Bonjour on Windows Vista Business (Epson Stylus Pro 4800)

I've installed Bonjour 1.0.3 on Vista Business.
But the print stuck on about the half page. I think, Apple has to update Bonjour for Windows Vista.
Do you have another idea?
Best wishes.

The printer dialogue will only show printers connected (either physically or wirelessly) to your Mac.
There's got to be a simple answer to this as your Mac should find the printer. Epson has a Lion driver, so your printer should work.
Try a different USB cable and / or plug the printer into a different USB port on your Mac, then switch your printer on.

  • Bonjour with Epson Stylus Pro 4800

I can't connect the Epson Stylus Pro 4800 with Bonjour.
Bonjour detects the Printer but after a few seconds there comes this message:
    Error: -9672

    Shame on me! :-O
Still... it seems the -9672 error is attributable to the Printer in all the cases I've found, but a very few have been able to cure it by downloading the Instaaller/Driver from the Manufacturer, rather than using the ones on the CD.

  • Problem printing from cs6 photoshop to epson stylus pro 4800 printer

Has anyone had trouble printing from cs6 on a mac running lion to a epson stylus pro 4800 printer?   I keep getting an error message saying  "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents.""   The computer sees the printer just fine and has the latest driver installed. I have removed it and reinstalled it many times . I need help with this.

Yes, the menu items are not unavailable. We were already aware of the "Reveal Arrow" issue under OSX v10.5.3. The most important print menu items such as "Print Settings" and "Color Management" are simply not present. As previously stated we've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest (v3.66) "Universal" print driver on both hosts and all of our client Macs. A resolution to this problem is very urgent as our semester begins this week and currently students can not print their next week assignments.

  • Epson Stylus pro 4800 on my iMac.

I am attempting to use my Epson Stylus Pro 4800 on my new iMac (OS X 10.7.3).  It is connected by USB. No luck.  I have installed the driver 14360.dmg however I am still unable to set up the printer.  When I go to add printer no fields are available and the printer is not listed?  Am I missing a step?  Do I need to add more software?  The disc that came with the printer says it includes drivers, not software.  Help.

  • Problem with printing (Epson Stylus Pro 4800)

All of a sudden, my black and white photos are printing in sepia tone.  I have Photoshop CS3 and an Epson Sylus Pro 4800.  Interestingly, in the printer profile drop-down menu, it used to say "Pro 4800 PLPP".  Now it defaults to "Working RGB - sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1".  I suspect it has something to do with Color Settings... but I didn't change anything.  Please help!!!  Thank you in advance.

  • Epson Stylus Pro 4800 Printer Sharing Broken

We have 2 Epson 4800 printers, each attached via USB to it's own dedicated iMac (Intel OSX 10.5.3 w/ Epson SPR4800 Universal Driver v3.66). The iMacs have printer sharing turned on. The printers are shared across our ethernet LAN to approx 50 other Mac workstations. Over half of those are PPC G5 PowerMacs the rest are Intel MacPro's. All are running OSX 10.5.3 with the latest Epson 4800 Universal Driver v3.66.
Our problem is most of the printer control menu items are missing from the print window when client Macs attempt to print from Photoshop CS3 using Photoshop color management.
We've tried unstalling and reinstalling the lastest universal driver both on the host iMacs as well as the client PowerMac's and MacPro's. Any comments on why this happening and suggested remedies would be much appreciated.

  • Epson Stylus Pro 4800 with 10.7.5 - yellow printouts

Since getting a new imac I am unable to get a good printout. all the printouts are yellowish, with red flaring and type is green (see images below). I first thought my print heads were clogged due to lack of use but I had it serviced and the nozzle check and alignment are fine now. I have checked and rechecked the setting. Tried different settings. I have reinstalled the driver. I still have the old computer and now that also produces yellow printouts. Could it be the cable I'm using? I have a USB connection which I thought was a firewire at first because where it plugs in to the printer its more squarish rather than traditional usb retangle. There is an unused port that is larger that I'm not sure what its for? Perhaps there were 2 options for connecting the printer and I need to try the other one?  Could it be a compatibility issue between the new computer and old printer? Could there be a glitch that I need a patch for? I've been working on this all day and I'm stumped and can't find information online or at Epson. Please send any information you may have.

As has been suggested in your other thread, most printer software includes a 'clean nozzles' command, but I would add that you should all replace all your printer ink cartridges since you said that they haven't been used for a while, as they will probably keep clogging.

  • Epson stylus pro 4800 prints very yellow prints

No combination of the settings in Print dialogue, or "Print Settings..." dialogue seem to generate anything other then a dramatically yellow cast image. Photoshop on the same computer, and all tests on the PCs print normally. Other people on this list have said they can print consistently between Photoshop, Aperture and the 4800.
So is there anyone here who has a 4800 that is working for you so that I can find out what the missing piece.
    Thanks

No combination of the settings in Print dialogue, or "Print Settings..." dialogue seem to generate anything other then a dramatically yellow cast image.
All other things being equal, a yellow cast could occur (1) if the gamut mapping in the ICC profile for the configuration of the printing system (hardware behaviour + inkset + paper) is compensating for a bluish tint in the paper, caused by optical brightener in the paper, by shifting the graybalance in the image towards yellow, and (2) if some other paper than the paper intended in the ICC profile were loaded. In this scenario, the compensation in the graybalance, which would appear neutral on the intended paper, now appears as a colour cast in the graybalance. Colour appearance, including graybalance compensation and softclipping in shadows (as opposed to colorimetric linear clipping) is part of the gamut mapping in the printing table, 0 Perceptual.

  • Networking Epson Atylus Pro 4800

I have a Firewire Epson Stylus Pro 4800 on a G4 running OSX10.2, this is on an ethernet network connected to 3 MacPros. I've just upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6 and can no longer see the Epson on the network. As Appletalk is no longer supported on Snow Leopard, is there a way to connect to the Epson? I've tried adding an IP printer using the G4's IP address with the Epson print driver, but no luck.

Contacted EFI who have said that 10.6 is NOT supported, nor are Intel macs. I will need to upgrade to EFI Express or downgrade the MacPro to 10.5.

  • Epson Stylus Pro 9800 errors on 32-bit Windows 7 with Adobe CS4

Epson Stylus Pro 9800 errors on 32-bit Windows 7 with Adobe CS4
Question: We are experiencing some major errors with printing to our Epson Stylus 9800 Pro. Some of our large files are spooling about 16K, then crashing Photoshop. Sometimes we are getting partial prints (the left most 3-4 inches of print, or the file starting to print about 1/2 way into the file itself), sometimes it just spools for a few minutes, then stops, with nothing coming from the printer at all.
At Epson's request, we have tried the following:
    reinstalling Windows 7 print driver
    Reinstalling Adobe CS 4
    Installed NEW NIC in printer
Installed new network line to printer
Installed new main board on printer
Printed from a PC directly connected to printer via USB and crossover cable
This issue is very bizarre in that it is random and sporatic. Same file will cause one of the above errors, then, another attempt to print same file will be successful. We have several Windows 7 machines that get the issue, while several Windows XP machines are fine. Epson instructed us to install the newest (win7) driver on the XP machines, issue then affects XP machines. Uninstalling new driver and re-installing old driver on XP machines resolves issue on XP machines.
Is this an issue with the Epson driver? CS4 on Windows 7? Or some other malady?

  • Acrobat X Pro advertised as compatible w Windows Vista Business

I just purchased Acrobat X Pro and it was advertised as compatible with Windows Vista Business.  I tired to install it and kept getting an error telling me my system was insufficient to run Acrobat X Pro.  I checked the specs again, I icheck the computer configuration and everythin was within spec.  i called tech support and they told me that I had to upgrade to Windows 7.  Now that I have acquired a serial number I am told I can not return Acrobat X Pro so I am stuck with a product I can't use and looking at another $200 to upgrade to Windows 7.  I am very unhappy.  I have been a Adobe used for many years including previous versions of Acrobat Pro I am a user of Creative Suite and Photoshop also.  Adobe used to be a great company with great products.  Now it looks like I'm SOL if there is no solution to this issue!

I strongly disagree with what you were apparently told. Folks have been running AAX on XP since it came out and VISTA is a step above that. There are three things to consider when you do the install: 1. Log in as an administrator; 2. Empty the TMP folder; and 3. disable anti-virus. If you continue to have problems, please try to capture the error (screen capture) and post that here.

  • Epson Stylus Pro 3800 - reporting an issue

I have an Epson Stylus Pro 3800 connected via Ethernet which is recognized by Bonjour.
When I tried to add this printer, the driver was not recognized as I was presented with "Select Driver to Use" for "Print Using".
I then went to the Epson support page and found Printer Driver v3.5cE which has Mac OS X (v10.5 - 10.5.x) listed. After downloading and installing, I am presented with "EPSON SPro 3800" for "Print Using" but when I "Add" the printer, I get the following error message "An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer. Error: -9672"
I am testing this out on my Powerbook G4 before I actually install Leopard on my production machine.

After uninstalling the Epson driver, installing the Epson drivers (1.5GB) from the Optional Install package (which didn't contain the driver for the 3800 but you can't know until after you've installed the optional drivers), and reinstalling the downloaded 3.5cE driver, I was still given the error.
Bonjour doesn't work, but IP does. By selecting More Printers and then selecting Epson TCP/IP, the printer showed up in the list and I was able to add it to my list of printers without the error. The Supplies button in the Printer Queue window doesn't work but Epson's utility can access the printer and get the ink levels, etc as usual.
It appears to be a CUPS bug. In the cups/access_log, I noticed the following lines while trying to add the Epson printer:
    localhost - - 27/Oct/2007:16:46:57 +0800 "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 75 CUPS-Get-Default client-error-not-found
I have just printed a high-res photo on the printer, a photo I printed using the same printer/sharpening/settings/etc only a week ago. I compared the two photos and there are no discernible differences. My Epson is accessible and working

  • Printing to my Epson Stylus Pro 3800 (Grr...)

    Hi All,
I'm a fairly recent convert from Windows and I LOVE my Mac for everything EXCEPT printing to my 3800.
I have always had a problem with my Epson Stylus Pro 3800 printer on my Mac. The two just don't seem to get along. I've wasted countless pages of expensive paper and what seems like gallons of ink trying to resolve this issue, but I'm getting nowhere. I've ruled out physical problems with the printer - it works flawlessly on the three PC's I've connected to it (via usb).
Until this evening I was using the Epson drivers for this printer. They were flakey at best. I would get random 'communication errors' that could happen at any time during a print - start, end, somewhere in between or, if I was lucky, not at all. Having had enough I went looking for a solution (again) online tonight and stumbled across Gutenprint 5.2.6.
I've been able to install the drivers successfully by following the documentation but I can't get the printer to print via USB or IPP. Using usb, I get a message in the print queue 'backend USB Failed' and the printer goes into a Paused state. Using IPP the print job apprers to spool and queue reads 'Connecting to printer... ' for a while then returns with 'Unable to connect to printer; will retry in 30 seconds..'.
I believe the IPP is failing because the print queue options in the Gutenprint setup. The install says to leave Queue blank for the default queue. I tried that - it didn't print.
I browsed to the embedded 'EpsonNet Config' page in the printer and named what they call 'printer name' as printer. I presume that's the queue that the gutenprint driver wants, but I still get the same result.
When I look at EpsonNet Config, the IPP URL is http://192.168.9.166:631/printer.
When I look at the Printer Setup on the Mac, I see
    Queue Name: 192_168_0166
    Driver Version: 5.2.6
    URL: ipp://192.168.0.166/printer
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm frustrated beyond belief with this problem and really could use some help using either the Epson drivers or Gutenprint drivers - I just want some consistent output.
Thanks in advance for any clues you may be able to offer.

I have been using an Epson 3800 with my I Mac for four years and up untill I upgraded to OSX Lion the only problem I had was colour issues associated with some ICC profiles. After upgrading to Lion and downloading the latest OSX update (10th May) I could not print.
One of the problms was that the print settings continuously defaulted to:
    Page Setup: Sheet Feeder
Media Type: Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster
I would change the settings to what I wanted, I saved them selected Print. My printer promptly started changing from Matte ink (what I had set my print setting s for) to Photo Black.
After trying all i could to correct this. I finally gave up and rang the Epson Helpline. After 3 telephone calls over a day and a half during which I was talked through the procedure you described, the problems were still not resolved.
My contact on the Epson Helpline then tried to simulate the problem on his MAC. He discovered that he had the same problem the print settings would not save, albeit on a Epson 3880 driver. He then advised me that the problem was not with thw Epson Drivers it was a MAC/Apple problem.
I then rang the Apple Helpline (at £1.35 a minute) described the problem and was eventually put through to a supervisor. Who asked me to send her a set of screen shots describing the problem, This I have done, I have received an acknowledgement of receipt and have been advised that I should get a response within two working days.
    I am waiting hopefully.
I have tried to print both via CS5 and Aperture the problem is the same in both instances.

  • Epson stylus pro 4000 & Mac OSX & Photoshop CS6

Has anyone been able to produce acceptable prints using an Epson Stylus Pro 4000 on a MAC with OSX version 10.8.2 and Photoshop CS6?   I have recently converted from Windows to MAC and made the jump from CS3 to CS6, so I have many moving parts.   I have Colormunki and have calibrated the monitor and created a printer profile for my paper.  My basic question is -- Am I missing certain settings or steps to correctly color manage and produce good prints, or do I need to buy a newer Epson printer because it is just not compatible with the MAC and latest photoshop?

Thanks Charles and Sir-Leto.  I'm not using Colormunki. But I have been printing using Photoshop and choosing "Photoshop handles Colors" for many, many years with terrific results. As soon as I updated to OS 10.8, the colors were immediately off.  The only way I have found to get the colors to print close to normal is to choose "printer handles colors" and print using "adobe RGB" under the color options. This option is not ideal, but its getting me a lot closer to my normal output.  And other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • Epson Stylus Pro 5000 & Leopard

Can I print directly from my MacPro 3GHz to my network printer Epson Stylus Pro 5000 and get top quality results. I used to have it setup using my old PowerBook G4 Ti laptop running OS9 and Stylus RIP Software.... but I purchased a new MBP with Leopard on it so I gave my PowerBook Ti to my father with Tiger running on it. I see in the support notes that Leopard comes with Gimp drivers for the Stylus Pro 5000, but when I add the printer and GIMP drivers to my print network the quality of the printouts is by no way near what it was when running the Stylus RIP software on my old OS9 laptop... does anyone have a similar problem? I was going to just go away and buy another more up to date printer e.g. the Epson R2400, but the 9 ink cartridges at 13ml each sounds very uneconomical to run... and besides... there's nothing at all wrong with my Epson Stylus Pro 5000 with 110ml cartridges... I just need to get it to work using Leopard on my MacPro 3GHz.
Any comments / ideas most welcome...
    Yours sincerely,
    Irish MacUser & MacAddict

Hi there Kappy and thank you for your excellent suggestion... on arriving at the website I could see it held the perfect solution, but I could not see my printer listed on the supported printers list... so I have emailed them to see if it may be a pending supported printer.... but thanks again for your excellent suggestion... I have it working direct now without a RIP using the Gimp driver... but it's painstakingly slow and the colour matching isn't as good as it was using the proper Epson Pro 5000 Driver with the Epson Stylus RIP software...
Always something in the bloody business...lol..lol
    Thanks again...
