Bookmark drop downs that go outside the Firefox window are left on the desktop when bookmarks closed requiring a refresh to clean up

If I open Bookmarks and select a folder that is longer than the Firefox window is high, the part of the bookmarks list that falls outside the window remains on the desktop when I leave bookmarks or close the window. I must then do a refresh of the desktop to get rid of the junk. Does not happen with MS IE9. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium on a SONY VAIO laptop. It started when I went to the VAIO last November. A "Show Desktop" or a refresh of the desktop cleans it up.

Could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches with some graphic cards/drivers.
You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

What are the icons that appear on the desktop when I download a program?

OK, new to the Mac so please be gentle with me!
I've downloaded some programs on my Macbook Pro. The .dmg file appears and I click on it to install the program. However, there is an icon placed on the desktop for the program, as well as it appearing on the launch bar. What are these icons for, and can I delete them without affecting the program?
Also, I'm trying to install HTC Sync for my phone but when I run the install, I get the message "HTC Sync Manager can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers." How do I clear this and run the program?
As I say, new to the Mac so be gentle with me.

before firefox 4.0 i was able to go straight to a page several pages back by clicking the drop down arrow, then clicking the desired site address. now i have to click the back button over and over until i reach the desired site. what a pain! absence of this feature alone makes me want to go back to version 3.6XXX

I was also desperate no to find my arrow after updating Firefox so I did some research --which by the way is quite difficult when you do not know what to call that arrow-- but thankfully I arrived here fairly quickly.

You need to select the "Manage My Account" link and not the "Reset Your Password" link. Once you use the "Manage My Account" it will ask you to log in and in there you should see which email addresses are verified.

The add-on "Disconnect" no longer displays the drop down menu properly after updating Firefox to v29.

This add-on extension "Disconnect", after upgrading to Firefox 29 now displays only a tiny drop down box when clicked vs the full drop down menu. Before the upgrade it worked fine. It does this whether adding it to the tool icons in the upper right of the window (left of the new Firefox dropdown menu) or whether adding it to the Firefox menu itself as an additional icon. The extension appears to work in terms of blocking adds/tracking, as before, just can't see what is in the drop down menu. Already tried disabling and re-enabling, no change.

To all, embarrassingly enough, I have discovered that I didn't know how to expand the three categories including 'Bookmarks Menu' in the 'Bookmark This Page' pop up interface. It was expanded by default on the initial Firefox opening and first page bookmark attempt. Next use it only showed categories. I clicked and double clicked the 'Bookmarks Menu' line, but failed to see the small, shaded triangle used to expand/collapse list. If it appears collapsed, just tap triangle at left of line to see all folders. It seems to open the same way after I do it for first time. You will find that this is application dependent. Most Apple applications such as Safari and Mail will use the "sheet" type of dialog boxes that you are referring. There is no way for the user to change that behavior. Other, non-Apple, applications like Firefox use a "modal" dialog box for printing etc. The modal boxes can be moved around so you can see the page behind.

I use this for my mobile, on-site auto repair business and not being able to call up repair and diagnostic info and reference for some cars is troublesome for sure. It works fine on the computer and I have installed a remote desktop app as a workaround but it is unreliable because the desktop is not business dedicated and may be off or in use at the time. So is there a known fix for this?
Let me paint a more descriptive picture, visualize 4 drop down selection menus, first one is for year, next one is for make, 3rd one is model and the last one is for engine size/type. If I wanted to choose a 2012 vehicle it wont work because it is the top selection on the list. This can be forced by selecting any other year and then coming back to 2012. Ok fine, but then let's say I wanted to choose Acura as the make, well it won't take it because again it's the top selection. Again you work around it be selecting any other make and coming back to Acura. Ok now select the model, same trend follows. But now since most Acura vehicles come with dedicated engines and no optional engines I have only 1 selection in that final drop down menu and it will not take my selection and therefore never let me proceed to the info I need.
This is also true when ordering parts from my wholesaler's website, they use drop downs and I can only get to that last drop down and then I'm stuck. This is blindingly frustrating, what options do I have. I'm not opposed to any avenue at this point.

Did you ever figure this out? I bought my iPad last week to use in my business as well. I assume you are trying to use alldata? That is where I noticed this same issue. I had problems with identifix working with safari but downloaded a different browser and that works fine. Alldata does not work with either browser. The main difference is that on identifix if there is only one engine selection, it automatically selects the only option and continues to the home page. With alldata you have to make the selection manually even if there is only one option. Honestly if I can't get this to work I am going to return the iPad as it looses a significant amount of usefulness to men

Unless a good explanation appears, you may start onthe list below.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Drop Down - maintaining Order of the List Problem

I have a Drop Down where the Code is

 </h:selectOneMenu>It is rendered properly and I can see the value in my backing bean when the Drop Down value changes.
Currently the Values in the Drop Down is in the same order as they are in the List which is populated in the Backing Bean. The Drop Down Component is common for all pages and is like a Header for all the pages.
My question is if I have 3 Values in the Drop Down and the User selects the 2nd Option is there a way to keep the Order of the Drop Down Values same but have the 2nd Option Selected in the Drop Down.
So until the User changes the Drop Down Values himself the Value selected by User is displayed as the selected Value.
e.g.
Jack Displayed Currently
John
Sarah
Now User select 2nd Option.
Jack
John Now in the subsequent pages JOHN should appear in the drop down by default but and the order of drop down remains same.

One way to do is to alter the Order of the list and then by default the first option is shown in the Drop Down, but I dont want to alter the List order.

Just set the value of #{myBean.yCode} to the user selected value during the subsequent page loads which use the same drop down.
I guess that will do the trick.

Hi Jerald,
You can't assign null to the display value of a drop down control. If you change the HUD activity number array to remove the null it should work.
That is;
