Book Maps Points of Interest?

Is there any way to shuffle the points-of-interests in the dialog box of a map page?  I cannot find a way, and it is very time consuming to have to delete the pois up to the point I want to add a new one.  Then re-enter them again.  Thanks.

  • How Do iOS 6 Map Points Of Interest Get Added to The Map

Really love the new mapping.  Adding Points of Interest (PoI) through some mechanism of croud sourcing would seem to be the way Apple would go.
Would welcome an App that took your location, had an optional photo capablity and stamped out a PoI.  PoI's should be croud sourced into the map by votes (aka Digg ish mechanism).  PoI's could also be voted off the map (Trapster).
Imagine having a million customers out there supporting the PoIs in Apple's Maps...  Maybe there already is such a system / applciation / web site?  Anyone?

I agree, I spent quit a bit of time updating open street map for the town I live in, adding all the car parks, ATM's as many shops as I could, hotels, Bars, adjusting the 1 way streets, adding footpaths  and even adding the bits of grass that would help people find their way. I had hoped apple would use this data given iPhoto started to pull from it.
I would be more than happy to edit the maps around my town, and if certain trusted people were allowed this access it would increase the usablity of the new maps app dramamtically. Currently i use google maps saved to my home screen.

  • Points of Interest at Google Maps

    Hi there,
I would like to know, if i can add points of interest at google maps that isn't recognize by google map.
For exemple; there is a Place at my city, that will be a new House of Music, but if i search for it at iphone's google maps, it does not find it. So, i would like to bookmark or add a point of interest at this place. Is that possible, even without the place exist at google maps database??
    thx in advantage,
    Marcelo França

Wrong answer was given. You can put arbitrary latitude and longitude coordinates into the google maps app on the iphone, just as you can on the google maps website. Try opening maps on your phone and put this address in:
    30.274680, -97.735910
Notice it is smack dab in the middle of Waterloo Park, where I just spent a lovely afternoon
If you don't know the coordinates, try going to the google driving directions website (in a web browser on a computer...the won't work on the iphone), click the driving directions tab, and right click on the spot you want, click Add Destination. Now you'll see the coordinates. There are other better ways to find coordinates too which I'm sure you can find yourself.

  • Points Of Interest on Maps

Is it possible to add points of interest to the new Apple Maps, or does Apple itself have to do it? If it is possible, how can I do it?
    Thanks!

Mapviewer is not rendering the maps with SSO authentication. With out this the map is rendered. When I run the omserver?getv=t I get the following instead of the version number...

  • Point of interest coordinates data clean

Hi everybody. I am a windows phone developer and I have developed an app where users can add point of interest on a map. Many users add the same POI and so I have the same point replicated many times but not with exactly the same coordiates. For example
one can add a fuel station 10 meters before or after another user. I am not familiar with machine learning, before starting to study azure ML do you think is it possible to solve my problem (clear data obtaing ONE poi from MANY MANY similar data) with it?
If yes what kind of algorithm should I look at?
Thanks in advance for your help!

It sounds like your question is that you're getting a bunch of users who are placing POIs within a certain radius of a central location, such as a fuel station.  You want all of those POIs to map to the fuel station, and it's just one POI, not 5
different ones all within 10 meters of each other.  Is that correct?
Could you please help me understand what a "ray" is?  Do you mean the radius, where any POI within the radius would be considered the same POI?
I think the easiest thing to do is to look at the data that you have of all the duplicates and each validated POI.  Sort by the distance and see if there's a dropoff.  For example, if you have 5 POIs, and the distances to your validated POI is
2, 2, 3, 4, and 7, then maybe 4 can be your cutoff point.  Any POI within 4 meters will be considered a duplicate.  Look at all POIs and see if there's a pattern.
I think machine learning may be overkill here.  There are a lot of interesting applications that you can consider in the future, in trying to predict what users are trying to pick.  You can consider what you know about the user, e.g. are they planning
a trip and picking fuel stations?  Then you can suggest fuel stations if they end up picking something down the street.

  • Add points of interest

Is there a possibility, to add Points of interest from e.g. TomTom in the nokia maps?

    Hi jodahush
You can always convert TomTom OV2 to Nokia .lmx format and Bluetooth file to device.

  • Tom Tom point of interest files

    Hi,
I have a CSV file which contains a large list of locations,
which I would like to turn in to a Tom Tom point of interest file.
Does anyone know of a quick and easy way of producing these files
with PHP? or do you know of some software that would be able to do
it as the CSV file will be updated all the time and new locations
added to it so I don't really want to be doing this manually all
    the time.
    Thanks

I don't think theres an automated way to do it.
This page describes the process and offers tools for free

  • Create a Book Map issue

I have been using create a book for a few weeks with maps working perfectly with place names and arrows. Now I get the below. Maps don't display properly in the book or when previewing. They work fine in Places, i have cleared cookies, deleted my preferences file and nothing has remedied the problem....please help!

Try this:   make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try the map page again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If that doesn't help  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists.  If the map page works there then the problem is limited to your current library.  Let us know what you find.

  • Use group Point of Interest

Would it be possible to allow a comunity based POI Feature add on for ovi maps?
Nokia could provide the handling of those POI (Place to store, format for POI, Editor to edit POI etc.)
THe comunity collects and provide groups of POI
Result: My TOMTOM throw out the sound "I love it.." when approaching a MC Donnalds (If I would let Tomtom do so)

  • Mapping, pointing an incorrect url to the correct one?

    Hi All,
Im in a desperate need to point, map, or do something to make one url go to the correct one. So basically, there have been 3,500 copies of flyers printed and gone out with an error on the url! Is there anyway to make the browser automatically open 'www.britanniastone.co.uk/tradequestions.html' when the url 'www.britanniastone.co.uk/tradequestions' is typed into browser??? Its is missing the html part of the url on the flyer.
    Really really appreciate some help!!

  • Book - map font keeps resetting

I have a book that I started in iPhoto '09 and I should have finished it there. Working with fonts has become super annoying. I'm using the Travel theme, and on one of my map pages the fonts won't stay put. I set them the way I need, go to another page, then when I return to the map they're back to Lucida Grande 11pt. Also, if I click and move or resize the map, the place where the location labels are jumps around to a different spot each time... sometimes even trailing off the page or overlapping another label. In some cases, the label even disappears but it's still there because if I blindly click on it, it appears for me to edit, then disappears again when I click elsewhere.
On any other page if I make an alteration to the theme, say change from a 4 photo layout to 3, then the fonts I pick go back to the defaults.
iPhoto '09 was so simple, you picked your own defaults and the book stuck to it... not anymore!
A side note - I already had one of these books printed by Apple, but it came back with 2 photos moved so one was no longer centered and a person got cut off in another. Apple gave me a refund but said it was really my fault. But I had triple-checked everything before sending it. iPhoto seems to be making random changes to the layout, so be careful when you send in your order!

Did you preview the book as described in this Apple document before ordering: iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture. Do it now and see what the map looks like in the PDF file that's generated.
You can contact Apple at 1-800-MY-APPLE  to talk to someone about it.  They may give you a credit on your credit card so you can order again.  But the second time will not be refundable so check it with the PDF file.  Also keep the pdf file to compare with the printed copy when it arrives.
You can do the following to clean up the library before ordering again:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

  • Mapping points on distance?

Does anyone know of java program that can take a matrix of distances between some places and map these places by plotting them?
For example, if I have the matrix
         A     B     C     D
    A    0     12    3      6
    B   12     0     4      7
    C    3     4     0      9
    D    6     7      9      0then I would like to be able to plot the points that represent A B C and D somehow.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Andy

Just convert the points into screen space using simple math.I think the problem is that the OP doesn't have the coordinates of the points. Once you have them the maths is simple - but how do you go from a set of distances between adjacent points to a (plausible) set of coordinates?
In order to be plottable at all - as points in a 2D Euclidean space - these distances have to obey various rules: like AtoB=BtoA, AtoBtoC>=AtoC>0.
Maybe someone has a link to a discussion of an alogrithm for this. You could begin by putting the first two points anywhere. Trigonometry provides two options for the third point (so the resulting maps are mirror images). Then add the others based on some more trig and the distances given to the first three.
    Sorry about the [Edits]

  • Can you sync audio books pause points between devices

    Greetings.
I use different devices to listen to audio books, i.e. iPhone, iPad, Mac Pro...
Is there a way to keep the pause points synced between devises. i.e. listening to an audio book in car on iPhone, getting home, going to your desktop and resuming where you left off on your iPhone.
    Thanks.

Well I feel a little ridiculous now. I don't know why I didn't think of that, thanks
