Book panel, InDesign, InCopy, Check in/check out all Assignments?

When several documents are open, using the book panel in ID, is there a way to check in or check out all assignments that have been generated (exported) using InDesign for editing in InCopy?

You will have to create a product for this and have it set as a related product. Using the relatedproductlist tag you can have a list of related products. With javascript when on certain products with this you can hide all this part and pretick the relalted product when needed. When you add to cart this will also be added to the cart at the same time.

  • Check out all files of a LabVIEW-Project

We are using LaV 8.5 and Visual Source Safe in a large project.
How can I easy check out all files in my LabVIEW-Project (.lvporj) direcly in LabVIEW, without using Visual Source Safe.
Do I've overseen a simple solution for that?
Actually I have to open al folders /structures, select all files the chcek out.

If you select a (virtual) folder sub-items will be checked out as well.
This is not valid for library folders (lvlib/xcontrol/lvclass) where only the library itself will be checked out.

  • I can't check out all the WD sources in NWDI

    Hi Experts
    I have this scenario:
I developed some Web Dynpro development component and check in in DTR.
Another developer check out this DC and start to developed some change and increase objects in this DC.
This ojects is: 1 EJB Model, some code in controller, some new Nodes in controller and in view.
Then he check in his changes
Now when i sync my project with DTR, just some changes was gotten from DTR like the new model and a view,
but the code in controller and the new nodes in controller didn't change.
Can someone give some solution to this issue?

    Hi,
After checking in the activity make a habit of activate the same activity.
Ask the other person to activate his activity.
After the activation of all previous activities. sync the dc it should effect the changes to dc in your nwds.
If the above procedure doesnot work then delete the dc from workspace and nwds. goto dc perspective->sync your project in inactive dc's>create project from inactive dc's, this will create the dc's in your nwds will the current changes in edit mode.

  • Incopy document won't check out or in

So here is the issue we are working in Indesign and exported .imcl files (incopy). Because our book is 900 pages we have around 45 documents set up in an indesign book.
From Indesign we check out various blocks of copy to edit them and then check them back in.
All three of our computers lock up when trying to check various blocks in or out. To the point of having to force quit the progam. We have waited as long as 1hr before force quiting so this is not an issue of being impatient (LOL)The problem is it is very inconsistant.
    • I have checked to make sure our hardware is what is needed and they are fine
    • The copy in question is not missing and is fully linked
    • The copy is not checked out by another user
    • Occasionally Indesign will prompt me saying that it is an invalid Incopy file but this is not always the case
My last quesstion is we do not actually have the Incopy program we are using the plug-ins through Indesign. I am not the one who set these files up so I don't really know enough to know if that is a problem.
I hope someone can help me out I think we are all going to be bald by the end of this catalog if we don't come up with a resolution!

Well for anyone interested I figured out what my problem was. When you export
Incopy from Indesign for some reason it creates hyperlinks and not just a few.
All I had to do was go in through my hyper links pallet click on the drop
down to the right and choose hyperlink destination options. This brings up a window that has an option to delete all. All of the hyperlinks were jamming up Indesign. If for some reason the file crashed then I had to copy the content to a new set of pages and re-save the file. I still had to go and delete all of the hyper links through the desitination options but after that our files were fine. It has been a month and we have not had anymore problems. Do make sure if you export anymore copy to periodicaly go through the process over again to avoid the problem again.

  • Check out multiple stories

    Hi,
We currently use InDesign and are evaluating InCopy for post-design proofing by the editors. But have a a practical problem with this process:
A two-page article, for example, will have 6 elements (heading, main text, tables, box stories, captions, etc). Longer features will have considerably more.
But when we export the article from InDesign it creates a file for each element. So when it comes to the editor proofing the article he has to check out each element in turn, before turning tracking changes on for all elements and then making changes.
Is there a way to check out all elements in an article in one click and then turn on track changes for all elements?
I appreciate any help as this significantly erodes any productivity saving that InCopy offers to us.
    Many thanks,

Are you using a layout based workflow or assignment? With an assignment
it's real easy. Just choose the assignment in the assignments panel and
    check that out.
With a layout based workflow, select all of the stories in the
assignments panel and then check them out.

  • Soundtrack Pro and Final Cut Server....can you check-in/check-out?

    Hello!
Just curious how the workflow is with Soundtrack Pro and Final Cut Server. We haven't used Soundtrack Pro, but have been thinking about it for Surround Sound projects.

You can check in anything into FCSvr, any type of project file or media file. Unlike checking in/out a Final Cut Pro project, with any other application, you'll need to check out the project file for that app, and manually check out all the media associated with it. Many folks will simply set up the STP, or Motion, or InDesign, or Illustrator project and it's associated media all into the same folder on their workstation. Then check in/out that folder as a "bundled asset". This makes a zip file in FCSvr that holds all of those needed files together. When you check it out, it's unzipped and places on your local workstation. When you check back in, FCSvr re-zips it and replaces the original on it's RAID storage drive.

  • Checking Out a Document

What happens when a user has modified a document but has left the document checked out and gone home, then someone discards the check out to continue working with the document. What happens to the modifications if the modifications have been saved
but not chedcked in and modifications that have not been saved and left checked out?

    Hi,
When you discard check out, all changes made are thrown away, and the document reverts to the version that had been originally checked out.
For more information, you can refer to:

  • Checking out entire project

I'm trying to get RoboHelp 9 set up with Subversion. Thus far I'm using the RH UI to do everything, but I've seen posts from others saying they check the entire project in and out of source control. Can comeone please elaborate on how that works? I know that there are some files that you don't add to source control, such as the .cpd file. So how do you set everything up? Are you checking the folder that contains the project in and out? If so, how do  you omit the files that are supposed to be excluded?

    Hi,
You can check out the project from the RoboHelp GUI. Click Check out all to check out the entire project.
You can also use the client to check out all the project files at once. Typically, you would not integrate the project with version control. You just check in the files after you've closed RoboHelp.
For more info on RoboHelp and Subversion, see also http://www.adobe.com/devnet/robohelp/articles/robohelp_subversion.html

  • SmartFX Best Place to Check Out Parameters

I have a fully functioning plugin (woo hoo!) and now I'm attempting to optimise it so it runs as quickly and efficiently as possible.
One thought occurred to me after I looked over the Shifter example code supplied with the SDK (figuring out using the Iteration suites) - where is the best place to check out my parameters - Pre-render, or Smart Render?
At the moment I check out all except for the layers during the call to Smart Render. There are a lot of parameters too, potentially, and from these I populate a bunch of variables I later use to draw my various scopes.
The Shifter example checks out its parameters during Pre-render and populates a data structure, which gets sent to Smart Render via the extra data.
I'm assuming that Smart Render never gets called without a Pre-render, so is there any advantage (apart from not having to check in my parameters) to doing all this in Pre-render? One thing that springs to mind is that now I'm starting to make use of IterateGeneric() for multi-threading I need to populate a (big) data structure to pass as my refcon, and I could start building this data during pre-render and pass the handle to Smart Render in pre_render_data, as in the Shifter example. This might save a whole load of function variables at render time.
    Thoughts?
Also, any other pro optimisation tips and hints gratefully received!
    Thanks, Christian

I think the big bushy beard on my face suggests that I am indeed a MAN!
Now it's working as it should I think a rewrite is in order to optimise, and start putting things in their right place. Obviously I'm checking out my layers during prerender but that's all at the moment. However my main drawing code is currently just two nested for loops (for y and x), so single-threaded. I've moved one of the scopes to a row-based function called by iterage_generic(), and with it a quite large refcon structure to carry all the vital position, scale, etc., information I need to draw the scope properly. If I'm to get all this info for all the scopes into the refcon, then I might as well take the time to do it during pre-render (where possible).
    > 1. if the inside of your iteration function looks like this:
    PF_Err err = PF_Err_NONE;
    AEGP_SuiteHandler suites(in_data->pica_basicP);
    suites.someSuite()->someFunction();
I made this mistake very early on in development, and after figuring out it was the reason why the plugin ground AE to a halt, learned not to do it again!
    > 3. if your plug-in does a whole lot of floating point math, then consider setting the compiler's floating point model from it's default "precise" to "fast".
My plugin actually does all of its internal work in 32-bit float. I figured it would be easier to write and maintain if I only had a single function for each part, rather than three. I can't see how to do this in XCode yet (Windows will come later).
    > (and you do know about the optimization options in your compiler, right?)
Well, I've been looking into this, but any info you can share would be great. So far I've seen the following in XCode, which I can set for "release" mode:
    "Debug Information Format" to nothing
"Strip Debug Symbols During Copy" to Yes
"Optimization Level" to Fastest, Aggressive Optimisation
But I'm sure there must be more...
    Thanks, Christian

  • Using Product Structure for checking out originals of child DIR's

I have a requirement of creating a package of documents.
Some of my DIR's are linked to service notification, some are linked to Purchse Order, & some are linked to Sales order.....
Each service notification, PO, SO is linked to one master DIR, so that they can be seen under Product Structure.
Is there any method to extract(Check Out) all the originals of all these DIR's at one place using Product structure.
Or can we atleast create a link between Master DIR and all child DIR's.
    Please giude me.
    Points for sure.

    Hi,
as far as I know there is no way to check out a product structure, but you can check out a document structure.
If you DIR has a bill of documents, you can use the BAPI CheckOutView2. The parameter GetStructure determines weather the structure is read or not.
    - GetStructure = 0 Document structure is not read
    - GetStructure = 1 Document structure is exploded one level
    - GetStructure = 2 Document structure is exploded completely

My last booth visit at E3 2015 was with Turtle Beach to check out all their latest innovations in gaming audio headsets and equipment. As a gamer, having a good pair of headphones is vitally important. The strength of Turtle Beach is that they offer a range of products in all price ranges, so you can pick the pair best suited to your needs. My meeting with them also helped me discover an innovative new project they are working on, which could revolutionize how we listen to television.

  • Exclude Directories from Check In / Check Out

I have another user working within a specific directory on
our site, so I've enabled check in / out on both machines. However,
the directory is a relatively small one on the site. The annoyance
of having to check out every single file on the site, including the
ones I know I'm the only person editing it, is getting on my
    nerves.
Checking files in and out is extremely slow and tedious.
Editing CSS and other things that I know the user will not edit is
also an annoyance. So I'd like to either include just the one
directory, or exclude the specific directories that aren't the
directory that both of us are using.
Make any sense? Is this even remotely possible without
duplicating the site and its files to a new "site definition" that
    doesn't have these limitations?
Thanks for any ideas you might have.

Can you check out all the files you need, and just not check
    them back in
again? I think you can still upload changes without having
    the check in the
files. The only ones that need to be checked in are the ones
    others may need
    to edit.

  • How to set up a simple InDesign/InCopy workflow

We have 10 chapters as individual Indesign documents (organized collectively as an .indb book file). I want to set up an editing workflow so that my two remote editors can edit the copy and insert Notes. The main body text in each chapter is contained in a single story for each Chapter, but there are also approx. 20 sidebars and note panels in each Chapter), so that when i export the documents in the Edit-->InCopy flyout menu, I get essentially 21 different files instead of one. Isn't there a way that I can set this up so that an editor simply opens a single file and edits all the stories in one place and not see the proliferation of incopy files? Or should I be doing something differently to get all those separate stories unified?

That's how it works. Each story is exported as an individual file.
The reason for that is pretty simple. It's not always desirable to have all of the content editable.
It's pretty simple to export all the stories and if you save them in an assignment, the editor can simply check the assignment out which will check out all the stories at once.
Are you using a remote workflow by packaging the assignments?

  • How to keep the Book panel in the same location after saving the book

I almost always have the Book panel open. I like to dock all the panels, including the Book panel, at the right edge of the workspace. But whenever I save a book file, the Book panel reappears in the middle of my screen. I then have to drag it back over to the right edge of the workspace, where I want it to be. Is there any way to keep the Book panel where I put it (whether docked, or floating)?

This is simply a "ditto" to the problem; it's a major irritation not to be able to save this as part of the workspace--but to have to drag the book panel to the side every single time. Frustrating.
