Book does not recognize TOC

I am working with translated files. After the files returned from translation, the book no longer recognizes the TOC. I need to fix this error without re-creating the TOC.
In the book structure, I noticed two things about the TOC file:
1. Its icon is orange.
2. A path appears along with the filename: "..\FM 10\.fm"
I verified the TOC exists in the same location as the other book files. I can also open the TOC outside of the book, with no errors.
I am using FrameMaker 10 on Windows 7. Thanks!

Usual hack:
Rename the legacy TOC file temporarily.
Have FM create a new one.
Delete it (the new one) with the system file manager (not from FM).
Rename the old one to the same name as the new one.

Font Book does not recognize fonts in /library/fonts

I just did an erase and install. I chose to install extra fonts into the system and this wierd problem just started yesterday. Font Book will not recognize the fonts in the /library/fonts folder. Font book will not even install additional fonts in this state. I restarted the computer and that seemed to fix the problem. But now it's back again. I think it happened after I woke the computer from sleep mode, however the problem does not appear everytime I wake the computer up. I noted the following entries in the system log that seem to coincide with the problem after waking the system.

Well, I'm glad trashing the fonts cache fixed that problem. Font conflicts have been known to totally screw up things like MS Office. Whether or not it could screw up launchd, I don't know. But, if the problem doesn't resurface, then it definitely did.
However, I'd send a bug report on the launchd crash to Apple and include the crash report. Send bug reports and enhancement requests to Apple via its Bug Reporter system. Go to <https://connect.apple.com/MemberSite> and join the Apple Developer Connection (ADC)—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Then, go to <https://bugreport.apple.com/>, click on the Login to the Apple BugReporter link (using your ADC username and password), and file your bug report/enhancement request. The nice thing with this procedure is that you get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering. If your item isn't fixed with a new update, you can fire a follow-up on your original, via e-mail.

Font Book does not recognize some Postscript type 1 font files

I am new to OS X and am trying to copy all of the fonts used under OS 9 (using Suitcase) to be available under OS X. I have copied all of my font folders into the correct location, but some of them do not appear in the font list within Font Book, and if I try to use the Add Fonts... menu to select these files they are grayed out.
The Finder shows all the problem fonts to be "PostScript Type 1 outline font", just as for the files which do work. Is there any reason some files may not work in the Font Book? Note that if the files are corrupted, I don't understand because they were (and still are) working fine under the Classic environment.
I'm not sure, but I don't think any of my TrueType files have similar problems. I have noticed that all of the PostScript Type 1 fonts which do work have an additional suitcase file in the folder, whereas the problem fonts do not. Does Font Book require a suitcase file to properly recognize and use the Type 1 files? I thought that the suitcase only contained the bitmapped fonts which are obsolete to OS X, but that's a guess...
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Font Book can read PostScript fonts. But, as you've noted, you don't have the whole font. Type 1 PostScript fonts are a set. One file is a suitcase containing all of the low res bitmap screen fonts. The rest are the outline printer fonts. As an example, here's Adobe Garamond.

The first file which I highlighted in green is the font suitcase of bitmap screen fonts. The rest are the outline printer fonts.
1) The files for a Type 1 PostScript font must have both the screen and printer fonts for a given set in order to work. They also must be in the same folder.
2) The suitcase of bitmap fonts will work alone, but output will be terrible since the system will print the fonts using the 72 dpi screen fonts in the suitcase if the outline portions are missing.
3) Having only the outline fonts will not work. You will get exactly what you are having problems with. You can see the fonts, but Font Book won't load them. That's not a problem with Font Book itself. No font manager will load outline fonts without the matching suitcase of screen fonts present.

I Book does not recognize I Touch

I have a Power Book 4 with a 500 Mhz Power PC CPU. I upgraded to OS 10.4.11 so I could use my I touch with I Tunes. It does not work. When I plug in the Ipod I get an "unknown error" message. The Ipod comes on, and seems to charge, but is not recognized. I have tried every fix shown on the on-line support pages. Nothing works. Any idea? Could it be the USB ports in this older laptop are not new enough to support the I touch? I look forward to any ideas.

True, but in reality it works okay on my Titanium Powerbook G4 1GHz (also with USB1.1), the transfers are just best done in small parts manually.
Captlusk, are you using the very latest version of iTunes, preferably installed after you most recent OS update? Have you got a USB2.0 card?

Your advice did not help me. I also installed 10.7.4 combo but the situation is the same.
my internet connection is ok, mail is ok, but app store after 3 resets does not recognize my ID and it says "connection is not possible". Why? Question: why mail does not recognize an address book group

i could not find an address book forum - excuse me if i post here.
an address book group with about 20 names has worked well for a year.
today i added and deleted a few names. now mail does not recognize the name as an email group.
i created a new group with a new name and imported all the names in one block from the non working group. the new group also is not recognized as having email addesses in mail.
my other groups seem to work fine.
i had entourage for awhile and had to rebuild it periodically. do i need to do something similar here.

Check the names of your groups that you have this issue with to make sure you don't have any special characters or extra spaces at the beginning or end of the group name.
I just found another posting on the message boards that solved my issues. Someone discovered that they had a blank space in their group name which was causing the error. I didn't have any extra spaces at th end of the group name, but I did have a period in my group name (St. Francis). I removed the period from the group name in address book and now the emails send to that group without the error message.

Ever since I upgraded my MacBook Pro, it does not recognize a DVD or CD of any type when I put it in. I have a store bought DVD, the Social Network, which worked fine before upgrading to OSX operating system. Music CD's were okay then, too. Now, neither is even recognized by the player. Thought maybe it needed to be reloaded, but na't figure out how to do that. This is very frustrating, and makes me start to second guess my decision to switch to an Apple product. Did you change the assigned email address of your account before you tried to change it on the iPad? If yes then you would have to change the ID back to the old email address, then sign out, then change it back to the new address and then sign in again.

VBA Outlook Email Failing: "Outlook does not recognize one or more names"

I use VBA code to send emails from within Microsoft Project 2010 Standard to notify task owners of task status. This code has been working fine until the last couple of weeks. Now I get the error "Outlook does not recognize one or more names".
The VBA code sends email to each addressees internet address. I am referencing the Microsoft Outlook 14.0 Object Library.
I deleted the "suggested contacts" entries in my address book to no avail.
Below is the key snipit of code I am using. I get the error when the ".Send" line is executed.
When I check OutMail.To, .CC, etc everything looks fine.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Help...people picker control does not recognize outlook formated bulk users

Currently out of the box people picker control provides a textbox, User validity icon and a find user book. If there are bulk of users from outlook and paste it, the SharePoint control does not recognize user and cant find bulk
users in the find book directory all at once(need to find user details one at a time) , so I was told to hide the user directory icon and link. Will you please suggest me to on how to hide directory icon? is there a way using JavaScript or Jquery to hide?
Otherwise if there is a way to directly transfer bulk of users from outlook into SharePoint people control works great.
multiple users allowed in sharepoint people picker control however it does not support outlook format in SharePoint people picker.. such as

Nobody has anwered. I have solution and done myself to hide and manage controls on SharePoint list. Key thing here is to map the jquery library correctly and specific version.

Simple JSP does not recognize class(FaqCatagories)

The following is a simple welcome.jsp file that I am trying to run on a local J2EE sever. As you can see it tries to import classes one being the FaqCategories.class which is located in the folder Ch03 of the WEB-INF directory. When I call the page up on the browser It gives me that it does not recognize the FaqCategories faqs = new FaqCategories; class error. I am wondering why(Is the import statement wrong?
