Bought a book through the iBooks app. Went to read it today and it disappeared.
Now what?

I just upgraded my mac book pro to snow leopard, now my I photo library dissappeared

I am a novice in all things technical and I need some help figuring out my I photo library. I bought my Mac Book Pro in 2009 and shared/transferred all information from my G5 (2004) to my laptop. I Photo was also transferred and I have started to add more photos to this laptop.
I just upgraded my mac Book Pro to Snow Leopard and now when I open my Iphoto library it shows some of the library but now all. My husband said it is still there but the system is not able to look in the right place due to the sharing...so I am totaly confused?????
WHen I go to the Information it syas it is Where: /users/shared
Under sharing and permission it says: You have custom access
vivianlie read and Write (but this is in light gray)
Everyone (also in light gray)
NOW: My old and faithful G5 all of a sudden is telling me this morning that in order to open I photo I
need to upgrade to work with this verion of I photo
Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of I photo after the upgrade.
What should I do now?

On you MBP try the three fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #3
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
On your G5 make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and run the same 3 fixes.

Address book has dissappeared

If you open the ADDRESS BOOK it states "NO ADDRESSES". Names that are in my address book still show up on caller ID when sending or receiving calls, text or emails. it must be hidden some how. How in the world do you recover it?

You probably have a filter applied to the initial view...click the BBKey and select "Filter"...make sure that nothing is checked.

Yea, there is no standalone app for facetime. Select a contact, and at the bottom is an option to facetime call
There is an app that is free called facedial for facetime
By the way, there is a free IOS 6 book available for download in the Apple bookstore.

How do I restore the contacts in my IPhone? They dissappeared after I did the update.

After I did the update, my contacts comletely dissappeared and my email locked up. Any help would be appreciated. I contacted Apple, but they were not of much help. The Icloud was not of help either.

Do you have sync contacts with the Address Book on your Mac selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes?
If not, this needs to be selected.
If you want to replace contacts on your iPhone with what is available in the Address Book on your Mac, select Contacts for replace info on this iPhone under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences followed by a sync.

Shared user contacts in Outlook Address book

Hello,
     I have an issue that a user who is an administrative assistant wants her bosses shared contacts (which she helps manage) to show up in her personal Outlook Address Book, so that she can send people contacts by just clicking the TO: button. This is has proved deceptivly difficult. Any thoughts?
     Oh, this is an Exchange 2007 SP1 server, and both of the client pcs are Outlook 2007.
    If we can get that up and running, she would also like to be able to export his contacts from her terminal in the CSV format.

Has anyone had any luck with Will Shepherd's/James-Luo's method or something similar for use with Microsoft's Office 365 Exchange 2010 system?
I followed the steps and, indeed, on my Admin/User A's OL2010, the address book did list the shared contacts. But as soon as I selected it, it gave the error:
"The address list cannot be displayed. The contact folder associated with this address list could not be opened; It may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove this folder from the
Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft Outlook Help."
The shared contact folder then dissappeared from the list.
I didn't really understand Will's step 2 which James does not include. I don't know what "Full" mailbox rights meant. The permission levels shown are Owner, Publishing Editor, Author, Nonediting Author, Reviewer, Contributor, and none.
Setting it to Owner did not work, as in the profile, I could not change the email address back from Boss/User B to Admin/User A. I chose Publishing editor and added a check mark for Folder Contact.
I tried these methods on numerous new OL profiles and got the same results whether the shared contacts where the the first set or a secondary set and whether or not I sent invitiations for sharing from Boss/User A, which sets the permissions.
What good are shared contacts, Microsoft, if you can't use them? This seems like such a basic issue that, surely, I and others have a major misunderstanding about something.
If it matters, this client does not have Sharepoint and only has the Office 365 Plan 1 with its mailboxes.
I would greatly appreciate any hint on how to make the contacts sharable and USEABLE. Otherwise this client will likely scrap Office 365 and I will reinstall Sync2 which worked fairly well.

Why is my address book not Syncing with ipad / iphone..

Seems to be syncing with icloud, however, no icloud account was setup, also, have no prefs for icloud as I'm running OS 10.6....
Why can't I just sync the address book to the devices directly, btw, itunes 11 *****!

When you make changes in AB, quit Mail for the changes to be added to Mail's database file. Reopen Mail and try it.

Adress Book lost addresses after sync

I have synced my Address Book through Missing Sync with my Blackberry and noticed that most addresses which I had given a picture have been deleted from my Address Book on the Mac. There is no way to get these addresses synced back and even some of them have dissappeared completely (both on phone and mac). I do have Time Machine copies but I was wondering if there is a solution to only import certain addresses from my Time Machine backup as I don't want a complete restore where I would loose a lot of the new addresses.

Contacts are not stored as vCards within Address Book. Address Book maintains its own contact database. When you delete a contact from Address Book, that record is deleted from the database. If you haven't been backing up your contact data, then I'm afraid it's gone.
Did you not ever use the built-in backup function of Address Book (File > Export... > Address Book Archive)?
Using a computer without any backup system in place is just asking for trouble...

Mac book hangs at macx_swapon SUCCESS

Hi all, need some help here please. Recently put Lion on my Mac Book and not it has crashed for the second time. If I try to boot in safe mode the progress bar dissappears aone 1/3 of the way through and then nothing else happens. when I do the Verbose mode it gets to macx_swapon SUCCESS and then hangs again (at least I have no way of telling if it is doing anthing else). I can get to the disk utility with the recovery and every time there are permission errors to be repaired (the same ones). the disk itself appears to be fine, no errors. I have a time machine backup but it's a week old and I urgently need the files I used more recently. Is there a way to boot the computer without doing a full system restore?? All help is greatly appreciated

Hello - I've been having a similar issue (MBP 2009, Lion 10.7.1), though I've not gotten further than you in the safe mode start up process (still going...). I was able to confirm that my HD seems to be ok - or at least can read files - by connecting by firewire to an old MB Pro, start the old maching holding down T until you see the large firewire symbol on screen.
Then start up newer machine and holding down Option. Select the drive of the old machine as the startup disk (with firewire symbol - and note I tried starting up with the Recovery HD startup and it wouldn't work after giving it a considerable period of time to try).
You should then be able to see your current Mac's hard drive, though in my case it didn't show up right away, be patient and it should be there.

Address Book kind of works, kind of not

I just noticed that when I try to edit a contact in Address book, all of the info dissappears until I click done then it comes back. By edit, I mean add or subtract fields...when I simply type in fields the info stays on screen.
ideas?

Yes, I found incidentally that you have to type the year pretty fast otherwise all kind of strange things might happen!

ICal and Address Book have stopped syncing

For some reason, iCal and Address Book have stopped syncing between my MacBook and my iPhone. They had been syncing with iCloud but I noticed that some things aren't being updated. My photos are still being synced via Photo Stream just fine.
One other issue, when i go into System Preferences on my MacBook and click on iCloud, it wants my Apple ID password. But when I enter it, the spinning disks spins indefinetly. Doesn't connect. Then when I hit escape, it asks me if I want to delete my contacts or delete them from my Mac. (Yep I'm on the internet.)
I have also gone into Address Book prefs>Accounts and unclicked "Enable this account". When I do, some of my contacts dissappear and they reappear when I re-check it. So it seems like it is still seeing iCloud.
In iTunes I have checked Sync Contacts and Sync Calendars. I got a pop-up dialog box telling me that I didn't need to do that because iCloud wasn handling the Sync. But I checked them anyway. And I can't get them to sync on normal iTunes manual sync.
Any thoughts? I don't mess with iCloud often enough to know what should be happening. Thanks!

Itunes, safari, address book, mail - everything has reset

i recently have had problems with my itunes library, when launching itunes a message saying the librbary was damaged and had it had created a restored librbary. this did not appear in the source list in itunes. albeit my library was still there in the shared folder. affter adding it to itunes, it disappears everytime i launch itunes.
now i have looged on and all application have been 'reset'; my mail account needs reset, all book marks and folders in safari have gone, contacts have dissappeared in the address book. its as if i have just installed again.
whats happened? is it a virus? ...i am lost and frsutrated

Did you change the ShortName of your Home folder?
If so, the info in these links should help you out.

My home folder and desktop are different than before
And your iTunes problem may have been caused by using the Shared Folder.

PM Address Book

Does anyone know the secret to adding names to PM Address Book?
I select Address Book and type in screen name. When name appears on dropdown list I click on it and list dissappears but nothing added to list.
If I click on the Add Contact button it opens simlar screen and go though same process but no contacts are added.
What am I missing?

I had some issues as well with this, but if I used the pop-up to find/select the users, it worked for me.
To do this, click the Select link, and after a few seconds you'll see a little fake-modal dialog which you can search through.

I can no longer read DRM protected books

I have had ADE and Sony Reader for PC for some years without any major problems. Recently I have been having some issues downloading a particular book - the acsm would not download the file. In trying to fix this I seem to have created a far worse problem. One of the fixes suggested was to ensure my computer was properly authorised - but I was unsure of my password on my Adobe account linked to my old email so not knowing what else to do I created a new account. Adobe have now rather unhelpfully removed the DRM from all my legitmately pruchased books. I have been wrestling with the earlier problems for over a week now and this latest hastle is the last straw. My computer is Windows Vista and my ereader is Sony PR1, I thought this would need to be resolved by Adobe linking or merging my accounts but if anyone can help I would be very grateful.
