  • Russian Bonus Depreciation

    Hello,
For the Russian bonus depreciation we have tried to follow the configuration steps according to note 944927 but the configuration entry for the last step (Customizing for Financial Accounting -> Asset Accounting -> Information System -> Country-Specific Functiond -> Russia ->Investment and Improvements) is missing in our IMG. The highest installed Support Package is SAPKH60006.
Allthough we have tried to configure new depreciation keys for the bonus depreciation, this only works in association with linear depreciation methods. If we use non-linear depreciation methods the system calculates incorrect annual depreciation values.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
You don't need to create a special depreciation key for MACRS depreciation. If you are using the US depreciation chart, the key is already there. You do, however, have to set the calendar to the correct dates. But the standard depreciation key M200 works just fine. If you are not using the US depreciation chart, copy it in a testing environment and pull up depreciation key M200 in tx AFAMA and copy it from there. In this case, you would also have to adjust the calendar. I hope this helps.

  • Full Bonus Depreciation irrespective of DPIS

    Hi All,
We want the Full 50% Bonus Depreciation to be taken for the first year irrespective of DPIS, we want this only for Bonus Depreciation and not for the actual Depreciation for an asset having STL Depreciation Method, so we do not want to change the Prorate Date.
Is there any way to achieve this other than using unplanned or override depreciation. This link Re: How to Calculate Initial Depreciation Allowance for Assets? looked very relevant but the solution is not outlined. Please need your help and advise

  • Bonus Depreciation for subsequent acquisitions in 2010

    Hi all,
We have done bonus depreciation for 2010 and 2011 aand its working fine but for one scenario.
Assets acquired in 2009, had bonus depreciation calculated for 2009. But when there is subsequent acquisition in 2010, its not calculating bonus depreciation for the 2010 acquisitions. We are not using any sub asset concept but are adding to the original asset.
Please let me know how to ptoceed ahead.
    Thanks a lot in advance,

    Hello Jay-R
I have the same question the multi level method maintained as below
My requirement is I need 50% reduction on the asset addition therefore for the year 2015 it should be 500 in reduction since there is 1000 addition to the asset. Please provide me your input on how I can achieve this.

  • Bonus Depreciation for the year 2010

    Hello Gurus,
I need to configure for the bonus depreciation based on the newly enacted US law 2010. The requirement is, for the asset purchased between 3rd Jan 2010 through 07th Sept 2010, the bonus depreciation need to be calculated @50% as special depreciation. The balance need to be depreciated as ordinary depreciation for 2010 and the remaining periods. For the assets purchased between the period 08th Sept to 31st dec 2010, the bonus depreciation need to be100%.
Please let me know the step by step configuration that need to be done for:
    1. Depreciation key M20S.
    2. The base method to be maintained
    3. The multilevel method
    4. The period control method for depreciating the values for the above mentioned dates
    5. The bonus depreciation need to be calculated only for 2010 and should not be calculated for 2011 and onwards.
Also please let me know if there is any SAP note for 2010 Bonus depreciation calculation
    Thanks in advance.

  • Bonus Depreciation

    11.5.10.02
    Hi all,
I need your input from you experts. My tax laws required for a 20% bonus depreciation in the first year along with the regular monthly depreciation. However, when the asset is place in service the middle of the year the application doesnt calculate the full 20% bonus depreciation in stead it is porate among the remaing months left in the financial year.
Ho do I set the my Tax book to allow for full 20% to be calculated on the assets no matter which period in the finanial year the asset is in service?
Please your ideas are more than welcome.

Well, the only thing I can think of is to look at the bonus depreciation rule assigned to the asset. Maybe the wrong rule has been assigned to the asset? Or the rule has been set up incorrectly? You would really have to supply detailed information about the bonus rule setup in order for us to give you any good responses. Otherwise we are merely speculating, which means you could be off chasing down dead end alleys and not figuring out the issue. There is no proration involved in the bonus depreciation rules window, but you do define a from year and a to year. So maybe from year is 1 and to year is 2? Don't know. Could be possible that you have run across an Oracle programming error. If the bonus rule looks ok, I would suggest reporting this to Oracle support.

  • Bonus depreciation Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 for FY Apr-Mar company

    Dear SAP expert,
I tried to apply bonus depreciation by referring SAP note 1148489. But in some cases, I have a problem.
Our company's fiscal year is Apr.-Mar. Not Jan.-Dec.
I registered a test asset of acquired on 3/31/2008(eligible bonus dep.) and assigned depreciation key which is configured for the bonus depreciation to the asset in the master data. But when I tried to assign the dep.key, system shows error message.
Another case, asset acquired on 4/1/2008, system looks working properly.
I guess the system needs different configuration if company fiscal year is Apr.-Mar.
Could anyone help the above issue?
    Yoshi

    Thank you for your comment.
Is it multi level method? If so, I tried both 2008 and 9999. But it did not work same error(E651 SYST: Depreciation key ZTX1 is incorrect).
    The definition is the following.
    Acq.Year:2008
    Years:0
    Per:1
    BaseVal.:01
    Percent: 0.0000
    Rem.Life: blank
    Reduc.: 50.0000
Our system version is 470 Enterprise.

  • Special/Bonus Depreciation

    Hi,
There is one asset on which special/bonus depreciation is applicable say @50% each year. Depreciation is calculated at the end of year. Both ordinary dep and special dep. are calculated correctly.
Now there is further acquisition in the next year to the same asset. At the end of 2nd year, when the depreciation is calculated, ordinary dep is calculated correctly but no special dep. is calculated.
The company is using declining bal. method.
What can be the error. Can anyone help me out.
    Regards.

    Hi
Acq yr. 2010 / no. of yrs 1,
Acq yr 2011/ no. of yrs 1,
Acq yr 2012 / no. of yrs 1,
With the settings that you have done above - you have told the system that for the Acquisitions done in 2010, Spl Dep is to be calculated for only 1 year.... Same for 2011 and 2012....
Thats the reason system is not calculating it in the 2nd year and onwards... If you want it to be calculated, Change the 1 to 2 or desired no of years.. If you enter 999, then it will be calculated each year and every year

  • India Tax Depreciation (group asset)

    Hi FICO experts,
I'm having some problem with depreciation calculation for group assets to adhere to India IT Tax Depreciation  regulation. As per IT law,
      1. asset acquired <180days shall be depreciated at 1/2 of the depreciation rate for the fiscal year
      2. asset acquired >180days shall be depreciated at full rate for the fiscal year
I've created depreciation key with period control NL and IT, and configure 2 depreciaiton area i.e 01 for book and 02 for tax depreciation in India COD. 02-Tax depreciation is configured as managed at Group asset.
I created 2 Assets i.e Asset A and Asset B and both linked to Group Asset C. Say the depreciation rate is 15%
    1. Asset A - Acquired on P1 of 2008 --> INR10000
    2. Asset B - Acquired on P9 of 2008 --> INR10000
A & B are linked to Group Asset C in 02-Tax depreciation area.
When I view Group Asset depreciation, I noticed that the deprecition for 2008 computed as (1000015%)+(1000015%). Thus, although Asset B is still being depreciated at full rate of 15% instead of half of the rate.
Besides, is that normal that I'm not able to see depreciation at Asset A and Asset B in tax depreciation area 02 when they are managed at Group. I can only view the deprecation at Group asset C?
Appreciate help if anyone have similar experience. Thank you in advance.

    WJ

    Hi,
If you want to adhere Indian IT laws then follow the below mentioned steps:
    1. Maintain a relationship of 1:1 of AS01 & AS21, means when you create a new normal asset it should be tagged with a new group asset.
    2. Try to use SAP standard delivered dep. keys.
    3. Change asset value date determination in SPRO.
    4. Tagged group asset into the normal asset master.
    5. Check tax dep.figures under group asset.

  • Depreciation on Asset for current period..?

    Hi Experts,
i have a question regarding depreciation on asset. My fiscal year is apr-mar. Suppose i purchased asset(Ex:machinery) this month(december). So from When can i run depreciation on that particular asset.?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Regards,
    Rajesh.

You have really asked two questions, and I don't know that the answer for both is the same throughout this world.
1  When must statutory depreciation start for taxation purposes, such as for the IRS regulations if in the US?  This is probably NOT depreciation area 01 in SAP, but a derived area maybe.
2  When must financial accounting depreciation start, such as for US GAAP or for IFRS rules.  This usually involves depreciation area 01 in SAP, plus other DA's for revaluations and/or for subsidiary company financial reporting in other currencies.
Probably both are when the assets are placed into service, or some other consistent project milestone that approximates in-service dates.  But check with your accountants/auditors for DA01, and check with your statutory tax personnel for non-financial areas.

  • Depreciation on assets with asset shutdown

To stop depreciation on assets with the 'asset shutdown' our test asset still shows planned posting of .01 one month and -.01 the next. Is this due to configuration of the depreciation key? Or, is there a program to make 'planned' equals 'posted' to zero out these pennies. Deprecation should no longer post once the asset is shutdown.
    Thanks,
    Mark Ashabraner

    Dear Mark,
We have this same problem, after configured 'shutdown' indicator in depr key and asset master (we are using multiple depr area, with different depr key in the depr area), we found that the asset still depreciate for +1/-1 for some of the period (after the shutdown period), and it only happens to certain depr key in the same asset. It looks like the +1/-1 posting is caused by some rounding difference in the depreciation calculation (maybe straight line with remaining value), but the concept for shutdown should be no depreciation at all during shutdown period. Just wondering if you already found solution and would like to share, as we are really desperate. Thanks.

  • Bonus depreciation valid till 2010

    Hi gurus,
I am still learning AA. I got business requirement to make bonus depreciation valid till 2010 where right now it is valid till Jan 2009. Please advise steps that need to be done to extend the bonus depreciation. <Please do not solicit points for answers >

Search the blogs.  Nathan Genez wrote explicit instructions on how to configure depreciation keys that will calculate "bonus" depreciation for the U.S.

  • Post depreciation by asset

    Hi Guys.
Is there a way of posting depreciation by asset in a specific depreciation area?
I mean, we wanna have acc. deprec account x expense deprec account for each asset in AFAB process.
Even having many, many, many, bseg lines.
Here in Brazil we have an area to control CIAP and my customer wants clear monthly postings with that one posted on acquisition.
    Best regards.

    Hi,
SAP standard does not allow you to do so, you are not allowed to
select assets for individual dep postings  when you are
    doing "planned posting
run" in AFAB. Individual assets can only be selected for posting in repeat run. Here
    system will allow
you to post a repeat run only
    for the periods for which
    planned posting run has
    already been done.

  • Reverse depreciation for asset wise

    Dear SAP gurus,
Is it possiablity to do reverse depreciation for assets wise. Please suggest me.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sai

    Hi,
In standard it is not possible.
    You have workaround for this.
1.Change the depreciation key assigned in asset master
2.Copy transaction type 640 and choose debit transaction radio button. Next go to ABAA and give the new transaction type and amount(depreciation amount) to reverse.
You can choose any one option from the above.

  • Posting Unplanned Depreciation when asset net book value is zero

We recently transferred some assets from one company code to another.  However, when they transferred, the depreciation all reversed out YTD.
We are now trying to post the YTD depreciation back in under the original company code, but when we try posting unplanned depreciation, the following error message appears -
"In area 01, you can only post manual dep. up to the amount 0.00"
I believe this is because the asset does not have any net book value now.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this?
    Many thanks,

    Hi Susan,
do you have the option to reverse the transfer postings? If so, you could specify another period control for transfer postings (such as fiscal year start, etc.) in your depreciation key, with which you can influence how much depreciation is left back respectively transferred.
It is correct that you can´t post an unplanned depreciation on the sending asset now, because the net book value would go below zero. As unplanned depreciation does not influence the ordinary depreciation in the year of posting, this value below zero can not be adjusted with a reduction of planned ordinary depreciation.
I am wondering which effect you´d like to have on the sending asset. Did you post a complete retirement? If so, there should be no APC left which you can depreciate on the sending asset. And as the net book value is zero already, which effect do you want to get? You have to keep in mind that the non-depreciated APC will be continued to depreciate (normally) on the receiving asset. But maybe I misunderstood the problem here ...

    Markus
