Bookmarks are not restoring from .json file
I recently had to do some maintenance requiring me to uninstall firefox. Before doing so, I backed up my bookmarks using the method on the site. I created my .json file and then later installed firefox back. When I try to restore from that file, nothing happens. I have the same default firefox bookmarks.
Make sure that the file has a .json file extension. You can verify that via the Properties of the file (right-click context menu).
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Bookmarks missing cant restore from json file
All of my bookmarks have suddenly vanished. [Firefox also started to crash and would show no bookmarks until I later created a new profile.] I tried....
1] restoring from Bookmarks - Show all bookmarks - Import export - Restore.
[I can see a list of earlier backups of my bookmarks , the Json files, but when I try to restore I get Error 'unable to process the backup file] .
2] using Places Maintenance add-on but it didn't resolve the problem [I tried all the options, several times and I left it for a long time to run, but it did not seem to do anything at all really].
3] creating a new Firefox profile using profile manager, and then tried to restore from a .json via restore backup in bookmark manager. I also tried copying and moving file to a different location.
4] uninstalling and re installing Firefox.
I still have a all the auto back ups of my bookmarks the [.json files, but no .html backups]. If the .json files are corrupted, is they a way I can repair them and restore a back up?
I don't know if it happened after an update or not, it might have been an auto update, and I cant really recall doing anything to cause it.
[I am using windows 7 Home premium 64 sp1, and now have Firefox version 33.0.]
Really hope you can help, many thanks.Use these instructions to get a copy of the old bookmarks backup
and place it in the new profile. If you need better instructions, just ask.
'''(Open to the old profile)'''
Type '''about:support'''<enter> in the address bar.
Under the page logo on the left side you will see '''Application Basics.'''
Under this find '''Profile Folder.''' To it’s right press the button
'''Show Folder.''' This will open your file browser to the current
Firefox profile. Now '''Close Firefox.'''
Enter the '''bookmarkbackups''' folder. This is where Firefox makes backups
of your bookmarks. Look for the '''jsonlz4''' file you want to restore
(check the time / date / size). Right click on that file and select '''Copy.'''
'''(Close current Firefox, then open to the new profile)'''
'''(Repeat above steps to open the new Profile Folder)'''
Now go back to the profile folder where you started. Rename the file
'''places.sqlite''' by adding '''.old''' to it. Now right click in the folder
and select '''Paste.''' The file you just pasted here, rename it to
'''places.sqlite.''' After you are done, restart Firefox. -
'''My bookmarks used to appear in dropdown menu from the address bar on my iMac G5. I switched to Mac Notebook & from Leopard to Lion. Now my bookmarks are not accessible from the address bar anymore (the line where you type in the website address)'''
There appears to be a problem with Firefox 20 with UNC paths when using roaming profiles on a server.
*[[/questions/955140]] why is the 20.0 address bar unresponsive?
This is currently investigated and tracked via this bug report.

Bookmarks are not merging from Internet Explorer to Iphone
Bookmarks and notes are not merging from Internet Explorer to Iphone and vice versa?
While connected to iTunes, check your sync settings (I think it is the "Info" tab?) Could be that you've selected the option to sync these things only one time.

How can I restore the photos which I restored in my iCloud Backup ?
Does not restore ! Just remaims idle !
Pls help !I fixed this issue after a lot of time and pain (see below)
Seems to have come up on various threads so it seems to be an issue and should be escalated by Apple. They were none the wiser at the genius bar apart from telling me the iCloud backup is probably corrupted and I should call Apple care (as if that is going to do anything)

I experienced the same problem with the iCloud restore not working properly. I had my iPhone 4 replaced as the home button was defective. When attempting to restore an 9.5GB iCloud backup from the day before it just would not work properly. Firstly, half my apps did not restore, they would begin to download showing the progress indicator then just disappear, leaving my home screen naked. No big deal as apps can be downloaded again.
However, what was a big deal for me was the 1,625 photos on my camera roll, including many of the first year of my kid's life. The camera roll would say downloading x of 1,625 photos, download a few of them, then simply stop downloading any new shots. When I would restart the phone it did not show any downloading message, it believed the restore was complete. I tried about ten different restore scenarios, listed below, all of which gave me varying results (some resulting in all my apps restoring) but all of which would only give me some of my photos back.
What was a comfort was that I once got about 700 of the shots back. So the photos were still in the cloud rather than gone and this indicated that it was the restore process or the iCloud backup on my phone that was the problem. These are the things I tried in sequence as I despairingly tried to get my photos back...
Things I tried that DID NOT work
1) Erase all settings and attempt to restore again from scratch (four times)
2) Tried the restore from a different WiFi network (once)
3) Tried the restore from one WiFi network then switched to another once the restore 'hung' (once)
4) Tried the restore from an Apple store WiFi network (once)
5) Tried the restore from a previous iCloud backup (twice)
6) Had Apple replace the iPhone 4 (once)
With all of these I got a varying amount of my photos and apps back before it stopped restoring. I was also making the mistake (I learnt afterwards) of opening and moving between apps during the download to check progress.
Thing I tried that DID work
1) Did not plug the phone into my MacBook, I used the wall charger only to prevent any iTunes sync activity
2) Erase all settings and data, restore from the iCloud backup and input passwords in all the pop up windows once it reboots.
2) Open photos app gallery to see photos downloading and show the progress message "downloading xx of x,xxx"
3) Left it on this photo screen and did not touch the phone at all for the entire restore. I did not close the photo galley/camera roll app once, open any other apps.
Finally this time round it work and all my photos and apps restored in full. I am going to go back to syncing with iTunes as I don't trust iCloud for restores. It seems that iCloud does not handle photo restores that well, especially if the gallery is large. In short: Wall charger only, restore from iCloud, open Photos app, don't touch. Really hope this works for you too if you've had the same issue. -
Why bookmarks are not transferring when i sync
I followed the instructions for setting up my sync account but my bookmarks are not transferring from my desktop to my laptop.
Try using a third party alternative.

I backed up my bookmarks to an external drive, rebuilt my system, and now when I try to restore from that file, I get "unsupported file type" How can I restore from this file?
Make sure that the backup file with the bookmarks has the correct file extension: .html for a HTML backup and .json for a JSON backup.<br />
You can check that via the right-click context menu of that file and open the Properties.<br />
If you are not sure about the file type then you can open the file in Firefox via "File > Open File"<br />
A JSON backup will show as one long text line without line breaks and a HTML backup as a web page with clickable links.<br />
A JSON backup starts with: {"title":"","id":1,"dateAdded":<br />
An HTML backup starts with: <nowiki><!DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-file-1></nowiki>
You may need to add quotes ("") around the name to rename the file to the correct file extension.

Error ORA-01152: file 1 was not restored from a sufficiently old backup
Its also not thread just to share info with oracle gurus here.If my findings for the below workaround is wrong then please do correct me.
Sometime you get the error after performing restoring controlfile when you don't have autobackup controlfile on
error ORA-01152: file 1 was not restored from a sufficiently old backup
why?
Cause When you shutdown the database with using the normal, transactional or immediate options not abort a full checkpoint occurs.A full checkpoint ensures that all of the dirty blocks contained in the buffer cache are written to the data files, the database comes into synchronized state at this time i.e controlfile CKPT SCN=databasefile CKPT.
Like in this demo i am not taking backup the database in opened mode

Reason is that CKPT SCN in the datafiles will be ahead of the backupset control file no
full checkpoint occuring. You are not taking backup in consistent state and the
backupset will not be in consistent state. When you will restore the control file from
backupset then yours restored control file SCN will be lesser then yours datafile

ORA-01152: file 1 was not restored from a sufficiently old backup
ORA-01110: data file 1: '/data/oracle/oradata/planodb/system01.dbf'
All is good until I try and open the database. What am I missing?? Why doesn't this work???
Because .... If I go through the exact steps but I perform a "recover database" instead of "recover database noredo", I can open the database!!!
Example :
6. restore database; no issues
7. recover database;
Starting recover at 09-SEP-09
using channel ORA_DISK_1
starting media recovery
channel ORA_DISK_1: starting archive log restore to default destination

This is ok because seq 35 doesn't actually exist!
8. alter database open resetlogs;
database opened! You could also explore the UNTIL clause of the RECOVER DATABASE command to specify Recovery until a specific Log, SCN or Timestamp.
Since you are cloning a Hot Backup to another server the Recovery has to be an Incomplete Recovery. So, it will be to a Log, SCN or Timestamp -- either of which you could also explicitly specify with the UNTIL clause.

My camera roll will not restore from iCloud after updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 6. It shows I have 1.7 gigs of photos stored on camera roll but none are appearing on my phone. Everything else restored from iCloud. When I go to iCloud.com my photostream is not there.
A response I put together from another post. Also going into iTunes and choosing to sync phone to iCloud then back "this computer" sometimes works.
First thing.. Stop where you are. Don't try to sync, update, hard reset, iCloud... Just stop.
Check on your phone under 'SETTINGS' 'GENERAL' USAGE'. It should show some value for PHOTOSTREAM. Also, connect to iTunes and you will notice at the bottom of your phones summary page that there is a large amount of 'OTHER' data.
I used third party software called iExplorer (formerly iPhone explorer). In this program you select 'MEDIA FOLDER', then 'DCIM'. In the various apple folders (IE: 101APPLE) you should be able to preview your photos and copy them to your desktop.
From there sync them back to your device through iTunes or whatever method you use.
There is a simpler solution I'm sure, which may involve using iExplorer to delete some .plist files then restart the phone and let it rebuild. I'm going to try it myself AFTER I've finished copying all the photos to my MAC
Hope this helps. -
Error: JAR-Ressources in JNLP-File are not signed from the same Certificate
I have two handfull jars, all signed in batch with the same
Certificate. When i start my App with Webstart it tells me:
Your JAR-Ressources in JNLP-File are not signed from the same Certificate.
"JAR-Ressourcen in JNLP-Datei sind nicht von demselben Zertifikat signiert"
Well im shure that i signed all my jars with the same Certificate.
What can i do to solve this problem ???I get the same error.
Strangely exactly every second time it works and every second time I execute the JNLP I get the following error:
network: Cache-Eintrag nicht gefunden [url: http://localhost:8080/fibo/lib/js_15R41.jar, Version: null]
network: Verbindung von socket://127.0.0.1:3621 mit Proxy=DIRECT wird hergestellt
#### Java Web Start Error:
#### JAR-Ressourcen in JNLP-Datei sind nicht von demselben Zertifikat signiertCan this have something to do with browser caching? So that every 2nd time it tries to access the cache, fails. And than ignores the cache and works?
Any ideas?
Cheers,

Help please. Iphone was Backed up yesterday. But today's backup didn't finish. Now, I have a file (marked today) but it will not allow a restore from said file. And yesterday's is gone. What the hello do I do? IS there anyway to get my sms back post restore/update?
The problem is absolutely not Reader. The problem is that FireFox has stepped in front of Reader and handles all the PDF stuff - wrongly in your case. FireFox is DESIGNED to take over PDF files. But it is not capable of doing IRS forms!
To start with go back to IE for these forms. When you save them to disk DO NOT DOUBLE CLICK ON THEM until this is fixed. Just open the in the normal way - start Adobe Reader and use Open from the File menu. -
I have a new computer and my old drive has my UNSAVED bookmarks on it and I want to import them, how do I do it when the bookmarks are not SAVED?
You can backup the bookmarks on the old computer and create a JSON or HTML backup and restore or import this file in the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks).
You can use an USB stick to transfer the saved bookmarks file to the new computer.<br />
You can also copy the places.sqlite file from that computer to have the bookmarks and the history.

Firefox 29 crashes restoring from json
Restoring from json causes firefox 29 to hang , try with FF 27 ,also, same problem.
Have used selecting json from list and by "choose file" option. Have tried many different json files. Same problem. Regrettably , I do not have any HTML versions of these bookmarks.
Acording to FF help, I should be able to close the Library window after selecting the restoring bookmark file, but I just get the busy cursor , and clicking on the X (top right of window) results in crash.
Have tried erasing current bookmarks and did a restore , same problem.
Is there any standalone json-to-HTML converter available??Well, this is embarrassing. I guess I do have that many bookmarks since I left the "restore" running and returned to it after several hours , it went through. I am not saying it took that long but probably more than a few min.s .
I guess it is time to do some house cleaning after all these years. I have the list since the Mosaic days , so I guess it gets piled up. Some of the sites are probably defunct.
"Your live bookmarks are in the places.sqlite database,...."
I suspected as much since it is also a large file.
Actually, I manually make copies of the profile folder , not just the bookmarks. Actually the whole user directory so settings of other programmes are saved also.
I will try another restore from another json file after work and make sure it really works , so don't close this thread just yet!
