Books transferred from Itunes to Ibooks loses author and category information.

How can I get author and category information for pdfs to transfer from itunes into the ibooks app on Mavericks?  I just transferred my book collection from itunes to the ibooks app and have lost all the author and category information that I entered on all my pdfs.  Do I now have to re establish this info in ibooks app?  Ibooks doesn't appear to allow for creation of new categories or editing of author's name when it assigned unknown to all my pdfs.  My book library appears to have been seriously downgraded by this "upgraded" os.

totally agree with you. Exactly the same here.
you can't re-establish this info in iBooks because it doesn't allow you to do it. No editing and organising at all (except from moving into a section of your choice).
In addition to no editing/changing, no backup/restore, no books/pdf location settings (all placed in user-library), etc. ... simply a complete disaster.
For me a killer-criteria to use OSX Mavericks! That forces me to move back to OS X mountain lion!
What did the Apple iBooks dev team think when creating this application? Come on this can't be true!

  • I think we should have been given the option to move books from iTunes to iBooks. All mine were downloaded CD booklets and inserts which were in their right place in iTunes. What do others think?

I think we should have been given the option to have our books moved from iTunes to iBooks. All mine were CD booklets and inserts downloaded with the CDs, and the obvious place for them was in iTunes. As it is now, I can no longer use my own convention for naming, sorting etc. The sort facility in iBooks does not work. What do others think?

  • Why can't I read books purchased from itunes on my macbook pro?

I find it very upsetting that books purchased from itunes on a Macbook pro can not be read on a Macbook Pro.

Many MacBook Pro users are professional authors, reseachers, teachers, ... and we need to manage large libraries of copy protected digital material (journals, book collections, protected imagery, ...) , which we directly reference and include (with citations) in our writing and analyses.
Laptops and desktops are the only viable options in terms of screen real estate (multiple monitors needed), application availability (image analytics, serious statistics, real 2D and 3D modeling, ...) high speed storage attachment (the cloud can't handle many needs) and processing horse power. iPads and iPhones are a few generations away from being adequate for many such activities, which Apple had traditionally supported.
This particular oversight by the  folks behind the Apple iTunes bookstore business, stands in stark contrast to what used to be our vision of the premier professional creative platfom. I find this deeply dissappointing and inconsiderate of our long term investment in apple technologies.
Asking folks to simply abandon their investment in copy protected ebook material, purchased on iTunes, is just wrong.

  • How do I remove my book titles from iTunes bookstore?

How do I remove my book titles from iTunes bookstore?

With regard the  reply or  part of, which  you edited out.....   as you  already have the book(s) on sale elsewhere, it is not costing you anything to have them  on the iBooks store, so  why remove from sale??
I also note the price comparisons and suggest that this may be a factor in low (any) sales so maybe its an area you could consider.  Also,  if you have a website/ facebook etc,. are you promoting sales  via you friends and  followers.
In   iTunes Connect  > Deliver your Content are a number of PDfs  to download, one of which covers Marketting, it may be worth looking at it.
Other than that,, good look with your  books where ever they are on sale.

  • Problems moving library from iTunes to iBooks

It's been a while since I messed with my library in iTunes, but I went there today to see a notice saying that my library had been moved to iBooks. So I open iBooks and there are 2-3 books in there, things I had opened with iBooks when it first came out, but not the ~300 things in my iTunes library.
So, I go dig up all the files from my iTunes library and drag them into iBooks. After this is done, I go into iTunes to pick what to sync to my iPad, and there are two copies of everything. I guess it still sees the ones in the iTunes library as well as the ones in iBooks.
I deleted everything out of iBooks. I see there's this menu item, File -> Move Books from iTunes. I pick this, and it tells me it's moving 332 books and grinds away for a while before saying that it's moved everything. When I look in the library, there is ONE book, not the 332 it said it was importing.
How can this be so broken? How on Earth do I get my books back in order?

See > iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Media folder
Note: that it is also a very good idea to backup your iTunes Library to a second drive just to be safe.

how do i open a book downloaded from itunes on my macbook pro since it is not a mobile device

Okay i looked them up and YES they are compatible with macs. if it's formatted for windows then no it will not show up on the mac, you need to repartition it on windows or try and see if you can pick it up in Disk Utility on osX. The following link is for this HD but talking about a mac PowerBook, it should be the same for you even if you are using the Intel macs. http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/other-hardware-peripherals/146258-iomega-portab le-hard-drive-not-mounting.html

    Hello cpikehfx,
    Welcome to the forums.
You can try one of the two options below to work around your issue.
Drag and drop the files from the desired music folder to the BlackBerry Music folder using the computer.
Open the desired music folder on the computer
Go into Computer or My Computer and open the BlackBerry network drive
    Open the Music folder
Drag the desired music files from the computer music folder to the BlackBerry Music folder
    Try a different Windows profile.
Go into the Control Panel and create a new user account
Put some music files in a folder that is accessible by all profiles or transfer them to the BlackBerry device
Log out of the current profile and log into the new profile
Transfer music into iTunes or Windows Media Player
Launch BlackBerry Link and go through the setup configuring the music source of your choice
Click on the Computer name in the bottom left corner of Link
Select Music on the left side
Drag and drop the desired music files from the list to the BlackBerry name in the bottom left corner of Link
If neither of these options work for you then you will want to contact your mobile service provider and ask that this issues be escalate to BlackBerry support for investigation.
Hope this helps. Have a good day.

How do I stop my new Mac book Pro from opening all my old emails and flashing them in the upper right.

Copy the entire iTunes folder within the music folder on your old Mac to the music folder on your new Mac.
You can use an external hard disc for the transfer, or you can connect the computers together using Firewire Target Disc Mode as explained here:  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1661

  • Can i use an iTunes Gift Card to rent a movie from iTunes on my iPad? And if so, how?

Can i use an iTunes Gift Card to rent a movie from iTunes on my iPad? And if so, how?

Why can't I use an iTunes gift card in Canada to purchase apps for my iTouch?
Inquiries to the iTunes Store have yielded only the following explanation:
"Due to tax laws and commerce restrictions for software in Canada, customers residing in Canada may only purchase games and applications using a credit card."
What these "laws/restrictions" might be have never been identified.
Can I somehow exchange the giftcards that I have for App gift cards?
There are no "app gift cards". Again, you can only use a credit card to purchase software in the Canadian iTunes Store.
Problem is I don't have a credit card to purchase the apps.
Perhaps you could obtain one of the "prepaid" credit cards some banks offer. If not, then the only way you'll be able to buy apps is to get someone to allow you to use their credit card.

  • How do I set up my iphone 5 so I can access my family account? I purchased music from itunes using my apple id, and those songs do not appear in our family cloud.

How do I set up my iphone 5 so that I can access my family account? Recently I purchased music from itunes using my apple id, and now I cannot find those songs in our cloud. I wanted to add those songs to my ipod. Do I have to buy them again using my husband's apple id?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can use different ID's for iTunes and iCloud.
Just delete the account in settings > iCloud and create them their own account.
if the children are minors, you wiil need to create and be responsible for each account yourself.

  • Backed up my songs from itunes onto a hard drive and now my playlists in itunes are gone! How do I retrieve them back to the way it was before?

Help! My husband backed up my songs from itunes onto a hard drive and now my playlists in itunes are gone from my library! How do I retrieve them back to the way it was before?

    Hello Nataroo007,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
There is a file in the iTunes library folder that contains your playlist information is the iTunes Library.xml file.
Try and find the file, usually located in one of these locations depending on your OS:
    Operating System
    Default location of iTunes Folder
    Mac OS X
    /Users/[your username]/Music
    Microsoft Windows XP
    \Documents and Settings\[your username]\My Documents\My Music\
    Microsoft Windows Vista
    \Users\[your username]\Music\
    Microsoft Windows 7
    \Users\[your username]\My Music\
Then you can import this file to your iTunes Library like this:
    1. Choose File > Library > Import Playlist.
    2. Navigate to the "iTunes Library.xml" file
    3. Windows users: Click Open.
If your Podcasts list in iTunes is empty after following these steps, learn how to add them back into iTunes.
Note: information in this post comes from article:
