Bookmarks, folders... they're all gone.

So, I wake up this morning, turn on my computer, pop up Safari, and "POOF" - no bookmarks, no folders, nothing. Everything's gone with absolutely no trace. The worst part is, is that I can’t even begin to rebuild my bookmark list because Safari won’t let me add new folders for some reason or let me add new bookmarks.
I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times, but a part of Safari keeps hanging around somewhere and refuse to be exorcised from my computer. Until I can’t get it all off, I can’t even begin to rebuild from whatever hiccup caused Safari to go crazy on me.
Anybody have any suggestions on how to go about removing Safari completely so I start over?

I have had the same problem since the 6-18-2008 Safari 3.1.2 update. I cannot import or add bookmarks. I do not even have the default bookmarks that were on the bar.
If you get an answer I would like to know what to do.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Safari several times trying to fix it. No luck.

Set my bookmarks to be saved on the cloud. They appeared on all of my PC's until one of them underwent updates. Now ALL bookmarks from my Favorites bar are gone from ALL computers. What gives? Even tried to system restore back before the updates - no dice.

My photos will not sync to my Apple TV (1st generation), ipad, iphone, or itouch. They used to be there but upon recent syncs with all devices they have all gone. I am totally baffled as I have not changed settings?

I had the same thing happen to me. It's a bug in iPhoto 9.4.2.
The first time you run iPhoto after upgrading to iPhoto 9.4.2, it "updates the iPhoto library". This sometimes tickles a bug where iTunes can see all your iPhoto albums, but iTunes thinks they are empty. Since iTunes thinks all your albums are empty, it dutifully deletes any photos from your synced iOS devices.
It's easy to tell if this is the problem you are seeing. Open iTunes and go to the photos sync panel for one of your iOS devices. If you have multiple albums checked, but iTunes shows a total of 0 photos, then you have the problem.
I spent an hour with an Apple Genius. he couldn't find any mention of this problem in their internal support system. His recomendation was to reinstall the operating the system. I suspect that this won't solve it.
The only solution I have found is to restore iPhoto 9.4.1 and the corresponding iPhoto library from your backups.
I would refrain from upgrading to iPhoto 9.4.2 until Apple has a fix for this issue.

I used to have task or shortcuts show up when I would right click on the FF Icon on the task bar. After installing 4.0 they are all gone. How do I get these back? or restore them to what they were?

Win 7 task bar has a Fire Fox Icon. Before installing FF 4.0 I could right click on the Icon and it would show short cuts to various sights, which when clicked on would open that sight in FF.

Photobooth and iPhoto are two quite different apps with no connection between them. I'd try the Using Mac OS X forum for whatever version of the OS you have.

It is possible that you forgot to add a file extension (.json) while saving and in that case you may be looking for the wrong file.
Also make sure that you search for hidden files and folder in case the file was saved in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder]
Firefox won't import the file without a .json file extension ("Can't process ..."), but you can create a backup with any name.

that happens for people who used icloud for everything but contacts. When they updated and went through initial
set up, signing into cloud enabled everything including cloud for contacts. Since they had zero contacts in cloud, cloud cleaned out their contacts, but synced everything else that icloud has, like calendars, reminders etc. If those contacts were never backed up anywhere - they gone. If there is back up in cloud, it needs to be restored.
Contacts sync in the cloud need to be turned off, right after restore.

Log into icloud.com and then click on the Contacts icon. If the list is empty, then it's gone.

Did you save them did your Photoshop preferences get reset without knowing what been happening on you machine there is no way can know we could only venture a guess.

You can restore the contacts from the app that you chose to sync them with on your computer, or from iCloud if you set up iCloud syncing, or from the iCloud backup if you have set up the phone to back up to iCloud, or from the backup on your computer if you chose to back up the phone to your computer, or from the MS Exchange Server if you have an Exchange account set up. If you did none of these they are gone. And probably not because of the text; they were gone before the text.

Firefox 4 has completely messed up my computer,lost all my bookmarks, and cannot replace them, Tried reinstalling 3-6-13, but they have all gone. It has ruined my browser.

Installed 4, but it will not work or display opening page. Reinstalled 3-6-13,but the bookmarks toolbar has gone, replaced by sidebar, but it will not accept new bookmarks and will not sync with my other computers bookmarks. There are two folders: in the original account main /Users folder there is an icon of a house and a shared folder.
In the new admin account, there is the same thing.
I do not have a backup, but I can eaisly backup all of my important data by just dragging the user folder onto an external harddrive.
Yes, I did log out of the old account & into a new admin one.
Other facts: I cannot create folders in the original (old) account. For both accounts, I cannot access any programs, except for safari and ones that I come with the computer. For example, I cannot open Chrome or Word. Safari sometimes pops open a window that says I have the wrong keychain. This does not happen all the time, so I do not know exactly what the message said, something about keychains.
Also, when I click on the house in the User folder, I find that my old user folder is inside of it (that's where I can access all of my old documents). The old user folder has the old username that I tried changing (which started this whole mess)

You shoud be importing them to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.
