Book Module Error "Could not contact the Blurb Web Service"???

I have successfully used Lightroom in the past to upload a book with no problems. I'm currently running the most updated version of Lightroom v 5.6. I've just finished a new book and am getting the error message "Could not contact the Blurb Web Service. Check your internet connection." My internet connection is fine, my firewalls and anti-virus are turned off, I've restarted both Lightroom and my computer. Same problem.
My research has shown this is a very common problem, but all the forums I've found do not have answers on how to solve the problem. All the posts I've found about this problem are either unanswered or suggest things like turning off and turning back on "unchecking apply background globally" and other tips related to the background and text, or change the cover style back and forth, etc. None of these has worked for me.
I am ordering this book as a wedding album for a client and it is URGENT that I get the order uploaded within the next few days or I'm going to have to refund the clients' payment and lose the job, which would be extremely professionally embarrassing. I'm VERY frustrated and have very eager customers waiting. PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!

I solved the Lightroom Book Module problem of "Could not contact Blurb Web Service. Please check your internet connection."
With the help of Adobe Lightroom's telephone tech support, a very patient man named Himanshu helped me discover what was causing this issue, after researching the issue and calling me back. Nice touch Adobe! It was pleasant to be able to do other things while Himashu researched and consulted with other techs to find my solution.
As very many other people have reported in user forums, the problem was not that I didn't have an Internet connection.
The problem was caused by my PC's Windows 8 User Account Settings, which somehow had Internet Settings that conflict with the upload to Blurb from Lightroom. The Adobe Lightroom tech support person helped me create a new user account, and I am able to successfully upload to Blurb from Lightroom under the new account. We created a quick test book to try and it worked just fine under the new user account.
Not sure how this solution would translate for a MAC user (I've read of people with Mac computers getting the same upload error) but I advise checking your User Account's Internet Settings, whatever type of computer you are using.
The only minor glitch I still have is that my new Windows user account can't access any of my photo files (or any other files) from my old user account, even when I gave the new user account administrator access. I have a very large internal hard drive, so my photos & catalog are stored internally. The Lightroom tech support advised me to contact Lenovo (my computer manufacturer) for help to transfer all my files from my original user account to the new one I just created. I will do that very soon.
Meanwhile, my temporary workaround was to export my Lightroom Catalog and the photos I needed for this book onto an external hard drive, so I could access them from the new user account. My wedding clients' book has been successfully uploaded to Blurb!
I'm sharing so others with this problem uploading from Lightroom to Blurb may also find this solution works for them, too.

I have no problem with my internet connection 'cause Facebook has no problem connecting to Flickr.
Does anyone have these problems or any kind what I'm experiencing now? And this anyone know a sollution to this.

Solved - install new version available on the web - not an automatic update, but go to Help - Check for Updates - Download new version then install.

  • ALI Search error: "Error - Could not contact the Search Service"

    Hi,
I have installed Aqualogic Interaction with all its components.
While trying to search for a string, it is throwing this error:
"Error - Could not contact the Search Service".
Unable to figure it out. Is this because of the search host settings?
Where can I check/modify the search host settings? I am not able to find them.
Can someone please help on this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ashok

The settings for the search server are located in Administration. Go to the utilities drop down, from here you should see Search Service Manager. Here you should see the contact node host and port.
Make sure the Search Server is running. Also, import the searchcluster.pte file so that the Search Cluster Manager is visible in the utilities drop down.

  • Could not contact the DSCC agent

    Hello,
I'm having a little problem with my DSCC.
    As described here: http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2761/install-bits-zip?a=view
I tried to install the dscc on a sun web application server.
Everything went fine till i tried to install a directory server instance from the dscc web application.
    I got the following error:
Could not contact the DSCC agent on <hostname>. Use the command cacaoadm to check that the DSCC agent is installed and running on port 11162.
    The agent is running:
    -bash-3.00$ ./cacaoadm status
default instance is DISABLED at system startup.
    Current retries count : 0/4
    Processes:
    200
    Uptime: 0 day(s), 18:25
and apparently the connections are established:
    -bash-3.00$ netstat -a | grep 11162

    ***.47734 ***.11162 49152 0 49152 0 CLOSE_WAIT
I tried to re-deploy the war several times and to restart the agent as well, but no sigar !
Anyone got an idea what I'm doing wrong ?

Couple of bugs (6710514 and 6710506) talk about a very similar problem, but no solution. Is any exception thrown for you, on the DSCC popup or in App Server's logs? Does the problem go away when you try it again? Do let us know.

    Hi,
http://mortonor12r2:81/orchestrator2012/orchestrator.svc should be the correct address. Do you have the typo "1012" only in the question or in the connector as well?

    in IE ?

  • "Reader could not contact the server to complete the request" error

While trying to tranfer a document into pdf format I have suddenly received the above error - "Reader could not contact the server to complete the request"  I have already transfered three or four documents today, but now am suddenly receiving this error.  I have tried rebooting my server to check for issues on my end but it is fine.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

    Hi there,
Here are some suggestions you can try:
    a) Ensure your internet connection is available and try again.
    b) If you are using an older version of Reader, try installing the latest (Reader XI) and try again.
    c) Log into the web app (createpdf.acrobat.com) and click on Convert to PDF on the right hand pane and try converting to PDF from there.

    Hi
I have intsalled the plumtree portal.... The links are working. But when i search any word then it gives following error messages
"Error executing search on Plumtree Corporate Portal : Could not contact the Search Server."
Please let me know what could be the solution to above problem
    Thanks

Santosh,It appears that your portal server can not connect to the Search Server.1) Check to ensure that the "Plumtree Portal Search Server" NT Service is running. It will be an NT service. If you check the PlumtreePortal_v5-0.properties file you should see two entries for where you installed the Search service.SEARCH_SERVER_HOST=servernameSEARCH_SERVER_PORT=15244
    2) If the service is not started, then start it...
    3) You can test connectivity to the Search Server by telnetting to server in question at port 15244 (or whatever port you installed the search service on). If you get a response from Ignite, then the search server is up..

  • "itunes could not contact the ipod software update server because you are not connected to the internet" Help?

Hello all, new to the forums.
I've been recieving the error message "itunes could not contact the ipod software update server because you are not connected to the internet". This problem didn't occur at all for the past 2 years of using itunes.
I've already scanned through numerous websites and forums for help, but none of them worked.
This  set of instructions resulted in no change to any of the problems, though iTunes lists that as the supposed solution.
    # Open Internet Options from control panel.
    # Click the Connections tab.
    # Click the LAN Settings button.
    # Select the Automatically detect settings checkbox.
Others include installing IE7, which that didn't work either.
    Can anyone help?

  • 'itunes could not contact the ipod software...' On Mac!

    Hi there!
When I try to restore my new 5th Gen 30G iPod using iTunes, I get an error message saying 'itunes could not contact the ipod software update server because you are not connected ot the Internet'. But I can use the iTunes Store, and various other on-line applications.

I am having the same problem on my mac - is there anyone out there than can help us on this issue?

When I am attempting to register a server. I receive the following error message
Additionally having problems to enable cacaoadm.... any recommendations?
    Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    D.J.

As you can see, the ODSEE cacao instance is running on custom port 21162, while the DSCC tries to contact it on port 11162... which is not available.
also, the error you have here:
    [oracle@ldap-dj bin]$ dsccreg list-servers -h 3998
    Enter DSCC administrator's password:
    Failed to connect to ldap://3998:3998
    3998:3998
    [oracle@ldap-dj bin]$
is pretty trivial: you're trying to connect to a host (-h parameter) called 3998 ... which I guess is not correct; try -h ldap-dj instead

  • Error: Could not contact spell checker

Whenever I open Keynote or any iWork application, or even text edit for that matter, I get the following error: "Could not contact spell checker."
I have looked around on other forums and I'm not the only one to have had this problem, but no working solution has been provided, as far as I can tell.
I have not installed any third-party spellcheck software such as Spell Catcher or CocoSpell. I checked my international settings anyways, and there is no evidence that such programs exist on this computer. Nor do they show up in spotlight. There is no "services" directory in my library.
I tried replacing the "en" file under the "spelling" directory with one from a leopard machine, but no use. (So I put the old one back.)
I can't seem to figure this out. It is a system-wide error that happens with every application that uses spell checker.
Any advice would be really appreciated!

Try making a new user account and see if you are still having problems with spell checker with that user account. You may also want to try posting in the [MacOS 10.4|http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=177] area as it sounds to me like it is more of a system problem then Keynote specific.
