Bookmark Web application within NW2004s Portal

Hello all,
we are publishing BW Web Application in our NW 2004s Portal. So far we still using the BW release 3.5.
Before we used the portal, we published our BW Web application in the Bex browser. After the user open and navigate within the appliaction he can bookmark the application and save the filtered and drilled status as favorite.
Is it possible to create and save a bookmark in order to save the drill-down status of the report within the portal? After I have tried to bookmark the web application the URL still remains.
Any help would be great.
Best Regards,
Stefan from Munich/Germany

Hello Santosh,
we already published the web application via iView in our portal.
What I am looking for is to bookmark an already published web application within EP portal. E.g. I open the web application with specific filter and make some drills. Now I want to bookmark this report situation and save the generated url under my favorites.
For me this is not working. When I click the bookmark option noting happened. My address bar url also not changed; no bookmark URL was created.
Please help ......

Stefan from Munich Germany

  • Exposing a Form-Driven Web Application within a Portlet

    Hi All,
    I'm having a bit of a problem exposing a form-driven Web-Application within a portlet window.
The web-application I'm working with utilizes the Oracle XSQL servlet and is basically a collection of .XSQL pages which are formatted using .XSL stylesheets that produce output HTML for the client.
The application contains hyperlinks for navigation, but is largely Form driven.
The application has already been deployed into an Oracle Application Server 10g container as a J2EE object(.ear file), and is fully functional and accessible over the web.
In order to expose this application thru a Portlet window I utilized the Url-based provider services that come with the Oracle PDK. This allowed me to set up a simple URL-based provider for the site without any coding whatsoever. I also included inline rendering declarations to force the application response to be rendered within the Portlet window.
This setup works fine when only hyperlinks are used to navigate thru the application, however, Forms do not appear to work with this setup. Everytime a form is submitted, the data is posted to the Portlet which fails to pass it thru to the underlying web application. Instead the Action="somepage.xsql" parameter is appended to the URL of the Portal itself thus returning a "page not found",etc... error.
After much OTN searching I have found that the PDK 10.1.2 URL services package does not support Forms for inline rendering. Thus this solution comes close but falls short of what I need.
I was wondering if anyone can point me to a solution that would:
    1) allow me to display the entire web application within a Portlet window (app only outputs HTML & some client-side javascript, but takes POST requests to the XSQL Servlet)
    2) without modifying it's current Form-driven interface, or any of the application's underlying code for that matter,
    3) and without having to resort to java coding the Portlet interface.
The URL-Based Provider setup is almost perfect, I just need to find a way to allow forms to pass thru to the underlying application so that it's response can be rendered correctly.
    Current Setup:
Oracle Application Server (Portal & Wireless) 10.1.2g
    J2EE with OC4J_containers.
    Oracle XSQL Servlet (ver 10)
    Windows 2000 OS

I tried that, the default "Base URL" provides the "Display Option" attribute but only gives me these 2 options:
    - Full browse window link
    - New browser window link
I have also tried other items that use "Base URL" (Simple URL, UrlItem, URL) and are all the same thing. The only items I could find (relevant to this need) and provide the option "Item displayed in page area" were:
    - "Page link" item
    - "External Application" portlet
I even created a fresh Instant Portal to recreate the defaults and add the URL item again, but nothing :(

  • How to use servlets in portal web application in Weblogic Portal 4.0

We are developing a Portal Web application using Weblogic Portal 4.0 where in we
have the following scenario. one JSP in webflow of a portlet calls the PipeLine
which does some processing and calls the servlet which is having the typical download
functionality. The servlet is supposed to read the data from the pipeline session
and create a CSV String that is dumped to the client browser. The problem is even
we are doing response.setContentType("application/save") in the servlet it is
still displaying the content as html in the portlet. I guess since all our request
are send to the webflow contolling servlet and it is setting the content type
and hence our servlet is not working. How do I solve this problem? Thanks Yogesh

  • Create Web Service within the Portal

    Hi, all.
I want to use SAP Portal for generating Portal web services on a base of some external procedures.
But to use NWDS in such way as to implement this procedure in EJB and create a web service for it seems not the best solution for me.
Are there any other ways to do it? For example, are there any utilities that can help me to generate a web service within the Portal?

  • How to integrate custom web application within Fusion Environment?

    Hi all,
I have created a simple custom web application with JDeveloper (11.1.1.6.2).
From JDeveloper this application is running successfully through the IntegratedWebLogicServer connected with our Fusion Database.
Now I want to integrate this custom web application within our our Fusion Environment (11.1.4).
The final goal is to make it available inside the navigator menu in Fusion Applications.
I need some guidance how to get this done.
For example I have created an EAR-file. Where should this file be deployed?
How can I create an entry in the navigation menu pointing to this web application?
The web application should be handled just like seeded pages. (no additional security, login, etc.) How do I manage that?
I have checked several Oracle Guides and forums (also blogs.oracle.com/fadevrel), but still it is not clear to me.
Maybe I am on the wrong track, I don't know.
    Kind regards,
    Cor van Dongen

How you deploy your EAR depends on the type of environment you have. For "OnSite" deployment you would need to contact the production system administrator to have your application deployed on the production WLS. The administrator would decide where and how the application is deployed, the process would be specific to the site.
The security behavior depends on the configuration, e.g. when you enable security on your application various [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/b31974/adding_security.htm#BGBDEHFH]files are created / updated. When deployed to production these configurations need to be changed to suite the production instance, i.e. in development environments authentication is enforced by security constraints while in production this is achieved e.g. using OAM policies. The specific details depend on the instance.
For Cloud environments you would need to deploy the application e.g. on [url https://cloud.oracle.com/mycloud/f?p=service:home:0]Java Cloud Service instance as applications cannot be deployed on the Cloud production instance.
To integrate with the navigator menu refer to the [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15586_01/fusionapps.1111/e16691/ext_nm.htm]Customizing the Navigator Menu documentation.

See the details for the exception ID in the log file
Further to add is that when i access the same BI application using the URL Iview, it's wokring absolutely fine. Can somebody identify the problem with the BEx Web Application Iview and suggest a suitable remedy for the same??.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sarabjeet.

    Hello,
You can download these components from Service Market Place (service.sap.com/swdc) and:
Download -> Support Packages and Patches -> Entry by Application Group -> "Support Packages and Patches" -> "SAP NetWeaver" -> "SAP NETWEAVER" -> "SAP NETWEAVER 2004S" -> "Entry by Component" -> "BI Java":
    BI BASE SERVICES 7.00
    BI WEB APPLICATIONS 7.00
You have to download the SP that equals your APAP SP.
Normally, these SCAs will be installed with installation of "BI Usage Type" of the J2EE engine.

  • Bex Web Application Designer issue: portal communication error

    hi experts,
I am working with Bex Web Application Designer in BI7. we are using SP9. When i try to use the Web template its giving below error.
The Requested operation could not be performed due to portal communication error.
its message class is RSBOPLAP and message number is 018 and description is Java System error: An unknown error occured During portal communication.
when i double click the below error details given.
    Diagnosis
An error occurred in the BI components on the SAP J2EE Engine.
    System Response
    Procedure
Contact your system administrator to have the error analyzed in detail.
    Procedure for System Administration
Start the Visual Administrator, log on to the SAP J2EE Engine and choose "<J2EE_SID>" ->"Server" -> "Services" -> "Log Viewer".
The file "defaultTrace.trc" includes detailed information about the error that occurred. In Windows, you can find this file in the Log Viewer under "Cluster <computer name>" -> "Server <server number>" -> "<drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\JC<INSTANCE>\j2ee\cluster\server<NUMBER>\log". ". In Unix, the file is located under "/usr/sap/<SID>/JC<INSTANCE>/j2ee/cluster/server<NUMBER>/log".
If the file does not include enough detail about the error, you can increase the log level to obtain more information. To do this, choose "<J2EE_SID>" -> "Server" -> "Services" -> "Log Configurator". On the "Locations" tab page, choose "com" -> "sap" -> "ip" -> "bi" -> "webapplications". Using the selection list on the right side of the screen, you can increase the log level, whereby "DEBUG" represents the log level with the most information. You can save your settings by choosing the "Save" icon. The change to the log level is active immediately. Once you have successfully analyzed the error, you should set the log level back to its default value using the appropriate pushbutton; continuous writing to the log file negatively affects the overall performance of the system.
please give solutions to resolve the issue.
    regards

  • Question about how to integrate struts web application into Weblogic Portal

hi, I'm using Weblogic8.1 Portal and workshop to integrate my existing struts web applications. I know that the struts web application can be imported and integrated as a portlet. But I'm not sure how to integrate the corresponding EJB module into portal?
    any help appreciated!!

    should be simple...
copy all the jpfs and other classes appropriately into a new portal app.
Create a new Java Page Flow portlet.
    That should be it.
The major thing to watch for is how your navigation etc change.

does anybody knows how multiple web apps communicate in Portal? How are data exchanged?
is there a global session or something like this?

    Viren,
I guess you must choose the required version of BEx Web: SAP BW 2.x/3.x or SAP NetWeaver BI (valid for SAP NetWeaver 2004s and higher).   Please try by checking the SAP NetWeaver BI  for Iviews

  • Integrate a web application to a portal

I need some information or pointers (even better) and answers to 2
    questions
    1. I have a web app using jsps and servlets. If I want to integrate
this app to a portal, what is the right approach? (considering the
fact that the app have a lot of jsp)
Assuming portlet is the way to go; how should I merge the user
interface of my existing app to the portlet?
    2. Is web services only provided data, but not including any kind of
    format information e.g. html tags?
    thank you
    -Daniel Chau

With regard to your first question - porting web-app to portal, you will need to
    focus on 2 areas:
    1. Navigation between pages within your current web-app. These will need to be
ported to the BEA workflow framework so URLs can be resolved at run-time by the
    portal framework.
    2. Access control. If you have access control - then you will need to port this
    to the portal framework.
Outside of these 2 issues - what you need to do - from a high level - is create
a portlet which will house your web-app and move your jsp / other resources to
the portlet directory. Update the web.xml file to reflect any resources you are
using or special configuration, e.g., tag-libs.....
Sorry i don't understand your second question...

  • Integrating existing Web application with Oracle Portal

    Hi,
I have an existing application which is purely written in servlets and which is in use for quite some time. I have a requirement now of moving this application onto the Oracle Portal.
I was just wondering if we have any quick meanse of doing this or we have to re develop from scratch in oracle Portal server(ByDefining page, Page templates..etc).
    Advance thanks for your help
    Thanks
    Sreedhar

What do you mean with "moving this application onto the Oracle Portal"?
The best expedite way is use in the portal a LINK that direct your users to the actual app.
Another quick thing you could do is use the IFRAME TAG (only works in IE). This way you can embed your app in Portal (show it in some area in portal)
    Then comes the complex things:
    - You can activate SSO to your applications ( which is not THAT difficult)
    - You can PORTLATIZATE your app, this doesn't means that you have to rewrite all, but still you need to write in a "Oracle Java Way" some thing to get it work..
You can see this link if you're using portal 10.1.2:

  • SSO to Web Application from Portal

    Hi,
I am working on a scenario where I need to access a Web Application from the Portal.
I read about the Application Integrator that is provided by the Portal .
I wanted to know that can I only have SSO to those Web Application that accept the userid and password and as URL parameters using Application Integrator , ie: those applications that have post method cannot be integrated.
Please help me out with clearing this doubt.
    Thnx,
    Pravesh Puria.

    Hi  Abdulbasit ,
Please give me more details , we have a Lotes Notes Web application hosted on Domino server , another is J2EE based application. I need to achieve SSO to each of these applications from the SAP Portal.
I followed the below listed steps:
Created two systems one for each Web application based on the template generated from the application integrator. I entered the user mapping values for both the systems.
I also created two IViews. When I preview , the logon page of the web application opens but the user credentials are not passed to the application.
Please help me with the steps to achieve the SSO , from the reply I interpret that Logon ticket method was used to achieve the SSO and user mapping.
My email id is : [email protected]
It will be of immense help to me.
    Thnx,

  • Problems with F4 Value Help in NW2004s Portal

    Hello,
we are having some troubles with the F4 ValueHelp Extension from the Advanced BSP Programming book (and the blogs of course).
We've implemented the solution on a 4.7 backend and portal 6.0. No problems there, everything was working fine.
We now moved to erp2005 (WebAS 700) and NW2004s Portal (7.0).
The popup shows and I can select entries from the list. But when clicking the ok icon a javascript error is thrown stating that 'parent.document.getElementById(...)' is null or no object.
I think the problem is, that by making a call to 'parent' we are searching in the portal frame and not the BSP. There (in the portal frame) the element is not known so the error is thrown.
I allready changed from the dialog_ie6.js provided on the BookCD to the one delivered by SAP. Did nothing regarding the error.
I also tried changing ZCL_BSP_M_INPUT_HELP->BUILD_ACCEPT_SELECTION_SCRIPT. I changed all the "parent.document.get..." "to document.get...". The error message was still the same, 'parent.document.getElementById(...)' is null or no object.
So now I'm kind of stuck. If I try the example outside the portal everything works as expected. So this clearly seems to be a problem with the portal integration. All involved BSP-Apps are marked as "supports portal integration".
    Any ideas on this topic?
    Thanks and kind regards,
    Alexander Sperling

I have a working solution to the problem.  It isn't the nicest solution because it will probably require some modifications to the application that hosts the value help, but we will get to that in a second.
I tried many different ways to come up with a solution that would still work via JavaScript. The portal is now loading the popup javascript in the master frame.  It registers event handlers so that if any application triggers a popup internally it "hi-jacks" the event.  So regardless of what I change in the BSP javascript library, it gets overriden by the portal one. The portal also now even enforeces its theme on the inner page in the popup.  Truly the portal takes complete control over the inner html of the popup.
To make things worse the popop has not path to reach the source that triggered it.  The source objects are tracked in the javascript, but because the master frame takes over; the popup window only has access and visibility to the master frame and the navigation frame.  In essence in the DOM it is now higher in the stack than the object that actually triggered it.
Web Dynpro gets around this because it doesn't use any client side mechanisms to communicate it results back to the source frame. Web Dynpro has the luxury of always being stateful and therefore can make certain assumptions that would never work in BSP.  The hi-jacking is an excellent solution for Web Dynpro.  The portal can then override the functionality of Web Dynpro - providing the new functionality of floating the dialog box over the entire portal - without having to make any changes to the Web Dynpro Framework.  However they never had our little BSP solution in bind obviously.
It might be possible to completely rewrite the popup_ie.js and popup_ns.js to use all different event, method and variable names.  This separate version could then provide complete separation from the portal script. However this is just a theory. I'm afraid that I wouldn't have the bandwidth to rewrite the entire script right now so I focused on a quicker solution.
The only approach that I could come up was to follow the Web Dynpro approach and return to the server with the value. To do that I used Portal Eventing.  Portal Eventing allows us to pass a value to the source frame regaurdless of our relative positions in the DOM.
In my inner BSP application for the value help (ZES_VALUEHELP), I made the following change in the model method BUILD_ACCEPT_SEL_SCRIPT_V2.  At line 141 I changed the logic.  Instead of using JavaScript to write the selected value back into the source element, we will just trigger a Portal Event:
****With an InputField we write the contents directly back into the element
          ELSE.
            CONCATENATE me->js_close1
            `portalFireEvent('com.sap','`
            me->element_id
            `',"`
            key
            `");`
             INTO me->js_close1.
            EXIT.
The other change is within the Element handler class for inputHelpV2 - ZCL_ES_BSP_ELMNT_INPUT_HELP_V2.  We need to register the listener for the Portal Event. Therefore in DO_AT_BEGINNING we will add the follwing at line 23 (right after we place the Element Id into the URL Parameters Table.
data: portal_event type ref to cl_portal_event.
      portal_event = cl_portal_event=>factory(
        name = <wa_params>-value
        namespace = 'com.sap' ).
      while m_page_context->element_process( element = portal_event ) = co_element_continue.
      endwhile. "End portalEvent Render
Overally using the portal eventing actually is an intersting approach.  There is only one drawback, now we have a server side event.  That being the case, our application now needs some event logic to process this event and populate the value. Depending upon if you are using MVC, Data Binding, or Flow Logic this could vary - and would have to handled by each application. The nice thing about the old approach was that it all happened via JavaScript on the Frontend and didn't require the application programmer to do anything - that was obviously its weakness as well.
