Bookmarks and Page Panel

I am putting a group of documents together with an index. I have set the intial view to Bookmarks Panel and Page, however that only works on the initial page. When I click on the bookmark to open another document, the Bookmarks Panel disappears and I just see the document. How can I fix this so that the Bookmarks Panel is always visible regardless of which document I am viewing. The only thing I've been able to find points to using the Initial View and I've set that. Help!! Thanks

I mean, I get a bookmarks panel but there are no bookmarks (no text) in it. I'm creating a binder of documents. The 1st doc is an index -- the index will link to the documents. I then create bookmarks (which also link to the documents). If I set an initial view for each of those documents, the bookmarks panel does not have any bookmarks. I hope I'm making this clear.

Sorry to hear that you lost what you wanted to keep a track of. Did you have Firefox sync on? With that you can be able to restore your bookmarks but apart from that it's impossible to my knowledge that you'll be able to restore deleted bookmarks.

I recently flashed my player to the 2.whatever code. It now 'forgets' where it was after 4 hours. I realize this was a requested change for conserving power. Actually, I liked the 24 hour setting better. Anyway, I listen to eBooks which sometimes 3 have 45 minute tracks in the playslist, sometimes there will be 200 5 minute tracks. My experience with bookmarks has not been the best. I am currently listening to a book with 98 5 minute tracks. Halfway through track 78 I set a bookmark and shut the player off for the night. In the morning I hopped into the car, resumed play from the bookmark and was amazed that after playing the remainder of the track it quit. I expected it to continue onto track 79. Is it possible to use bookmarks in conjunction with playlists. 3 zen micros, one with the headphone problem all of them about 3 years old Ed

Are you trying to add bookmarks and page numbers to PDF files or other documents?
For PDF files you can use Adobe Acrobat to add bookmarks and page numbers. You can download Acrobat XI Pro Trial version from www.adobe.com or upgrade your subscription to Acrobat Plus.
In Acrobat XI Pro:
For adding page number:
1. Open your PDF file
2. Select "Tools" at right top corner then select "Document Processing" > Number Pages
For adding bookmarks
1. Open your PDF file in Acrobat
2. Select "Bookmarks" pane in left side of the document windows
3. Select "Options" at top left corner of the Bookmarks pane

Is there a way to set the default Initial View to Bookmarks Panel and Page on word documents that I save as PDF?

When I save my word 2013 documents as Adobe PDF I have to open the PDF up, go to File>Properties>Initial View>Navigation Tab and then set the initial view as Bookmark Panel and Page; it gets pretty tedious.
I use Save as Adobe PDF rather than Print to Adobe PDF Printer because I like being able to have the security settings automatically set.
I just want to be able to save my word document as Adobe PDF with the initial view already set as Bookmark Panel and Page, and with security, so I can send it out immediately.
Is this possible?

Bookmarks Panel and Page Display

BACKGROUND:
I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and now when I convert a Word2010 doc to PDF using Acrobat 9 Pro Create PDF. Once the file oepns in Acrobat, I then make the following changes:
File > Properties > Initial View >Navigation Tab (Set to Bookmarks Panel and Page) Page Layer (Set to Single Page Continuous)
Preferences are set to: Open cross-document links in same window; allow layer state to be set by user information; allow documents to hide the men bar, toolbars, and window controls.
PDF/A View Mode is sent to Only for PDF/A documents.
The only thing that I have done different is that I did open was Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES8.2 and tested converting a word document into a form last week. I then attempted to convert files from WORD2010 to Acrobat Pro 9 on Friday and say the problems. I am now also having problems with Adobe LiveCycle.
Attempted Resolution: Our Help Desk uninstalled and then re-installed Acrobat Pro 9 but that has not resolved the issue. They are recommending that they wipe my profile and build it again. I am hoping to avoid that and hope someone can help me with this issue.

Set default Initial View to Bookmarks Panel and Page on all new docs

Hello Acrobat Experts,
We convert *many* Word docs to PDF. We have PDFMaker force security on all docs. Now every document has the security settings we want.
That works.
We want to force the default Initial View to be Bookmarks Panel and Page so that *every* new document shows the Bookmark Panel and the Page.
We don't want to set this per document (which is a multi-setp process and a hassle, especially now that security is enabled) but globally for all new documents created by Adobe Acrobat.
Any and all advice is most welcome.

The article I pointed to in my Oct 20, 2009 post #3 contains two pointers that might assist to initially open the PDF fitting the page to the window.
I think you may be after "Vire [/Fit]" as described in the article;
[ /PageMode /UseOutlines
/Page 1 /View [/Fit ]
/DOCVIEW pdfmark
These lines of code open your PDF document with the bookmarks panel open. If you just want the document on its own try "UseNone" instead of "UseOutlines". Here are some additional values:
/Page 1 opens the PDF on page 1
View [/Fit ] opens the PDF Fit to page
And the article points to the PDFMark reference where you might look at Actions and Destinations on page 47.
I've not tried to do this myself so would you be kind enough to post your result and let us know the version of Acrobat you're using?

I have set my pdf Initital View properties like in the screen shot.
But the Bookmarks panel and page and window controls are not appearing while I open the PDF? any suggestions?
I am using windows XP service pack3 Acrobat 9

Firefox allows me to add some pages as bookmarks and not others. For pages that don't work: when I click the star, it turns blue when I click, then goes back to being empty.

Last night I finally sat down to learn how to use Bookmarks. I had no problem creating and organizing bookmarks, but there are some pages that I cannot bookmark. One, for example, is the Gmail log-in page, which I use multiple times a day. I type in www.gmail.com, which routes me to a longer URL and the log-in page. When I click the star to make this page a bookmark, it won't work. I've also tried using the menu option "Bookmark This Page," which also doesn't work for this website. It's seems to be hit and miss as to when Firefox will allow me to bookmark a page and when it won't. I've had no problem adding many other pages; it just seems that with a handful of them I run into this issue.
I've tried closing Firefox and re-opening, which doesn't help, but that is about the extent of my troubleshooting attempts. This problem has been an issue for me for a couple of years and through several versions of Firefox. (I think I am currently running the most recent version.) It actually led me to believe early on that either Firefox Bookmarks didn't work or I just didn't have the time to figure it out. So since I've been using Firefox I have been repeatedly typing the names of my most frequented sites. I finally took time to sit down with it again last night and have found that Bookmarks will be a huge help. If I could only get ALL of my favorite pages to work...

None of the stuff in " http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locked_or_damaged_places.sqlite " helps. I have tried and tried and I have even wipe the computer clean still didn't help. I got the same problem as he/she has got in the first posted. Can add some web pages but not all the web pages I want.. I should have never updated to 3.6.13... That's when it all started for me, from that version..... Now Version 3.6.14 is out, I was hoping the version 3.6.14 might would fix the problem wrong again....
Funny thing is i can not even Bookmark Firefox.com!!!!!...lol
So any ideas on how to fix it other than the link giving would help.

Is there a way to disable drag-and-drop on the pages panel?

Hi, I'm using Indesign CS3 on Windows XP. My computer is a laptop and the problem I'm having is that when I have the pages panel open, I have sometimes drag-and-dropped pages of a document into a new order without meaning to (the laptop touch pad seems made for these butterfingers-type moves). The documents that I'm laying out are several hundred pages long, so sometimes I don't notice that I've screwed a few pages up until much later. If there is any way to just turn this feature off, that would be great. Due to the arrangement in which I usually work best (on a sofa), I would prefer not to have to attach an actual mouse to the laptop. Thank you for any help.

How can I click on a bookmark and have it open a new page? When I click a bookmark it always opens right in the sidebar, all my bookmarks disappear and I am left with two seperate pages?

I keep my bookmarks open at all times in the sidebar. If I want to go to a site, say Google, I must do a right click on the bookmark and then click on "Open In A New Tab" then the google page opens in a new tab.
I want to skip the second click. I want to be able to simply left click the google booknark in the sidebar and have google open in a new tab.
the way things are now, when I simply do a left click on the google bookmark the new google tab opens in tne sidebar itself. My bookmarks disappear from the sidebar and the google page is opened in the sidebar. So at this point I have two active page open at the same time.
Is there a way to simply left click the bookmark in the sidebar and have the bookmark open as a regular page?

Opening in the Sidebar is the default action for bookmarks that are created via a "Bookmark this Page" link or button on a website. Make sure you use the many "Bookmark this Page" methods that are in Firefox instead.
Right-click that bookmark and select '''Properties''', then un-check the preference for '''Load this bookmark in the sidebar''', and then click Save.

How do I change back to having "bookmark this page" on the top of the list and subordinate "all bookmarks" lower since I use former 100 times more than the later on a daily basis?

I create about 25 -50 new bookmarks daily for my business. So, it would seem user friendly to put that command at the top of the scroll down list. Maybe I am unique and others want to "show all bookmarks" repeatedly. cor-el, as you said, that solution puts the "show all bookmarks" all the way at the bottom. How do you either make "bookmark this page" first without changing the order of the other options or force "show all bookmarks" to be second instead of last, the way the menu was before?

I really want to help you make Mozilla the best of them all, so here goes: When I want to bookmark a page, those wonderfully imported IE favorites I see in the dropdown when I clik Bookmarks...do no appear? Now...at the bottom of the bookmarks dropdown with those IE favorites is one folder called "from internet explorer"...it is the favorites as I imported them...and at first, I did get the folders of my new Bookmarks...which used to be favorites. It is so hard to explain...yet I really liked everything about your Mozilla OpenSource product enough to say, just give me a quick ring...or a way to do it via chat at any certain time or whatever. I no longer get a dialog box when bookmarking a page. I am unable to title and save the bookmark in the folder of my choice. Where has the dialog box gone please.

Whenever I have bookmarked a page, I got a dialog box where I could give the bookmark a title and choose the folder to save it in. Now when I click 'Bookmark this page, no box appears. The page is still saved in bookmarks but then I have to go into Organize bookmarks to put it where I want it. This is time I have not had to spend doing so in the past. I would like to know what has happened to the dialog box, why has it stopped appearing as normal? I really would like it back.

It was Mcafee SiteAdvisor 3.3 of all things that caused the problem. Can anyone suggest a better/equivalent type of extension I could use?
