Bombs w/ restart after installation, during presentation of opening movie

how can I get past the quicktime presentation after restarting on installation of 10.4.6. I cant use the drive.

Boot with the install disk, select your language, and, when the menu bar pops up, select Utilties->Disk Utility. Select the HD and repair the disk and permissions. If that passes, quit Disk Utility, select Utilities->Startup Disk, select the HD, and click restart. If that still doesn't work, reinstall.

Mac Pro will not restart after installation of Lion.  Help

    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • Receiving error after installation when attempting to open Cricut Craft room.

Receiving error after installation when attempting to open Cricut Craft room. It says 'Application Descriptor cannot be found for this application." I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling/installing older version. Any ideas?

Thanks for the help that fixed my problem for the initial error, but I
still get the same error when I am writing a U16 2-D array to a range
of cells. This is strange because the same code is used elsewhere and
does not throw the error, but the data type is instead a Dbl 2-D
array.  Unfortunately, I am unable to post the code.  It is
    on a stand-alone classified pc.

  • ML keeps restarting after installation! HELP!

I have installed ML and after the installation, it keeps restarting itself. Sometimes it will make it to the desktop and other times will just restart when at grey screen. I have rebooted to disk utility using CMD+R and verified and repaired permission and it still did not help the problem. Now I have booted in safe mode, and it says my software is 10.8 (ML). The update does not show up in my app store, what is the next step to reinstalling ML or any other ideas

So under the four options it gives me, pick the reinstall OS X option? Also, could you explain the Archive part in more detail as I have never had to do anything like this before. Thanks

  • OS X 10.4.7 upgrade--horrible buzz on restart after installation

Anyone else have this phenomenon? It happened right after installing the OS, then again after installing iLife 06. Very nasty sounding, but so far everything else seems to be working OK.
    TIA,
    --TIm

    Hello, Tim,
No, not a problem here with the 4.7 upgrade.
Did you repair permissions before and after each installation? If not, do it right now and then do a restart of the computer and see if that corrects the buzz.

  • J2 SE 1.3.1_12 Installation problem (doesn't restart after installation)

    Hello there,
I tried installing Java2 Standard Edition v1.3.1_12 for about 4 times on Windows Professional 2000. Everytime it installes successfully ( I mean, I get the installation last screen saying installation complete and click on the "Finish" button), but it doesn't restart the maching after clicking on the Finish Button. In a way it is an incomplete installation as it wouldn't update the registery.
I downloaded the the file second time and installed but the same problem persist.
Can someone help me out please.
    Thanks.

reboot your compter ... (what's so hard about that?)

  • New Graphics update - Restart after installation takes forever

After installing the latest graphics update, it started to reboot, but gets stuck at the blue restart screen with the spinning wheel. I had to power the MacBook off manually to get it to restart. Any one got such an glitch with the new update. I read that this update seems glitchy on some Macs.

For some reason the update hung up. Reinstall and see if that goes smoothly. BTW, you read wrongly. See http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20013892-263.html?tag=mncol;title

  • Constant screen refresh when restarting after installation of mountain lion

I've just installed mountain lion . When it restarts I get the main screen then it has a green tint then reddish then refreshes and starts all over again.  I left it on all night ant it was still doing the same in the morning.
Restarted in safe mode, disc is fine showing no errors.
I have re-installed lion using time machine and all is well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Don't quote me on this, but I think that the rules may have changed for Mountain Lion and you may need either 2 matching pairs or at least matching modules installed in both bottom slots.
as per > iMac: How to remove or install memory
Additional notes i5 and i7 Quad Core iMac computers come with both top memory slots populated. These computers will not start up if only a single DIMM is installed in any bottom slot; these computers should operate normally with a single DIMM installed in any top slot. Core Duo iMac computers should operate normally with a single DIMM installed in any slot, top or bottom. ("Top" and "bottom" slots refer to the orientation of the slots in the pictures below. "Top" refers to the slots closest to the display; "bottom" refers to the slots closest to the stand).

  • Updated itunes, error message about mobile popped up during installation, then after installation, tunes will not start. gives error that a dll file is missing.

I downloaded the new Itunes version. During installation, there was an error message that said no Mobile access.  After installation, Itunes would not open.  Gave an error message that a DLL file was not found. Removed itunes from computer and initiated new download.  Same problem with new download. Still does not open. I'm stumped.  I have over  30,000 files in itunes and use it every day HELP

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • I-Tunes Auto-Restart After Closing Program

My i-Tunes began automatically restarting when I close the window on my desktop. It is pretty annoying.
It only restarts after I have had it open. If I have not opened i-tunes it behaves. But, if I open i-Tunes to listen to music on by desktop, and then close the program when I am done, it will restart within 10-seconds.
    I am using Windows 7  and i-Tunes 10.2.2.12
I can't find a solution and sfter 15-minutes of trying to find a link to submit a help request, I gave up and am trying this avenue.
    Thanks

Yes. FATFS.NLM tries to mount all FAT partitions it finds, not just the
boot partition. So any problem FAT partition may cause trouble.
    >I tried the "FORMAT D: /s /x" command but it display the "Bad track in

This sounds like your disk is physically broken. As a short term solution,
you can probably delete the DOS partition on D: but not create it again.
That way, FATFS.NLM will not try to fix the broken part of your disk. Of
course, you should as soon as possible replace your disk.
For this, you should first create and copy your DOS partition manually on
the new disk and then start your server and use NSSMU.NLM to manage the
    mirroring of the NetWare partition(s).

  • How avoid restart after installing JMF ?

if i make my audio and video chat using JMF
is it necessary to install JMF and make restart on client pc?
i don t want to disturb user
is it away for avoiding installing all JMF or just avoid restarting after installation
    really need the answer
    thanks

You dont have to restart your computer. You can just copy all of the JMF-dlls to your application folder and use the file in the classpath. It depends what type of application you create. If you have an applet the dlls have to be copied to one of the PATH-Folders of your system (eg windows/system). For a standalone-app just have the dll's in your app folder and include . in your classpath.
To be able to use video/audio-devices at startup you have to call the corresponding Auto-Classes of jmf.jar like new VFWAuto() once to register all available devices in the jmf registry.
How this corresponds to the JMF-license is however a different story. I dont know if you are allowed to circumvent the JMF-Installer this way. But you could inform the user that a restart is not necessary before starting the JMF-Installer....

  • N6300 (firmware 5.00) restarts after opening a pla...

I have N6300 with firmware 5.00 (the newest version, according to software update program) and 2GB memory card (full of music). Every time I try to open any playlist that I created in Nokia Music Manager (ver.2.0), my phone starts opening the playlist, but restarts after a while without actually opening it. I tried to format the memory card and upload the songs again, reinstall the firmware, but it did not help. With this bug, the Music player in the phone is good for nothing, as I cannot actually play any music... :-( any suggestions what can cause the problem? It did not do before, it started only recently when I uploaded some new songs to the memory card... Thanks!

So, Raymond sent me his project and I was able to get it to open. Here's what I did to troubleshoot it.
If you've ever looked inside Motion project files, you'd see that they are just text files with XML in them.
I loaded Raymond's file into a text editor and one by one, deleted a layer, saved it, tried the project, if it crashed, I restored the layer. Then I'd move on to the next layer. A layer is between:
       <layer name="Layer 7" id="10589">
    ... and ...
       </layer>
Once I found the offending layer (after deleting it, the project would open), I looked at the items in the layer. If you look at the crash log above, it says Motion died rendering a rotoshape, so I deleted a mask in the problematic layer (It had a <mask name="Mask copy" id="10487" factoryID="10"> and a </mask>), and bingo, the project opened.
Hope that helps someone else crashing trying to open an old project...
