Bookmark with Variable screem

Dear all,
I want the user to have the variable screen shown when the user tries to open a bookmark. In my case if the user makes some navigational changes to the report and bookmark it, and access it again at a later state, it take directly to the report. However, I would like a variable screen to be shown so that the user can change the period values and execute so the data is shown for the given period but the Navigational state still remains the same.
Could you please help me with he Java script code how I can add &VARIABLE_SCREEN=X at the end of the bookmark url automatically.

Ah yes... we no longer use the standard 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN template. We had a custom toolbar installation back in 3.X and re-touched for our 7.0 upgrade. Unfortunately, I can't give out the code as it would be a copyright violation. However, good news is that even with the standard template, you can still accomplish the same task.
I would highly recommend that you save a backup of your 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN template... make 2 copies even, just to be safe. You'll have to add in a new button... you can add it in the same object as the other save button (default should be: BUTTON_OPEN_SAVE), In there, anywhere you wish, add in a new button. In the button wizard, add in your caption, etc.. Design should be default and Action is going to be "Command via Command Wizard". On the command line when you click the button to open the wizard, your going to want to find the command called: "Save Bookmark" [SAVE_BOOKMARK]. This will be under the "Commands for Web templates" folder.
Once you've selected it to add the next screen should allow you to check a box that sais: "Add to Browser Favorites". Make sure that's checked, and then put in a default title...perhaps the name of the report?. Now just make sure that the Web Template properties has the "Display Variable Selection Screen" checked. After that, save it and try it out. It should still add in the favorite to their IE Favorites folder, and when executed, it should prompt them with the variable screen first... I did a quick test to verify that it would work before I started making this post, and I was prompted with a variable screen.

We're using the bookmarks in portal of N2004s.
If someone starts a bookmark it's possible to bring the user first to the variable screen. But I recognized that the userexit is not activated for some variables after changing them.
concret:
I called a report with time-selection week = 10.2007 - the report has keyfigures which are restricted by a userexit variable which is previous year (calculated by time selection - 1year) - so the report shows me the keyfigures with previous year 10.2006 and 10.2007 - I save this as a bookmark.
calling the bookmark with this link: &bookmark=46LQ49TMUQ8BRH3O91VEH0XMK&variable_screen=X
the bookmark shows me first the variable screen. The user can change then the time-selection. But when i change now the time-selection in the variable screen from 10.2007 to 20.2007 I get in the report stll 10.2006 and 20.2007.
So it seems to me the bookmark doesn't run through the user exit to fill the variable "previous year".
How can this be activated?

I debugged now the user exit and it seems as following:
- calling a bookmark with selection_screen=x but without the parameter clear_variables=x does run through the user exits step 1 to 3 before showing the variable screen. After changing a variable the user exit is only enabled for step 3 and not anymore for step 2 - that's why the previous year is not updated.
- calling the bookmark with selection_screen=x and clear_variables=x runs user exit with step 1 before selection screen and then after entering variables step 2 and 3 - and the previous year is filled correctly. But this is not useable, because the user want's to have selection variables prefilled.
Has someone an idea how to bring the bookmark without clear_variables=x to the point to run the step 2 in user exit after changing variables in selection screen?

Issue with variable values while adding report to Bookmarks/Favorites

Hello All,
I am able to save the reports from my portal as bookmarks with the appropiate navigation state & variable values for reports which do not have a mandatory value variable with no default value. For all other queries like queries with no mandatory variables or queries containing mandatory variables with default values, this is working fine. Any inputs is appreciated. We are in BI7.0 with SP12.

Error in Looping with variable

A cursor fetch loop is not the ideal processing structure.
It is slow. It requires data to travel from the buffer cache of the database into PL/SQL variables (in the PGA). It requires context switching between the PL/SQL and SQL engines.
It does not scale. More rows means more data to travel that path from the SQL engine to the PL/SQL engine. More loop iterations in PL/SQL. If a single loop iteration (for processing a row) is 1ms, then a 100,000 rows will take a 100 seconds. 200,000 rows 200 seconds. Etc. This clearly does not scale with an increase in data volume.
Also keep in mind that DBMS_OUTPUT does not write to screen or display anything. It is incapable of accessing a client device as it executes inside a server process. So if your loop is for a 1000 rows, it means writing a 1000 lines of text into very expensive server memory - and then expecting the client to read that afterwards and display it. Why? This is not a standard client-server method. It also does not scale. It can actually crash the server when this method is abused.
The standard method would be to create a SQL cursor using PL/SQL code, and then return a reference handle (pointer) to the client. This allows the client the ability to fetch data directly from the cursor - in an optimal way that does not consume expensive server memory.I have to say it: I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to write this whenever it needs to be written rather than just giving up and letting people stumble along with bad design - it must take a lot of mental stamina to keep doing it. One day it will sink into my head also :-)

Dynamic target directory with variable substitution

Hi everyone.
I'm trying to save a file in a folder with receiver adapter.
This folder is determined in runtime and passed to the adapter with variable substitution. My problem is that in RWB i get a error like this : 'Content of variable XXXXX is not safe'
Does anybody have done a variable substituion for output directory receiver file adapter?

Hi! I have a problem with variables in Crystal Reports formulas, when using CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.CrystalReportViewer class from VS2005-project. I am having the same problem:
I am designing a report in Crystal Reports XI Developer that contains parameters, which are passed to a stored procedure and are also used within formulas ( in Crystal Syntax ie. {?FORMAT_ID} ) in the report itself.
I can run the report successfully in CRXI Developer. The formulas use the correct values from the parameters entered during execution and everything looks good.
I then deploy the report to Business Objects Enterprise XI. I do all of the things necessary to manage the report including setting up the proper database connection information and default parameter values.
When I run the report using the Crystal Report Viewer, I get the following error message:
Error in File Forecasting.rpt:
Error in formula <Report Format>.
'if (not isNull({?FORMAT_ID} ) ) then
This field name is not known.
Details: errorKind
This happens when I press the "Preview" button in the Manage Object dialog from Crystal or when I run the report using InfoView.
I have changed the formulas and it doesn't seem to matter what the specific content of the formula is; other than the existence of a parameter reference in the formula. If I comment out the parameter and replace it with a hard-coded value, it gets through the formula fine.
Does Business Objects Enterprise XI support crystal reports with parameter references in the formulas?

Issue with Variable Personalisation in Bex Report

Hi Gurus,
I'm facing a typical problem with Variable presonalisation in the Report.
I've executed a BEX Report and filtered data on some characteristics and used SAVE AS Button on the Portal to save the resultset. When I'm trying to use the variants, again say after 2 or 3 days i couldn't find updated data for particular variants upon using the same variants rather its refelecting the old data. Further more when I execute the report and try filtering on the same criteria altogether, I'm able to see updated result set.
Is there any setting to be enabled when we personalise variants or variants are dependent on the data or the date on which they are created. Not sure why the reports are behaving this way. Or Do I need to create variants time and again.
Any pointers would be of great help.

Hello,
In the BEx report, when you get the variable selection screen there input your selection and at the bottom you have the option of saving them as a variant.
Now in future when you run the report simply use this variant and execute the report. It should work fine.
Also remember date selection can be tricky. If you input todays date in the variant, it wil consider the same date in further references. So do a check on that too.

My How can I sync my bookmarks with my browser of choice on PC so i can have same bookmarks and bookmark-folders in my PC browser as I have made on my iOS device?

I have saved bookmarks on my iOS device and neately organized them as well. I want my IE or Chrome to import those bookmarks so i can have a copy of each in my computer. Plus I would prefer the same arrangement in my browser as on my iOS device. Is there any way of achieving this using iCloude?
In short, i want to importe my bookmarks from iPad to Windows PC browser (i would prefer firefox, but chrome is also a fine option).

On your iOS device, go to Settings>iCloud, sign in with your Apple ID to create your iCloud account and turn Safari to On. Then set up iCloud on your PC as explained here: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html, and check Bookmarks. The requirements for syncing bookmarks with iCloud are:
Windows 7 or Windows 8
iCloud Control Panel 3.0
Internet Explorer 9
Firefox 22
Google Chrome 28 (desktop mode only)
Not sure if the bookmark organization will be the same on your PC or not.

How do I create an interactive PDF file with variable data

We would like to basically do a 'mail merge' of our list of customers with an interactive PDF file (including videos, menus, etc - not just form fill out and web links) to create a single PDF file that contains multiple mail pieces ... one for each customer ... with each mail piece being customized for that customer. Customizations would include different greetings (Dear Bob, Dear Dana, etc), as well as different charts based on data unique to the customer, different photographs, etc.
I've seen that InDesign and Acrobat Professional can be used to create an interactive PDF (such as from http://tv.adobe.com/watch/ask-the-adobe-ones/14-calling-rufus-about-interactive-pdf-making). However I don't understand how I can insert data from a database, csv file, excel file etc into the PDF file so that each page, or each set of pages, within the PDF can be customized.
Can anyone point me to a tool to use for this?

You can make the menu bar appear by presssing the Alt key. You can print from the File menu.

New iPhone 6. Windows 8 desktop. Running Firefox browser as my default. Would like to sync my Bookmarks with Safari on iPhone 6.

New iPhone 6. This s my first iPhone. Windows 8 laptop. Running Mozilla Firefox browser as my default. Would like to sync my Firefox Bookmarks with Safari on iPhone 6.
It would be nice if Firefox was available on the iPhone, but apparently it is not.
If I could do a direct sync of Bookmarks between Firefox on a W8 machine and the iPhone, that would be nice.
Assuming I can't, I have installed Safari of my W8 laptop,
I exported my Bookmarks from Firefox, and then imported them in Safari.
First question:
Safari shows my Bookmarks in a way that is different from Firefox. It shows all the folders fown the left side of the window. If I want to see a saved bookmark within one of the folders, I have to click on the folder name and then the contents are shown in a separate panel off to the right. Can I get all Bookmark folders to open up vertically, that is, down the left side and under the folder name as they do in Firefox?
Second question:
How do I sync the bookmarks so that all hoes-based bookmarks are downloaded to my iPhone. An articel I read speaks of connecting my iPhone to the laptop. I have no idea of how to do that.

I have loaded my Firefox bookmarks into Internet Explorer Favorited. I also uninstalled Safari.
I go to iTunes on my phone and see no wat to connect my iPhone to my laptop. I see Music, Shows, etc., the kind of stuff I would expect, but no clue as to how to proceed.
Would you please be so kind to fill me in on how to "That syncing is done via iTunes. Connect the device to iTunes, select it, then go to the Summary page and select to sync bookmarks."?
I am not sure what you mean by "Summary Page"
