Bonjour error message: Network Error (dns_unresolved_hostname)

I have a  NAS drive on my home network. I used to be able to access it through Bonjour but recently it's stopped showing and Bonjour returns the following message:
   Network Error (dns_unresolved_hostname)
Your requested host "xxxxx.local." could not be resolved by DNS.
For assistance, contact your network support team.
The NAS drive continues to show up in the Finder, but I need access through Bonjour to perform certain admin maintenance and configuration.
Any ideas how to solve this issue?
My system: PowerBook G4 (OS 10.4.11) and Western Digital My Book World Edition NAS (1.5TB), both connected by ethernet (not wi-fi) to each other via wi-fi base station.

I tried to change the DNS locally on my network card (couldn't find anywhere to do it on the homehub) but I still have same issues.
Whats even more strange is, today I managed to connect via FTP even tho I am getting DNS error from browser.
I've just tried your site using BT DNS servers and Google DNS servers, and both give the error in your posted title.
I tried a proxy, and it goes through alright.
It could be due to a change made by the hosts recently, and may not have reached all the DNSs yet. I notice that this still works :

    Hello,
    Please refer to the link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/67/be9442572e1231e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
It is an article on Fully Qualified Domain Name. ABAP systems required the URL be fully qualified and have a properly formed domain. You can change the profile parameters as suggested in this help link and add an alias to your DNS so that your server is accessible via the full domain name.
    Hope this helps!

  • Network Error (dns_unresolved_hostname) - Connect...

For the last 2 days I have been having big problems connecting to my own personal website.
I am 100% sure its not a problem from my website hosting end. I contacted my host and they confirmed the server is up and running ok. To be sure I have also setup a service to monitor the up-time of my website and its also confirmed that my website is up and running ok.
Yesterday the problem started with random messages from my browser saying:
"Sorry, the website www.swtorowned.com cannot be found"
At random times throught the day I could access it.
However today the problem has got worse with me not being able to connect to the website once. Now I keep getting the error message:
    Network Error (dns_unresolved_hostname)
Your requested host "www.swtorowned.com" could not be resolved by DNS.
For assistance, contact your network support team.
Can anyone provide any insight to what might be causing.?

3G.  I keep getting an error message "Network not available".  This is after turning data roaming ON, and even after turning phone off then back on, and having a 3G signal.  Help!

I did ask my carrier - twice.  I also went into the Apple Store (45 miiles away), who checked it and assured me no hardware issues.
I went back to the phone carrier - for the 3rd time.  The assistant rolled her eyes and said this happens all the time.  She changed the cellular data network settings on my phone from ideate to mobile.  Problem solved!
Carrier has also now offered a refund for the time without coverage - but I had to ask about that, and resist their attempts to change me to a more expensive contract.
Hope this helps anyone else.  Thanks razmmee209

  • Bonjour error - "other person's computer may be unreachable"

I am having problems sending iChat messages to other users running Leopard over our local network. I get this error:
    Bonjour error
Instant Message connection failed. The other person’s computer may be unreachable.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get around this?
I can iChat with Tiger users with no problems.
    Thanks,
    James.

Make sure the other computer is on the Same LAN and in fact the same Subnet of a LAN if there are subnets.
Subnets are created when you use a second routing device and have one or more computers each side of it.
    EXAMPLE
Routing modem <-> Computers and a router with that router <-> more computers.
The? "more computers" will not see the first "computers" as in the same Subnet.

I checked my Services console and Bonjour was started. I can also stop and start it without issue. I searched for these errors, but most of what I found was trouble getting the Bonjour service to start and as you can see, this is not my issue.
I have also tried to update iTunes with Bonjour stopped and disabled and with my Eset NOD32 Antivirus software disabled, but neither of these steps made any difference. I do not have a third-party firewall on my PC, but I am using Windows firewall. I have also tried disabling the Windows firewall, but this made no difference.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    More information:
Found this in the System log in Windows Event Viewer. There are many occurrences coinciding with the times I have been trying to update iTunes and/or Bonjour.

  • 1. iPodService (32 bit)  2.  BONJOUR error 3. Unistall and use my id on new computer

Hello I have two issues. First is the line I have.  I keep getting the "iPodService (32 bit) stopped working and was closed message.  I have rebooted, I've looked on line and have tried to get the correct answer.
Second question:  I keep getting the Bonjour error message.  They may be related.
LASTLY.....  I can no longer check all of my songs in iTunes.  Half of them are greyed out.  I still play them but there is something wrong.  I can say this all started when I installed the new Norton Antivirus and removed the McAffee.
OK, I lied, one more question.
I have 3 lap tops.  All are mine and I use for personal work and photos.  My husband put my daughters iTouch on one of my systems.  I have tried to uninstall his information and use have it as mine (since it is my computer).  I uninstall and re-install, and continue to get all of the junk he installed on it.... Barney cartoons, Sponge Bob, etc.  I don't want them on my system and want my library on it.  Any suggestions.
With that, we can't get her iTouch to download on to her system.  It states she can't because it is on another system............ Ok, those are my issues and would love any guidance available.

    >
My application uses the provider for the web app and references a version of the Oracle.DataAccess.dll 2.112.1.0. which we use for the build process. When we deploy a release package we also deploy this dll as up until now it has seemed to be compatible between the different versions as we also have some customers still on 2.102.2.20 of the oracle client and ODP. You can't deploy that DLL. If you do, your program will see it and try to use it first, which means that DLL will then call whatever version of Oracle is on the machine. If they're not compatible with each other (and in this case they're not), then it's just not going to work.
Once the managed provider beta comes out I'd take a look at that, as this sounds like the exact scenario it's going to fix. You can just include it and your program will use that for it's Oracle connections no matter what native client is installed (or even if there isn't one).
In the mean time if you want people using 10.2 to be able to use it, you should probably be referencing 10.2 when you create it. If you have a reference to Oracle.DataAccess.dll but don't include it, the program will look for it in the GAC and use the version on the machine instead.

  • Itunes  not updating bonjour error

Itunes not updating bonjour error (the older version of Bonjour cannot be removed)

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Wide-Area Bonjour error in the logs

I took a look at the logs, and noticed the following line repeated MANY times:
    Apr 11 11:59:53 Severity:3 Wide-Area Bonjour error for "TC.mymobilemename.members.mac.com." (-65537).
    futher down, I see this:
    Apr 11 12:00:01 Severity:3 Wide-Area Bonjour error for "Wireless\032Capsule.smb.tcp.mymobilemename.members.mac.com." (-65537).
    Apr 11 12:00:01 Severity:3 Wide-Area Bonjour error for "Wireless\032Capsule.adisk.tcp.mymobilemename.members.mac.com." (-65537).
    Apr 11 12:00:01 Severity:3 Wide-Area Bonjour error for "Wireless\032Capsule.afpovertcp.tcp.mymobilemename.members.mac.com." (-65537).
I removed my real mobile me name and replaced it with mymobilemename.
What is this error? Yes, I have entered my Mobile Me credentials into the Time Capsule, and obviously this is related to that.
I can't ever seem to hit my TC when I am outside my home network, so clearly it's related.
I am running the latest updates of the Airport Utility and the latest firmware on the device.
    How to do fix this?
    thanks.

I have same error and don't know what to do.
    Thanks

  • I am unable to install the newest update for itunes and quicktime because of a bonjour error about path not being located

I have windows 7 and I have been trying to install the newest update for itunes and quicktime but I keep receiving the same Bonjour error. I even tried to do it manually and no luck. I also tried to unistall bonjour but it would not even allow me to unistall it either. No matter what I do I get the same error listed below:
The path C:\users\owner\appdata\local\apple\apple software update\bonjour64.msi cannot be found. verify that you have access to this location and try again or try to find the installation package "bonjour64.msi" in a folder from which you can install the product bonjour.
I would greatly appreciate any help because this appears whether i am trying to install the updates or remove bonjour to reinstall. I am stuck.
    Thank You in advance!!!

The path C:\users\owner\appdata\local\apple\apple software update\bonjour64.msi cannot be found. verify that you have access to this location and try again or try to find the installation package "bonjour64.msi" in a folder from which you can install the product bonjour.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on 25 June 2010. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
