Bookmarking in Firefox 3.6 seems to be completely haphazard compared with IE - how do you do it??
With Internet Explorer bookmarking pages is simple and intuitive, even when it is a matter of "organizing" the structure. With Firefox 3.6 I suppose there is a way but it defeats me. Pages seem to get lost and (sometime) reappear without logic. Why can't Firefox just duplicate the IE system instead of trying to be different and complicate things? Is there a guide to the secrets of Firefox bookmarking?

IMO, the last place to "work with" your bookmarks is the Organize Bookmarks / Library window, unless you are using the "Tags" feature. You're better off using the Bookmarks Sidebar as shown in the two support.mozilla.com articles that I hyperlinked.

I am not a Mozilla support person, but from my experience, Sync should be called Mozilla Sync, not Firefox or Seamonkey Sync.....
If you create an account in Firefox, that account is accessible to Seamonkey.
As per the Mozilla instructions, in Firefox you open "Options, sync, add device" and in Seamonkey "setup sync, I already have an account". The text here is a bit confusing because it should read "I already have a Mozilla Sync Account", otherwise you tend to think it implies a Seamonkey Sync account...
Then click "connect" and Seamonkey then supplies three fields of characters which you enter in the appropriate fields in the Firefox "add device" dialog.
I think it is confusing that in Firefox the server is called "Firefox Sync Server" and likewise Seamonkey offers a "Seamonkey Sync Server" suggesting they are two completely separate, non-connected entities.

after doing the recovery, I am getting message that firefox is running and I can't get a browser up. Have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, even in safe mode. All cookies out. have rebooted several times. all to no avail. I can't reset it if I can't get a browser and find no button on your page to reset. Can someone tell what to do?
Note that using System Restore can cause your Firefox installation to get corrupted because not all files are restored (only files in a white-list), so be cautious with using System Restore.
*You may lose data in the Firefox profile folder like .js and .ini files.
*You may need to (re)install software that was affected.
In case you need to reinstall Firefox then you need to delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling to make sure that all files get replaced.

Firefox "Welcome" tab loads every time since Version 10 upgrade. How do you stop it from loading?
Ever since I upgraded to Version 10 the Firefox "Welcome" tab loads when I open Firefox along with my home page.
Check to make sure you didnt set the "Welcome" tab as a homepage.

Select Default as the Homepage, restart Firefox as see if the "Welcome" tab loads still.
Also note, Firefox changes a setting in its preferences file to determine whether you've seen the "Firefox Updated" tab. If you are having problems with that file then Firefox will be unable to save this information and will show you the "Firefox Updated" tab each time you start it.

Ask.com took over as my browser, I don't want it, it inter fears width my email. & I got Firefox download for my browser, It makes everything slower also. I tried several different things recommended on web sights, nothing works.
Some of these toolbars and helpers are simpler to remove than others. Often they install global software that needs to be removed from the Windows control panel, rather than just from Firefox. (Sometimes the names are not obvious).

Once any rogue software is uninstalled the Firefox settings are likely to need sorting out. Luckily there is a restartless add-on available that is often able to handle that part of the problem.

I am using Firefox browser, My email program is Yahoo.com and my Home page is Yahoo. My OS is Windows XP. When composing an email I sometimes want to increase the print size of the text in the email. I do not know the procedure to do this. Is sometimes prints very small.

If you are talking about the font only in your email, then that's a yahoo issue:

If you think EVERYTHING is too small, you can try using [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-use-zoom Zoom]. This will increase/decrease the size of everything on the page. You can try hitting ''CTRL and +'' a few times to try it out. ''CTRL and 0'' will return it to normal size.
If that isn't what you are looking for you, you might want to look into some of the [[Accessibility]] options. There is lots of good information in that article.

Rented an HD movie from my AppleTV1 and as usual there's no sound. How do I fix this?
Can you see a red light glowing in the headphone jack? If so, an out-of-spec plug has jammed the jack in the "mute" position. The specs for the digital jack is tighter than those for analog plugs.
If the red light is apparent, insert a headphone or speaker plug in the jack and GENTLY wiggle the plug in the horizontal plane. That usually frees the stuck contact. It behooves you to make this work, because the "official" cure is a logic board replacement. If you are under warranty, let Apple take care of it.
In the future, put on the headphones or turn on the speakers BEFORE you insert the plug in the MBP's digital audio jack. Insert the plug only far enough to hear sound with proper stereo separation. STOP pushing at that point. It will usually be far enough to avoid the plug falling out on its own, but wil not jam the jack again. On my MBP this position leaves the stop-shoulder on the plug slightly away from touching the computer case. That's OK in this case. -

I found the import/export bookmarks under ,file> withing Safari but that just opens a browser box and I have no idea where to browse to to be able to find the firefox bookmarks.

Snapping still seems to be complete aberrant.
Snapping does not seem to be working properly. I try to snap anchor points to other anchor points (attempting to draw an isometric box) and it seems to be completely haphazard, snapping close, but not "on" other anchor points. I thought maybe it was Align to Pixel Grid, which is a function that seemingly has no purpose, other than to make snapping behave precisely the exact opposite way you want it to. In this case, toggling Align to Pixel Grid off and on makes no difference. I'd like to be able to snap one anchor point to another. How do you do it?

If it is ticked, every new object will be/remain aligned to the Pixel Grid until unticked while selected.
If it is unticked, every new object will be unaligned from the beginning.
So it is an unticking to be made just once.
You should be aware that this option is ticked as default for certain RGB documents (made for web and the like), so you may avoid those or change the default. -

So all the bookmarks I've "bookmarked" for the past year are just gone - I don't understand why Firefox just doesn't automatically save every bookmark you make each session & put them in a place so you can organize them ... maybe there's some extra step you can take every session to force firefox to do this - I don't know what that is - but am also a bit aggravated that there has to be an extra step to do this - Internet Explorer just auto saves everything you bookmark, why can't Firefox - I see this as a big disadvantage to Firefox that needs to be made much simpler ... I have a mac, how do I go back & retrieve everything I've ever bookmarked on Firefox?

I generally like Firefox & use it all the time, but this one area as to bookmarks is very frustrating & causing me to seriously consider not using Firefox at all & switching back to Internet Explorer or another browser like Google Chrome. What's the point of bookmarking something (which by itself indicates you are wanting to save the site link so you can re-find & re-visit it in the future) if Firefox just auto deletes all your bookmarking everytime it starts up? I have no bookmarks in Firefox 4 and can't restore or import any.
After I upgraded (?) to Firefox 4, I opened Bookmarks - Show All Bookmarks and it was empty. None of my bookmarks, no default bookmarks, no bookmarks at all. Weird, but easy to fix, or so I thought. I went to Import and Backup, Restore, and picked a date two days old. I got the expected This will replace all of your current bookmarks with the backup. Are you sure? and clicked OK. It immediately pops up Unable to process the backup file. Next I tried the same with two more dates with the same results.
Okay, let's try to import. Selected Import HTML then From HTML file and selected the one I created before I updated Firefox. I could see the bookmarks in the preview pane at the right, so I know they are there. I click Open and the dialog box goes away, but no bookmarks. No error message, no bookmarks.
I then picked a website, went there and clicked Bookmark This Page. I tried this with a few pages. No bookmarks, none, not one.
I uninstalled Firefox and installed it again, watching carefully for errors, problems, anything. It seemed to go fine, but still no bookmarks. I tried all the above steps and got the same results. I tried Firefox Safe Mode and once again, you guessed it, no bookmarks.
I looked in support and the forums. All I found was people who were unhappy with Firefox 4 and the advice Go to Import and Backup . . . yeah, that doesn't work.
I returned to Firefox 3.6.13 and did a restore from two days ago and it worked fine. I had bookmarked a site since that date, so next I imported from the HTML file I created before this mess all started and that worked fine as well. This proved that the HTML file and the JSON file were not the problem. I'll stay with Firefox 3.6.13 until they fix this problem with Firefox 4.Welcome to the Apple community.
Try for is quitting your mail application, and deleting the mail when you re-open it. You need to keep any attachments to your e-mail under a combined total of 20 MB.
