Bonjour issues

Previously had iPhone4 working to allow iTunes Synch and Backup. Got notification to upgrade iTunes, ran and it crashed, downloaded - installed and it crashed, have wasted 4 hours trying various web posted soltions none work. Need to get clean itunes install so I can recover files to new iPhone 5C. Something called Bonjour interrupts install itunes, states need 64 bit version, they provide a link to www.apple.com/support/downloads/bonjourforwindows.html and this page only shows issues everyone else if having with Bonjour. Cannot delete or uninstall Bonjour 32 bit version and cannot install new itunes version.

Have you tried the below solution?
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
Remove any 3rd party software which uses Airprint features (such as Fingerprint by Collobos)
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support  (if it does not install, then continue on)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or by right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
For Win/7. You may need to depress and hold the CTRL & SHIFT Keys while right clicking the Itunes file to RUN as Administrator.

  • Windows 8 and Bonjour issues

I have an Epson NX415 printer scanner connected to an iMac running OSX 10.7.5 through USB. The printer has been shared and I can print from several devices including a Macbook Pro, an iPad, and older Macbook. My wife's previous computer, running Windows 7, was also able to print. She now has a new laptop running Windows 8. I have installed the latest version of Bonjour on this machine. When I try to add the printer through Bonjour, I get the message "You do not have sufficient access to your computer to connect to the selected printer." I have tried everything I can find on the internet and nothing works. What am I missing?

Im not sure that will solve the issue I have with itunes. I have a lenovo laptop and I think it's just an issue with Apple who has to modify the program for users of Windows 8 so that itunes can be used and to find purchased music. I found the music I purchased through itunes but it's not the full tracks. It said it allows me to download it fully so I can hear the whole track, but needs some kind of capatibility? I have no idea what the problem is. If someone has the answer knowing my computer brand and having windows 8 compatibility issues, please let me know what you suggest.

  • Can't install iTunes 10 due to Bonjour issue

I have been issued new iPhone 4 from my employer. I needed to upgrade the version of itunes - and i can't due to the inability to remove the old version of Bonjour. I have searched the internet and completed numerous suggestions, including deleting and re-installing itunes. Now I don;t have itunes and can't get it to install. I have tried everything.
Is there anyway to "start from scratch"? This has consumed too many hours today and I have hit the total frustration point.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated

b noir is probably asleep now as he is in New Zealand.
It is possible that you would get a more precise error message by trying to uninstall bonjour your self, but there are a couple of things that b noir may have been thinking about.
    1) the bonjour service can't be stopped. For that you could try disabling it in Services or preventing it from loading with MSConfig.
2)The uninstaller is damaged, for that you need the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility.
Unfortunately The Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility has been with drawn by Microsoft because of compatibility issues with Microsoft Office so you will need to find a copy elsewhere – the installer is msicuu2.exe. You need version 3.
    Google msicuu2.exe download
mydidgitallife has a copy of version 3
Check for malware before installing it.
You may need "Run as Administrator to Run it.
Use it to remove the entry for Bonjour.

    Hello all,
I am having issues setting up Apple TV with Cisco SA520W router. I have activiated Bonjour under Bonjour Configuration. I have also unblocked multicase traffic. However, still my iPhones and iPAD are not seeing Apple TV, nort Apple TV sees any of the devices.
All of my devices are going over the wifi. Could anyone help.
    Thanks,

did you ever figure this out??

  • WLC 5500 Bonjour issue

    Hi,
I have a WLC 5500 with image 7.0.98, and I can not use bonjour services.
My broadcast and multicast are enabled.
    Ethernet Multicast Forwarding............... Enable
    Ethernet Broadcast Forwarding............... Enable
    AP Multicast/Broadcast Mode................. Multicast   Address : 235.0.0.1
    IGMP snooping............................... Enabled
the only thing that makes me crazy, is that I am migrating from all the network 3com, to CISCO, now all my switches, and routers are Cisco, my new wlan is CISCO, but for some reasons I have to use for a while the old wireless 3com infraestructure, and I dont have any issue like this in 3com wireless.
I really does not what to do.
    Any idea???

Just curious.. Since we are using Multicast - Multicast mode..make sure the Multicast routing should be enabled on..
    >>  MGMT interface and AP manager int's int VLAN where the routing is happening
    >> VLAN on which the AP are lying
    >> VLAN on whihc the clients are on.
Ex - If the Management and the AP manager is on VLAN 10 and AP are in VLAn 20 and CLients are on VLAN 30, then on VLANs 10, 20, 30 the multicast routing should be enabled..

  • Bonjour issues in restoring itunes

My itouch 1st gen crashed while deleting apps to make room for more music.  All attempts at restore/reboot failed.  Itunes 10.5.... (latest) would not load due to some bonjour msi? issue missing files etc.  I also could not download an older version. I found many other people with this issue.  Please advise how to reinstall Itunes so I can restore my itouch.  This has become a multiplex problem!  Thanks John

    Hi HarshadR,
According to your description, your restored report server database can be recognized in Reporting Services Configuration Manager. Right?
In Reporting Services, for upgrading a report server database manually, we can just go to the Reporting Services Configuration Manager, open the Database tab, select a database, add click apply, report server will upgrade the report server schema automatically.
In this scenario, does it throw any error message when you apply the restored database as report server database? We suggest you drop the restored old version report server database and restore again, then apply it as report server database in SSRS 2008R2.

  • Bonjour issues preventing Apple TV from showing up in itunes?

After hours of trouble-shooting and trying out pretty much every fix suggested in this forum and others to make my brand new AppleTV show up in iTunes I think I found something useful. Apple TV uses the Bonjour protocol to make itself known to other systems on the local network. A utility called Bonjour browser shows all the multicasting services on the local network..and voila, AppleTV is broadcasting and showing up in the browser on my MacBook. Issue is, with the AppleTV broadcast I'm getting a "can't resolve link-local name" error message. In fact, I'm getting that error for every device listed in the Bonjour browser. Another tool that I read about in a blog (Bonjour Conformance Test) fails to complete the test (probing failure).
I know more about Bonjour now than I ever wanted to know but still feel completely clueless. Hey, these are APPLE products, this is supposed to be EASY Any ideas what's going on here?
    DANKE!

I wouldn't worry about the 'can't resolve......' message, the fact that the browser application has seen the tv means that the tv is advertising it's services. Bonjour does nothing more than this, it does not enable or allow sharing, it merely advertises that a device can share.
It might be worth checking that itunes is also advertising it's sharing properly, you should be looking for something like itunes DAAP, which is the protocol itunes uses to share its library.
Moving on slightly, I recently did some tests and found that it is possible to stream to 3 tv's and 3 other macs from a single library, to cut a long story short, this doesn't fit in with my understanding of DAAP which limits sharing to 5 devices. My conclusion is that itunes doesn't use DAAP to share with the tv. If this is correct itunes needs to advertise another sharing service over bonjour specifically for the tv, so you should see another service advertised in the application you are using, let's say itunes-appletv, although it is likely something different.

  • E2000 bonjour issue

I have an E2000 router that has an intermittent issue where Bonjour drops out. Suddenly my Apple TV won't see my computers, and my iPad won't see my network printer. This happens whether the Apple TV and computers are connected via wired or wireless interfaces.
Restarting the devices does not solve the issue.
Restarting the router solves the issue (until it happens again...)
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
My router is version 1.0, with 1.0.04 firmware.

hmmmmmm... what settings did you do on your router?
Try setting the wireless channel to 1, 6 or 11.  or try adjusting the MTU size.  here's how set the MTU size:  http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&vw=1&articleid=386
If none of that works, you could reflash the router's firmware.  by that I mean, try reinstalling the 1.0.04 firmware.  That's how some people in the Forums have fixed their router.
You could also try the tips here:

  • Unable to upgrade or uninstall iTunes (Bonjour issue, it seems)

Attempting to install the latest version of iTunes on Windows 7 64-bit, I get the following error:
    http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii40/shane256/first-error.png
So I navigate down to where the file is:
    http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii40/shane256/file-browser.png
and select the msi there and get this:
    http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii40/shane256/Untitled.png
After searching around on the 'net, I found some information and ran the MSIs by hand, including a log of an attempt at removal and got this:
    Action start 20:15:03: RemoveExistingProducts.
    RemoveExistingProducts: Application: {877924AA-E044-4266-B37D-E974CD799934}, Command line: UPGRADINGPRODUCTCODE={C19D4D8F-4433-4F6D-9F0C-79589FD0B973} CLIENTUILEVEL=0 REMOVE=ALL
CustomAction returned actual error code 1612 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)
Error 1714. The older version of Bonjour cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group. System Error 1612.
MSI (s) (14:D8) [20:15:27:209]: Product: Bonjour -- Error 1714. The older version of Bonjour cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group. System Error 1612.
If I try to remove iTunes using Add/Remove software, it tells me that it isn't installed. If I try to install using the update, it can't remove Bonjour. I can't remove Bonjour using Add/Remove, either. I've tried to find a package from the version that's installed (9.1.0.79) to see if that will help but I can't find any but the latest version.
So, my iTunes installation is currently dead in the water. Any ideas?

I tried... and this is what happened...
I first started installing iTunes to see what registry key it would give me. It gave me this:
    http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii40/shane256/first-key-2010-06-26.png
So using that other post, I followed the directions in the images. I eventually found the key and tried to open the Permissions and got this:
    http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii40/shane256/no-permissions.png
I clicked "OK" since it said it would let me edit it anyway. This is what I saw:
    http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii40/shane256/no-users.png
No users at all... so I added Administrators for the local machine and set to full control:
    http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii40/shane256/full-control.png
Then click Apply but get this:
    http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii40/shane256/access-denied.png
So I can't modify the permissions.
I get the same error trying to open every key underneath there (inside the red box):
    http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii40/shane256/all-keys.png
What registry keys are those? Can I delete them and iTunes reinstall them?

  • Another Bonjour issue

    Hi all,
I need hel pin configuring Bonjour on a 2504 controller with 7.5.102.0 fw.
The controller is connected to a 2960S switch with 15.0(1)SE2.
The antennas, all AIR-LAP1242AG-E-K9, are connected to this and other 2960 (same sw).
I followed step by step this documents:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps4570/products_tech_note09186a0080bb1d7c.shtml (only multicast-muticast suported by my Wlc)
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/technology/bonjour/Bonjour_Deployment.html
    But without success.
Now i'm fighting with the manager that says that is impossible that on his home 30$ access point works and on our net not... you can immagine
    Thank you,
    Claudio

Since you are usng WLC 7.5.102.0 firmware here is most upto date deployment guide for this feature. Hope it is useful.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/technology/bonjour/7.5/Bonjour_Gateway_Phase-2_WLC_software_release_7.5.html
Regarding the last comment, Apple introduced this for home/consumer environment where you will work with single vlan (or unmanaged home grade switch) using link local multicast feature (mDNS). Since then users demanding to bring those sort of thing into enterprise environment (consist of multiple l3, restrictive, etc) and all wireless vendors try to support it & it is not straight forward as of home environment. That's why even Cisco improving this feature satring from 7.3, 7.4 & 7.5 codes, still may not perfect how you want it.

  • Problem Updating ITunes (Bonjour Issue)

So, I just bought a new Ipod Touch, and need to update my Itunes to the latest version in order to sync my music. However, when I try to do this, I get this message:
“The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package ‘Bonjour.msi’ in the box below.”
Problem is, there is no “Bonjour.msi” anywhere on my computer, however it still says Bonjour is installed on my computer. I get this same message when trying to uninstall Bonjour or download itunes off the apple site. Can anyone help? Thanks.
Oh, one more thing. I have seen on other sites that the "Windows Installer Cleanup Tool" is supposed to fix it, however I cannot download it as I have Vista, and the tool only fixes windows up to XP. (i've tried downloading it a few times and getting error messages each time)

What error message are you getting on your CleanUp install, sachs?
If it's an 800A0046, try the "Run as administrator procedure from the following document:
[Error "800A0046 - Permission Denied" when installing the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility in Windows Vista|http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/170/1/Error-800A0046---Permission-D enied-when-installing-the-Windows-Installer-Cleanup-Utility-in-Windows-Vista.htm l]
If it's a different error message, let us know what it says.

  • Itunes 7.7.1 Bonjour Issues

I upgraded my Windows XP SP2 computer with Itunes 7.7.1. Prior to the upgrade I Was able to see all computers on my network and connect to them. After this upgrade I am now not able to see any computers. Under the preferences tab for sharing I click it and it says Bonjour service has been disabled. Please restart the service to share. I checked under MSCONFIG and the services tab and it is on and running. I tried to uninstall bonjour and reinstall, as well as uninstall and reinstall Itunes, and still with no luck, I cannot see nor sign into any other libraries on my network. Please help?? Thanks.

Is the characateristic common to all the tunes that won't syncy on your Nano that they were purchased prior to your downloading iTunes 7--by any chance? That's what I'm experiencing. Error message says "I'm not authorized to play these on this computer." I'm beginning to think it's because I may have purchased them from Apple when I was using a different user name and now it does not recognize this user name as being "authorized," even though I have gone through all those deauthorized/authorize steps under Store. Don't let the Genius Bar guys tell you it's because you're in a Windows environment. I've seen similar postings from Mac users as well.

  • Bonjour issues on HH3

I've just recently upgraded to a HH3 (Type A Version 4.7.5.1.83.8.57.1.3) for a HH2 and I can now no longer use my ReadyNAS Duo to do Time Machine backups from my Mac.
If I disable and re-enable Time Machine on the NAS I can get backups to work for about 1-2 minutes before the Mac says it can no longer find the NAS (I can start the backup in those 1-2 minutes and that backup will complete). Looking at the network it appears that the initial Bonjour announcement gets through but subsequent ones are blocked.
Doing some digging around on the internet this would seem to be because the HH3 blocks multicast and the recommended solution to this is to ditch the HH3 and buy another router that actually works. I'm pretty peeved at that thought, having just bought the hub from BT. In my mind it is not fit for purpose.
I've tried BT tech support, but they are about as useful as tissue paper in a thunder storm when it comes to anything beyond press the reset button and hope the problem goes away.
I suspect a Type B may solve this problem, but tech support have refused to swap my hub for a Type B.
Has anyone got any thoughts on how I can solve this problem.
A very disgruntled and soon to be ex BT customer....

why not go back to the HH2 if it worked for you

I'm trying to share my libraries on different PCs.  I have turned Home sharing on in "File", but if I try choose the sharing tab in "Edit", "Preferences", It says Bonjour needs to be activated.  Where do I do this?

  • ITunes update not working due to Bonjour

I'm trying to install the latest update for iTunes, and I keep getting an error message saying something like "the feature you are trying to use is on a network..." (can't remember the rest) and basically it's asking me to choose another location that bonjour.msi is in. The folder is right, the program is there, and it's still not working. As a result, I can't finish the update, I can't access iTunes from my start menu or any icons (I literally have to right click an mp3, hit open with iTunes, and then have it open from there). My iPod is still syncing, but it's not even recognizing my iPhone because it also gives me an Apple Mobile Device Driver error, which I assume is connected to the Bonjour issue, but maybe it's not. HELP. I have already installed the latest version of Bonjour Print Services like I saw in a recent Bonjour thread, but that did nothing for me AT ALL. I'm getting very frustrated with the entire thing because I haven't deleted a thing or changed anything about my computer, and this update is making me beyond angry.

Me three....what's up with iTunes tonight, is there a server problem?  Anyone called Apple???
