    Hello!
Here is the list of troubleshooting articles...hopefully something will be useful:

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these.
    Hopefully something there is helpful!

  • I use BB Bold 9790 and my battery which could at least, last for a day now at most, lasts for an hour

I use BB Bold 9790 and my battery which could at least, last for a day now at most, lasts for an hour and half.
The phone heats up so much that I am always forced to plug out the battery always.
Please help cos I love the device!
An more so can't afford to buy a new one cos its a little pricey.

Oh, then reread Post 2 please, for the last paragraph gives you options to proceed with. Not knowing which you desire to use, I'll just give you a bunch and you can choose.
The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try the "Bare Bones OS Reload Procedure" to attempt to narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
You may also need the use of these tricks:

KB27956 How to recover a BlackBerry smartphone from any state
    http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101-lecture-12-how-reload-operating-system-nuked-blackberry
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:
KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software
Good luck and let us know!

  • Connector specific error - blackberry bold 9790 - desktop software version 6.1 and outlook 2010

    Hi there
I've recently upgraded my business partners' outlook from 2007 to 2010.  In doing so we've had a corrupt profile which we have had to delete and then replace with a new one.  In doing so his outlook started working again but now his blackberry isn't synching the calendar entries.
    Here's the basics:
    - Bberry model - Bold 9790
    - Bberry operating system - Blackberry's latest (7.1 I think)
    - Blackberry desktop software 6.1 - this is intentional as we have found in the newer version of hte desktop software that we cannot map our teamsite calendar from outlook and sync the entries
    - Outlook version 2010
    - Calendars we are trying to sync are a personal one from a pst folder and a teamsite one from sharepoint linked to our microsoft exchange set up.
The error we are getting is a 'connector specific error'
I have worked with him to create the PTtrace.log and tif.log files.  I've gotten reams of pages; but the errors on todays date (when the problem began) have come up with error 4238, 113, and 12.  We have tried un-installing and re-installing 6.1 as well and no luck.  We have re-set the configuration setup and re-mapped folders; chosen the new outlook profile, etc and still keep getting same error.
I'm now starting to think that there is a problem with the mapi profile as a start and wonder if outlook needs to repair itself or whether we are getting the error because of a duplicate entry somewhere (though if you asked me to tell you where from the logs I couldn't identify it).
I'm litterally tearing my hair out because my poor business partner lives and dies by his blackberry.  Really want to try to get this resolved; but need some help and suggestions as I've tried most of the main causes and fixes.
Any assistance would really be appreciated so I can put him and myself out of our misery.
    Thanks in advance.
    Cel

Hi and Welcome to the Community...apologies for the delayed reply...hopefully you already have this resolved, but just in case!
Thank you for the thorough report...that helps tremendously. Sadly, though, none of the errors you listed reveal anything useful when I search the public KBs...perhaps you will be more lucky
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/microsite.do
Even though it sounds like you may have done all or part of this, I encourage you to research the process in this thread:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-...
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
Your suspicion about the MAPI Profile may well be warranted, in which case this KB might be useful.

  • Bold 9700 Charging Pod doesn't Sync

    Hi,
On ShopBlackberry.com, I came across this for the Bold 9700:
    http://www.shopblackberry.com/_blackberryaccessoriescan/cgi-bin/pd.cgi?frompage=category&page=produc...
Where, under the features, it says:
    Features
Combines with any travel or data cable charger to charge and/or sync with a BlackBerry smartphone
Display smartphone while recharging, taking calls, watching videos or listening to music
I picked one up today from my mobile carrier, since it was quicker and no shipping fees. However, it doesn't sync! It charges fine when connected to a wall socket, and my computer. However, my computer dosen't recognize it while its in the pod.
Is this normal behaviour for the Bold 9700 charging pod? Could it be a misprint on the website? Or, are there possibly 2 versions of the charging pod?
    Thanks!

    ryguy2008 wrote:
    Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I've already installed all that, and set everything up. Syncing with the microSD cable directly works fine.
for your information the cable is a Micro-USB cable and not a MicroSD.
MicroSD stands for a type of flash memory card (Micro SDHC Card). Most recent BlackBerry devices have a MicroSD slot.
    ryguy2008 wrote:
I'm just trying to understand why it seems there's only one pod available for the Bold 9700 from RIM
yes there is just one pod for Bold 2. See my previous answer to understand how it is designed. I know it is deceiving.
    ryguy2008 wrote:
I didn't buy it from there, only because it seemed like the same product was available for slightly less from my mobile carrier, and obviously without any shipping fees.
indeed. I still don't understand why the same product is 3 or 4 times more expensive on the RIM shop than on Amazon or in a carrier store.

  • Unable to update 7.1 on Bold 9790

    Hi
I am unable to update device software version 7.1 on my Bold 9790.  I already have 7.0 and keep getting this message on Desktop Manager that there is newer version 7.1 available.
    Need support....

    Hi jawwad_karim
Yes it might be the reason , you can try a manual update just downloading the OS file from your Carrier and install it on your personal PC or laptop ,Do a complete backup using BlackBerry Desktop software then disconnect your internet from the pc then use loader.exe to load the new OS to your device, try it this way :
1.Locate your Carrier and Download the OS you desire from here and Install it in your PC or Laptop Carriers
(make sure you are downloading for the same model as you have )
    2. Download and install the latest BlackBerry desktop software from here BlackBerry desktop software
Then using desktop software perform your full backup of your device.
KB12487 :  How  backup BlackBerry smartphone Data using BlackBerry desktop software for Windows.
3.Search your C: drive for Vendor.xml and delete them, there may be one or two vendor.xml ( On your Pc change your folders option to show hidden files/folders ) You can Skip step  3 if you are using your carrier OS pack :
        C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
        C:\Users\Windows UserName\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    4. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. (For 64-bit Vista or Windows 7, the path       will be C: > Program Files x86 > Common Files > Research In Motion > AppLoader) double click Loader.exe.
Upgrade will continue then After Installation of New OS restore your backup from BlackBerry desktop
    Software.

So try it and let us know.

    any idea ?

  • Email problem bold 9790

I set up email on my blackberry bold 9790 and it was working fine for about a week, then I stopped getting messages on my phone although I can send them.
I contacted my service provider and tried all of the options they gave to fix the problem (same as mentioned on other threads here) but nothing worked. They checked everything at their end and said all was in order and I should take my phone to a blackberry service centre. Does such a thing exist in the UK?
Out of interest I tried setting up another email address that and that is working fine but still nothing from my main email account.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Kathy

    KathyJCole wrote:
I have tried steps 1 to 3 without success.
Can you expand on that please? Does that mean the steps did not complete as documented (in which case proceeding to the next step is moot anyway...since success of each step is required before proceeding to the next step)? Or did each step complete as documented, but the behavior you reported did not change?
    KathyJCole wrote:
I have tried deleting the email account that is giving the problems then added it again. I got the confirmation message that it has been successfully set up but it is still not recieving emails.
Depending on how the 3 steps went (my above question), that result may impact what to do now.
And, are you expecting old emails to appear? If so, that will never happen. With BIS, you can only receive new emails starting at the time of configuration.
    KathyJCole wrote:
My service provider say that everything is working correctly at their end so there is nothing more they can do and I need to contact Blackberry. I asked how to find a service centre in the UK and they said to google but that directs me to the Blackberry site which is not at all helpful and implies that such a thing does not exist.
    Any other ideas?
Yes...escalate with your service provider. Whoever you are talking to is not properly trained. Consider -- who do you pay for your services? You don't pay BB...you pay your mobile service provider. As such, it is they who are failing in their contractual requirement to deliver services to you. And, hence, it is 100% their responsibility to actually assist you, not simply fob you off to Google. They have exclusive channels by which to formally escalate cases up to BB that they cannot handle...there are no free channels for BB users to seek support directly from BB, except in the case of those regions in the world where Service Centers are actually used (again, I have no clue if such exist where you are).
    KathyJCole wrote:
I find it very odd that I can send emails from my Blackberry with no problem but cannot recieve them, to my mind it implies there is some sort of configuration problem but I can't find it.
The other email address is working fine.
Indeed it is odd, but there is no such thing as 100% universal compatibility. Sometimes, an email system is so very "special" that things won't work correctly. But, only those with access to the systems involved can actually look and see -- and that would be your carrier, for it is their BIS system that is having this difficulty.
