Books, calendars, etc in Australia

I'm very impressed with the ability to create calendars and books in the new iPhoto.
Unfortunately Australia seems to be missing out. When I go to the support pages for iPhoto printing on apple.com.au, any topics end up at a "page not found" site. Any ideas on this facility will be made available to Australian users? As I would definitely be a customer!

I know you asked this months ago but I just found it.
we've just finished printing our first few iPhoto calendars for a client. At this stage we're not promoting or advertising a service but if you'd like to get a calendar done at a very cheap 'experimental' rate, please feel free to drop me a reply and we can talk offline. At this stage we can only do calendars or cards but will probably look at books if there's enough interest.

IPhoto 11 Upgrade - Themes to Creating Books, Calendars, etc...

I've recently updated my iMac to Lion then upgraded my iPhoto from 08 to iPhoto 11. When trying to create calendars or books I get a message saying that I do not have any themes downloaded. Did something go wrong when I downloaded the application? I

Sounds like it.
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

Syncing with Multiple Address Books, Calendars, etc.

I need to be able to sync my iPhone with calendar, contacts, etc. on my PC at work and my Mac at home so I can have 1 view of my entire life.
Has anyone been able to do this?
I understand why we can only sync with 1 media library, I'm fine with that. But syncing with home and work for everything else should be fine. I've done this for years with my Palm.

You should be able to sync the data with more than one computer.
However, the sync between 2 different computers causes the data to merge.
So, you can sync one computer with the iphone, and when you want to sync to the second computer, itunes will want to merge the data. The data will merge both ways. So, in the end all your contacts and calendars on both computers and the iphone will be exactly the same.

Simple scheduler/calendar, phone book, calculator, etc. in tiny iPod Nano?

Hello.
I have a tiny (six/6)th generation 8 GB iPod Nano. Does it not have a simple scheduler/calendar, phone book, calculator, etc. or did I miss them? I just want basic apps. I was hoping to replace my old school old school Casio Data Bank (DB) 150/300 watch that isn't sold anymore. I do not want to get and use an iPod Touch/iPhone since they are big, heavy, etc. since I have multiple disabilities. I like the wrist watch for its lightness and smallness. Maybe there's a third party replacement for its software like they do with the other iPods and iPhones?

Printing of books, calendars and cards is impossible

Hello,
I just discovered a big problem with iPhoto 7.1.1 (354). It is impossible to choose a book, calendar or card template. But everythin I shoul need is in the folder "iphoto" in the Library's "Application Support". What can I do?
Of course, I have made a new installation of iPhoto from the system CD, but this did not change anything.
I would really appreciate any help!

1 - delete the iPhoto application.
2 - delete the Themes folder in the User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder.
3 - delete all files with "iPhoto" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder.
4 - reinstall iPhoto and update to the latest version, 7.1.1.
5 - repair disk permissions with Disk Utility. NOTE: could take up to 20 or more minutes as there's a problem/bug with this process in Leopard.
6 - launch iPhoto and try printing again.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Has anyone coded a booking calendar feature into BC?

My customer has a building business and would like to include a booking calendar feature that does the follow process each time a booking is generated:
1. Online booking form that includes:
• a list of trades to choose from.
• asks for a postcode (the area is very important as this service will not be offered in every suburb of sydney). If the suburb is out of area a response page is generated saying that we cannot help them in that suburb.
• If their postcode is accepted in the area of serviceability then the next part is detailing the type of service required.
• Then there needs to be a calendar that they can choose a time and day. The calendar must not show today or tomorrow as available times. In other words, there needs to be a window of 2 days before anyone can make a booking. The calendar must also be able to block out the certain days of the week and this needs to be editable from the back-end by the administrator.
• The next step is an invoice is generated for the customer and payment is made by credit card in BC.
2. Once a booking has been made the workflow must include the following:
The booking request is sent via e-mail to all tradesman (users of BC) and they need to respond with an ACCEPT or REJECT the job. If no acceptance is made within 12 hours, then the request is escalated to an (Administration person of BC).
3. Once a booking has been accepted. A calendar style events page is updated. This calendar shows all the jobs booked in and is only accessible by the Administrator.
ALSO 3. Once a booking has been accepted. A another calendar style events page is updated showing only the jobs booked in for a specific tradesperson and is only visable by that tradesperson.
4. A confirmation e-mail is sent to the client that has made the booking saying that "Mr Joe Blow" will be attending this job on that day etc etc.
Can anyone code this? If so I need to talk to you ASAP. My customer is ready to proceed.

Apparently is is a Google Chrome browser issue. There is no issue in Firefox. BC says they are working on a solution.

IPhoto 6 book/calendar order failures

Using iPhoto version 6 (version 6.0.6 (322)), I have tried to make my first order (3 copies of a calendar) using 12 jpg digital photos from my iPhoto library. (Upgraded to iPhoto 6 as per Apple Support advice after similar error with iPhoto 5 in early 2007 - although strangely have made successful book orders in 2006!)
However, this always fails - I get the error message "An error occurred while uploading one of your files. Please check your network connection and click Retry to resend your file." I have tried re-sending several times, restarted completely, created a duplicate calendar, etc, but no luck, the same error message appears. I can create a PDF file without any problem. I have no other problems with iPhoto or my iMac or with other uploading/downloading, broadband connections, etc. Any ideas - is there some preference file or something that needs trashing?

Thanks Jonathan - but in my case I've been trying on and off sporadically for over 8 months! This was first on iPhoto 4, now on iPhoto 6 (Apple Support told me in April when still on iPhoto 4 that "If this does not resolve the issue for you, I would advise you to upgrade to iLife '06." - a good sales pitch on their part but it's changed nothing!).
I've tried some of the other suggested fixes, e.g. creating a new account, deleting specific files ("Preferences" - "By Host" folder and the "com.apple.iPhoto.plist"; Library - "Caches", Trash the iPhoto folder, as per http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=556861&tstart=90) but no luck.
Strangely enough, up to about January 2007 I'd successfully ordered two or three books on the old iPhoto 4 set-up. I wasn't aware of any changes to set-up - same OS etc, it just stopped working for me! Any other ideas out there?

Considering moving to Aperture. Does it have the very simple online printing of books, calendars and cards as is found in iPhoto?
Looking at the manual I see more sophisticated ways of preparing books etc, but sometimes it is nice to just be simpler and quicker for family etc

No. In order to have a book delivered to Germany you need to set iPhoto to the Gernamy Print Store in the iPhoto Preferences and use a credit card with a German billing address.

Two different users, same contacts, calendar, etc.

Howdy everyone! I need some help. First, I consider myself fairly smart when it comes to iOS products, etc. so I've tried to mess with this on my own before reaching out to those that are smarter than me.
First, I upgraded my wife's phone and my phone to iOS 8 last night, seamless process.
We share the same contacts and calendar so we've always have used the same icloud account.
Main reason is so that we can share contacts, calendar, etc. We also share the same itunes account so that when we purchase an app or a song, etc. it's on all our devices without having to purchase it twice.
Now, with the new family sharing this isn't an issue.
My question is, well many questions are, now it's giving me troubles. It thinks my phone is my wife's phone and "find my friends" aren't working. It says "can't share location with yourself".
Also, I'm not opposed to using two different iclouds because we have family sharing now, but it's imperative that we see each others location for safety concerns, contacts and calendar.
I can't figure the best way to set this up to fit our needs.

Backing up Books & Calendars

Is there a way to backup JUST a book or calendar? I don't want to backup my entire iPhoto library, but just specific books/calendars.
I know you can print as a PDF but I'm looking for a way to have the full book and be able to edit it and print again in the future. PDF would only let me see what I did and have to rebuild the entire thing
My main problem is that I built a book, but have since renamed the JPG files (used to be "DSC967, 968, 969" etc and now it's "Vacation 2008 01, 02, 03" etc.). So I want to reload the photos into iPhoto and erase the current ones, but that would destroy my book.

Have you checked your mute switch (right above the volume buttons)? If you see orange, it is muted and will affect the rings, but not the audio on YouTube.
Just toggle the switch so you don't see the orange and check again.

One Apple ID, two iPhones, same iCloud. How do I get rid of this without losing contacts, calendars etc?

Hi there, hope someone can help.
My mum upgraded about 18 months ago to an iphone 5 and to set it up we used my Apple ID as it was linked to my dads bank card. Had absolutely no problems with this, everything has maintained separate.
However when my mum decided to update to ios7 (and as she is a novice has not backed her phone up since upgrading) At first it appeared that when she updated she had lost all her contacts, calendars etc but this was restored through iCloud.
Now our phones appear completely linked. Eg when I receive a FaceTime call it goes to my mums phone as well.
So is there any way of splitting our iCloud account without having to lose all our data? Especially as my mum has months worth of business meetings. To make it worse we currently live the other side of the country from each other, so going to the Genius Bar seems rather pointless!
