Bookmark action goto page document

Acrobat Pro XI.
I try to create a bookmark action by right-clicking and selecting pro. When perusing the Actions-panel of the Bookmark Properties I cannot find a way to replace the default Action "Go to a page in this document" by an action "Go to page in another document".
According to the documentation you should have this option
cf. page on: Applying actions and scripts to PDFs:
Go To A Page View
Jumps to the specified destination in the current document or in another document.

How can I proceed?

It's the same action. When you add it and the floating window with the "Set
Link" button appears open the other file, scroll to the location you want
to link to and then click the "Set Link" button. The link will
automatically point to the other file, using relative file paths, so if you
move the first file you have to move the other one with it.

If it is Pages 5.5.1 you persuade yourself that you never wanted to do it.
If it is Pages '09 select the reference text in the document body of a Word Processing temp[late, and go Menu > Insert > Bookmark

Adding a Bookmark to a Pages document created from a template

No matter what I select, the "+" button to add a bookmark from the Inspector remains grey and unclickable. When I create a document from scratch, this is not the case. How do I place bookmarks in documents created from a Pages template? I look forward eagerly to y'all's help!

It has to be in that default text area, nothing else is scanned, same applies for T.O.C.
You can copy and paste over your text from one mode to the other.
If you use Layout breaks etc in a WP document you can create a newsletter template.
Personally I avoid Layout mode as it is the poor cousin in both features and programming time spent by Apple.

A T.O.C. bookmarks itself, although this is flawed in Pages 5.
Are you asking how do you index what is to appear in a T.O.C.?
Insert > T.O.C. > It will ask you which paragraph styles you wish to index (usually the top 1-3 heading styles and then it does it.

8.0 "Previous Document" BOOKMARK Action

The "Previous Document" Command from the (Execute a menu item) BOOKMARK ACTIONS does not seem to work in either Adobe 8.0 (professional or reader). Can anybody think of a solution to this problem or lead me down the right path? The feature works fine from the Dropdown menu & with the Key Stroke Alt>Shift>Left Arrow. Thanks

I have experienced the same problem, except that it only occurs if I move to a different page in the target document before selecting the bookmark to return to the prior document. The only solution I have found so far is to use Acrobat 7.0 or Acrobat Reader 7.0.9, in which the bookmark will work.
I called Adobe Product Support today to ask about the problem, but they could not help me because I was using the trial version of 8.0 (I already own 7.0, and will only update if this problem is fixed, so it is a Catch-22 situation.

I'm using the Office WebApp in my SharePoint 2013 environment and I have
a question regarding the Word WebApp. Is it possible to open a document
at a specific page (or bookmark) using a parameter? E.g

Is there a way to set the default Initial View to Bookmarks Panel and Page on word documents that I save as PDF?

When I save my word 2013 documents as Adobe PDF I have to open the PDF up, go to File>Properties>Initial View>Navigation Tab and then set the initial view as Bookmark Panel and Page; it gets pretty tedious.
I use Save as Adobe PDF rather than Print to Adobe PDF Printer because I like being able to have the security settings automatically set.
I just want to be able to save my word document as Adobe PDF with the initial view already set as Bookmark Panel and Page, and with security, so I can send it out immediately.
Is this possible?

How do I restore links to bookmarks in Pages documents in OS X 10.9?

When using Mountain Lion I created numerous links between Pages documents and to bookmarks within Pages documents. After converting to Mavericks none of those links works and I cannot find a way of restoring those links. Suggestions?

After trying a variety of approaches, I was virtually certain that the feature had been eliminated (as you knew). I was dismayed that the Pages 4.3 bookmarks and links didn't work in Pages 5.0 since I had created hundreds of business documents using those features.
On the advice of Alexander Wolff and the local Apple store, I've restored Pages 4.3 and retrieved the documents I had converted to Pages 5.0 from my Time Machine.
Per your suggestion, I'm leaving feedback for the Pages team.

Adding a Bookmark into a Page Layout document

I cannot insert a bookmark into a Page Layout doc? Only a word processing doc? Garsh that doesn't seem right at all. But the bookmark Plus button and the Insert Menu option are grayed out unless I create a word proc doc - nope I need a layout doc. Help.
Can't search yet - due to site maintenance.

I disagree that the word processing mode was added in iWork '08/Pages 3. Pages 1 & 2 had the default text layer as does the word processing mode. In every way it continues to function just as the single mode available in the prior versions. When page layout mode was added that default text layer was removed requiring the user to put in some type of object - text box, graphic, table, etc. - before text could be entered.
I think of page layout more like AppleWorks' draw, it's a blank slate. Pages' word processing is like AppleWorks word processing in that you can switch to an object mode & place text boxes, etc. as floating or place them inline. I think the Pages programmers added the mode because there were so many posts/complaints with users not understanding that the text layer was always there.

Set default Initial View to Bookmarks Panel and Page on all new docs

Hello Acrobat Experts,
We convert *many* Word docs to PDF. We have PDFMaker force security on all docs. Now every document has the security settings we want.
That works.
We want to force the default Initial View to be Bookmarks Panel and Page so that *every* new document shows the Bookmark Panel and the Page.
We don't want to set this per document (which is a multi-setp process and a hassle, especially now that security is enabled) but globally for all new documents created by Adobe Acrobat.
Any and all advice is most welcome.

The article I pointed to in my Oct 20, 2009 post #3 contains two pointers that might assist to initially open the PDF fitting the page to the window.
I think you may be after "Vire [/Fit]" as described in the article;
[ /PageMode /UseOutlines
/Page 1 /View [/Fit ]
/DOCVIEW pdfmark
These lines of code open your PDF document with the bookmarks panel open. If you just want the document on its own try "UseNone" instead of "UseOutlines". Here are some additional values:
/Page 1 opens the PDF on page 1
View [/Fit ] opens the PDF Fit to page
And the article points to the PDFMark reference where you might look at Actions and Destinations on page 47.
I've not tried to do this myself so would you be kind enough to post your result and let us know the version of Acrobat you're using?

Problem Adding Bookmark to Contents Page??

Hi,
I am trying to create a preface page to my book in iBooks Author. I want this preface page to basically give hyperlinks to all of the seperate chapter TOC's so that the user can click on the name of the chapter, and will be taken to that chapter's contnets page. And will look like this:
With each of the poem titles above, linking to each of the Contents Pages, which look like this:
However, I cannot seem to add any bookmarks to the page directly above, due to it being all placeholder and automatically generated text. Any suggestions as to how I can add a bookmark to this page?

according to what I know this issue is related to how DW works and not to the Developer Toolbox as such -- DW can be a little picky when it comes to the "document structure" it expects, and
(depending what document parts you´re actually "including") won´t let you do certain actions like e.g. adding a server behaviour just because it "thinks" the
(probably "included" ?) body tag isn´t there.

I looked into this. From what I read, I don't think this is
supposed to work from compiled help. It can work from WebHelp. What
you are looking for is a "named destination" in Acrobat, not a
"bookmark." Apparently these are two separate things, but the named
destination is accessed like an HTML bookmark, e.g. <A
HREF="filename.pdf#destination>. You can also use a page number,
e.g. <A HREF="filename.pdf#page=4">

So for example when a student came to word he/she did not know, if he/she hovered the cursor over the word, a defintion or other information would appear. You can do this in Word using bookmarks/hyperlinks but I can't figure this out in Pages. I can link it to another point in my Pages document but I just need the text to pop up - not take the reader to another location. THANK YOU!!!!!!

How do i upload Pages documents and folders to iCloud and make sure they sync on all my devices?

I'm new to iCloud and don't really know how to use it yet. I have a desktop Mac, a Macbook Pro laptop and an iPad. Currently all my Pages documents are on my desktop computer. I would like to upload them to iCloud and then have it set so that they automatically sync and I can access them on all my devices. I want to make sure I always have the most up to date version of a document when I open it on any device, without having to update manually. Can anyone tell me please how I do this? Can I keep them in folders (there are a lot of documents!).
Also, because I just upgraded Pages and was previously using Pages 09 it keeps asking me each time I open a document if I want to upgrade it to the current Pages. Can I somehow set this as default now so I won't keep having to say yes?

To use icloud, enable it (using the same Apple ID) on all your devices. If you move a document that already exists to iCloud, it will automatically be available to all your devices. Ditto on new doc: if you save it to icloud when you name it, it will automatically be available to all your devices. If you make a change on one device, you'll be prompted on other devices to pick the one you want to keep,
One BIG proviso: pages 5.1, and Pages for icloud, are VERY BUGGY. Users here complain of corrupted files, lost data, the program hanging, etc. DO NOT user them for anything you care about.
Also, Pages 5.1, as exhaustively documented here, is a pale shadow of Pages 4.3. Nearly a hundred features present in 4.3 are not present in Pages 5.1, including such basic things as mail merge, bookmarks, meaningful Applescript and Services support. You cannot even set the default zoom, reliably export documents with links to a PDF, or view comments while editing (nor can you print comments). It is useless for page layout since you can no longer view a page spread, nor set alernating left/right margins and headers and footers. A lot of advance typographical support has gone missing, too. Non contgious text selection? Gone. How many pages in your document? You have to dig down in the little "word count" bubble (after turning it on) to find out. Why? As an early review put it, Pages 5 is an "unmitigated disaster."
To stop being promted to update, go to system preferences and uncheck "automatically check for updates."
