Bonanza burning up effect: HELP

Looking to do a Bonanza (TV) spoof (map burning at beginning). Any burning up type effects through FC? (one edge to the rest of the map).
Thanks!
Ellen

Y'all varmints are 'bout as much help as usin' a flagpole ta scratch yer back with...
Now see here missy; what'ya gots ta do is make them thar video-type elements a layer'd type-o thingy in dat whatcha-ma-call-it doohicky program... umm wuz, that thing called agin?? Oooh yeah.. Motion. Yep, just wrastle-up all yer perty little assets into a nice con-coction 'o stuff them'z boys call a sequence an' do it th' ol'fasion'd way. Yessiree, that'll do ya proper-like.
Did ya git all that?
City-Slicker translation: You'll have to do it manually as a Motion sequence. There are a handful of fire plug-ins and templates for a fire-type effect, but nothing that will automatically replicate that "map burning" effect you're after. It's most definitely a highly-skilled operation to accomplish and most editors would hire an After Effects specialist to create it.
The low-tech and easier way to do (although it won't look as good) would be to get a map, literally burn it in front of green screen (preferably outside since most studios won't allow a real fire inside) and key the sequence in FCP. Yipee-ki-yay.

  • Need to create Bonanza burning map effect

Hi, I have been using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 for about 6 months  now, and am still learning more every day. I have the entire full version CS5 suite, but have not yet begun to venture into special effects. For a project I need to re-create the Bonanza burning map effect but to be honest, there is no way I can learn AE that fast to get the project done in time. I have tried a few online tutorials, but realize for a complete beginner to AE, that might not be the best place to start. Is there anywhere I can get some sort of preset (even from a third party) that I can simply apply to my picture and the movie underneath? I will get the Classroom in a book for AE at some point, but this project needs to be finished by this week...
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Without much trouble in AE, you could create this--and without having to use Fractal Noise.
AE comes with a bundle of extra effects from Cycore. One of them is called "Burn Film," and with a little artful subterfuge, you could use this to burn a whole in a map (or whatever). It's pretty simple to animate: keyframe the Burn property from 0 to 100 and you're done

  • Can you Turn on the Ken Burns Motion Effect in IDVD?

I see several transition effects in iDVD, but I don't see the Ken Burns Pan Motion effect as seen in iPhoto. This effect makes a slide show almost look like a video. Great stuff. Is there a way to select Ken Burns Motion effect if you created a slide show in iDVD?
I can create a slide show in iPhoto with the Ken Burn effect and share it with iDVD. When I do this, it creates a new project in iDVD. If I have several slide shows in iPhoto and send them to iDVD, they create their separate projects. Is there a way to combine separate projects in iDVD. I've looked around the Forum and can't seem to find an answer. Thanks for your help to a new beginner.
    HJCW

You have to select each album and click on the PLAY button. This brings up a dialogue with all the settings. You don't actually have to play the slideshow, just click on "Save Settings".
I've since found out that you can shift-select multiple albums at and change their settings in one go. Wish I'd worked that one out before!
Like I said before: a central preferences setting for base slideshow settings would be nice!

  • After effects help & adobe air

i'm in the after effects cs5 application (creative suite production premium) on a power mac 10.5.8 and when i go to the help pull down and click on after effects help, i get the following error message:
don't even know what abobe air is. i'm assuming the after effects help has to run through this app. is this something i need to install and what does it do? i hate hate running unnecessary programs. thanks.

You can use After Effects Help without using the AIR application. You can either use the HTML version of After Effects Help on the Web or the  PDF version of After Effects Help.
For information on how to fix this problem with the AIR application, see the Community Help Client forum.

  • Please rate the After Effects Help pages you find useful

You may have noticed that Adobe employees and Community Experts hanging in this forum keep pointing users to the relevant sections in After Effects Help on the Web. The reason for this is, of course, that the quality of explanations, visual examples, video tutorials and other materials in those pages is much higher than what anyone could quickly type in a forum reply. Personally, I think AE help has experienced a drastic overhaul in the last few years, to become a great, community-driven, user-focused resource.
if you find these pages helpful, you can in return help the documentation team by stating which pages you find useful by using the buttons at the bottom of each page.

  • Best way to make a burn out effect like in this film?

I am trying to figure out how to make the same kind of film burn out effect like this short film has in the beginning.
Check out the beginning of this short film. The yellow/red burn outs that are on the first couple of clips, what is the easiest way to make them in Motion (or FCP)?
I've been fumbling a bit with the "Cool" emitter in Motion, but can't get the same feel.
Please give me some tips, if you can.
Oh and here is a link for the short film I am referring to:
    http://frenchquarterfeatures.com/movies/eighteen_seconds.640.mov
    Thanks in advance...

The effect emulates fogging of the film, as if someone opened the camera before the film had been taken up onto the reel or into the magazine.
I'd download that clip, convert it to a useable format and play with keying filters till I got mostly the flashes. Then I'd start adding masked layers and shapes to fill in the rest or to cover up residual hunks of the film's stars. Precompose or render. This will give you a place to start. Use it to blend in a moving red-yellow image.
Or look at ARTBEATS site and see what they've got for film burn effects (not Ken Burns effects). I'll be tthta's where this filmmaker got his/hers.

  • Updated After Effects Help, and an update on my role

I just updated After Effects Help, and now I'm in Technical Support:

In my new role, my job is to provide "online, one-to-many" technical support for Adobe's professional video products. In other words, I'm supposed to spend even more time helping out on forums like this one.
    So, howdy.

  • Ken Burns Effect Help

When using the Ken Burns effect with iMovie HD to zoom in on a picture I would like to be able to hold the zoomed image for a few seconds. The only way I have found to do this is to import the same picture twice. The first uses the Ken Burns effect to zoom and with the second I try and match the zoom and position of the finish point of the first. There is always a little jump when it transitions from the first to the second. Anyone know a better way to do this?
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

The trick is to use Option-drag to duplicate the Ken Burns clip you've made, then edit the duplicate clip to behave as you wish. The duplicate will begin with the same settings as the original ends, which prevents jumping.

  • Glitches/dropout on burned DVD.  HELP!!

    Hello all,
Great forum. Really hope someone can help.
My problem is that I have burned using DVDSP3 onto verbatim DVD-R using a superdrive.
On the finished product there are several glitches that look like dropout of some sort ie. blockey distortion. It only seems to effect the video and not audio. It also seems to happen near the end of the disk. I have buned several copies and each one has the same problem but at different points. This makes me think that it's the actuall type of DVD that I'm using as my output media. If so can anyone reccomend a type of DVD. I dont get this problem with simulator.
It's a live music concert so I haven't compressed the audio.
    It's a big file - 4.3gb mpg2, 107mins approx.
Would this have anything to do with it.
Another quickie, is how much does AC-3 compression affect the audio in terms of file size and quality. What AC-3 setting should I use for optimum size/quality.
It's already late for release and I'm starting to loose my mind. Help!

Where do I reduce the data rate and what settings ahould I use for this?
I did mean to keep the vision as is, and just replace the sound with an .ac3, which would lower the overall data rate by about 1Mbps. I'd assumed you were about to try this! See lots of previous posts - search for 'bit rate too high' et c. Hopefully, this should mostly sort out your problem.
..been advised that it could be the burn speed set too high causing ..
Have a look at the thread burn speed
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=514623
...does the disk quality affect a final product?
Yes it does. Find a brand partly by trial & error for your burner; but do use a named branded product. Verbatim & Ritek are good starting points.

  • Burn tool effect still happens when painting with low opacity/flow

i posted this before, and it wasnt resolved. i figured i'd wait for an update for it to be fixed. i'm using a samsung galaxy note 10.1, and i just downloaded the 14.2 andrioid update, and the problem still occurs. please fix this issue. photoshop touch could be the most useful app i own, but, as it is, it is completely unusable for me. when will the next update happen, and will it attempt to fix the brush opacity/ flow burn issue? The more time the paint brush remains unusable, the less familiar i become with photoshop, and the more familiar i become with autodesk sketchbook. I want to like photoshop better, but for now i just could not recommend it to anyone seeking to use it for digital painting.
the dark spots on this image were made without any change in my brush color. i simply made a lighter touch, with the pressure related opacity control on.

So, I realize I'm answering my own post, but just in case anybody else has this issue, this might be helpful. Tonight, I went into task manager (using a galaxy note 10.1...which, in turn, is running on android 4.0.4), touched the RAM manager tab, and pressed the "clear ram" button. i started up photoshop, opened a project that's been pending for some time, and the burn effect was no longer happening. At very least, it was no longer happening at a very noticeable level. So that's my solution. Clear your RAM every time you're about to open Photoshop.

  • 75C CPU temp while CD burning...help

While copying some files to my CD-R, CPU temp in my corecenter jumped 75C and I got the warning beep.  I did set the max CPU temp alarm to 75C in corecenter as it is the max temp specified for my processor in the Intel website.  Here are temp reading:
Room Temp: about 15C (cold here right now in LA)
CPU temp: 75C (idle is about 50C)
    Sys temp: 30C
I don't know if it has something to do with my CD burner as it is an old one (4x4x32).
I still have my old PSU by the way (the one in my sig not yet installed):
    current PSU specs:
    300W
    +3.3V (28A)
    +5V (30A)
    +12V (15A)
    combined power (+5 and +3.3): 180W
Is the PSU a factor regarding the CPU temp or could it be my CD writer?  I'm currently installing speedfan BTW and see if I get the same result.

Thanks Dave...got it working.  Now regarding my other question, is the PSU has any effect on the CPU temp?

  • Interlacing problems with iDVD Preview and burning - comb effect appalling.

When using iDVD to burn content onto DVDs, I suffer from "comb effect" interlacing related problems both in the iDVD Preview and with the final product played on a computer. I have yet to play the disc in a "real" DVD player.
I am editing HDV (60i) footage with FCE 4, exporting (both interlaced and de-interlaced - same problem) to 1920x1080 HD at a Quicktime movie, and then importing the clips to iDVD.
The clips are short (under 10 minutes) and play back perfectly on Quicktime.
Once imported to iDVD, the iDVD Preview displays (especially with motion scenes) four areas of horizontal jagged edge areas, which are spectacularly distracting.
    Here is an example:
    http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u4/praxisuniversal/InterlacingProblem.jpg
I have tried various settings using iDVD, but have not been met with success. In other, similar discussions, people have had luck with other software programs, but I am reluctant to spend great gobs of money if the Apple Discussion Brain Trust can find a way to circumvent.
    Thanks!

Check out the JES Deinterlacer website and see if it helps. http://www.xs4all.nl/~jeschot/home.html

There's probably some logical explanation, but I haven't

It's such a minor little detail. I suspected it would be

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4 Blend Effects HELP !!!

hey is there someone who know how to view already applied blend effects the bad news is that I have the portable version and there is no other file except the .png file what I create with saving the layer ??? please help [removed private info]

portable version of what? Photoshop? there's no such thing (pirated copies don't count). And in case that you're talking about the Portable Network Graphics (PNG) file format, Photoshop flattens the image when saving to it so there's no way to recover the applied Layer Styles

I have burned another project with menus succesfully..

    Hi
FIRST check that your Play Movie button in your menu has NOT an Auto Action selected that make it plays automatically your movie when the Menu loads. You'll find that setting in the Advanced tab of Inspector. If not . . .
You can try a workaround, no matter that if you have your Menu as First Play it must work. Try yhis:
    - Create a simple black JPG file i.e. in Photoshop
    - Create a Slideshow
    - Add a the JPG to the slideshow, set duration 2 secs
    - Set the Slideshow as First Play
    - Set Slideshow End Jump to your Main Menu
    Build and burn again.
