BOM Global Update

Hi Experts,
I have a question regarding the functionality of the BOM Global update. How is this option supposed to work exactly?
If I update the price of:
1. A component within the BOM screen
2. The parent item within the BOM screen
3. The parent item within the Item Master Data screen
The BOM is not then suggested for update on running the Global update option.
The Global update function only seems to pick up BOMs where the component prices have been updated outside the BOM screen (for example in the Item Master Data screen).
Is this correct? My customer is wondering why other changes to BOM parent and component prices do not result in the BOM being suggested for a price change within Global Update

Hi Greig,
Your observation would be correct. Global Update option may only apply if somewhere else also need the update. If all updates are confined within BOM, it should not trigger this function.

Task Privileges for Existing Users - Looking for a global update solution

After some reading I understand that if you set the task privileges for the PUBLIC user in the Privileges section of Discoverer Administrator (10g), any new user created in the system will pick up the privileges you have assigned to the PUBLIC user.
I currently have 4000+ users who have access to Discoverer Plus and the ability to create/edit queries. I want to limit who can access Discoverer Plus functionality to approximately 150 users.
I have changed my PUBLIC user to NOT have privileges but this will only affect new users. Is there any way to restrict 4000+ users without having to go through each user individually and set the privileges.
I am looking for a global update solution. I am wondering if this can be done through the back-end.

If you change the rights for the public user then other users, who have not been manually adjusted in any way, will automatically pick up the public rights. Therefore, if you have a lot of users that are not changing this means that at some point in their life you will have clicked OK or Apply on the screen with a user displayed. This now assigns the rights to that user as opposed to inheriting them from the public user.
What you are describing is the perfect reason why you should not administer Discoverer using user accounts but to use roles or responsibilities instead.
In your case you are now somewhat stuck. The programatic way to revoke these rights is to drop rows from the EUL5_ACCESS_PRIVS table but this could take longer than doing inside Discoverer. Basically, when a user has been granted privileges one row per privilege is inserted into this table. The column AP_EU_ID contains the ID of the user. The column GP_APP_ID is the one that tells you what privilege a user has. Here is a list of the privileges:

Note: A = Admin privilege, U = User privilege
Theoretically you could manually delete rows from this table and that will revoke the rights. In reality, Oracle do not like it when inexperienced users manually the EUL as you could corrupt it. Therefore, any manual updates must be done with utmost caution after making sure you back up or have a copy of the table you will be updating - just in case.
Try running this query to see the content:

Exchange rate and BOM price update

Dear all,
I would like to update the price of my BOMs, in which I have components with prices in different currencies, according to the current exchange rate.
I saw that if I use the yellow triangle at the bottom of the BOM's form I get the right values while if I use the Update Parent Item Prices Globally functionality, even if the exchange rates have changed, I didn't get any suggestion to update the price.
Is it the right behaviour? Is there a way to update the BOM prices automatically according to the current exchange rates?

thank you for your answer, but maybe I wasn't clear. I make an example:
Parent Item A
Component 1 --> Price 1 EUR
Component 2 --> price 1 USD
Exchange rate --> 1 USD= 0,82 EUR
Item A Price = 1,82 EUR
(EUR is the system currency)
Now, if the exchange rate changes (today 1 USD = 0,78 EUR), then I need to click on the triangle in the bottom of the BOM form to update the price (from 1.82 EUR to 1.78 EUR).
If I run the Update Parent Item Prices Globally function I don't get the same result... (or better I don't get any result!!!).
The prices in price lists could be in any currency, not only in system currency.

ALE BOM. Updates ALL! items with validity date & change no.

Hi All,
We are having problems where ALE-BOM sent with change in validity date (with change no) to a particular item. What happens is that ALE-BOM will instead update ALL! items with the same validity date and change number.
Next,when we process ALE again for the same BOM with a different validity date(with change no), then only that
particular item is updated with validity date and change no.
Would anyone know what could be the problem that when changes are sent for the first time all items are updated?

Dear:
The error itself telling you the correction. You profit center which is assigned to your cost center has a validity date less than the one you are now assigning.You can check in KE52 against the profit center assigned to your cost center master data. However the best thing is to go to KS01 and create this cost center with desired validity date.
This will resolve your issue.

Re-costing of header material when Sub-item material BOM is updated

Hi ,
A sales order is created with a header material (HM) and coressponding sub items (SM1 & SM2 ) got populated automatically from the BOM.Now the costing for this three line items happened as expected i.e.,
For example :
Header Material : HM
          Sub item1 :-      SM1
          Sub item2 :-      SM2
              MAP of Sub item 1 > SM1 = 20 USD
              MAP of Sub item 2 > SM2 = 30 USD
Costing in the main line item appears as 50 USD ( 20 + 30 USD) .
Now business go to the transaction CU51 and make the changes in the sales order BOM subitem1 ,material SM1 by adding or deleting items in the BOM. After that they are trying to re-cost the sales order and it is observed that only the corresonding sub item (SM1) is getting re-costed with new value.But the header item HM is not getting updated with the new values it still have the old values .
It would be really helpful if you can let me know what is the issue for this.

IF my understanding is correct then the sub-items is only to split up the exact component quantity and it's usage in the exact
production or assembly process for information or understanding purpose.
Sub-items have no operational function in the BOM. They are not copied to the production order. However, you can use sub-
items to help you create programs for your company (for example, automatic assembly programs).

Function module for BOM item update

Hi,
Please enlightenn us, which FM is do the update for BOM item datas. ( current FM is updated line item one item then come out and log in again updating another line item , thus cause more error are facing.)
we want a FM to update one time all the line time and come out from the screen.

You Can use function module CSAP_MAT_BOM_MAINTAIN to process simple material BOMs.
To change BOMs, you can also use the following function modules:
CSAP_MAT_BOM_OPEN
CSAP_BOM_ITEM_MAINTAIN
CSAP_MAT_BOM_CLOSE
You can use FM CSAP_ORD_BOM_MAINTAIN to Maintain Order BOM.

suppose i am creating one BOM in Plant A and want to extend into B,C,D,E simultaneously .
and also easiest way to Extend Material with one plant to another plant with minimum effort by user.

It is not possible to update automatically in standard SAP.
Either you can go for custom program or use standard LSMW object for extending the master data in the other plants
As usual, the same template what ever used for Material and BOM creation initially can be used.

Multy level BOM & RG1 updation

we r doing multy level bom in sales order
EX: project item is TAP
equipment item is TAN(finished material)
component itam is BTAN
we r maintaing pricing at TAN leval and BTAN pricing is statistical.But we r delivering BTAN itams under tae TAN, procuring the materials for TAN bom wise and not delivering the TAN but how the RG1 register will b update.
Sales process.
Inquiry-quotation-s.order-deliver(BTAN means semifinished+ bought only)-proforma invoice with JEX - excise invoice.
and commarcial invoice with billing plan TAN item wise only.
ONE MORE ISSUE is the delivery status of the equipment(TAN) in sales order is open because we r not maintin stock not delivery.how the equipment(TAN) will b updated in RG1 register

RG1 will be updated according to the Goods Issue documents (MB03).
which will be against to specific movement type.
in your issue, if you are delivering the main item or sub item goods- specific material doc against to this movement type will be generated ( doc type:WL), which will be seen in delivery doc flow:Goods issue document.
RG1 will update only for this material document, not for those items, whcih is nto actually delivered.

Dreamweaver Global Updates

Hi all,
I'm constantly updating and editing a website that I've
created using HTML and CSS in DMX. Is there a more easier way of
making changes to the same element on each page without having to
manually change each page on my own? For instance, I need to change
the submenu on each page. How can I do that globally for each page
without having to open, and cut & paste each page (~20 pgs. or
so).
I'm somewhat familiar with the Dreamweaver templates, but if
I attach a template to an existing page, it overrides the entire
page to the current template page. I'm starting to use the Libray
Items, but I guess that doesn't help either since I haven't applied
the template page nor library item to each page to begin with. If
anyone knows better way, please help!

BOM quantity update in a confiurable material

Hi All
Material is a configurable material ,which is having a selection options in a sales order and based on the selection options there is characteristics BOM quantity gets updated based on the formulae.
If you go to routing and double click on the operation to see the details , you will see the unit of measure conversion with the header and Operation fields. I want BOM quantity should get updated in the operation field (UMREN).
I was using the Reference characteristics with PLPOD table and UMREN field to update the value in the UMREN field. And i created a procedure with a logic and is assigned to configuration profile and the Routing operation.
Process is MTO process, Production order is generated when the sales order is created. i checked in production order after creating a sales order, UMREN field is not updated and dont know what where i am doing mistake and i also checked in the Routing Master Data there also its not updating.
Above mentioned is not an requirement but to calculate the costs accurately, we have to approach this way.

Hi,
NO inventory figures are updated. The invoice only affects the financial postings and does not affect any stock quantites.
By posting an invoice for a larger qty than was received you would increase the GR/IR clearing account qty so that the extra qty can be cleared if and when a further GR takes place.
But NO stock quantities are ever affected during MIRO.

Error in BOM Dependency update

Hi Experts,
I have developed a BDC for BOM dependency it is working fine in foreground and it is throwing error in background, I am attaching the error screen and the code, please let me know where I am going wrong:

The error log in your screen shoot says that a certain field is not an input field. If it is working fine in foreground and giving this error in background, it could be because some programs have different screens or different versions of screens for background processing so if you made a recording in foreground the screens won't be quite right when run in background. To correct this issue you could try going to SHDB and making a new recording selecting check box "Simulate Background Mode".

Conky broken after global update

I just ran a pacman -Syu and conky was updated to the newest version. Since then I have restarted my computer. When I started KDE I noticed that Conky was not running. I opened up a terminal and tried to run it manually, and I got the following error:

I've tried googling and searching various forums, but it seems like a problem that was just created with the new version. I have no clue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have another odd issue that's come up. In my network section, it shows all the up/down speeds, ip, and such. Then at the bottom is shows "Network Unavailable", while at the same time obviously showing the network up and running. I have a section that gives me a weather report, and it has something similar. Could be related to the endif error being reported? Some if statment not working right?

Seems like the if/else's are being mishandled somehow.

Why wont these globals update?

I have only used globals once or twice before and they always seemed to work out for things like one VI running in the background continusly polling an instrument then have other VI's just read the global.
That does not seem to work in this case. The arrays in the global never change and are always the default value.
I know you will not be able to run the attached code without one of our boards, but at least you can tell me if I am doing something that is just plain wrong....

You mean the VI that you posted worked fine? Globals in LabVIEW.... Well your statement is correct for text-based languages. For LabVIEW, other than giving headaches and storing static data, I'm not sure what else they are good for.. (we often have debates on the subject )

Action Engines or Functional Globals are not that complicated. Functional Globals uses an un-initialized shift register to keep the last value from the previous run. So they are often used as a means of sharing data. Their safety (or safeguard) is that the Functional Globals use states to initialize, write a new valus, read the last value, and optionally reset the value (although initialize may do the same thing).

You should initialize values on wires outside a loop (before entering the loop). And you should avoid using Locals at all cost. The variable in LabVIEW is the actual wire, so there is no need to "pass" a value.

Droid 2 Global Update Stuck at 0%

I'm in Baghdad, Iraq.
I got the message to update my D2G so I accepted.
It's been stuck at 0% for a day.
I tried restarting it in safe mode, but it's still stuck at 0%.
I also tried a battery pull. Still stuck at 0%.
It's connected both to Wifi and to the local cell (roaming) tower. I don't have roaming data enabled, as that'll probably cost hundreds of dollars for the update.
I'd settle for cancelling the update, if possible, or manually downloading it and placing it in the right folder.
Any suggestions?

What version are you running now, Froyo or the 4.5.607 Gingerbread? Both updates (Froyo to 4.5.607, and .607 to .608) are available on the web for manual downloading. This is much quicker than downloading via the phone.

Droid 2 Global Update..?

Okay, so i keep hearing all of these different things, there will be an update for D2G, there won't, Gingerbread will come to D2G, it won't... I'm so confused. I really am hoping that there will be an update for this phone sometime soon, and with the wat, i hope it will be a really extensive update (not just bug fixes, but real changes [different settings, more customization, things like that]) I was hoping tha this could just be cleared up, and maybe some insight on when it would happen...?

Right, this phone was marketed as a business phone. Which is why people got so annoyed when Exchange sync didn't work, and the phone has had no updates since Dec, and that update didn't address that huge issue. So, no, we don't want rushed updates, or even early updates, but perhaps 7 months is enough for an update that is neither!
Can someone from VZW confirm the limited update mentioned by ghhrum. From what I gather from the Motorola forum, the soak test has not yet begun, and this would happen before any Verizon-initiated update.
