Book printing and web exporting from Aperture without .mac account

can I export web logs and have apple books made without a .mac account?

A .Mac account is not required to order iPhoto or Aperture books from Apple or to publish an Aperture gallery to the Internet; in the second case, you will need a webserver to put the gallery on.

  • Missing Metadata in Web Gallery images exported from Aperture.

Images that I export directly to my .mac web gallery from aperture do not show any meta data on their info pages. In aperture the images have all meta data.
I have checked all the presets and all include metadata. There is no specific preset for web gallery I notice.
    Has anyone else solved this?

I want to change all the metatdata in groups to copywrighted. I can not seem to do this. There could be a checkbox on or off when importing. This would be perfect for bringing in older copywrighted archives.

  • Slow Web Export in Aperture 1.5.1

I feel a little crazy for asking this, but it seems like web exports have gotten significantly slower since I upgraded to Aperture 1.5.1. I cannot find anything on my machine that would cause this. Has anyone else experienced this?
    -Fletch
    PowerMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I haven't noticed it being slower in v1.5.1 than previously. That said it's too slow and slower than it should be. My Mac Pro can knock out files as fast as 18 high res. files per minute (~90mb each. from 1DsM2) when I'm batching but web galleries tend to hover around 3 files per minute (2-6 overall). That's much too slow and would be a nightmare on location if you have to generate a web gallery from your laptop of a few hundred files.
Aperture needs to have an option to generate the web galleries from the thumbnails it creates (which I think fit within 1000 px square - more than enough for most web galleries) or from previews rather than from the raw files. This would speed things up considerably.
I haven't been using previews, I turned them off, so you might be able to use them for that if your referenced files are off-line, but it would still be nice to have the option to generate web galleries from Aperture's built thumbnails or the previews from an Aperture library or from referenced files.

  • 'Unable to quarantine' when exporting from Aperture to a NAS

I have scanned a lot of images as TIFF (approx 28.000), and they are on an External Drive, and I imported them into Aperture (3.3) as referenced files.
Now I want to have a a more workable environment, because the TIFF's are 140 MB each.
    So the idea is:
    - Export from Aperture to a NAS drive
    - Create a new Aperture Library and import them (again as referenced files)
The NAS is a WD MyBook Live Duo that is attached to my Time Machine.
The current Aperture Library and the future Aperture Library will be on my iMac's HD.
I just exported 405 images and in the log I see 405 times:
    1/3/13 9:29:34.000 PM kernel[0]: Aperture[54224] Unable to quarantine `/Volumes//Pictures/Modellen_Ref_Files/Mulder_Koosje/JHWA_9601M-25.jpg': 22 (error suppressed)
    (Time and filename differ ofcourse.)
However all 405 images were indeed exported.
    I read the thread :
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20274081#20274081
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20294802#20294802
    from Steffen4712
So before continuing with the rest of the 28.000 images I want to make sure that I will not run into problems.
So can somebody explain to me or point me to a discussion so that I can try and understand what this Quarantine thing is trying to do?
    Thanks,
    Jan

I managed to find a way to get things done without getting the error.
    Workflow from the start:
    - scanned negatives and stored them as TIFF files on an external HD
    - Started Aperture and imported them as referenced files
    - added keywords and adjustments
    I tried:
    - export them as JPG to a NAS drive
This give the error "Unable to quarantine  22 (error suppressed)"
    I tried :
    - remove extra attribute from TIFF file on external HD (using xattr -c)
    - export them as JPG to a NAS drive
This give the error "Unable to quarantine  22 (error suppressed)"
    I tried:
    - export them as JPG to my HD
    - remove extra attribute from JPG (using xattr -c)
    - switch to "new" Aperture Library and import them and choosing the NAS as place to store them
This give the error "Unable to quarantine  22 (error suppressed)"
    I tried:
    - export them as JPG to my HD
    - remove extra attribute from JPG (using xattr -c)
    - using Finder and copy them to temporary folder on my NAS
    - open "new" Aperture Library and import them and choosing the NAS as place to store them (effectively relocating them)
No errors were seen in the system.log
Conlusion, apparently Aperture wants to quarantine them when moving them to the NAS and Finder does not.

  • What is the best settings to use in the export manager when exporting from Aperture 3.5 to Photoshop cc.  tiff? psd? 16bit? dpi?

What are the best settings to use in the export manager when exporting from Aperture 3.5 to Photoshop cc for editing?
Should I use tiff or psd?
    8bit or 16bit?
    How many dpi?

That will depend on the photometric resolution of your originals. For jpegs it would be a waste of space to convert them to a higher resolution than 8bit, but if your images actually have already more than 8bit, you will want to preserve this quality. Then he 16bit format will help to prevent color clipping.
Both tiff and psd will preserve the lossless workflow. With Photoshop as external editor I would use he psd format for better support of layers and transparency, e.g., when you want to create watermark files.
The dpi will only matter, when you export the file for printing.

  • Photos in FCE; export from Aperture in target size?

    hi all.
I'm planning to place photos from Aperture into my FCE project, with the photos fading from one to the next. they won't be full screen, less than half. to get the best final quality, do I need to sharpen and export from Aperture so that the photos are placed within the FCE project at 100% without scaling?
    cheers,
    Gregory

    Hi Frank.
    Thanks for the response.
Agreed, the pertinent question is why can't my colleague edit the JPG exported by Aperture. It's probably also worth pointing out, the same problem occurs with JPGs exported from iPhoto.
The Windows software usually plays nicely with JPGs by all acounts, just not the ones I send - which I do via eMail or my public space on Mobile Me incidently.
So, another key question is: all settings being equal (color profile, quality, etc.) are the JPGs as produced by iPhoto and Aperture indistinguishable from those produced by other apps on other platforms - i.e. does the use of JPG enforce a common standard?
If that is the case, I suspect ours might be a permissions issue.
According to the Microsoft support page on editing in Windows Live Photo Gallery, the inability to edit a picture is commonly caused by unsupported file type, or read-only attribute set on the file.
Unfortunately, he and I are not in the same place, and he's not particularly au-fait with this type of problem solving. Hence, before involving him, I'd like to know:
    1. it's possible (i.e. someone else does it), and,
    2. what's involved (at my end and/or his).
    Thanks again,

  • How do I export from Aperture to iPhoto?

Ok, I am very new at all of this, and find it quite confusing.
I took several hundred raw photos and imported them into Aperture. I believe they are all in a 'project', the yellow box looking icon? Then, I created numerous folders inside this project, in which I carefully sorted all my photos by subject - about 18 folders. Then, I worked with each folder, fine tuning each image, and adding exif metadata, and rating each image. So far so good.
Now, I want to bring all this images (as full size jpegs) into iPhoto.. this is where I am getting bogged down. There is an export function in Aperture, and an import function in iPhoto: which do I use?
I have been experimenting with various scenarios, but nothing seems to be working the way I want.. specifically, to have all my images in iPhoto - IN THE SAME STRUCTURE as I have in Aperture. When I did manage to bring them into iPhoto, they all came over in one big massive event, leaving all my sorting and ratings behind. This can't be right.. I don't want to resort them all again, moving them into the appropriate folders. And I don't want to have to re-enter the exif metadata and ratings again.
Can someone please help me with this?

Export from Aperture and then import to iPhoto.
Alternatively, you can share your Previews with iPhoto but that gets only the Preview.
FWIW: your workflow makes no sense. It's like writing your novel in TextEdit then opening it in Word to Spell Check and then copying it back to TextEdit. Why not just write your novel in Word? Aperture is not an editor. It's a complete replacement for iPhoto. It will do everything that iPhoto does, and then more. Or if you want to stick with iPhoto, get an editor and use it as an external editor in that.

  • How to call "https" web service from Oracle without certification.

The reuirement is to call a secured web service (*https web service*) from Oracle9i without involving any additional cost.
Initialy I tried with UTL_HTTP package but in vain as it is needed some certification. As per the requirement no additional cost should be involved with the implementation.
So is there any way to achieve the above mentioned problem?
Please let me know the responses with the sample code/steps.

Please try not to double post. You have the ability to edit your original thread.
Oh, BTW, try searching the forum. A quick search turned up this: HTTPS request signed by client certificate from PL/SQL procedure
Check that out and maybe that will solve your problems.

  • Export from Aperture to edit in Windows Live Photo Gallery

    Hi.
I'm hoping to work collaboratively with a colleague, in a scenario where I take & edit photos, then pass them over for a possible final touch up before being forwarded to clients.
I use Mac OSX 10.6 and Aperture. He uses Windows Vista and Windows Live Photo Gallery.
The problem we've come up against is this: he is unable to edit the image I've exported from Aperture. I'm exporting as .JPG, and he's able to read them ok - i.e. load it into Windows Live Photo Gallery, but not alter the image.
Does anyone have a similar workflow, exporting from Aperture, then editing in Windows Live Photo Gallery?
    Thanks in advance,
    PB

For your addressbook, export the files to vCard on the PowerMac, then bring them over to your Mac Pro. For your iPhoto, copy the Users -> yourname -> Pictures folder to your Desktop on the Mac Pro, and open iPhoto on the Mac Pro holding the command and option keys.  Select the library file from that Pictures folder and open it.  It should import all the pictures into iPhoto as part of the rebuild process.  Other PowerPC to Intel migration issues are covered here: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2295

  • Sharpness APERTURE vs iPHOTO~file exported from Aperture worse than iPhoto

    HEY.
i'm recently using Aperture for my Photo Editing work.I found that everything Good and Perfect after fine tune and preview in the Window of Aperture...while Export it to the Jpeg (originaly image import from jpeg file) I found it's a bit loose from what i see in the Window Aperture...means,Loose the Sharpness...whole image getting un-sharp or s'ld i say added gausion blur of feel??
Once i import it(the one exported from Aperture) into iPhoto and Export it (even down size to 800 of diamention) it became Sharp and nice colour tone while compare with the one which Export from Aperture!!!!
    Why?
In the Export setting of Aperture i do set the Quality to max 12 and 300dpi even...
    Need your hand...thanks!!

WARNING! The sharpness problem is occurring in iPhoto modifications as well! I'm running Tiger and Leopard at the same time on 2 different computers - SAME EXACT SHARPNESS problems. The problem is NOT the OS - it's in the APPLE Photo Aps!

  • Which Metadata option when exporting from Aperture?....

When Exporting a single Original (never edited) CR2 file from Aperture 3.6 to my Desktop there are 3 Metadata options :
    1) - Don't include IPTC
    2) - Include IPTC
    3) - Create IPTC4XMP Sidecar File
As I have no idea what 'IPTC' etc is, which option is best to later Import into Capture One, please?

IPTC are all Metadata you assigned in Aperture or in other applications, as opposed to the EXIF metadata embedded in the photos by the camera. The camera tags would be in the EXIF.
The get an idea, what is in clouded in EXIF and IPTC, open the Inspector in Aperture in the sidebar and switch the view to "IPTC info". That will show you a list of all tags, that will be included, when you export from Aperture with IPTC included.
You can only export modified versions with IPTC, since Aperture will not modify the original file on export. That is why you can add a sidecar files, that lists all tags, and many applications are able to read this sidecar file, when you import photos.
I want the camera EXIF data to be exported with the image file.
The camera EXIF are already embedded in the original image files. When you export the originals, the EXIF will be included, independent of your setting for IPTC.
You can test, what will be exported, by opening exported files in Preview and opening the Inspector (Tools menu > Show Inspector)
You can see all EXIF and IPTC tags that have been exported with the photo.

  • Can a photo be exported from aperture in CMYK profile

Can a photo be exported from aperture in CMYK profileas TIFF jpeg PSD etc .?

Yes, in the export dialogue panel pick a TIFF or PSD setting, and then set the colorsync profile selector to a cmyk-profile,
    You need to have installed cmyk-profiles, however;
most of my colorsync profiles were installed by photoshop.
You will find the cmyk-profiles in the system library:
         /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
