Bookmarks on Android.

locking this thread as duplicate, please continue at /questions/1038645
Although I have sync enabled, my bookmarks are not showing on my phone. Can someone say why, please?

There are a few places to check on the device's settings menu:
# You can get there from the Settings of the Android device under Accounts.
# Click on the Firefox account and tap on Sync. If it is not listed, it can be reattached from the Sync menu of Firefox
# If there is an error on that says "Auto-Sync" needs to be turned on, you can do this from the Data settings of the Android device. (Same menu where accounts were listed)
# Once you do this, wait a few minutes and restart Firefox.
Did this help sync? Please post back.

• If I open new sync accounts so that I can synce bookmarks from android phone to new desktop, will I lose my bookmarks in android and thus lose them all forever?

My old desktop crashed. My new desktop has the most recent version of Firefox and the new sync feature. Unfortunately, none of my bookmarks from the old desktop/Firefox transferred to the new desktop. My android phone (GS3) and android tablet both still have all of my bookmarks, but I cannot get them to sync to the desktop. I have read (and reread) the instructions for opening new sync accounts for all devices, etc. so that they are all compatible and sync will work again. I am afraid that if I do that, I will lose all my bookmarks from my android devices, and then they will be lost forever, which defeats the whole purpose of setting up new sync accounts. Can you confirm that if I open new accounts on all devices that I will not lose my bookmarks from my phone and tablet, which now have the only record that I can access to recreate them all manually (god help me)on my desktop if that is my only alternative?

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, that doesn't solve my problem. I have given up and just re-entered my bookmarks manually to my desktop computer.

You should try Firefox Accounts! Check out https://accounts.firefox.com on your desktop, set it up and then sign in on your Android device, and voila!

But you can pin your bookmark in homepage
Unfortunately you cannot remove the top sites homepage but you can pin a site, remove a site by unpinning it and edit a pinned site's url.
Please read this article for instructions.
Hope this helps!

• How do i organize my bookmarks on android

i have a samsung galaxy tablet. how do i organize my bookmarks?

If you go to the "Bookmarks" section of the "Awesome Screen" then you can press and hold on a bookmark to edit or remove it.
There's currently no way to sort or move bookmarks in Firefox for mobile. If you have Firefox Sync set up, then you can use the bookmark manager on your computer to organize bookmarks inside your "Mobile Bookmarks" folder, and those changes will by synced to your Android device.

I Bought a new computer and a new tablet. My bookmarks somehow got imported unto the tablet but I want them on the desktop. How can I export themto the desktop?

There is not a way to export to a file. You would need to use Firefox Sync https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-up-firefox-sync

• How do I get bookmarks from Android with old encrypt code while I made a new one on PC?

Title says all

Hi!
There are 2 add-ons that can help you to visualize the Sync key in your phone, choose one of them: http://limpet.net/key/ and https://addons.mozilla.org/mobile/addon/aboutsynckey/
But, because you already reset the Sync key in your account what you should do is to Sync the phone to the account with the new key. Firefox Sync works in the principle of adding, so if your phone has more Bookmarks, History, etc than your computer, this ones will be pushed to the computer without loosing any data.
In order to finish the process you will need to log out first from your phone's Firefox's preferences and then pair the device again following the instructions explained here: How do I add a device to Firefox Sync?
Let me know if this helps.

• Lost bookmarks on pc, need to sync them from android to pc, reset recovery key, no bookmarks.

Ok, so here goes. I had to do a fresh install of windows 7 and was not able to back anything up before doing so because of a Trojan. After reinstalling Firefox on the new OS I attempted to get my bookmarks back from my sync account that's connected to my android phone. It let me on the sync account after resetting the recovery key (there is no way to view it on Firefox for android) I click sync now and now none of my bookmarks or history is syncing from the server to my PC. Is sync a one way street? From pc to phone but not the other way around? I really need these bookmarks... I do have root access to the phone and looked in data>data>org.mozilla.firefox>databases but I do not know how I would go about importing the database data to my PC. Is it possible to either 1. sync my bookmarks from android to pc or 2. Copy and import the database file manually? Thank you.

If you've reset the sync key then that action has removed all data stored on the Sync server, so you can't even recover it with the (correct) previous sync key.<br />
The sync key is only used locally to encrypt your data before it is uploaded to the sync server, so it is vital to have a backup of the sync key.

• This morning when I started my Android tablet all of my bookmarks have vanished, how do I get them back? Why did they disappear?

Firefox crashed yesterday but restarted alright with bookmarks in place. This morning after a reboot they are completely missing and the Firefox interface is different as well. I used ES File Manager to navigate to the profile folder but do not know how to recover bookmarks in Android. I would also like to understand why this happened to avoid a repeat of the problem.

Does the tablet need to have an open file system to navigate to this file path? Usually. However the file path was found in this previous question(it may vary with Android version):
Previous Question: Where is the user profile folder located on Mobile Firefox?
I looked for add-ons and Profile Switcher is not supported on 26 for Android, so the manual restoration without a file manager may be difficult.

• How do I get sync to bring my bookmarks to a android.

Sync is storing between my laptops but on the android it syncs all my folders but they are all empty. I get no actual bookmarks.

I have a Samsung 5S, a laptop with Windows 7 and a touch screen laptop with with windows 8
Laptops are running Firefox 35.
I have tried tried both 35 & 36 on the android.
After I set up the Android it says it will Sync in a few seconds. That screen never changes. When I look at bookmarks on Android I have no actual bookmarks. It has all my bookmark folders but they are all empty. No bookmarks from the main bookmark menu either where the bookmarks are not in folders.
I expect to be able to sync my bookmarks so I can use the laptop bookmarks on my phone.

• Exporting desktop (!!) bookmarks from Firefox for Android

Firefiox Sync messed up my desktop bookmarks, so a part of it lost completely now.
But as my Nexus not always online it still contain almost latest snapshot of desktop bookmarks.
I already disconnect it from Sync, so it's bookmarks won't be damaged.
Is there any way to export DESKTOP bookmarks from my android device?
Does Sync PUSH desktop bookmarks FROM android to sync-server or it just PULL them from it?

Hi zoorg,
Exporting bookmarks from Android (importing on Desktop is already in place) is a long-standing need that has not yet been filled, and I'm sorry for that. To answer your final question, each Synced device works by first pulling bookmarks from the server, merging those into its own bookmarks, and then pushing back any changes to the server. So it's pull then push.
The simplest thing is to create a new Firefox Profile (see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles) and connect that new profile to your Firefox Account. That'll download all the bookmarks on the server. You might find that these bookmarks are correct. If that's the case, you could abandon your old profile and continue using this new one.
If the bookmarks are *not* correct, I suggest you delete your account at https://accounts.firefox.com/settings and re-create it. (You can use the same email address since you delete the old one.) Then you can re-connect your Android device, which should upload all the bookmarks it has. Then attach your Desktop (with a new, clean profile), which should download the new bookmarks.
Hope that helps, and sorry for the difficult process :(

• From profile backup: Restoring bookmarks, most visited pages and reading list

Using the firefox mobile extension "Copy Profile" I have saved a copy of my profile to the sd card. Now I would like to restore selectively:
- bookmarks
- history
- reading mode saved pages
- most visited pages
While restoring the relevant files (using root access on android) helped, I am suffering from these probems:
- The order of the bookmarks is mixed up: I had ordered them with the desktop app. Where is this order stored?
- The "most visited pages" appears to be a random selection from the history.
Any ideas?

Solution was to copy the files mentioned here:
Recovering important data from an old profile
And here:
Extracting bookmarks from Android mozilla profile backup
Important:
The file ownership of all files copied back into the profile directory have to be adjusted. On my machine they defaulted to "root" owner which prevented firefox from accessing them.
