Booklet printing - duplex printer

I am trying to print a 32-page booklet on a duplex printer.  Everything seems normal in the print preview window, but on the actual print roughly 1/3 of the content is cut off from the tops of pages 2 and 16.  What am I doing wrong?

This is the config I´d managed to make it work.
My first difficulty was that my printer´s options is a bit too complex(Layout, Quality, Duplex options,....), mixing that with the many combinations of options we need to fullfil in Adobe Reader aswell...far from good. I wish there was a option in my canon mp560 setup to let it print using only adobes settings. Would be easier.
Adobe Acrobat Reader:
First, at the bottom left,
Page Setup = Landscape
Hit Ok
Print Range = All
Page Handling:
Booklet Printing
Both Sides
Auto Rotate
Bind Left
Then, at the bottom: Printer...
Printer: Canon...
Layout:
2 Pages per Sheet
Paper Handling:
Check the Scate to Fit: (A4) or whatever paper size you´re printing
Cover Page:
None
Duplex Printing & Margin:
Check the Automatic Duplex Printing
Print Area = Use reduced printing
Stapling Side = Shot-side stapling (Top)
Hit Print, then Ok in Acrobat Reader.
It should print fine, as it did to my small document.

  • Booklet Printing Duplex Imposition

I have been Googling and searching the forums and I am not finding just what I need. Please help!
I want to create a booklet in InDesign. I set up my document with left and right hand pages as 1/4 of a standard letter size. So my page measures 4.25" wide and 5.5" tall. The page count varies, but let's say it's about 40 pages in length.
My goal is to print this on 4-up sheets with duplexing. I can then cut the paper, stack it and bind it.
But I am getting stuck on the imposition. Here is what I tried:
    1) I output the page from InDesign as a PDF with single pages. I then opened it in Acrobat and tried to set up the print. But there is no imposition in Acrobat and, even though I have a duplex printer, it doesn't seem to understand two sided, multi-up prining. I have a cover and a first page that should get imposes back to back, but every opion in Acrobat puts them in sequential order (of varying types of maze paths for layout).
I tried "Booklet Printing" under Page Scaling, but I could not find a way to get 4-up on a page.
    2) Tried booklet printing direct from InDesign. The main problem here is that their only 4-up option is for four consecutive pages laid out end to end. This is absolutely no help.
    3) Found the Dave Saunder script called "MakeBooklet.jsxbin", but I have no directions for it. I cannot see the code, so I assume this has been compiled. It is for CS3 and before running it, I need directions which I cannot find.
I am very stuck. I am not sure where to go from here, but I absolutely do not have $500 for some imposition software that I will use just a few times in my lifespan. I have Distiller, but still need to generate the imposed EPS pages for that. Right now, I am thinking I will have to do this manually, and that is just going to be a nightmare.
    All suggestions are welcomed!!
I have InDesign CS4, Acrobat 9 Pro and am on the Macintosh platform (iMac i7 with Mac OS 10.6.4)

You'll have to do some of this semi manually, because 1, you don't want to spend any money on it, and 2, because you're doing something a bit unusual, by putting two pages on one, and printers and free scripts don't allow for it.
So first of all run the makebooklet script on your original document, which we'll say is called filename, which will then save that file as something like filename_bklt_1. BTW you don't need any instructions for makebooklet because there are no options, at least on the version I have, just run it and see what happens!
The make another Indesign document the size of your finished page and place the filename_bklt_1 document into it.  Use the MulitPageImporter script (free and very useful) to do this and do it twice, once with the page at the top of the page, the 2nd time with it at the bottom.  Save that file and you're done.
Then when you make a change to your original filename document all you need to do is save that, and open the other two documents in order and update the links.  Fairly automatic really, especially when it's free.  FWIW Quite Imposing could do the whole thing in one easily saved step, but I totally agree, it's just not worth it for a few one off jobs.

  • I have a HP Laserjet P2055dn booklet printing is not working anymore. Windows 7 64 bit

I used to do booklet printing on my HP P2055dn; a feature that I loved!   Suddently thisfeature stopped and therefore  I updated the driver  but  now it is gone for good.
Under printer properties I used to have "General Printing", "dublex",  "Envelops", " Booklet" and "Defaults".but  now there is only "General" and "Duplex" the rest is gone.!!!!!.
I am using Windows 7, 64 bit, Word 2010. Neither printer driver P2055dnUPS PC6 nor HP univerals PCL 6 works.
Please note that  I still have  all the printer properties (above) on my laptop, Win7, 64 bit Word 2007 (old printer driver).
I assume this has something to do with the compatability of Office 2010 AND the  Printer driver. I could easily test this by updating the printer driver on my laptop but I am afraid to lose this feature there too.  Any useful advice!!!!
Update: I installed the old printer driver and  have all printer properties!!  There is a problem with HP updated relased in July 2011 !!
Update: although the software shows the booklet prining and envelop option. Booklet prining is not working. So my quess is that the HP frimware update screwed everything up!!!  So what do do now?

    Hi,
Please update the printer driver with correct version and compatible with Windows version.
Then Open "Devices and Printers" and right click on "Printing Prefences"
Create new Printing Shotcuts as below.
Then go to the other tab Finishing and do exactly like the image.
    Apply and Save.
Your Booklet printing and shotcuts is ready. now you can print.
Please let me know if this is being useful for you.

Setup your document at 8.5 X 11 and then to create a booklet, use the Booklet Printing feature (File > Print Booklet).

  • How to get booklet printing?

ETA: I'm investigating suggestions here, unless someone has found a better solution.

    Trying this one...
    Hey everyone,
I'm very frustrated. I can't figure out how to accomplish booklet printing in Word or Pages. Pages often does things simply that Word fights tooth and nail, but I can't figure this one out.
Apparently, old versions of Word supported booklet printing, which would allow the document to be printed with 2 pages facing each other, then cut the pages down the middle (gutter) and bound. Or stapled down the middle. However, I'm finding this an impossible task.
I'm using Word 2011 for Mac. Pages 4.1. Snow Leopard.
The end result I want: A landscape-oriented, two-sided (I have duplex printing on my laser printer) document with 4 pages to a sheet (2 front, 2 back), than can be cut down the middle and bound on the resulting left side, just like a "regular" book.
I don't have the option for "booklet printing" under page setup in Word, and I don't know how to set it up in pages, because I can't even find a way to make it landscape orientation! (Yes, the computer is plugged in.)
    Please help me.
    Thanks in advance.

I can't help you with Word. I use Pages and Create booklet. http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/21068/create-booklet-pdf-service
Install the create booklet service and you'l will find the option in the File > Print window.
Write the document with normal pages. Save the original first in Pages format. Then press Cmd + P choose PDF button down to the right. In the pop up menu choose Create booklet. Wait a few seconds an Preview will open the new document with the pages imposed ready to be printed.
I can't help you with the duplex printing though. What I do when I print the document is to in the print dialog first print the odd pages and then after I put back the printed papers I print the even pages.

  • CS3 Booklet Printing Staple Problem

    Hi all,
Here's my problem... I have an 8 page document in Indesign CS3, with all pages letter size. I'm using Print Booklet to print this to a Xerox 7760 printer onto tabloid size paper which is printing on both sides of each sheet (duplexing) and then folded in half and stapled at the spine (therefore uses two tabloid pages). I have no problems whatsoever printing a single copy of the entire booklet. It prints just fine and puts my individual pages in the correct order. My problem is that when I need to print MULTIPLE copies of the same booklet at once, what it does is print let's say 5 copies correctly but staples them together as ONE thick booklet instead of 5 booklets. Does that make sense? The booklets are in the right order, its just one set of staples holding everything together instead of 5 indiviual sets. I've tried a number of settings but I can't figure out what I am doing incorrectly.
FYI I'm on a Mac using OSX 10.5.8 and appear to have the latest Xerox drivers.I am also trying to avoid making this into a PDF and printing out of Acrobat (haven't tried it yet but may go that route temporarily if all else fails) because I find when I print multiple copies of multipage documents out of Acrobat, it resends each page for every copy making it a horribly looooong process. I am not having this problem within InDesign. I also found that the images didn't look at sharp as printing within ID as well.
Any help would be very appreciated! I'm just scratching my head over this one. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Guy,
It's a known issue with Indesign CS3,same problem with Acrobat 8 fixed with 9 (sets stappled together)..Try to use the imposition from the driver and not from the booklet printing, correct with the version 5.0.2 but another problem with the first page rotated with the 5.0.4 so moving to CS4 is the best choice.
    Good luck.

  • MG5350 Booklet Printing

I can successully print an A5 (half A4) booklet. But I realy would like to know how to print a B5 booklet.  In the, numerous, experiments I have so far tried I can get the B5 size but not Duplex printing - meaning tat sequential pages are back to back but empty!  All help will be appreciated, thank you

    Hi,
I've included a screenshot below for Windows 7 that gives a booklet printing option located under the features tab in print properties. It's not something I've done before but if you toggle the booklet printing icon to on, you should get a booklet style output.
You might also need to switch the two sided printing toggle on also but just try it with booklet printing on first.

  • Pages out of order when booklet printing on both sides

When booklet printing on the HP Laserjet Pro 200 color m251nw using manual duplexing the pages come out in the wrong order. If I create a document that has 4 pages only  it prints pages 4 and 1 on the first side and 2 and 3 on the second as it is supposed to. If i add four more pages it no longer works properly - in that case it prints pages 8 and 1 on one side then 4 and 5 on the second side of that sheet and then 6 and 3 on the first side of the second sheet and pages 2 and 7 on the second side of the second sheet so when it is folded in half the page sequence becomes 1,4, 3, 2, 7, 6, 5, 8.  I routinely do this on another hp printer and a xerox printer with no issue. What settings should i be using on this model?

Hi , I see that you are having issues manually duplexing. I would be happy to help you. Here is the two-sided printing instructions provided from the manual on page 27. LASERJET PRO 200 COLOR.You may have to uninstall and reinstall the printer software, it might have gotten corrupted. I would suggest to download a Universal Print Driver to see if that will help resolve this issue.HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL6 (32-bit). If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know. Have a nice day!
    Thank You.

  • Booklet printing with K8600dn

We are considering a K8600dn. It will have one purpose only.  This is to print 11x17 sheets which fold to a 4-page, 8.5x11 booklet. Printer driver must have a booklet preference which prints pages 1 and 4 on the first side of the 11x17 sheet and pages 2 and 3 on the second side. Does anyone know if this feature is available? It worked on our Business inkjet 2600, but didn't work very well on some of the earlier 11x17 inkjets. TYpe got reduced, margins were erratic, etc. Help appreciated.  Thanks

Thanks, PrintDoc, but I think my question is a bit different.  Sorry if I wasn't clear. I know the printer will duplex for 2-sided printing. What I don't know is whether the printer driver has a booklet function that when chosen, will put pages 1 and 4 on one side of the paper and 2 and 3 on the other side. As far as the editing function of MS Word, it starts out just as a 4-page document, portrait, 8.5x11. The printer driver allocates the pages 1, 4 and 2,3 layout. With the Business Inketjet 2600, one chose "11x17 sheet, booklet printing, left-hand binding, print on both sides." But this was all done in the printer driver, not in MS Word.
I hope this clears things up.

  • Canon 4080i can't access booklet printing - Legal or Tabloid

I used to be able to do booklet printing on both Legal and Tabloid size paper. Now I only get that for Letter sized paper. Did the drivers change to disallow that or am I missing something like maybe a setting on the printer itself? Color imageRunner 4080i with AH1 and W2 over the network. Any help would be appreciated. I see that if I do it through Parallels and windowze I see those options in the print dialog there.

    G Michael Otto1 wrote:
Having said that, what you are telling me is to specify the folded page size as the paper size and that won't work.
Well it sort of works for me.
With a multiple page document open in Preview, I can set the Paper Size to US Letter. I then change to the Finishing menu and select Booklet and Saddle Stitch. When I then print the job the machine errors, prompting me to load 11" x 17", which is obviously the size needed to fit two Letter size pages to a sheet to make the booklet.
If I then created a Custom Paper size of 7" x 8.5" so that I could 'use' Legal for the booklet sheet, I did find that the Booklet selection was not available. This was the case for the UFR2 and PS3 driver. Interesting side note is that the iR C5185 using the imagePASS-H1 does support the printing of booklets using Legal paper (at least through the driver it appears to support it).
So as you have found there does appear to be a limitation with the latest drivers to create a booklet using Legal paper. But booklet printing on 11x17 with Letter sized originals appears to be available with both the UFR2 and PS3 driver.

  • Booklet printing with HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809n

Can any one help with booklet printing? I have looked at other posts and none seem to quite cover my problem.
I want to print from Microsoft Office Publisher 2003, and have a PC running Windows XP.
The booklet needs printing on A4 (297 x 210mm) paper landscape format with 2 pages (A5) per side.
What prints out is portrait with 4 pages per sheet (A6 size) with the printing on the reverse side inverted.
I've tried all combinations of landscape and portrait etc. and nothing works. As I will need to do these booklets quite often in future I would like to sort it asap.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Different page sizes in booklet printing

    Hi,
I'm trying to create a booklet, printed on A4 paper in landscape, with two pages per sheet side, ie so when folded the booklet is A5 sized.
Using the booklet printing feature of Acrobat this works great, providing all the pages are the same size.
However I now need to add a couple of double-sized pages, eg for the centre pages and optionally for the outer cover. The nature of these pages is that they are in effect double sized single pages, ie they should fill a whole A4 sheet, not half, and I would prefer not to split in two.
Is there something I need to do when I create the PDF file from the various source documents?
Hope the above makes sense but hopefully the following will clarify:
For 8 page booklet, I want to print:
    A4 sheet 1, side 1 -> page 8 & page 1
    A4 sheet 1, side 2 -> page 2 & page 7
    A4 sheet 2, side 1 -> page 6 & page 3
    A4 sheet 2, side 2 -> page 4 & page 5 (this is a double sized page)
    Many thanks,
    Clive

  • Booklet printing to tabloid

I hope I am posting this correctly. I thought I could get telephone assistance regardless of the cost. My reputation is hanging on this. I would pay any amount at this point.
For years I have printed the same tabloid size art catalog from inDesign (CS6 now) by using:
    PRINT BOOKLET
PRINT SETTINGS -making sure my printer (Canon) is selected
PRINT - select SAVE AS POSTSCRIPT in the PDF dropdown
Print to desktop and open w/DISTILLER set to oversize print
I have been struggling for HOURS to get this to work. It only prints portions of each page on letter size, regardless of how many times I configure to print 17x11.
I am at the end of my rope with a deadline at the end of the day on something I have NEVER EVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH!!!!
    I am on a Mac w/Yosemite 10.10.2
How can I get the help I need??????????????????????????????????????????? It isn't working and my head is pounding.
    Pete

Well, I've now been on this for nearly 8 hours. Here's what I discovered:
I could not do a blessed thing to get this to print correctly using inDesign CS6 with Print Booklet and then DISTILLER to open the PS file (all outlined in my initial post).
What I ended up doing out of sheer desperation, I saved it as an earlier version (.idml), threw that new file, all the images and links to an external HD and found a colleague who had inDesign CS5. That party opened it all up, adjusted the links, and printed the booklet w/o a blink or hiccup.
Soooooo.... what on Earth is going on w/CS6 and the ability to print to .ps???????????????????? No matter what I did, it forced me to produce a letter-size, not a tabloid.
At least my rep isn't tarnished with the community that expected this annual piece! Perhaps in an hour my heart will stop racing.
