'Bookmark' your place in iTunes?

I've been working my way through a long list of newly added albums (a many-album Mozart collection) in my iTunes, and it is a bit of a PITA to find my previous day's stopping point.
Is it possible to just "bookmark" a track in a playlist?
For example, I want to start the next day with the first movement of the first work that I have not listened to in its entirely, and I end up scrolling down a long list to find the right spot.  Sorting by # of plays doesn't work because some tracks have been listened to as part of random shuffle on other playlists, and would thus be missed--symphonies would be randomly missing movements--if I was just listening to the next unplayed track.
So what I want is a bookmark.
On iTunes 11.4, would be willing to deal with 12 if it handled this sort of thing better....

When you click on Music store, it will take you right back to where you were when you subscribed.

  • Saving your place in an Audio F

I listen to some audio files on my Zen Micro that are long and sometimes I dont get to finish them. I thought if I paused the player and then came back later I could start from where I finished, but it doesnt work that way. What am I doing wrong or can I not do this at all? It is a MP3 file, should I reencode them to WMA files?

    Hi there,
I listen to audiobook MP3 files frequently and know exactly what you're talking about. The easiest thing to do is to pause the player and then set a bookmark.
If the player is off for longer than 24 hours then it will go into a "deep sleep" mode and will lose your place if you have only paused the player and then turned it off. Setting a bookmark will let you retain your place even after going into deep sleep mode.
There is a newer firmware that was just recently release (6/6/2005 or thereabouts I think?) that changes the time to go into deep sleep from 24 hours to 4 hours. This is to solve some potential battery draining issues, but I won't get into that. Search the forums here if you're interested in that.
The only problem I have found with the bookmarks is that if you have a playlist of 0 files, for example, and you pause and set a bookmark in the middle of the 4th file. What will happen when you start playing your bookmark again is that ONLY the 4th file will be the one in the list of playing MP3's. It WILL play from the correct place in it though. In other words, when the 4th MP3 ends it will just stop playing altogether instead of going on to the next file in your playlist. Or, in even other words :smileyvery-happy: , it doesn't retain the playlist order within the bookmark.
I'd be interested if anyone else out there has other suggestions for listening to audiobooks too!
    Hope this helps!

  • My ipod says "connect to your computer. use itunes to restore."

My ipod says "connect to your computer. use itunes to restore."
So I plug it into the computer and itunes says it needs to restore, so I click restore, everything seems to go fine, and it says the ipod needs to restart, it does, has a lil progress bar go across the ipod screen, then itunes detects the ipod again and says it needs to be restored again. This is an endless loop, anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? Have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if restoring doesn't work, it may be of some help: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore

  • HT1212 I have followed the instructions for "if you have never synced your decice with itunes" and my computer is telling me the device has been restored, however I still don't know how to unlock my phone??

Having followed the instructions for "if you have never synced your device to itunes" and my computer displayed the message that the device has been restored, my phone is still saying its disabled and I should connect to itunes. What do I do now??

Put the iPhone into Recovery Mode and then try the Restore again:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If that still doesn't work, as a last resort try DFU mode:

If that still fails, you'll probably need to go to an Apple Store or call Apple Support for further assistance.

  • When my old PC died I had the tech guy place my iTunes library on an external hard drive. Just set up my new iMac

When my old PC died I had the tech guy place my iTunes library on an external hard drive. I just set up my iMac and I cannot get my library on the external hard drive to import to iTunes. I authorized my computer and had the "purchased" songs downloaded from iTunes directly, but I have 3,000+ songs from other sources that I cannot seem to get to. Help! What's the trick?!

    Don't import anythiong.
Simply copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from the external to /Music/ on the internal.
    Launch iTunes.
That is all you need to do.

  • How do you display your music from iTunes in Ventrilo?

Not sure how many people use or are familiar with the program Ventrilo (online - chat program, used in video games, etc) - there is a way to display the song you are listening to beside your User Name in the chat window on Ventrilo, however I cannot figure out how to do it on Mac.
On PC, you just right click your user name and click on integration in the drop down menu.  Apparently on the Mac version, the "Integration" option is not there.
    Anyone have any solutions/fixes?
    Thank you.

Is it possible to upload songs from your iPhone to iTunes?
I have music on my phone which was previsouly on my itunes but I lost everything on my computer, is there anyway to get my music back onto iTunes? I did not purchase this music from iTunes.

The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases -  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
The iphone is not a storage/backuip device.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a abckup copy of your computer for this very occasion.  Have you failed to do this?
If so, then you may be able to purchase a third party program ( not supported by Apple) to get the songs.

  • HT204053 How do you change your region when iTunes and the App Store keep changing it

I live in china but I'm from Canada and my iTunes is linked to Canada.  Twice so far this year I have had my iTunes, App Store, and iBooks all convert to the Chinese sites. I am trying to put it back to Canada but for some reason it won't change. My region is still Canada so I'm not quite sure what is going on. Can anyone help?

Apps are permanently tied to the Apple ID used to purchase them.  You will always be asked for the password associated with this ID when updating apps, regardless of whether or not you are using this ID for current purchases.  The only way to stop this is to delete the old apps from your phone and iTunes and repurchase them with your current ID.
Edit: to change the ID used for future purchases on your phone, go to Settings>Store>Apple ID, tap the ID shown, sign out, sign back in using the new ID.  As explained above, you will still be prompted with the old ID when updating apps purchase with the older ID.

  • Can you browse photos on your iPod in iTunes?

I've got a 5th Gen 60GB Video iPod, and down in the right-hand corner of the iTunes window it says "6 photos." But that's it. Is there any way that I can browse these photos in iTunes, perhaps if I wanted to manually update the photos?

as far as i know, you cannot check your photos in iTunes, but i do have another solution...
iTunes uses a folder located somewhere in your hard-drive (you designate it)...
if you wish to be able to browse your Photos, try this (it will be using a basic "folder" in your comptuer)
    1: Plug in your iPod
2: when the iPod and iTunes sync, open up the iPod options menu...
3: click ont he tab labeled "Photos"
4: check mark the box that says "Synchronize Photos From:", and then in the drop down menu click "Choose Folder"
5: a window will appear allowing you to choose a folder in your computer for photos (any pictures you have in this folder will automaticly be added to your iPod when you sync with iTunes)
6: if you wish to add/delete any photos from your iPod just add/delete them from the folder
