Bonjour Services could not be stopped

I've had it with the stupid bonjour services. I have searched for countless hours for a solution, and even emailed the head-honchos. But it was "out of their field." A message pops up during installation, and says, "Service 'Bonjour service' (Bonjour Service) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficent priviledges to stop system services." Can someone help me???

That can sometimes happen if the BonJour service is jammed in an odd state. Let's check on that.
In your Start menu, right-click "Computer" and select "Manage".
Expand "Services & Applications".
Open "Services".
Maximise the window to better see what is going on.
What is showing up for you next to the BonJour Service under Status and Startup Type? For example, mine says "Started" and "Automatic".

I then tried playing music previoulsy pruchased music and it still wouldn't play. So far I have removed Itunes and Bonjour and then reinstalled them, but I am still recieving this message. • Error 1921 Ipod Service could not be stopped

I am trying to install Itunes 7.6 + Quicktime. On the download status screen it says Status: Stopping Service. The green activity bar stops and after awhile an error message pops up that says - Error 1921. Ipod Service could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services. It says retry and cancel. Pushing retry only results in the same error. I don't know what this means.

That can happen sometimes if the iTunes installer is having a hard time shutting down either iTunes or QuickTime (or applications using QuickTime) prior to the install. So let's try a "download, restart, then install” strategy.
    Leave any iPod unplugged.
Download and save a copy of the iTunes installer to your hard drive. (Do not run the install on line, and do not start the install by clicking on the iTunesSetup.exe (installer) file just yet.)
    Latest iTunes Installer
Shut down running applications and restart the PC.
Do not open any other applications prior to attempting the iTunes install. Switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.
Does the install go through properly this time?

  • I'm getting this error: Service "iPod Service" could not be stopped

When does this error message appear to you? (i.e., what were you doing that caused it to occur?)
If you're going to Task Manager to stop a Process called "iPodService.exe", you may need to go to an administrator user account on your computer to stop the process in Task Manager, not under a limited-account.

  • Error 1921 acrobat update service could not be stopped upgrading from 9 to 10 or 11

The installers uninstall 9, looks like it's about done, then is trying to stop adobe ARM service and can't so it fails. I've run the AdbeArCleaner to try to get a fresh start, but it seems like I've broken something, and I hate being stuck 2 versions behind...

    How about this workaround-
    Download AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.00/en_US/
    execute the command below:
    msiexec /i [Path to AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi]  DISABLE_ARM_SERVICE_INSTALL=1
    DISABLE_ARM_SERVICE_INSTALL property described here
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/AdminGuide/properties.html?highlight=arm %20service
Without Service you will not be able to install updates in full auto mode (depends on your OS and UAC), but you sill be able to update in other modes.

  • "Error 1921. Service '***' could not be stopped"

    Hello,
After a few crashes from Ni MAX and troubles detecting by GPIB devices, I thought it would be a good idea to do a few updates on my VISA drivers, NI488.2, etc.
But when I run the NI update service on these, I get an error message ressembling the image below. Only thing different is that it complains it cannot stop the NI Lxi discovery service instead of the Ni mDNS Responder service. I then tried to run the Ni repair utility on MAX and a few relevant software modules like VISA and 488.2, only to get the error displayed below.
I tried running the command "net stop niLXIDiscovery" in a cmd prompt with no success. It simply tells me that the service is already stopping...
FYI, I have both LabView 2013 32 and 64 bit installed and both TestStand 2014 32 and 64 bit installed. I only use Ethernet and GPIB to communicate with my instruments.
    Thank you!

    Hi christianb,
In the list of services that can be accessed from the Contorl Panel, what is the startup type of the NI LXI Discovery Service? If it is automatic, would it be possible to change the type to manual and restart the computer? This would allow us to stop this service after the reboot of the computer and to continue to use the Update Service.
Are you the adminstrator of this machine?

  • SCOM 2012 Data Access Service could not start

    Hello,
I have 3 SCOM 2012 servers. I got the error that the All Managament Server Pool is not available. Google search give me a lot of posts to add folder PoolManager at HKLM\System\CurrontControlSet\services\HealthService\Parameters with the DWORD keys PoolLeaseRequestPeriodSeconds
600 and PoolNetworkLatencySeconds 120. After restarting last SCOM server the Data Access Service could not run "Windows could not start the System Center Data Access Service. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a
    timely fashion"
At Operations Manager Eventlog I see an error: "OpsMgr Management Configuration Service failed to communicate with System Center Data Access Service due the following exception: System.Runtime.Remoting.RemotingException: Unable to get ISdkService interface.
Please make sure local Sdk Service is running."
At System Eventlog I see an error: "A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the System Center Data Access Service service to connect."
Why did it run on the both other servers and failes on the third one? What can I check?
    Regards, Doreen

    Hi,
According to my understanding, after editing the registry key value, two of three management servers work fine now, and the issue only occur to the third one. Whether all those servers are running with Windows server 2012?
I would like to suggest you re-check the service account for the data access service, maybe we can re-enter the account credential. Those three servers may use the same account for the service, make sure the account is not disabled and you enter in the right
    password for it.
Here is a similar thread, please go through it for more details:

In addition, please also restart the third server and check the result, and I know that there is a similar error message in SCOM 2007:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/csstwplatform/archive/2012/01/02/scom-2007-r2-unable-to-open-the-scom-console-after-server-reboot-the-sdk-service-is-stopped.aspx

  • SOLUTION to THE WINDOWS INSTALLER SERVICE COULD NOT BE ACCESSED...Vista x64

I spent the better part of a month looking for the solution to this. My mom recently purchased a new computer that came with Vista Home Premium (64bit) preinstalled. Although we were able to install all of her other programs that were 32 bit, when we downloaded the 64bit Itunes from the website we received the error:
"The Windows Installer service could not be accessed, This can occur if you are running Windows in Safe Mode, or if the Windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."
I tried everything from unregistering and then re-registering the msiexec files in both the system32 folder and the sysWOW64 folder. I tried editing the registry and changing the windows installer imagepath to the SysWOW64 folder. I tried running it with UAC on and then off and from the true Administrator account, etc....nothing solved the issue.
Finally, the other day I was searching the problem out and came upon this blog:
    http://blog.thinksharp.nl/
    I changed the key
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSIServer\WOW64
    from a 1 to a 0.
I then stopped and restarted the Windows Installer Service by using services.msc.
After this approach, Itunes and quicktime finally installed without a hitch and my mom is finally able to use her Ipod again.
Just wanted to post this as it might help others that are having the same problem. There are many postings elsewhere on the net about this issue with just as many solutions...none of which worked for me except this one.
    Thanks!

Wow! Thank you so much for posting this. I have been crazily hunting for a fix to this using Google search. Guess I should have visited this forum instead as that would have save me some time!
