Bookmarks and Cookies Management got WORSE!

In earlier FF versions, I was able to delete individual cookies easily from the list, why have they changed it so that now we can only delete ALL of them?
The Bookmarking Window was resizeable in earlier versions, now we have this tiny box, not resizeable, gives bad oversight, and sometimes bookmarks into wrong categories (when you "doubleclick" by mistake.
This really sucks, please bring back the old system!!!

The bookmarks window for saving a new bookmark hasn't changed since Firefox 3 came out, like 2 years ago. Try the Add Bookmark Here ² extension - the "Page Bookmarked" window can be dragged to as large as you want it to be with the + (plus symbol) in the lower-left corner of that window:

As far as cookies management goes, the Options panel for Privacy was changed for Firefox 3.5 (a year ago), but the Show Cookies dialog box is the same as it was in Firefox 2 ''(and maybe even Firefox 1., but the oldest version I now have installed is 2.0.0.20 - so I can't say for certain)''.
If you are not happy with the interface for removing specific cookies, look at the various cookie related extensions for one that is easier for you to use.

How do I backup web browser prefs, bookmarks, and cookies?

I've got the hang of backing up files to an external hard drive. Not too complicated.
This weekend I'm installing a new hard drive so I've got to rebuild my desktop from scratch and re-import all my files from my external drive.
I use Firefox and I'm loaded up with bookmarks, preferences, and cookies for all kinds of sites I visit like Amazon.
Can all this be backed up just like files and folders? How do I backup bookmarks, preferences? And can cookies even BE backed up? Or do I have to re-enter passwords and such to all these sites I visit and start from scratch?

Hi, John. I have no experience using SuperDuper to make anything but a bootable clone, so I can't advise you on the ins and outs of using sparseimages. The one thing I would caution you about is that a sparseimage combines everything that's included in it into a single file, and if that file somehow gets corrupted and won't open, the contents may all be lost.
The great advantage of a regular clone over any other backup method, even when you aren't going to clone it back to your internal drive, is that every file in the clone is exactly where it was on the original: you don't have to keep track of where to copy each file back to. Just drag-copy it from wherever it is on the clone to exactly the same place on the reconstructed-from-scratch internal drive. But in the four years I've been using OS X, I haven't tried the kind of manual, piece-by piece restoration of essential data from a backup that you're contemplating, and I don't know what obstacles you may run into. My guess is that incorrect permissions will figure largely in whatever trouble you encounter, but permissions are still a dark mystery to me: I'll be no help to anyone with a permissions problem.

Safari privacy and cookie management is not available

When checking safari preferences to check the settings the privacy settings where blank immediately after upgrading to Lion then checking later the cookies appeared in list form but subsequently disappeared and has not reappeared. Is there something I am missing. PowerBook pro 233 2007. Model

From the Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab.
Click: Show Cookies.
Type Comcast in the search field then click Remove All then click Done.
Restart your iMac, launch Safari. Try mail.
Also, empty the Safari cache more often. From the menu bar, Safari / Empty Cache.

Safari 4.0.5 and cookie management

Ok, this is weird. I have set my preferences under Safari security to "manually" when it comes to deleting cookies. The same is true for the history preference. I usually delete all cookies and history regularly, with the exception of a few essential cookies for select sites requiring passwords. Now every time I quit Safari, all of my cookies are deleted. I have tried to reset the security preferences more than once. Am I missing something, or is there a known issue about this?

In Safari System Preferences - Security, you can Always accept cookies, never, or only from sites you visit but not manually.
Can you clarify please?
Do you have a third party Safari plugin by chance that is deleting cookies automatically?

It got worse

Hi!
At the begining after installing QT7+iT I only did not have
audio. not in streams or *.mov files. But now I reinstalled
the whole thing again for the 5th time and the things got worse. Now after my movie or stream is finnished the whole QT
app freezes, or if I press Pause in the middle of the movie

No problem! Although it sometimes matters which computer you have, Apple fixes everything they sell, Retina Display or not.
Even so, your computer model occasionally makes a difference, so next time navigate through the menu bar:

I installed FF 4 and now the excellent Maxa Cookie Manager software won't work. Can I install and older version of FF over FF4? I could just uninstall 4.0 and re-install 3.* but I don't want to loose all my bookmarks.

Have had similar problems since performing a sofware update last week.
Itunes has crashed.
Can't be reinstalled.
The software update won't work, neither will disk utility.
Removing the .dmg files hasnt helped.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

I can not get my IE 8 favorites over to Firefox (ver.25.0.1) bookmarks even after exporting IE fav. to html file and then in Bookmarks importing thru Manager!!

using XP professional, have hundreds of Favorites in IE 8. I can not get them over into Firefox either directly from the Bookmarks Manager (show all bookmarks/import and backup/Import data from another browser OR by exporting the Favorites in IE 8 to a html file (did) and then coming back over to Firefox Bookmarks and using the Bookmarks/show all bookmarks/import and backup/import bookmarks from html file. I find the file, double click it open BUT nothing happens in the Bookmarks Library???
It is not a case on some come over - nothing happens??

Did you try a search in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) for some know bookmarks?
Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

I don't know what else you could do except report it as others have suggested and pay your customers back. Companies like Adobe don't have the resources to follow up on every individual case of piracy, but they should be interested in tracking down the sources of the big professional counterfeiting rings. Judging from your description of the packages you sold and the cost of producing such packages, I assume they come from such a source.

It cannot be reversed once initiated. However, if you also checked the "Notify me when found" option, if it comes online in order for it to erase, you may get notified of its location first.

I got Troubles too with iphone 4s with the new iOS 8, its unstable, apple said its for that model to but its not totally true, well few troubles disappear if you do this:
First you need to Sync your iphone like regular you do it, but check you could made a Saffety and restore back up manually in your computer.
then when this it's already done, disconnect your iphone, then restore your iphone as factory settings, beware! don't do this if you don't have your Saffety copy first!
when you restore your iphone as factory settings iTunes will ask you if this is a new phone or a previous phone, well, select previous iphone and select the back up copy you made, and let iTunes restore all, that fix a few issues in my phone, but the real problem its iOS 8 its not good for 4s.

Due to recurring problems with Windows 8, I had to "refresh" my laptop. As a result, my computer was reset to its factory settings, and Mozilla Firefox was stripped out. I have lost my bookmarks, browser history, and cookies.
Is this lost information still present somewhere on my computer's hard drive? (I did get a list of removed apps afterwards.) Is there any way to recover and restore my bookmarks, at the very least?
I have yet to reinstall Firefox, because I do not want to overwrite anything that might still be present.

Hold on before installing. Firefox isn't going to look in the C:\Windows.old folder.

Can you find a folder there named something gibberish.default?
