Bookmarks page pops up for no apparent reason until minimized??

After using the "Favorites" page (Bookmarked locations), the favorites will show up again
until I either close it or minimize it. Can be annoying when inputting information online or
shopping.
This question is being posted on a IE computer.

The Unsorted Bookmarks folder doesn't show in the Bookmarks Menu, but instead opens the Bookmarks Manager in a separate window and this window stays open until closed.<br />
You can do some management every now and then and move the bookmarks in the Unsorted Bookmarks folder to a folder in the Bookmarks Menu folder.

For about 2 weeks now the itunes login window asking for my itunes password keeps popping up for no apparent reason at annoyingly frequent intervals on my touch 3.1.2. This seems to occur regardless of what i am doing on the ipod or which app I am using at the time. If i enter my password and press ok the message still pops up again later. Anybody have a solution?

Please go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features to repair the Installation of Office, check if the issue persists.
If the issue still exists, I suggest you perform a clean boot to determine whether background programs are interfering with Communicator:

HT5622 Why does a Verification message keep popping up for no apparent reason?

So I've been trying to sign in to buy a new song for my ipod when I got a verification message to verify my account on iTunes. I've done this before so I know what to do. I noticed in the small message box that it says this is the first time I've ever bougth something on this device. I thought it was odd because I've bought a few things before and I've never had this specific message come up. I have no idea why it is. When I click on the verify account it takes me to the verification question page bla bla... I put in my answers and.... They're wrong? I know the answers I haven't forgotten them but it says I have them wrong! (Now this is getting a little of topic so I'll just back up) Why is this message appearing? How can I fix this question issue? My account has been locked because of this! I've tried to look at support but I haven't sent any emails because I want to figure out why this is coming up first.

When I am browsing the page will freeze for no apparent reason. I lose all ability to go to a new page either by entering an address or by clicking a link on the page. This does not appear to happen on any particular web page.

Acrobat XI breaks down printing for no apparent reason until restart.

Hi Everyone,
I have a very weird situation in the office. One of our employees would have her computer stop printing from office and acrobat for no reason and then freeze both office and Acrobat until restart. Restart fixes the situation for a few hours but then it would happen again.
We are a document service business, so pdf (read, create, edit), Office Suite and printing are the bread of what we do and having downtime for 10-15 minutes twice a day is not really ideal.
The reason that led me to believe Acrobat is the culprit is because I have been combing through the Event Viewer Logs looking for something to help me diagnose the problem. I did not find anything specific enough to let me drill deeper but everytime this happen I would get a 1002 application hang error of the follwoing sort:

Things I have tried so far - repairing Office, repairing Acrobat, running several adobe tools to troubleshoot acrobat problems, disable protected view, re-installed printers.. Some further observations ...
You say that this is happening only on one of a number of systems similarly configured? Is there any difference in how the printer drivers are configured? And difference in printer driver versions or settings?
Also, is this happening when printing to a specific printer, to any number of printers, etc.? Can you share what particular printer model(s) you are printing to, the PDL used (PCL, PostScript, etc.)?
Acrobat as well as other Adobe applications usually stress both video and printer drivers much more than other applications due the graphical complexity of what often needs to be rendered. In the case of PostScript printers, these applications “pass through” PostScript to the printer via the driver and spooler using special printer driver “escapes” designed by Microsoft and Adobe. If you have a custom PostScript driver or the Microsoft driver with vendor/printer model-specific plug-ins, there may be an issue there.
You obviously know your way around Windows if you have gotten to the point of knowing about the Spooler service and experimenting with restarting same.    I'll think about this one some more and see if I can guess at some other issues that might cause this. I guess the good and bad news is that this is only on one of your systems.

Try a soft reset by pressing down the home and sleep buttons simultaneousely until the Apple logo appears, then release the buttons. This is a safe proceedure, so you won't lose any stored data.

Since about 2 weeks ago for no apparent reason, the internet on my iPad suddenly stopped working (when I open Safari, it says: "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the Internet"), even though the Wifi icon in the top left corner still shows full signal. However, I noticed when I went into Wifi settings (Settings>Wifi) that there is no checkmark next to my network name (only the spinning circle icon, as if it's trying to process something). This only happens at home (I can browse the internet while connected to Wifi at university). My other Apple devices (MacBook Pro and iPhone 4S) work perfectly fine at home.
I've tried resetting my router, restarting my iPad, resetting Network Settings on my iPad, and tried following Hynes' instructions on this thread:https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2453187?start=15&tstart=0, but nothing has worked so far (although I have to admit that I found the instructions on that thread somewhat confusing, so there is a chance that I accidentally did not follow them properly).

Firefox 15.1 stops responding for no apparent reason!

As the title says, Firefox 15.1 stops responding for no apparent reason!
I just did a re-format of my system disk and I re-installed Vista 64-bit on it. I have obviously re-installed everything from Windows updates to chipset, graphics and sound drivers. I also pulled down the latest and greatest version of Firefox which at the time is 15.1. So installed that too.
Every now and then Firefox just stops responding for no apparent reason. It looks like it is processing the request (after clicking a link etc.) but it then it's just a silence... nothing happens!
It doesn't even say it can't load the page and Windows doesn't even say that it has stopped responding. Not even after I click like crazy on the Firefox interface like different buttons and tabs and on the web page... not even then does it say "not responding" in the title bar of the window, which is usually the case when you deal with programs that are not responding immediately (you get that dialog that asks you if you would like to close the program or search for solutions online). Just nothing!... it's only quite and does nothing....
At the same time, all other programs are working flawlessly, such as the Explorer (Windows Explorer), or even Internet Explorer. And Internet connection is not lost!
I have no add-ons or extensions installed whatsoever. I just installed Firefox! I haven't even had the time to install Java yet. All I have is Adobe Flash player. That's the only extra. Otherwise it's in its' original form, default settings, etc, etc, etc.

I have been on Firefox 14.x something before I re-installed Vista. For a good reason so! This is why I hate the new update model of Firefox and I don't jump on the next train (version) unless it's safe and I'm having compatibility issues with the one I use at the moment. This is why my first step after installing Firefox always is to disable automatic updates! I hate it when the software vendors are pushing out their latest software versions forcefully.
Frankly, I think this new Firefox version of yours is crap. It's not properly tested and it doesn't belong in the official release channel. This is more like a nightly build or something. It probably has some memory leak, despite the promises made by Firefox engineers that it will not have memory leaks and that it would be the fastest version of Firefox ever. I don't really need a faster browsing, I need a stable browser for reliable browsing. The speed of this Firefox version is close to ZERO! When it's not responding at all...
I have been a fan of Firefox since 0.8. I will be probably ditching this latest version and going back to an older version like 13 or 14 that's more closer to the reality and not in this fantasy world of fastest, greatest, latest, version this, version that, latest features. I just want a browser that works man!... I'm getting tired of Firefox. I may even ditch it altogether in favor of.... I don't know.... Safari?... Chrome?.... I might even go back to Internet Explorer after like 12 years of absence.

Macbook pro 13 inch mid 2010 crashing for no apparent reason

Hi there guys,
My Macbook Pro for the last few months keeps crashing for no apparant reason. I say this because it does not seem to matter what program I am running, how many programs I am running, or indeed have anything to do with my software. Im now sure of this because I took it to the genius bar today and they gave me a system format/reset and the problem is still there.
They also ran diagnostics on the hardware and everything seemed to be ok...
Has anyone else had this problem? I'll paste my report after my latest crash below incase anyone can make heads or tails of it!

That panic was not caused by third-party software. If the problem is recurrent, the possibilities are:
A stale or corrupt kernel cache
A damaged OS X installation
A fault in a peripheral device, if any
Corrupt non-volatile memory (NVRAM)
An internal hardware fault (including incompatible memory)
An obscure bug in OS X
You may already have ruled out some of these.
Rule out #1 by starting up in safe mode and then restarting as usual. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
You can rule out #2 and #3 by reinstalling the OS and testing with non-essential peripherals disconnected and aftermarket expansion cards removed, if applicable. Sometimes a clean reinstallation may solve a problem that isn't solved by reinstalling in place.
Corrupt NVRAM, which rarely causes panics, can be ruled out by resetting it.
If your model has user-replaceable memory, and you've upgraded the memory modules, reinstall the original memory and see whether there's any improvement. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts. Clean them with a mild solvent such as rubbing alcohol. Aftermarket memory must exactly match the technical specifications of the machine.
Apple Diagnostics or the Apple Hardware Test, though generally unreliable, will sometimes detect a fault. A negative test can't be depended on. Run the extended version of the test, if applicable.
In the category of obscure bugs, reports suggest that FileVault may trigger kernel traps under some unknown conditions. Most, though not all, of these reports seem to involve starting up from an aftermarket SSD. If those conditions apply to you, try deactivating FileVault.
Even if FileVault is not active, an aftermarket SSD may be the cause of kernel panics. Check the manufacturer's website for a firmware update.
Connecting more than one display is another reported trigger for OS X bugs.
If the system is not fully up to date, running Software Update might get you a bug fix.
In rare cases, a malformed network packet from a defective router or other network device can cause panics. Such packets could also be sent deliberately by a skillful attacker. This possibility is something to consider if you run a public server that might be the target of such an attack.
Otherwise, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days. There isn't much point in doing this unless you can reproduce the panic, or if you can't, it happens often enough that it's likely to be repeated at the store. Otherwise you may be told that nothing is wrong.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.

Optical Drive Accesses for No Apparent Reason

I have a new HP Pavilion dv7 laptop with Windows 7 64-bit OS. My question concerns accesses to the optical drive for no apparent reason. While it seems reasonable that when booting up the system the firmware will check the optical drive to see if there is a startup CD in it I do not understand other apparent attempts to access the optical drive. For example, after bootup and running within Windows 7 I attempt to play a mp3 music file residing on the hard disk I can hear the optical drive being accessed. Specifically, I double click on a mp3 file on my hard disk but before the music player application pops up I hear several clicks and clacks as the computer checks the optical drive for a disk...I assume. Is there a setup file someone where this kind of activity is enabled? IMHO, the computer should not be attempting to check the optical dirve when attempting to play a mp3 file on the HD.
Another scenario I've noticed is during the logon process. Specifically, as the computer boots up there is a typical click-clack of the optical drive as the firmware checks to see if there is a startup CD in the drive. Next, Windows 7 in up and running but sitting on the user logon screen. When I type my password to log onto my account I hear more click-clack accesses to the optical drive. This may be a typical thing for Windows 7...I'm not sure as I'm new to Windows 7. However, the description I gave above concerning playing of mp3 music seems odd.
The sound I hear is definitely not the hard disk. It is the same sound that the optical drive makes if you open the drive and close it without inserting a disk. That is, the laser tracking motor moving the laser pickup from the outer edge to the inner edge and back to check to see if a CD or DVD is sitting in the drive. Playing an mp3 music file residing on the hard disk causes this to happen. It only happens once when starting up the music player.

What is the media application you have in the computer? Such as Intervideo windvd. cyberlink etc…
Few applications keep checking the media even though these applications are not in use. Fixes for such applications are posted on respective support websites, you may want to check and update. or if you do not wish to use such applications you can try un-installing these applications and verify the functionality.

IMac keeps crashing for no apparent reason

For the last couple of days my iMac has been crashing for no apparent reason. The only thing I have done that is new is to download, install and play Tomb Raider, from the app store. Each time I have has a crash I have run disk doctor and had no disk errors, and only a minor permissions error.

HELP ! ! ! - Modem disconnects for no apparent reason and won't reconnect

HELP!!! My modem has been disconnecting for no apparent reason and then when I try to reconnect, it will seem to start the process, and then switch to "Disconnecting . . ." which will then run without an apparent end until I restart the computer. On Tue. and Wed. it dropped the connection promptly at about 6:45. Thursday it dropped at about 8:15. Please help me with this. I don't like having to do a restart in the middle of my work!

Mail accounts have two separate sets of credentials and settings. One set of credentials for inbound (receiving) mail and also used for accessing any mail you've saved on your ISP mail server — POP or IMAP is used for that — and one set for outbound (sending) email messages out — SMTP is used for that.
Your outgoing email settings are likely incorrect; here is Apple's support document (TS3276)
You can use the Connection Doctor (Mail.app Window > Connection Doctor) to get (and show details) but your description certainly seems that your outbound (SMTP) settings — server name, port, username, password, whether SSL/TLS is disabled (unlikely) or enabled (likely) — don't match what your mail ISP requires.
In Mail.app, the inbound (POP or IMAP) mail account settings are easy to find. Mail.app Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information. The sending (SMTP)Nsettings are buried, and you have to select the inbound (POP or IMAP) settings (Mail.app Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information) and then switch the Outbound SMTP Server pop-up setting to its Edit SMTP Server List setting, and you'll get a whole different set of settings shown. Select the SMTP server for your ISP from the list, and then edit the settings to match the requirements.
I unfortunately can't tell you what the settings need to be, because the required settings can and do differ by ISP.

Select: Play user interface sound effects
And make sure the Mute box is not selected.
Now open Mail. From the Mail menu bar clik Mail > Preferences then select the General tab.
Make a selection from the: New messages sound pop up menu.
