Bookmarks sidebar has to be manually removed

Since I upgraded to iOS 8(I did NOT upgrade to 8.1), whenever I hit the blue bookmarks icon on the left side of the task bar, the bookmarks sidebar won't disappear until I hit the icon again--even after going to a website. This didn't happen before the upgrade. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

TThat happens in horizontal orientation if you try to vertical works fine. But this is not the normal action.
My problems with safari is when you going back page reloads the whole page and then goes to the point you left the page.
All these with iOS 8 and iOS 8.0.2. Just doing nothing.

I upgraded to Firefox 25 today and now my Bookmarks menu seems to have additional spacing, requiring a lot more scrolling. How do I get it back to how it was? I've also tried installing the css file with the code following

.sidebar-placesTree treechildren::-moz-tree-row {

• Bookmarks Folders Freeze In Bookmarks Sidebar

When Bookmarks Sidebar has been open for a few minutes folders tend to freeze.
They can freeze in the open position or the closed position.
Clicking on them will make no difference.
The only way to remedy this is to close the sidebar and go back to View Bookmarks Sidebar.
They will open in the same position, but clicking on them will now work.
This problem has happened through recent versions of Firefox.
I am now on version 35.0.1.
Numerous virus tests have been run, but nothing has shown.
I use Windows Vista.
As I have a lot of bookmarks I would not like to lose any.
Would appreciate any help.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
* Click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

• In FF 25 on XP there was a star to left of navigation toolbar to open bookmarks sidebar, now it's on the right, but does not open the sidebar - what's up?

I want that little star back that opens the bookmarks sidebar. It's just to the left of the address field on XP in FP 25. But on Windows 8 in FP 25.0.1 it's not there. Instead there's a star that sometimes appears on the right of the address bar. But the star on the right does not open the bookmarks sidebar. It only displays a list of bookmarks and options, which do not include opening the sidebar.
Has this option been removed and replaced with Ctrl B?

You can look at the Classic Theme Restorer extension to restore some functionality that was lost with the arrival of the Australis style in Firefox 29.
This includes toolbar icons to open the bookmarks and the history in the sidebar.
*Classic Theme Restorer: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/
You can check the settings of the CTR extension via its Options/Preferences button on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" page.

• I cannot work out what the folders in my Bookmark sidebar mean

My Bookmarks sidebar, which is where I store and work my bookmarks, is now showing, below the usual headers down to "Mozilla Firefox" and its subheads, a (yellow) folder called "Temp". This is where all the bookmarks I use regularly are listed. i don't know why it is called "Temp" as i thought that was supposed to be a name for a folder which only holds bookmarks for a few days, heaven help me if that was the case, but it clearly is not in this instance.
It also has right under it another yellow folder called "[Folder name]". This seems to have in it another bunch of bookmarks that I have opened at some stage, but certainly in some cases have deleted in recent months. I don't know what they are going there.
When I download a new bookmarks, Firefox 29 now puts it into "Unsorted Bookmarks" and you have to drag and drop it to the folder you want to use. I have tried several times to do this, resulting in the new bookmark not appearing in the folder called "Temp" which is my real bookmark folder (I do not know why it has this name). They seem to stay in "Recently Bookmarked" OK, so I don't lose them, but trying to drag and drop to the header "Bookmarks Menu" as I used to in Firefox 28, or "Temp", which seems to be the header for my real bookmarks list, either has no result, or else the bookmark appears in "[Folder Name]", but underneath all the old bookmarks in that, but slightly indented from the list called "Temp".
I don't know what the folder called "[Folder]" is doing, or if I should re-name the folder called "Temp" (which is not a temp folder), although I think I should.
Or why it is so difficult to drag and drop. Which point in the list should I drag and drop to? (I know how to Sort by Name, that is not a problem.)
I know that when I download a new bookmark, I should hit the star twice and choose a folder at that point which, if I remember to do it at once, will save me from having to drag and drop, but I still don't know why I am not making the drag and drop work properly.
My entire Firefox setup was imported from my previous (XP) computer within the last few months to my current (Windows 7) computer, but the changes which are confusing me seem to have happened with the advent of Firefox 29.
I have read the Help page before I posted this.
I do not understand the "Automatically add" button on the "Question" form, and I don't like tampering with things I have no information about in case I just dig myself into a deeper hole (which has been known to happen).
Thank you for any illumination you can offer.

You can check for problems with the <b>places.sqlite</b> database file in the Firefox profile folder.

Note that "Recently Bookmarked" is a so called Smart Bookmark that shows the result of a place query in a list and isn't a real existing folder.
* Smart folders show a list created by a query of the places.sqlite database that stores bookmarks and history in Firefox.
* Smart folder lists show a maximum of 10 entries by default.
* Bookmarks or history items that show up in a smart folder list are stored elsewhere in another folder and any changes made are applied to the real bookmark or history item.

• The bookmarks sidebar keeps popping in and out and I can't get it to stop. I have gone to "View" and tried to hide it but no luck. Any suggestions?

The bookmarks sidebar keeps popping in and out. This shifts the screen making it hard to read or write anything. I have gone to "View" but am unable to stop it. The firefox questions don't address this issue.

Did you check if there were extensions installed in that new profile?<br />
Some programs install extensions globally and appear automatically in a new profile.
Do a clean (re-)install:
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br />

• How to manually remove Flash?

Is there a way to manually remove every part of Adobe Flash from OSX so that I can reinstall? I have posted the following on Adobe's forums but haven't managed to get a single reply!
Flash is crashing when I try playing video in Safari, Firefox or Google Chrome.
Chrome says that I have two almost identical versions of flash installed.
I have downloaded the uninstaller - it completes and says it has uninstalled, but does absolutely nothing.
Installing new versions does nothing either, I have rebooted in between etc but nothing. I've even tried removing the browsers and reinstalling.

Ok, getting some where, if not further
Finally found the plug-in, in Chrome's package contents (by right-clicking Chrome in finder and clicking 'show package contents').
Firefox and Safari must have been sharing it somehow, as removing this stopped flash working in them also!!
Have now removed Chrome & Firefox altogether. Re-ran flash uninstaller. Yay! No flash! Rebooted, installed Flash. First use - crashed!! Closed and reopened Safari - second run, video stuttering.
I know Mr Jobs doesn't want us to have Flash anyway, but I need it for some sites and this is really doing my head in :/

• How do I manually remove CD from flat screen i-mac

Disc is not showing up on the screen and cannot eject it - have tried all keyboard/eject combos. Reset PRAM, tried eject prompt in terminal - Superdrive appears to be dead. Any suggestion to manually remove the disc? I need to retrieve data on it.

Hi,
Have had same basic problem. Here's how I got the disk out. Go to Application Folder and open Utilities Folder. Then open Disk Utilities. On the left of the screen you'll see a list of your drives including the DVD drive with the disk that is in it. Highlight the disk and click on the eject button at the top of the screen. The disk should come out if the drive has not failed. Good luck. This is a real pain but this worked for me. It's simple once you do it.

• How do I open the bookmarks sidebar in firefox 7?

I can't seem to find where I can open a sidebar to view my bookmarks and browsing history without opening a separate window. I know in the older version of firefox I could just click view>sidebar and that's what the help instructions say to do, but that info doesn't show anything about opening a sidebar with the latest version of firefox because there is no "view" option, or at least none that I can see!

You can hit the Alt key to temporarily show the Menu Bar, which has the View menu. Or you can use { Ctrl + B } to open (and close) the Bookmarks Sidebar.

• How do I set Firefox 29 to always show the bookmarks sidebar with one click instead of a drop down menu?

I've decided to just get used to Firefox 29 instead of messing with add-ons and what not to make it look like it used to but one thing that is too ingrained is a favorites/bookmarks sidebar with one click. I just don't like the drop down menu. Is there a way to set the "Bookmarks" button to show the sidebar in one click?

I want the bookmarks sidebar button. This should be a BASIC feature available, not something I need to install an add-on for to revert to some "classic restore". Why is something so straightforward and easy to use considered "classic", and everything has to be hidden and hard to see in this new version? All the colours in the new tabs BTW are are BLUE, and they blend in with the background at the top, you can't see the tab edges - whose bright idea is this?

• Access denied while manually removing reader 8.x

While following the instructions for manually removing Adobe Reader 8.x as posted here:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/400/kb400769.html
when I try to delete AcroIEHelper.dll, AcroPDF.dll, and pdfshell.dll as per the instructions, I get "Access denied".
I am running XP SP3, logged on under administrator, running in diagnostic mode, and explorer.exe has been terminated.  I have also tried deleting these in safe mode under the same conditions.
I'm not sure what has these locked.  Any suggestions as to what I should try?
Thanks.

Mike,
Thank you for responding!  I tried running that on a testbed/sandbox machine to test it out before using this fix on a live machine, and it resulted in me NOT being able to reinstall any Adobe Reader, any version, at all.  When I tried to reinstall 8.1.x or 9.x, the download manager just reported that it was "unable to install" with not much else to go on.
It also left the Adobe Reader add-on installed in Firefox, and there was no way to uninstall it.
I'd love to try using the MS Installer Clean-up tool if I could understand exactly how I should proceed with it - exactly what steps I need to take.
Can you help me here?  Again, I appreciate your response and look forward to getting this problem behind me!
Thanks!
