Book module LR 5.7 adding photos and putting text in spine

I'm creating a book in the book module of Lightroom. I imported photos from a collection and used auto layout. I wish to add two more photos. I've added them to the collection, but I can't add them to the book I'm creating. i haven't yet clicked on create saved book.
Another problem I'm having is adding text to the spine of a hardcover dust jacket. I did it once and deleted it. Now it won't allow to type in any text. I've repeatedly clicked on the spine and a yellow box comes up, but I can't type in it.

Many thanks for this, but the photos are not on the film strip. They are in the collection, and they weren’t there when I went to book module and used auto layout for the collection. What I need to know is how to get additional photos into the book I’m creating which weren’t in the original collection.  As to the spine, I’ve tried dragging the mouse to highlight text, but it is isn’t there. When I go to the 1:1 view I can see the spine very large on the screen and there is nothing on the spine.

Here is how to get everything:
iOS: Transferring information from your current iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a new device
To get photos taken by or saved to the iPod to the computer see:

There are different templates for iPhoto books and they differ from version of iPhoto to iPhoto, so explore the other options.

In your description you say the first document opens as the Title you gave it.
Templates always open as Untitled so it sounds like you have saved a regular document, perhaps into your templates folder which is possible.
Since you have already worked on it and it has been previously saved, Lion will now Save for you and Save a Version is available
The other document does open as Untitled so sounds like a real template and as Peggy has pointed out will not have either Revert nor Save a Version until you Save it and have changed something in it.
This is a classic example of just how Apple's supposedly "simplification" of the process, is leading to confusion of what has happened. That the conditions and resulting actions from those conditions is so convoluted says it all.
It all reminds me of the Monty Python Life of Brian sketch with the "simplified" John Cleese instructions to the class, as to if you have a brother in an older dorm whether to hang your hat and bag on the hooks provided. The trouble is Apple does not get the joke, that it is transforming itself into a frequently self contradictory bumbling bureacracy. The price of unchallenged self appointed geniushood.
The incoherent half baked stumbling juggernaut has reached new triumphs with its edict on enforced Sandboxing on developers when it is unable to follow even its own instructions.

  • Function module for detailes description of Order and long text in task

    Hello gurus,
please help me with Function module for detaile description of Order and long text in task list(operation Tab)?
    regards,
    YK

    Hi,
You should be able to read the Order short text directly from table AUFK. The Order long text or task list long text can be read by using FM "Read_text". Use Goto> Header on every long text screen to identify the parameters that need to be passed hen using this FM.

  • Layering photos and getting text up front

I'm finding iBooks Author terribly frustrating.
I am building a photo book where there are sometime two or more photos on a page. When I use the gallery widget and create a text box on top of a photo I can never get the layers to come out right in the preview. I want the photo in the back with the text on top. But even though the text is showing in the application properly I can not get it to show up in the preview. Also, photos (gallery) pushed to the back always are on top even though I have clearly sent them to the back.
Has anyone encountered this and come up with a solution?

The problem is that I have to use the widget in order to get the image to go full screen when tapped. If you can't put text over the image then I will have to use something else to show that that particular image can go fullscreen. Any ideas?
Is the only point of the text to indicate that you can click on the image and it will go fullscreen? If so it may not be necessary as I think clicking on photo to see it full screen is a very common setup for many books and readers will naturally do this.
If you are still worried you can always indicate that the image can be tapped with something like a distinctive border (stroke the image, etc.).

  • A rebuild removed projects from photos and put empty projects in the trash.

I'm running Aperature 3.2.4 in OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) on a MacBook Pro 1,1
I have a large library of 37,000 images on an external hard drive. I have experienced a number of problems which culminated in a corrupted drive and library which I have taken several steps to repair. In an attempt to be thorough, I may be including more info than necessary, but here is my tale.
    1) There have been inconsistencies for some time when deleting photos in the camera (compact flash card uploaded through camera) when importing photos. Occurring more frequently, the photos did not get deleted when I made that selection, most normally with the unmount camera box check. This is a big deal, I adapted by checking the camera when it was unmounted.
    2) I hadn't been emptying the trash in Aperture and accumulated several hundred photos in the trash. Blame it on procrastination and no appearance of pressing necessity.
    3) My camera has developed some problems with the USB port, perhaps getting worn with a lot of use. When importing photos, the camera has recently started disconnecting during the import of photos..
    4) This has resulted in a corrupted drive directory, which I was able to repair with Disk Warrior. It also resulted in photos that were not in the Aperture library. Aperture was no longer able to see those unimproved photos, no matter what drive I was able to copy them to. I resolved the import problem by changing the file name slightly. I assume that Aperture registers filenames before importing, and if the import fails, Aperture is unable to see that the import failed. I have added those files by changing the file names, and my long term solution was to get a CF card reader.
    5) I thought that my problems were solved, but when I opened Aperture today, I got a dialog box telling me that I need to repair permissions, then another about rebuilding the library, and a whole series of failed attempts to do so with a string of boxes suggesting that I quit, rebuild, or repair, all attempts eventually hanging. Disk Warrior tells me that several plists mostly involving changes could not be repaired. After several attempts and restarts, I was able to open the library in Aperture.
    6) The left window was missing a large number of projects, but in photo view, all of the photos and versions were there with the meta data showing a path to the original projects. In the project view, all of the projects were there, but I could not open any by clicking on them. When I viewed the trash contents, there were a lot of empty projects. It was probably a mistake, but I emptied the trash.
    7) I have not closed Aperture for fear that might result in changing those paths attached to photos. Hopefully they are the key to setting things straight.
Is there any way I can undue the trash dump, or otherwise return photos to the appropriate projects? I'm talking about nearly 400 projects, so this is not a minor glitch.

I quit Aperture, which hung up while writing preveiws, so I did a force quit. I restarted Aperture while holding down command and option keys, but Aperture opened directly into library with all projects and photos intact. Oddly enough the projects seem to be in a random order, certainly a different order.
I closed Aperture without a problem
I ran Disk Warrior again, and once again there are damaged property lists that cannot be repaired. There are 9 plists numbered from
    File: "0000000002.plist"
    thru
    File: "0000000012.plist"
    all in
    Aperture Library.aplibrary/Database/History/Changes/
I opened Aperture again while holding down command and option keys, this time getting the dialog I wanted, and I'm now running Repair Library Database.
Well the dang thing seems to be hung at "Repairing Library 100% complete"
I'll give it a while, Force Quit and try again.
Any suggestions? Should I try a rebuild on the next try?

  • How do i take a head from one photo and put it on a body on a different photo?

I want to take the head of one person on a photo and place it on a different photo?  How do I do that in Photoshop Elements??

    Try this:
In Editor, go to the expert tab.
Open picture B, the one you wish to select something from to add to another picture.
Use one of the selection tools, e.g. selection brush, lasso tool, to select the object. You will see an outline ("marching ants") once the selection is complete
Go to Edit menu>copy to copy the selection to the clipboard
Open picture A, then go to Edit>paste
Use the move tool to position object from picture B.
In the layers palette you should see picture A as the background layer, and object B on a separate layer.

  • How do I take an inside window shot at 2000/sec from one photo  and put it into a photo shot 1/8/???

I am in real estate and have a need to show my photos with the winsdow scene but as I am sure most everyone is aware you need to shoot the windows at faster shutter speeds to capture the outdoors! Is there atutorial preferrably a video that shows the best way to select a window and put it in the other photo that shows the room detail. Obviously all photos were shot on a tripod. Any help would be appreciated I have version 7 of Elements presently I upgraded just before ver 8.0 hit the streets!

Barbara, I did upgrade finally to ver 8 and the it is real easy using photomege-exposure to accomplish the effectthat I want. Thanks for your assistance. It does look like the final merge get s a  little washed out with the colors not being true? What would cause this I am using the max on the resoulution when I take the photos!

  • Cut a heart shape out of one photo and put on another

I just installed pse 10 tonight and I need to frame out a part of a picture in a heart shape and put that heart shape on a layer so I can put that layer over my background photo.  How do I do this.  Also, the pse 10 box shows a couple with happy anniversary around their picture in a circle and flowers surrounding the circle.  Can anyone help me?

You can add a solid color fill layer or drag your background image from the project bin into the main window with your heart. Then drag the background layer down the layer stack so that it sits below the heart layer and shows through the transparency.

  • How can I join together a photo and a text (or other vector files)?

    Hi all.
I'm trying to do a poster with a sort of graffiti writings on a wall but I can't reach for any kind of realism. I'd like to see the writing on the wall like it was actually written.
I'm using a real photo behind the writings but the image and the text don't connect together, it is simply like a copy-past work. I don't know if I was clear because English is not my first language.. the effect I'd like to reach is like if the writings were printed on the wall.. but the wall is a photo so I don't know if they can be joined together..

Sounds like you are looking to make the writing realistic. That is better done in photoshop. Some tisp you can sue
use a blending mode on your writing so that it blends naturally into
If your wall is made of brick for example, you can save a grayscale imageg of your weall and use displace in photoshop to distort the writng so it looks liek it is follwoing a bump mapo of the grayscale imaeg you made
you can use a grayscale of your wall as a mask on your writing. Use a curve to brighten the mask, so most of the writing shows through, except for some edges and such you want to roughen up

  • Music splits when adding photo and video clip

Every time I add a new photo or video clip it makes the music split, so there is a gap in music from the beginning of the clip to the end. I can pull the music back, but that is getting aggravating. Is it the setting I have it on?

There's a grey horizontal line near the middle of each track. When you drag a new item from the browser into the timeline, it appears with a black arrow. As you drag, when the cursor is above the grey horizontal line, the black arrow points right, meaning you're performing an "insert" edit, which moves everything else to the right in the timeline. If the cursor is below the grey line, the black arrow points down, meaning you're performing an "overwrite" edit, which should leave your audio tracks in place.

  • How can you remove a figure from one photo and put it in another?

I am trying to move a figure (dog) from one photo/pic to another.  Is this possible with elements?

Yes, you should not have any trouble.
In Editor, go to the expert tab.
Open picture B, the one you wish to select something from (the dog) to add to another picture.

  • How do I save an edited photo and put it into a Facebook album?

I tried "saving for web" and saved the image as a JPEG, but as soon as I upload to Facebook half the picture is blacked out.. How do I stop this from happening?! Am I saving wrong?

Open the image in Photoshop or other editor to verify if the image is okay.

  • Elements 10 users...how do I pick an item from a photo and put on a blank background?

I have figured out how to go in and use the quick selection tool to select the object ,but how do I copy /paste onto another background? There isn't a copy/paste feature that I can find.(Plus how do I get the background layer part up at the same time?)

After you have made your selection with one of the selection tools, go to Layer>new>layer via copy. This will place the object on its own layer - a great advantage as you can change the layer's opacity, and the blending mode
Next, place a blank layer below the layer created in step #1, and fill it with color, a gradient, texture, or whatever for your replacement background.
Position the object with the move tool
If you want to copy/paste, go to Edit>copy, Edit>Paste. Whatever you paste will be on its own layer.
