Book on iBooks stopped opening, won't download?

I went into iBooks to read my granddaughter's favorite book & it won't download. The regular image of the cover is gone & it has the little cloud, but when I hit it, nothing happens. I went in to the book store looking for it & it's gone. My purchases button has a "1" on it, but nothing shows up there either.

Requested resource sounds like the item you bought is not available. Try going back to the item and having it sent again or see if the purchase even went thru.

Well, to paraphrase the old line, "What're you gonna believe, that email or your own lying eyes?"
The first thing I'd recommend trying is to power down your iPad (press & hold Sleep/Wake until the red OFF slider appears, then slide it to shut down), and then boot it back up and try again. You're resetting a bunch of state signals by doing that and this simple action (the first of a series recommended by Apple in your Users Guide) will quite often clear up these sorts of problems.

Have you deleted it from the iBooks app ? If you still have it on your bookshelf then you won't be able to re-download it.

Pdf book in iBooks library opens in PdfPen Pro

Hi with the latest OS X 10.10.2 update , I open the pdf book in iBooks and the pdf opens in PDF Pen Pro not iBooks

Hold down the control key and select a file of the given type in the Finder. A contextual menu appears. Release the control key and hold down the option key. From the contextual menu, select the submenu
Always Open With
and then the application you want to open all files of that type.

Why did my downloads to my Mac suddenly stop opening up after downloading?

I bought a MacBook Pro about a week ago and everything has been going great! Once I got past the Photoshop serial number issue, editing photos has been amazing compared to the pc I was using prior. I was able to download my add-ons and everything was working until all of a sudden when I went to download more photoshop software, my downloads stopped opening up. ADE 2.0 stopped working (won't download library books to ADE on Windows computer for Kobo

I've used ADE to download e-books from my public library onto my Kobo for over a year now but for a week now I haven't been able to. When I open the library book, select 'download' and it opens ADE but it is a totally blank page (there should be several books there that I have purchased). It sits on this blank screen for a while and eventually an error message comes up "ADE 2.0 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solutions is available".
I pinged my local library who suggested that I uninstall ADE and reinstall it. I did that and nothing changed. I waited 24 hrs and tried again. Still no change. I've also removed my computer authorization (ADE-Help-Contr Shift d) and reauthorized. Still can't load a book.
Any suggestions???

There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1).
Some of them just appear like that for no obvious reason on previously working systems.
Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

How do I delete a book from iBooks which is already partially downloaded? It's from the iBooks store (free), but now frozen. It does not respond to "pause" or "delete" but will not continue to download either. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Problem resolved. Once I downloaded another book, logging into Apple account, it started the new book downloading and the partially downloaded book (frozen), finally completed its download. Now I can use it or delete it as normal.

IBook won't download and can't delete

I recently downloaded iBooks. Today I downloaded an iBook and it won't download properly, always freezes. I want to delete it but seems you can't because it hasn't downloaded. I deleted the iBooks app but on reinstallation it keeps trying to download the ibook. Help please!

Same thing happened to me! Flippin' annoying! I can't get them to download, iTunes won't let me delete them. But everytime I connect my iPad or iPhone, it pops up and wants to download them. Then it sits for hours trying to download and nothing happens, except locking up my computer and rendering it completely useless. Did you check on the device you downloaded it on? Did you actually purchase and download the book on your iPad? If so, did you check in the iBooks app? If you downloaded the book on iTunes, did you sync your iPad using iTunes and then check the iBooks app?

Open your iTunes Connect > Deliver your Content and download the relevant PDF seen top right.
To find your book among the millions already in the store, seach the iBook Store for Author, title of book in the catagories you opted for.

Paid books should allow you 50 token codes to allow a free download of your book. Useful if you want magazines, local newspapers etc,. to review your book.

If the book won't open then try deleting it from the bookshelf and re-download it via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app and see if you can open that.

If tapping the book doesn't give a button at the top left to go back to your Library, then try closing the iBooks app completely and see if it works when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with iBooks 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the iBooks app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
