With the holiday season upon us, I imagine many of BT's customers will be making holiday/travel bookings, wanting to print boarding cards, buy rail tickets/plane tickets/make hotel reservations on line. All of these vital documents tend to be sent to you by email, which can be an expensive disaster if the email system doesn't deliver them and you find yourself without vital information at a railway station or checkin desk. At the moment, a substantial number of BT customers are experiencing issues with accessing their email, and losing email material that has disappeared deep into the bowels of either yahoo or bt or criticalpath/openwave never to be seen again. This is beyond your control, and we have no idea when BT's email service will settle down to its more usual patterns of operation. Advice!! - whenever you get to a booking confirmation web page online, immediately save it/print it/archive it as a saved web page or print it to a pdf file and check the file to make sure it is readable and that you have ALL the required information. Do that BEFORE clicking any "NEXT" button on the booking site. Then print out your paper copy and save the file to any device you are taking on holiday as well. Don't simply rely on the "we will send you an email bookiing confirmation" - because you could be disappointed - or seriously out of pocket. Unfortunately, even if the failure of the email to arrive safely costs you a lot of money you are unlikely to be able to sue for compensation. best to use the belt and braces method and assume that the email WONTarrive. Just in case.
That's good advice but not simply because of the current shananigans with BT Mail. I routinely check that I have received email info* before logging off a confirmation page, copying the page if the email doesn't arrive pdq. It's little effort compared with the potential bother.
*Safely downloaded by Thunderbird of course. Anyone who doubted the security value of using an email client must surely be rethinking it by now.

When I try to email photos from iPhoto I get this message: The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination. It won't let me change it, what do I do?
Can you send email ok via the Apple Mail application?
The username and password are set in the Accounts section of the Mail application. Start Mail, select preferences and select Accounts. Then make absolutely sure that the username, password and outgoing mail server are entered correctly. -
I cannot get yahoomail through the email icon on my iPad since this morning. Gmail works and yahoomail works on iphone and if I go through safari and yahoo, works ok on iPad. I changed password, deleted account and restarted account, turned iPad on and off and still no mail
My wife’s iPad was not downloading Yahoo mail, although her iPhone was. Both used IOS 8.2. We tried deleting the account several times and troubleshooting all of the other settings. The problem appears to have been that allowing the IOS to automatically create the account on the iPad resulted in the wrong settings for the incoming server. The following procedure, pieced together from two websites, fixed the problem for us. So far, so good.

On the iPhone, tap Settings.
Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

Port: 465 or 587
Requires SSL: Yes
Requires authentication: Yes
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail. It may have been entered for you.
Tap Next.
The iPhone will establish an SSL connection to your IMAP and SMTP servers.

If you are trying to "Share" photos via email, quit iPhoto then launch the Mail app.
From the Mail menu bar click Mail > Preferences then select the General tab.
Select your Mail client from the pop up menu next to: Default email reader
Now select the Accounts tab then the Account Information tab.
Select the account on the left that you want to use with iPhoto.
Type in your User name and password
Relaunch iPhoto. Click Share from the menu bar > Email -

Your iPad doesn't receive email from Outlook Express (or any other email client). It receives email from your email provider. To set up your email account on your iPad go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap Add Account and add your email provider's account settings with your username and password. iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, AOL and Hotmail email settings are automatically entered by tapping the appropriate button. Others must be manually entered by tapping Other. (Exchange accounts will also require you to enter your email provider's settings.)

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output andWi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -

Recovering Disk Space
If you have less than 10 GB you definitely need to delete or offload some files or purchase a lager disk or SSD (see below). You may want to maintain at least 20 GB of free space so when your disk starts filling again it will have some room before it hits that 10 GB mark again. More headroom is better. If you let the space fall much below 9 GB you might not be able to boot your machine.
Initial easy steps to gain disk space:
- Delete all files in the Downloads folder.
Empty the Trash.
- Start iPhoto.
Empty its trash.
Restart.
- Restart in Safe Mode:
Restart the computer.
As soon as you hear the chime press and hold the right shift key.
Be patient. Hold it down until you see the Apple icon.
Empty the trash.
Restart in normal mode.
- Delete "Recovered Messages", if any.
Hold the option key down and click "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
Select "Library" from the drop down menu.
Library > Mail > V2 > Mailboxes
Delete "Recovered Messages", if any.
- Empty the Trash.
- Restart.
- Re-index your system disk (Macintosh HD):

I want to print the story on a story site but all that gets printed is the home page.
If I go to a site where readers have posted stories I want to print out those stories so I can read them in a comfortable chair and not have to stare at a computer screen. When using Internet Explorer when I click on the story and then hit ctr+p it will print out the story no matter how many pages it is.
When I try that on Firefox all that gets printed is the home page of the site.
By the way, my computer shop installed Firefox the other day so I don't know what version it is.Try here...
