BOM change history

Dear all
We are using change number to chang BOM. We want to develop a report for all BOM change history. Is there any function module can use? From table CDPOS is difficult to know what have been changed.
Thanks
Hailiang

Hi,
As others have questioned Why CS80 is not suitable ??
Other possibility would be:
Make a work instruction or mandatory to maintain the description and details of the change in the "BOM Long text".
U can see the long text indicator in BOM,if checked than u will come to know the details.
Caution: Works fine only if everyone follows maintaining the long text for any changes.

Prakash

  • BOM Changes History

    Dear Sir,
We need to generate a Report showing all changes made in a BOM during a period . For making such a Report we are facing following problem :
    a) The problem related to DELETED Item  :
Say on 01/04/2009 , for a Material BOM of Item 'HEADER-1' , we inserted a child item say 'CHILD-1'
        of quantity 1 number .
Then on 10/04/2009 , this Child Item was deleted from the BOM . Now we want to know the details
about the deleted Item ( say  Material Code and Materal Quantity) .
We could not find any table , which can give this information .
    b) The problem related to INSERTED Item  :
Say on 01/04/2009 , for a Material BOM of Item 'HEADER-1' , we inserted a child item say 'CHILD-1'
        of quantity 1 number .
From Table CDPS , we can know only that an Item has been INSERTED and have information like
      BOM Number / Node / Counter .
But there is no information available about the Inserted ITEM CODE and It's Quantity  .
We request you to kindly guide us , as how can we get this desired information .
    With Thanks and Rgds

    Dear Sonia,
You have to use the table STPO,but so much of work around is required for this and infact in my
observation this may not even be successful.
Say I have B and C as the component under the BOM of A.
Now Say the initial BOM was
    B - 1 - Ea
    C - 1 - Ea,
Now in STPO check whether are you able to see 2 item nodes one for B and one for C.
Suppose if I'm changing 1 ea of B into 10 ea,then in STPO,
against this B you will get the changed by value also for its item node ,and one more row will be seen
with the new item node say 00000003 and here you can find the previous node value as say 00000001.
Here for the newly created node if you compare the quantity with the previous node, you will be able to
identify the differences.Likewise it may be related to component scrap or any field.
on the otherhand say now if you delete the entire component B from the BOM and then check in
    STPO,it will be quite complicated.
But in this case if you check in STAS you will be able to see only one row with a node for C.
So you have to compare STAS and STPO for the same.

  • BOM change track report.

    Hello All,
I have a requirement where I need to develop a report that represent following fields of BOM change history.
    1. Material (Along with description if possible)
    2. Changed By
    3. Change On
    4. Change Details (Entry, Delete, and replacement data for the item)
    5. Header level change (Change in Base quantity, from to lot size, Bom activation/deactivation)
    6. Plant (Most Important)
I have checked to get it through CS80  Change Documents for Material BOMm but it'svery lengthy task and can't do it one by one.
I have gone through these tables
    STKO --- BOM - header
    STPO --- BOM - item
STAS --- BOMs - Item Selection
    STPN --- BOMs - follow-up control
    STPU --- BOM - sub-item
    STZU --- Permanent BOM data
    But not getting any clue.
NOTE:- I have not implemented the Change document mgmt system (CC01,CC02) and if I do such so then what about the existing changes already done in the system. So, I know it can be achieved by implementing Change mgmt but practically it's not possible for me.
    kindly help!!!!!!!!!

    Dear Jimmy,
I dont think it's possible to prepare a report using the tables or CS80 for the same, without having Engineering Change

    Check and revert back.

  • VA01-Change History for BOM

Do u have any idea abt this scenario..
In VA01 i create a normal order and save it...and later i go to change mode and make few changes and again save it... environment ---> changes i can see the change history of what all changes i made
Like wise i give a BOM (material) and make changes...i still can see the change history...but when i go to this reason of rejection tab...and give a reason  for rejection code for this BOM and save...this particular change is not saved in the change history...
    Any idea?

Changes will be updated in change history only if the status wont change for that item. In rejection, the item status itself will change to Rejected. In this scenario, the change history wont be updated.
A change in status is not recorded as change history
A change in document for the same status is noted in change history.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Authorization to change BOM with history requirements

    Hi Techies,
I m facing an issue now with respect to authorisation of changing BOM with history requirements. Our quality system was a copy from a production server which was used for CRM before. Usually in SAP when we change a BOM with a change number we cant again change it back without a change number.
In our case it is not providing an error but it is providing a warning. Now my requirement is to change this warning message to error message. So that people wont change BOM without a change number.
I tried to enter the transaction SU24 and found the authorizaton C_STUE_NOH with proposal YS. Then i tried to change the filed value to ' ' (NO) and saved it.
But still i m not able to change the warning message to error message.
Is there any other setting i need to carry out for this.
Please help me with this issue.
    Thanking you in advance.
    Regards,
    Kris.S

    Dear Krishu,
Below has been mentioned in OSS note: 420878. Check once again you have save as NO. Then go to tcode SU03 Object Class PP/ C_STUE_ROH
    Summary
    Symptom
In Customizing of the BOM, the history requirement is set or a BOM requires a history. Despite this, it is possible to process BOMS without engineering change management. The system only processes a warning message (29 045) which can be skipped.
    Additional key words
    CS02, change number, OS27, W045(29)
    Cause and prerequisites
    Authorization profile
    Solution
Check the authorization profile of the respective user.
    Example:
             C_STUE_NOH <OBJ>
                &_SAP_ALL    <AUT>
                    NOHIS      <FLD>
would have the authorization to process BOMs requiring history without a change number. In this case, if you change '*' to ' ' in NOHIS, you will no longer receive a warning, but rather an error message.

    Hello check this SPRO settings ;
    Engineering Change Management Setup
This are the basic IMG settings in order to used the engineering change management
    features.
    x refers to a tick.
First setup the control data in OS54.
    Revision sections
    Fields :-
    Revision level active            x
    Ext. revision level              x
    Higher revision level            x
    Object Management Record sections
    Fields :-
    Object maintenance               x
    Assign alternative date          x
    Overide value/assignment date sections
    Fields :-
Only with leading change mst.    x
Setting the Revision level active is to activate the engineering change management for
material master.  If you do not want the engineering change management for materials,
    remove the tick.
With a tick in "Higher revision level", the new revision level has to be always higher
    than the old revision.
Secondly, setup the external number range in OS53.
If you use the internal number range, then remove the external number range.
Third, define the status for the change master records in transaction SM30 - V_T419S.
Change No.     Chg        Date Chg     Dist. Lock      Description
    Status         Poss
      1             x            x             ' '         Active
      2            ' '          ' '            ' '         Inactive
      3            ' '          ' '             x          Locked
Fourth, define modification parameters for the BOM in OS27.
    Fields :-
    BOM Validty Maint.               x
    EC Management Active             x
    History Requirement             ' '
    Unit Piece                      PC
The rest of the fields are blank.
If the History Requirement is tick, every time during creation of the BOM, SAP will
prompt your for an ECN number as is compulsory.
Lastly, define fields selection for routing in OP5A.
PP task lists: initial screen -> Change number -> Transaction code -> Tick Req.
Setting the Transaction code fields Required indicate that you have make the ECN number
    compulsory when changing the routing.
Finally, do a test by making changes to the Material Master, BOM and Routing.

  • Authorization to change BOM without history requirements

    Hi Techies,
We are checking the design and validation of few scenarios in the testing server. During the testing we found that we are able to change the BOM which we have already changed with Change number without change number. Instead of an error message we are only getting a warning message stating the BOM has history requirements.
I found that we could do that only if we had the authorisation C_STUE_NOH assigned to the user profile.
I checked the transaction SU24 and for the transaction CS02 i found the authorisation C_STUE_NOH assigned and the authorisation proposal was YS.
I m a functional consultant and hence i m not able to come to a conclusion on this to know if this the reason which is allowing us to change the BOM without history and just providing an warning message instead of error message.
    Thanking you in advance.

  • BOM document item change history

I am trying to find an efficient way to track change history of Bill of Material structure for documents, especially deletions of BOM structure components. I found an SAP table called STAS which contains Bill of Material Number, its component counter number and a deletion indicator, but not the <b>document numbers</b> of the BOM parent document and BOM component document. Is there a database table that contains all this information (BOM #, component counter #, BOM parent document #, BOM component document #, as well as the change date)?

Not sure ,there may be two reasons 1,He might have deleted accedentally adn lateyer he forgot or his id might using his group team to chage data when his absence. If system noted his user id and time some might have used his id.Check with basis time they might have user entries that time how many times the user id used that time .

  • Table for BOM changes

Is there a report that I can run to find all BOM changes for a specific date? Is there a table that I can query that would hold this information?
I would also like to perform the same search for recipies and material master changes.

    Hi
    YOu can use CS80.
I think you must be aware about the BOM history maintenance which you select at the time of customization.
After you select the indicator please go to the table MKAL and find out the BOM.
It will show you all the changes made in a particular BOM
also you can find the change records in tables CDHDR (Header records), CDPOS (Item records), CDATA (Details)
    Material master changes - MM04
Recipe change report - check C260 and C261

  • All dates of BOM change

    Hello!
I'm writing a function that is searching for parts of a model in the BOM. I'm saving the result to a buffer table, so I need to find all dates of BOM change (at all levels). For example:
    01.06.2006 -> BOM created
    07.06.2006 -> material A added at level 4
    14.06.2006 -> material added at level 3
    26.07.2006 -> material deleted at level 1
    30.01.2007 -> material A replaced by B at level 4
We are using change numbers to keep the history...
I don't need to know what happend, I want to find out the dates of changes.
Is it possible to find out these dates without exploding the whole BOM?

Sorry! I sent this question twice by mistake! Please check my second thread: "BOM change dates". ThanX!

I finished that function. The main logic is this recursively called form. You should call this form by importing the highest level material:

               c_stlal TYPE mast-stlal VALUE '01',   " Default alternative

FORM get_dates USING matnr werks stlal.

      LOOP AT now.
        MOVE: now-datuv TO datuv_search-datuv.
        COLLECT datuv_search.
        PERFORM get_dates USING now-matnr werks c_stlal.
      ENDLOOP.
    ENDFORM.
This form will fill the <b>datuv_search</b> table. This table will contain all change dates...
