Bookmarks in Portal

Hi Experts,
We made some changes to a query used in a webtemplate which is used in Potal. The change was we removed some characteristics and replaces them with thier nav attrs. Now when a user picks the book mark, the bookmarks dont work anymore.
Is there a solution to fix this? i hope there is one/
DV

HI,
First check in the webtemplate that changes are reflecting or not by executing....it has to reflect (I views, portal pages and book marks).....so check that the webtemplate is same or not....
Thanks

  • Call Save Dialog [Save As] is not allowing me to Bookmark in Portal

    Hi All,
I am facing some problems trying to implement BEx bookmarking into my Portal. To explain a little further about our setup, we have a master web template which is connected to approximately 80+ queries. Within that web template, we have a button which has the CALL SAVE Dialog Save_As which should, in theory, allow users to bookmark their queries via the Portal.
Unfortunately, this is not working and when a user attempts to bookmark a query and save it via the Portal, the following blank screen is displayed with this URL: http://PORT NUMBER/irj/portalapps/com.sap.portal.navigation.helperservice/html/child.html.
If anyone could offer any insight into this issue I'd be truly grateful - THANKS!

    Hi,
There might be a technical Rollup
When you restart the Application Host Helper Service on Windows Server 2008, it might help.
Or, if not, why don't you try to take an backup of the existing queries & perform a backup. I'm sure the error can be resolved.

  • How to add BookMarks in Portal release 2

    Hi,
I want to know whether it is possible to add bookmarks in oracle Portal if yes how.
    thanks,
    Pravin

Do you mean that you used to be able to add bookmarks when viewing PDF
files? If so, this means that you didn't have the free Adobe Reader
before, but instead you had the purchased software Acrobat (Acrobat
    Standard or Acrobat Professional).

  • BI Bookmarks in Portal Favorites

    Hi
I am facing an issue with opening navigated and saved reports via Portal Favorites.
In the integrated BI report in the portal, I enter the variables in the variable entry screen and run the report. After the report loads, I click on 'Save As...' button and give a description and save it in Favorites tab.
When I need to access this report again directly without entering the variable values again, i click on the corresponding link in Portal Favorites. Although I would expect it to show me the report directly, it shows me the variable entry screen again.
But the bookmarks opens fine from within the Bex Report using 'Open' button next to the 'Save As...' button.
What am I doing wrong? Is there something that needs to be setup in the KM folder for this purpose?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Opening bookmark in portal desktop.

    Hello All,
When I open a portal bookmark which is in the favourites in Internet Explorer, it opens without the surrounding desktop. e.g. just the iView will open.  Is there a way I can get the bookmark to open within the portal desktop?
    Thanks,
    Nick.

    Hello Nick,
You can create a link with a combination with the short URLs and the bookmark ID
    http://<portal>:<port>/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=navurl://<short URL ID>&BOOKMARK=<Bookmark ID>
    Short URL ID:
You can find it here: Systemadministration --> Navigation --> Short URLS
    Bookmark inside a Webtemplate:
Activate the Bookmark option in the context menu in the WAD
First try to find the correct short urls ID and if this work, find the correct bookmark ID and after all put both parameter in the new URL together. I need use the link for broadcasting and it works fine.
    kind Regards

  • Oracle Apps - Service link vs. Bookmark in Portal-to-Go

I have a link created by 'ServiceDesigner' that will connect to the back-end Oracle Applications without having to enter a username/password (our preference). The URL I entered into 'Service Designer' is 'http://my_apps_server:8003/OA_HTML/jtfwvald.jsp?username=user01&password=oracle'. When I create a BookMark in Papz using the same URL the returned page does not contain the menu Links - just the menu text. Which leads me to believe the connection is being made to the Apps.
Maintaining a 'ServiceDesigner' link for hundreds of users will be an issue for us. We would like to empower the user to manage their username/password via Papz thus reducing the maintenance by the HelpDesk.
Any help on this will be appreciated.

This functionality is available with Oracle9iAS Wireless. However, you should go to the eBusiness Suite forum for questions that pertain to their apps.

  • Query variable values in bookmarks (portal favourites)

    Hi,
Basic problem: When 2 different users save their modified query views they behave differently. In other case the favourite opens straight to the report without displaying the variable screen and in the other case the variable screen is shown with preselected values.
We'd like to standardize the function throughout the organization in such a way that every saved query view would behave so that the selection variable values would be automatically populated and the report would open without displaying the variable screen.
We ran the same report in debugging mode and found several differencies:
BI_TARGET_IVIEW (missing from the report which doesn't show variable screen)
    BusinessParameters
    - With Var Screen: Contains more information, f.ex. BW-client, and the technical name of the query
    - Without Var Screen: Just the bookmark technical ID
    ContentLink
    - With Var screen: QUERY=SALES_MP_Q0009&VARIABLE_SCREEN=X
    - Without Var screen: empty field

    Hi,
    A. If a person is doing the following activity
    1. Using the Export and Distribute-Bookmark function in the context menu of a Web application
    or
    2. In the BEx Web Analyzer when saving the ad hoc analysis
    or
    3. When you personalize Web applications
It will create a bookmark with bookmark ID.  (To View theses report  (SA38)
    RSWR_BOOKMARK_REORG - SAP NetWeaver 7.0 format)
    B. But if user is creating bookmark from portal framework.. like add to portal favorite or add to browser favorite in toolbar of portal, it only store the navigation struture of portal role.
    A.1 Regarding showing Variable screen.
IN BEx Template, if we set  Show Variable Screen  as OFF, It will not show variable screen provided the mandatory filelds are there. For case A, Since Bookmark ID providing all the variables information it will not show Variable screen.

  • Bookmarking Portal pages

    Hi,
How can we bookmark portal papges?? I have a requirement where we have to provide a URL and when clicked that should open a Portal page.
    How to do this?
    Thanks

    Hi Santosh,
If you need to tell the users how to bookmark a Portal page, here is what they need to do:
Click on the Options menu button on the top right of the page and click on Add to Browser Favorites
    Read more about it here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/84/a30a48887d4cb690b4f1754f651ba1/frameset.htm
If you want to create a hyperlink to a page you have two options:
    1-Use NavigationTarget:
    Example:
    http://myportal.wdf.sap.com:8100/irj/index.htm?
    <b>NavigationTarget</b>=ROLES%3A//portal_content/MyRole/MyRole/MyTest/MyIView
    2-Use EPCM.doNavigate():
    Example:
    <A HREF="myLink" onclick="return <b>EPCM.doNavigate</b>('target')">
    This is HTML Link</A>
where target is the PCD path of the Portal object as in:
    <A HREF="myLink" onclick="return EPCM.doNavigate    ('ROLES://portal_content/folder1/role1/workset1/iView111')">This is an HTML Link</A>
    Read more about it here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/18/3fb84033a8b533e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
<b>Note:</b> The user will need to be logged into the Portal for these to work.

  • How can i find the requested portal page in custom login.jsp

We are using a customized login, logout and change password page built in JSP.
The wwsso_ls_configuration_info$ has been updated to point to the customized
JSP pages. Everything works fine so far but we would like to show different
content inside the customized login page depending on which portal page that
    was requested.
eg suppose the user requested a page that belong to page group X we want to
show login page with html content relevant to page group X. If page group Y is
requested, then it show relevant information for Y.
The ssousername, password field and other parameter needed for login page will
be left to the standard names defined by oracle login requirements.
For this purpose, we need to find which portal page was requested by user in
the customized login.jsp( as users tend to bookmark the portal page eg.
    http://domain/portal/page?_pageid=33,30983,33_30985&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL)
Once i know the requested portal page, i can parse the _pageid to get the page group.

Were you ever able to get this issue resolved? I would be interested in the solution if one was ever found. Thanks.

  • Is there a way to apply changes in default WAD template to KM Bookmarks?

    Hi gurus.
WE ran into the following issue. We have bunch of portal favorites and km bookmarks saved by the users from our BEx Web Analyzer reports. Our Bex Web utilizes a default template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN (renamed to ZZ..).
We have made some customizations to the default template. New queries show the changes, however km bookmarks and favorites saved with an old version of a template still show the old look of the WAD template.
Is there a way to somehow update km bookmarks and portal favorites to reflect the changes in the default template?
    Thanks

This is common issue to customized 0analysis_pattern templates in BI...
    Use program - RSWR_BOOKMARK_ADJUST
    Select your customized web template..
Web item to be removed - Specify the web item that you changed..
New web items should automatically appear...
Try this program on few affected bookmarks first and then run it wide across without bookmark selection. At one of my clients I adjust 200k such bookmarks.
Use with caution....test properly before you do...You dont want large number of bookmarks becoming useless...

  • Bookmark with Variable screen and UserExit

    Hi
We're using the bookmarks in portal of N2004s.
If someone starts a bookmark it's possible to bring the user first to the variable screen. But I recognized that the userexit is not activated for some variables after changing them.
    concret:
I called a report with time-selection week = 10.2007 - the report has keyfigures which are restricted by a userexit variable which is previous year (calculated by time selection - 1year) - so the report shows me the keyfigures with previous year 10.2006 and 10.2007 - I save this as a bookmark.
calling the bookmark with this link: &bookmark=46LQ49TMUQ8BRH3O91VEH0XMK&variable_screen=X
the bookmark shows me first the variable screen. The user can change then the time-selection. But when i change now the time-selection in the variable screen from 10.2007 to 20.2007 I get in the report stll 10.2006 and 20.2007.
So it seems to me the bookmark doesn't run through the user exit to fill the variable "previous year".
    How can this be activated?
    Thank you for your reply.
    Roger

    Hi
I debugged now the user exit and it seems as following:
    - calling a bookmark with selection_screen=x but without the parameter clear_variables=x does run through the user exits step 1 to 3 before showing the variable screen. After changing a variable the user exit is only enabled for step 3 and not anymore for step 2 - that's why the previous year is not updated.
    - calling the bookmark with selection_screen=x and clear_variables=x runs user exit with step 1 before selection screen and then after entering variables step 2 and 3 - and the previous year is filled correctly. But this is not useable, because the user want's to have selection variables prefilled.
Has someone an idea how to bring the bookmark without clear_variables=x to the point to run the step 2 in user exit after changing variables in selection screen?
    Thx
    Roger

  • KM Bookmarks

    Hello all,
we are using BI together with Portal. The user can save reports as KM Bookmarks into Portal favorites. When changing a whole workset which holds structure of iviews (BI webtemplates) is it possible that the KM Bookmarks are lost? And if it is so how is it possible to change the URL or Bookmark that it points to the new URL (workset)?
    Regards
    Andreas

    Hi Praveen,
first thanks for your fast answer.
I know this link and how to change/organize the Portal favorites.
What's about changing or creating a new workset. When I do a copy of an existing one and delete the old one can I use the same Id without loosing all bookmarks? The Url does not change...
If I check the path in content directory it seems to be ok. The portal knows the new object under the old id... But when I execute a saved favorite (BI KM bookmark) the system is showing "site not found or available"...
When checking the hyperlink to content it is showing the rigt one. But bookmark seems to be lost...
    Regards
    Andreas

  • 118263-12 (PC12 for portal 6.3) important information

    Hi all
Just a bit of an FYI. We just rolled the public release patch 118263-12 into production over the weekend.
An unexpected new bug cropped up. Basically if you have the Authentication-less desktop disabled, and your user's have http://[portalserver]/portal/dt bookmarked, the /portal/dt link will no longer kick you back to the authentication page to login, but just return a HTML 200 code, and stop (user sees a blank screen). This will impact unsuspecting users that have previously just bookmarked the main logged in portal desktop.
This issue is addressed in 118263-13, (desktop.jar is the culprit) but just wanted to give you all a heads up.

  • XML files dont copy to standby unit

    Hi,
I have failover active/standby topology with two ASA (version 8.0.4), and Clientless SSL VPN configured.
I have created differents profiles, bookmarks and portal in this solution.
But when I try to see this files in the standby unit, I can't to see it. Why? I try it whit "write standby" but nothing... Any idea?
    Best regards

The write standby command replicates the configuation to the running configuration of the peer unit; it does not save the configuration to the startup configuration. To save the configuration changes to the startup configuration, use the copy running-config startup-config command on the same unit on which you entered the write standby command. The command will be replicated to the peer unit and the configuration saved to the startup configuration.

  • Can a BC4J-JSP App live within a Portlet

I've read the posts AND the docs AND still do not have a clear idea if a BC4J-JSP application can live within Portal. I DO NOT WANT to click on a link from Portal and open a * NEW * window, I want the BC4J App to be contained within the Portal.
Can anyone from Oracle Portal answer this **** AND *** can you show a working example of a BC4J application. HelloWorld.jsp is not a multi-page application.
    Thanks,
    Bill G...

    Hi Bill,
    1. Yes, you can access the userid from your partner app.
    2. Do you want to make your code appear on a portal page, and re-render it within the portlet container, rather than have your application replace the portal page? If this is what your question is, then:
    a) You may run your app in an iframe as Subramanyam has recommended. The first issue with this: ns 4.x doesn't support it. The second one, the request is sent to your app from the browser iframe, it doesn't go through the parallel page engine, thus your application is not being cached along with the page. Also, end users can't access a particular page of your application, they can only bookmark the portal page, which will always display the initial page of your application.
    b) You can run your app as it is, taking advantage of the renderers of PDK, capable to render JSPs. In this case, you need to modify your code, at least the links and forms, so that the portal page URL is used as the target url (extra parameters appended to it, or implemented in hidden fields).
You find a sample portlet (Flights of Fancy External Application) implemented as a partner application in the PDK.
This is a PDK article worth to check out: Using PDK-Java to Integrate a Partner Application with Oracle9iAS Portal (V2)
And finally, you find the Administration Guide, the Appliation Developre's Guide, and the API Reference in the Oracle9iAS Documentation Library under Oracle9iAS Single Sign-On on the Management and Security tab.
