Books won't load/open

None of my books on ibooks will load. When I click on them to open all I get is blank pages. They were opening fine yesterday and all of a sudden now they won't open. Anyone know what's up or how to fix this?

You can force quit the app:
iOS: Force an app to close
If that doesn't work do a reset i.e. hold the power and home buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.

  • Adress Book won't load

I recently upgraded to Tiger and wanted to upload my address book. But the Mac adress book won't start. I threw out all the address book folders (including pref.s and plist etc.) and selectively re-installed Adress Book. Same story, it won't open. I noticed that "Wallet" - which ahs several features in common with Address Book - won't load either. I fear that some script is missing somewhere.
    Has anybody any ideas?
    Thanks

That's good news, it means that it's limited to your Home folder. A bit of corruption somewhere. What is "Wallet" the Yahoo add on? That may be getting in the way. Log back into your normal user account and disable it and test AB.
Here's the whole litany for thoroughly checking your home folder. It's not as daunting as it looks.
    1. Navigate to ~(YourHome/Library/Fonts - drag this folder to the desktop.
    • Restart and test your applications.
    • If they work start adding the fonts back few at a time.
( Likely suspects are Times RO & Helvetica Fractions, also if you do not use Classic you can trash the classic fonts.)
    2. Check Preferences Thoroughly;
    • Navigate to ~(YourHome/Library/Preferences drag this folder to the desktop.
    • Restart and test your applications.
    • If this works, save the old preferences folder somewhere else or on disk, name it "old prefs" .
** Note: A very important file is the "com.apple.Mail.plist" preference file located in the Preferences folder which contains all email account settings and general mail preferences (hold this one and replace if your problem is not with Mail).
You'll have to go through some of your System Preferences and apps to set the preferences back to how you like them. (Or if you have the time and inclination, "cherry pick" through until you find the problem one or two.)
    3. Check Permissions Inside Home Folder
    • Navigate to YourHome/Library.
    • Get Info (Command - i) on folders for apps you are having problems with.
    • Open the "Ownership & permissions" disclosure triangle.
    • Make sure you are the owner, with "read and write" access.
    • Click on "apply to all"
    • If this is correct, open the "Applications Support" folder and do the same procedure (Command+I) for the folders with the names of the applications you are having trouble with.
    Note:
The reason to check this is because repairing permissions with Disk Utility doesn't touch permissions inside your home folder.
    4. Navigate to YourHome/Library/Caches and drag this folder to the trash, then log out and back or restart. There is no need to replace this folder.

  • Book won`t stay open in media overdrive after ios 7 install

In Media Overdrive my book won`t stay open after ios7 install.  Please help!

I got the same problem with my iphone 5 rear camera and tried the solutions suggested here but it did not work.
The camera application which came with ios7 is frozen as soon as it opens. I does not take photos or switch between cameras.
I have been able to use the front camera with Snapseed, QR reader . however no application is able to open my rear camera.
I am not sure but  it can related with the application updates either ios7 or the camera applications already installed on our iphone. Uninstalling those apps which has access to camera and rebooting may solve the problem. This is just an idea !

  • Suddenly Skype, Kobo and more apps won't load /open on my BBZ10

Hi< I am hoping you can help
Suddenly Skype, Kobo, iSpeech Translator, 8tracks, Shazam, SnapChat, Tumbler, iPrint&Scan (Brother), WinAmp, Block Puzzle, Avast and My Account App (Telus), won't load /open on my BBZ10. I am up to date in all of my software updates, I have deleted and reloaded Skype now twice, since this problem started in hopes that, this action might help.
No luck, I have removed quite a few Apps, anything of significant file size, in hopes that memory space might help, but no luck. I have rebooted and pulled the battery  many times to solve this problem, with no luck.
When I tap the app to open a black screen with a blue bar starts to load from left to right at the bottom of my screen, it gets about 1/3 of the way across the screen, and the app shuts down, and closes. Skype and Kobo both do this, I need both for Work, especially Skype though.
Thanks in advance for any advice you may be able to give.
    Cheers! Sara

I restored my phone for a second time and for some reason it fixed the issue with my contacts and phone apps. However, now it seems like my Mail app will not fetch my mail anymore. My last 6 emails don't have previews (I have mine set to preview the first 2 lines of the email). But all the previous emails do have the 2 line preview. This is very frustrating. This is my 3rd iPhone, I bought the original when it first released and skipped the 3G and bought the 3GS and now I currently own the 4S and this is the first problem I've ever had with an iPhone. I'm really trying to avoid having to speak with an Apple Genius - I shouldn't have to pay for my phone to get fixed because it's not a hardware issue and I couldn't even speak with Apple over the phone about it without an AppleCare plan. I'd much rather try to figure the problem out on my own. Any ideas?

  • Itunes store won't load\open

So basically yeah, my itunes store won't open at all. I have no error messages, nothing. I can see its loading, then it stop and i just have a blank page.
    I have a iMac with Os X Lion 10.7.5 and iTunes 11.0.2.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi luluflower84,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  If you're unable to access the iTunes Store, I would first try quitting the app if it is open:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
If the issue continues, try restarting and resetting your iPhone:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If the issue continues, try accessing the iTunes Store through another app, such as the Music app, to see if you can access it that way.  The screenshot on this page shows the store link in the upper left corner:

  • Address Book won't load

I have a G4 Dual Processor Power Mac running 10.4.8. The Address Book suddenly stopped working. When I click on the icon, it looks like it wants to load, but doesn't. If I try to access the Address Book through Mail, it caused Mail to quit.
I've thrown away the preferences, I've reinstalled the Address Book application from the System Disk and I've reinstalled the Mail program too.
    Any ideas?

I repaired the disk, and permissions, Address Book is still not loading. I trashed the preferences and reinstalled the App, again nothing.
    3. In the Finder, go to /Applications/ and try
to open Address Book by double-clicking on it. Look
at the bottom of the Console windows for messages
that might be written there as a result. They may
    provide some clues.
When I try to load the application, this is what the Console Log shows:

  • DVD from Tom Wolsky's "FCE 4 Editing Workshop" Book won't load

    Greetings:
I recently purchased FCE and Tom Wolsky's "Final Cut Express 4 Editing Workshop" Book & DVD. When I put the DVD into my MacBook Pro, it sits for about 20 seconds, then gets ejected. The computer seems not to recognize the DVD. The DVD drive is otherwise functioning perfectly (for example, I used it to load the FCE application with no problem). I've tried restarting the computer and cleaning the (spotless) DVD. Anyone else have this problem, and can anyone suggest a solution? Thanks!

You should return the book to wherever you purchased it if the DVD is defective.

  • Lesson files in the CD from Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 release (Classroom in a book) won't load.

After copying all files from the CD on to my hard drive, the files won't work when I tried to open it in Premiere Pro. It says file missing or cannot be found.
Could anyone please help me with this?

I contacted Adobe customer service and they directed me here.
They told me that they would transfer the chat to the appropriate group but ended up giving me this community forums link.

  • IBooks on iPad, book won't stay open

One of my books opens then is dropped in a few seconds.  The others work normally.  What to do?
    Thanks

It appears as though this book may be corrupt. You can try several things but if the download is corrupt, your best course of action might be to delete the book and download it again.
You can try quitting the app and restart the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
You can try resetting the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or you can delete the book and download it again. Go to iBooks. Tap on the edit button in the upper right corner. Tap on the book to select it. Tap the red delete button. Go to the IBookstore. Tap on the purchased tab. Find the book and download it again.
You must use the same apple ID that you bought the book with in order to download it again for free.
This article explains how to download past purchase.

  • Ipad1 ibook2 free book won't load over wifi

Tried to download the free new iBook textbook to my ipad1 over wifi.  I got MSG I needed the ibook2 update, so I got the update.  Then tried to get the book again and it is stuck in pause but almost all downloaded.  I haven't yet tried connecting my iPad to my iMac.  What's up?

Right then, I managed to trouble shoot this to a successful conclusion. I have a Vigor ADSL modem with built-in firewall and one of the settings - namely the "Drop non-http connection on TCP port 80" – located under the FW General Settings, is the cause of my problems.
If I disable this option the maps load correctly. So for those of you with similar hardware and configuration, consider disabling this option.

  • App store doesn't work,won't load/open,can't download anything

    app store doesn't work

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take an action that isn't working the way you expect. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name or email address, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • Audio books won't sync

I follow the instructions for syncing audiobooks, but the books won't load on the ipod nana (7th generation).  The do show up in Itunes.

Thank you BobbyD for your suggestion. This article had useful info -, all of which I tried at some point -  but did not fix the problem. After 3 hours on the phone spread over 2 sessions, with Apple Support, the solution was to start over-  delete all the books from Itunes, copy the files from my audible books download folder to my desktop, and reimport into Itunes. There were still a few that would not sync to the nano, but they were old files. The new books all synced finally.
We were also able to get the files to load on the Nano one at a time by first starting to play it on ITunes, then drag and dropping it into the nano. This seemed an arduous way to do it, and clearly wasn't what was intended,  but it indicated that the issue was with the file, not the nano, so we tried several things related to the files, and finally took the action described above.
I can't wait to buy more books and see what happens with those books.

  • Book won't open in ibooks receive this message failed to load book because the requested resource is missing

Receive this message when I try and open a book " failed to load book because the requested resource is missing" I have deleted the book and deleted Ibooks and still keep getting this message. Any ideas on what I should do.

I have tried deleting and redownloading  a few times and still won't work.  At one point, I had two icons for the same book, both acting in the same manner.  This is just one of many issues I am having with iPad mini. Do you have another suggestion for fixing this?

I updated my Macbook Pro last week to Lion.  I went to go import pictures from a memory card to my iPhoto, but only a portion of them loaded before my iPhoto froze and I had to Force Quit it. Now iPhoto won't even open... Help!
Please! I need an answer fast!!!!

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
