) and complete the install and voila. • BOOT ROM VERSION ISSUES WITH MINI MAC POWERPC G4 (1.2)

    HI,
I AM HAVING SOME BOOT PROBLEMS ON REBUILDING MY MAC MINI. WHENEVER I PUT IN A BRAND NEW COPY OF EITHER PANTHER OR TIGER THE BOOT SCREEN WITH THE APPLE LOGO CRASHES AND FUNNY GRAPHICS APPEARS, RESULTING IN A FORCED REBOOT AND USING F12 TO EJECT THE CD. THE MAC MINI IS FINE BOOTING OFF OF ITS OWN MANUFACTURE CD, WHICH IS A COPY OF PANTHER, BUT WON'T UPGRADE WITH ANY TIGER DISKS. I HAVE EVEN MANAGED TO CHANGE THE DISKS WITH SOMEBODY ELSE WHO WAS SUCCESSFUL IN UPGRADING TO TIGER.
I HAVE LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND OTHER PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY MENTIONED THAT I SHOULD CHANGE/UPDATE MY BOOT ROM VERSION FROM 4.8.9F1 TO 4.9.8F4.
DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE I CAN GET THIS BOOT ROM UPDATE? I HAVE LOOKED ON APPLE DOWNLOADS, BUT NOTHING APPEARS TO HELP. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS APPREACIATED.
    MANY THANKS

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
First, a word of etiquette, writing your post in ALL CAPS is considered the same thing as yelling. Please don't use ALL CAPS when writing your messages.
Exactly which Mac mini do you have? Is it a G4 Mac mini running at 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 or 1.5GHz? (If it came with Panther install disks, it couldn't be an Intel Mac mini.) Which version of Mac OS X came with your Mac mini? Some of the earlier Mac minis shipped with Mac OS X 10.3.7 and will not startup from any earlier version (most of the retail copies of Panther are 10.3.0 or 10.3.4). If it's a Mac mini that shipped later, it would have come with Mac OS X 10.4.2 and, again, won't startup from any earlier version (most retail copies of Tiger were 10.4.0 but now have 10.4.4). Trying to startup from a disk that's the wrong version will usually cause a "kernel panic" and force you to restart.
So, if your Mac mini shipped with Mac OS X 10.3.7, you should be able to use any retail copy of Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) to update your computer. However, you won't be able to update to 10.4 from the install disk that came with another Mac. You will need to buy a retail copy of your own.
There are no firmware updates available to download to upgrade the "Boot ROM" on your G4 Mac mini, so that option is really not available.

  • HT201269 how do i move all my data from blackberry bold 9700 to iphone 5

    Hi,
I want to move from Blackberry Bold 9700 to an Iphone 5 but I want to save all my current data on my blackberry and move it all to the iphone 5.  How can I do this?  Many thanks for any help you can give me.

Follow this guide: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109.  You'll have to sync after restoring from backup to return you music, apps and other iTunes media to your new phone.
