Bookmarked pages and custom toolbar disappear after firefox crash?

There is no way to restore pages and you have to manually re-drag all the buttons onto the toolbar!
It also seems that if the download window is open, the download time counter messes up your dragging, LOL! Like it updates the time and speed every second, and that resets the position of the item you are dragging, lol! (you wont be able to position the item in just 1 second).
AND - i also cant drag links from address bar to bookmark folders - it just wont "allow" them in... already tried a clean firefox install with folder deletions etc, but its still the same...
Something goes wrong during the import??

In Firefox v4.0.1, custom toolbars disappear from the toolbar menu when I open a "New Window".

I created a new toolbar in Customize... / Add New Toolbar. It's on the list of toolbars and opens up '''most times''' I start Firefox, but not ''always''. I have tested it and it is completely random.

I've been using FF for 7 years now, so I know enough to rule out corrupted localstore.rdf, new or updated add-ons (I could be wrong though, as I often am...).

It's been 3 days since I deleted the localstore.rdf file and so far so good.

Tab page and customization keeps disappearing

For the last two days, my tabs page and customization keep disappearing. When I open a new tab, it is completely blank, with no preloaded sites. When I try to add items such as bookmarks, home, search, adblock, etc to the address bar, they appear as if they have been added but do not appear on the page, nor do they appear after I shut down and restart Firefox. I have refreshed multiple times in the last few days. At that point, I can see the tabs page, see the settings gear, and can populate tabs, pin them etc. I can also get the customization to work. Most recently, the tab page was there, and I could see sites loaded, but the images were missing and never appeared. Sometimes when I shut down the computer, the settings are all saved, but other times they all disappear and the process starts all over again. This includes when I close Firefox with the Exit command under File rather than using the red X option.

Other users have reported problems with FoxTab recently: the reviews for it over the last 9 months are pretty blistering: [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/foxtab/reviews/]. I don't know enough about that extension to help with that.
But regarding the built-in main toolbar, those are changes that Firefox itself should save. Our support article "[[How to fix preferences that won't save]]" covers many of the reasons that there might be glitches with that. Another common issue is utility/privacy/security software like Advanced SystemCare that has a home page protection/browser protection feature. This can roll back your changes between sessions of Firefox. You may need to disable that feature if any of your software has it.

Hiding the Bookmarks menu item is not a default feature in Firefox.
Do you have a Delicious extension installed? 
If so, look for that option in that extensions options. 
If not, look at the extension s that you ''do'' have installed for that preference.

The problem is not the bookmark.
Review your JSP, you may find it does not check the session id.
In this case, everyone can access the page without login.

Remove Contribute Menu and Custome Toolbar from Excel

I've uninstalled Creative Suite 5, and older version 4 of some stand alone products. I've run the Creative Cloud Cleaner. But I still have the Contribute Menu Command and Custom Toolbar in Excel visible under the Add-ins tab. I'm stumped. I can't figure out how to remove them. They're inactive, no longer functional due to Contribute being un-installed. Any one have an idea? Thanks.

You may follow the steps mentioned below to remove a Contribute COM add-in.
Click the File tab in Excel, click Options, and then click the Add-Ins category.
In the Manage box, click COM Add-ins, and then click Go. The COM Add-Ins dialog box appears.
In the Add-Ins available box, clear the check box next to the add-in that you want to remove, and then clickOK.Note This removes the add-in from memory but keeps its name in the list of available add-ins. It does not delete the add-in from your computer.
To remove a COM add-in from the list of available add-ins and to delete the add-in from your computer, click its name in the Add-ins available box, and then click Remove.

hello adzuki45, you already appear to run the latest version of firefox, so this shouldn't be a cause for concern, maybe your desktop shortcut is just misnamed).

How do I get back my bookmarks and history which disappeared after downloading critical Windows Updates?

On 10/16/14 I downloaded 11 critical Windows Updates (I have the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Pro).
All updates ran successfully, but after the updates, Firefox would not run. Instead I got the error “Couldn’t Load XPCOM”. Internet Explorer was working. I reinstalled Firefox . I did not delete it and then reinstall it, I just downloaded Firefox.
That worked and I can now use Firefox, but I have several other problems:
• I lost all my Bookmarks
• I lost some of my History. I can only view history for “Today” and “Yesterday” in the Library. I am missing “Last 7 days” (except for 10/16 and later) and “This Month” history view.
I have been trying to research how to fix this on my own for the past several days, even though I am very non-tech savy.
I tried the following, but none of these things has corrected the bookmarks or history problem:
• I did a System Restore to 10/13/14
• I tried to do a System Restore to 10/12/14. I got the error “Did not complete successfully. Unspecified error 0x8000ffff”.
• I reset Firefox to its default state.
• I tried to change the Privacy setting for Firefox history from “Remember History” to “Use custom setting for history” followed by checking “Remember my browsing and download history”, “Remember search and form history”, and “Accept cookies from site”. I am unable to change this. It always reverts back to “Remember History”.
I located only one Profile Manager, which I found by going through the Windows start menu with "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" –p.
I found "bookmarkbackups" under my Profile Folder. The oldest bookmark folder listed is from 10/16/2014.
Could someone please help me get all my Bookmarks and History back from before the 10/16/2014 updates? Thank you.

Hi askmozilla, yes, the Previous Versions tab in the Properties dialog for the places.sqlite files in the oldest of those folders.
I'm not sure whether Windows can match that file up with earlier restore points once the folder is moved from its original location to the desktop.
I wonder whether there is any way to access the restore point created on 10/16 just before Windows installed the updates. That really would be the best place to look if possible.

After deleteing Custom CSS and Custom Functions, cannot get FireFox to recognize audio player. Works in IE and Safari. Site is https and using bluehost.

Using the Genesis Framework on my WordPress site. I can use Safari and IE. However, when I try to use Fire Fox, it will not appear. I deleted all of my Custom CSS and Functions. Still, nothing is working. Contacted bluehost, the representative there was not able to help me out and also emailed CD Baby to see what might work. I am not sure if it is something with my site using HTTPS instead of HTTP of why this is not working? I am told the plugin works on Fire Fox but I cannot for the life of me figure out what's going on. Also changed themes and used Twenty Thirteen among others. Still the same thing. Fire Fox will not work. Tried in Text widget, and pasting on a page, and still not working. IE and Safari it is fine. Do I need to add something else within my site? Bookmark bar and menu stop working after awhile on Firefox 12

I have upgraded to Firefox 12. Everything works fine when I start up Firefox, but after some amount of use (and I can't always reproduce this) eventually when I click on bookmarks in my Bookmark Bar or from the Bookmark menu, nothing happens. Firefox doesn't load the bookmark. If I open the "Show All Bookmarks" window and click on bookmarks there, they load fine and then the menu and bookmark bar suddenly start working again. If I close the "Show All Bookmarks" window the Bookmark Bar and menu stop working again.

I haven't heard of this particular issue, but you might want to try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. Let is sit for a while as you described above and if you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.

When I open firefox I get my hotmail sign in page and no toolbar so I can't browse the net. How do I get the toolbar back?

Without the toolbar I can't access any settings. I've tried everything I can find in the control panel but no luck.
BT just sent me an updated wireless modem yesterday and I had a lot of trouble making it work. I can only think I deleted some stuff I shouldn't have when I was messing about with it. I can access the internet via Internet Explorer and my hotmail works on firefox but only my mail account.

Firefox 3.6+ versions have a feature to allow the user to hide the Menu bar.
Hit the '''Alt''' key to temporarily show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark. 
The F10 can also be used on most PC's to temporarily reveal the Menu bar.
