It will do this from time to time Mine does it as Well Make Sure you get the App Called EQ you can get it Free or you can get the Paid Version an using this app will help with the snapping as it did Mine how did it do it once i got the app installed an then went in an Opened it. I cut the 14kHz down to + 1.2% an you can cut it down even further mostly with Eq's you just find the sound that best suites you an calms down the Snapping.. But if it's really bad Mickam an since your under your 14 days you could return if want but as said if you want to give a day or Two an see if the i mentioned helps the sound go ahead an Keep it..
To keep my Unlimited for Two more years i went bought another Maxx i wasn't really interested in any of the Others Devices i wanted or thought about a Rezound but Rep i work with said they had Units come back with issues. Some have gotten really Hot, the Cameras have Quite an some have Seized Up. But i really wanted to give it a Chance.!  but stood Fast and took home another Maxx.. But i still have old Betsy my Droid X she's my Baby an even though she's not I.C.S upgradable she can still can come in if i need her. As a Very good back up.. So i'm Rockin Two Maxx's b33

  • Droid Razr Maxx HD Boot Loop/Factory Reset

My Droid Razr Maxx HD has been stuck in boot loop on the eye animation. I did a factory reset from the boot menu, but it is still stuck in boot loop. HELP PLEASE!

I'm very sorry to see that your device is causing you grief! I can see that you've already attempted a factory reset. I'd like to know more about that step. When attempting to process that reset, did it appear to complete it only to return to this 'boot loop'? Can you describe what you did, and what you saw? Also, has the device been damaged or has it's operating system been fundamentally altered (rooted)?

  • How do I add a boot animation with splashy

Hello today i was looking at my beloved arch linux boot up (for the brief moment it does cause its so fast) and i thought why not give my arch linux a boot animation so i went to the arch wiki and read the page but then it said the page was out of date because of the recent update to systemd for example i cant find /etc/rc.conf/. Any help would be greatly appreciated
PS: is this even possible because i dual boot arch and windows 7
Last edited by LinuxPatriot (2014-05-18 04:44:07)

according to comments in splashy-full and splashy AUR packages, there are no systemd services written yet, so unless you are up for the task it might be impossible to make it work on your arch system.
most largest distributions that ship with splash screen on default, use plymouth, so you might want to look into that instead. the wiki page recommends using plymouth-git package, but according to AUR comments it may be currently broken, so you might have better success with the plymouth (non -git) package
dual booting doesn't matter in this case. whatever boot splash you use will only show up after you've selected to boot to linux from your bootloader

  • My Razr maxx will not boot.  Help

My phone worked this morning, then I shut it down to charge it with the automotive charger from Motorola.  I tried to start it and nothing happened.  I have read all of the posts about holding down the power and the - (minus) volume button and also the + (plus) volume button and nothing  happens.  I then tried to plug it not the wall socket and nothing happens, I do not  even get a sustained white light.  It flickers when I plug it in then goes off.  I have an old Razr Maxx and it will boot up but will not import my contacts from the SD card.  Help

If there on your SD card they can be Save when you Pull the Card but when you install it in your Replacement Razr don't format the card or they'll be Gone and i just remembered if you have a SD Card adapter you can put your micro in it and then put the Adapter in your Computer and get your Pictures i have done this in the past. Sorry your Maxx didn't come around and Good Luck on the Next one. Let me Know how it's Working when you get it.. b

  • After ICS, phone gets stuck at Droid boot animation

Ever since the ICS update, now my phone can't be turned off ever again, or upon booting it back up, it will always get stuck on the Droid boot animation. I can never get passed this now, and I've done soft resets, factory resets, cleared cache. I went to my local Verizon store and the Tech employee put it on her computer, where it did boot up. But now I'm wondering if I'm stuck with a phone that I can't ever turn off again unless I want to take it to a Verizon store in every instance.

        Hi Eri
I don't want you to be with a broken device. It may be an application causing this issue. Did any applications come back after the reset? I'm sure we can get this addressed!
Please power down the device then remove the battery and Sim card then reinsert and retest.
Let me know if this helps. I'll be happy to continue troubleshooting.
    Thank you

  • SLOW GUI in RAZR MAXX

I bought this phone because I wanted something with killer battery life AND because it's loaded with RAM and processing power.  But after I updated to ICS ( due to issues) I noticed that all the nice animations that I had on the old OS are now gone.  My phone is slow and choppy!  Turning the phone horizontal and vertical causes the orientation to change after about 2 seconds and it doesn't transition smoothly.  it just "pops" into it's new orientation without trying to look smooth while it's doing it.  This is the story with MANY of the featurs on the phone.  The menus are slow and boring.  I bought an expensive phone so that I would not have to deal with "free smart phone" blues.  But look what I got.  I slow, choppy phone that I paid out the nose for.
Any suggestions?  Is there any setting that will allow a friendlier looking OS?  This thing just looks like it is out of the 80's.  Sometimes I have to restart it because it responds to touch slowly.  looking at pictures is a painstaking and embarassing feat.  I had to put fireworks as my backdrop so that it would look exciting.  blah.  I should have gone with the galaxy SIII or something.
    AM I MISSING SOMETHING???

  • Razr Maxx - still lagging

I've had a Razr Maxx for about 2.5 years, and it's been working pretty ok, all this time.   The update to 4.12 that was pushed in Nov.2013 did cause some issues for a few months, apps just didn't run as smoothy.  Certain things, like rhapsody, would randomly fail when you clicked play to play a track.  The biggest problem was lagging.  Esp with scrolling.  Task managers or the lack of, and just closing apps manually, deleting cache, even clearing ALL pictures off the phone and a cold boot, did not resolve.  I then did a factory reset, which was ok for a little while and then it started to drag, again.
Verizon replaced the phone with another Razr Maxx, and after doing my re-install everything seemed ok.  The phone wasn't getting "hot" like the previous one was, so they were convinced there was a processor problem.  As the phone would lag worst when it got up to operating temperature, or, a stream of TXT-ing or facebook messaging had just happened.  Or the battery was low.
In my experience I have found clearing out long back-and-forth text message threads help a LOT, as well as (strangely) toggling your wallpaper to a different choice.  It only improves/improved performance for a little while though.
Now with this NEW phone, and no reason why it should lag, I did however notice that as all my programs were updating, the problem seemed to return after I installed Twitter (and more specifically when it got to the SMS part), or Facebook.  Though facebook was working ok on the phone and it didn't seem to start the lag problem til I installed Twitter.  I force quit the app so the two werent forced to 'play nicely' together.   Then I put google search on the phone, so i'd have the toolbar on my homescreen and could search by clicking the microphone.  Mistake.  Now it's so laggy.  So I don't know where the problem lies.
Any advice?  My internal 16gb is relatively empty as there's no pictures and about 25 apps.  I think I have narrowed the culprit down to one of these 3 apps though. @oceddie  oceddie might have some helpful advice.

You've certainly done various tasks to try to keep your phone running smoothly, and RobinD_VZW provided you with a good recommendation.
When a phone suffers major lag, it is often because an app (or apps) is causing it.  I've uninstalled numerous preloaded apps which I didn't want, and also disabled those which I couldn't uninstall.  I currently have 38 apps disabled.  As we continue to update apps when a newer version is available, often times an app may not be thoroughly optimized for a particular OS (or may not "play as nice as" the previous version) which causes some trouble or slight incompatibility.  For example, I determined Chrome was causing the most serious issues on my Razr Maxx (frequent freezing and instability) more than any other app, so I disabled it.  I also determined Google+ was one causing some slight trouble (some minor instability but mainly battery drain), so I disabled it as well.  My phone is running much better since I've disabled these two apps.  It's a hit or miss when trying to pinpoint which app(s) may be causing problems, but well worth it once those have been identified.
Another reason why a phone may suffer major lag is due to lack of RAM.  As we install more and more apps on our phones, the available resources are also reduced.  Once you reach a point where there are so many apps installed, the last thing you should do is install more.
So, lag is primarily caused by either or both of the reasons I've mentioned.
With that said, I've thoroughly enjoyed my Razr Maxx over the past 2+ years but for me it's really time to upgrade - primarily because I prefer more RAM as well as a bigger screen and a better camera.  I pre-ordered a new phone (with 3GB RAM, 5.5 inch display, and a 2.5GHz processor) last Thursday, and I expect to receive it by the end of this week once it is officially available and released to ship by Thursday the 17th.  Enjoy your Razr Maxx...I've certainly enjoyed mine.

  • DROID RAZR MAXX HD will not update to Android 4.4.2

    Hello, All.
I am trying to figure out why my phone will not update to the newest version of Android or how to resolve this issue.
    Here are my specs:
    System version: 9.18.94.XT926.Verizon.en.US
Model number: DROID RAZR MAXX HD
    Android version: 4.1.2
    Baseband version: VANQUISH_BQ_100730.151.64.17P
    Kernel version: 3.1.31-gef7deb8
    Build number: 9.8.1Q-94
Build date: Wed Sep 25 15:13:00 CDT 2013
Here's the issue. I get the notification to update to KitKat (4.4.2) and so I download the update and press the install. It reboots my phone and starts the update. It gets to about halfway when the little Android animation falls on its side and displays a red triangle above him. My phone reboots again and when it loads, it shows a message saying that the update failed. There is no more information - just that it failed.
Is anyone out there having the same problem I am having? I've searched the Internet at no avail. All I've found are issues after the update.
Is there another way of updating my system that I don't know about? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

        Sharon ,
Thank you for giving that a try. A factory data reset would be the next step. I know you are hesitant to do this, but we can make it easier to restore the phone after it is erased. Do you happen to use Verizon Cloud? It's a great app that you can download from the Play Store and it'll save all of your contacts, pictures, videos, music and documents. If you do not recall your Gmail address and password please take note of them before doing the reset. Then, follow these steps http://vz.to/1hdnWdK to reset your phone. Often times doing this after a software update will resolve any issues you're having.

  • DROID RAZR MAXX Issue, Screen Issue

My one month old Droid Razr Maxx, has encountered an issue and is useless exept to tell the time. I was trying to change my wallpaper when the phone became very slow and laggy. The screen then flickered a little and went black. Next, it rebooted and then the home screen went black, except for the status bar which looks normal but will not drop down. Once the screen goes black from inactivity (even trying to press the touch keys produces no effect), pressing the screen unlock button will not turn the screen on. The screen will only turn on when connected to a charger. I had recently downloaded the gallery lock app (Morrison Smart Software), which seems to have mostly good reviews. I have performed 3 or 4 hard resets thus far. I need help fixing my phone. I can't remove the battery on this phone, and then screen isn't working correctly so I can't do a factory reset.

Can you boot into SAFE MODE ??  You can also UNINSTALL that Gallery Lock APP from the online Android Market (PLAY).
    Safe mode:
    - Power Off
    - Power On
    - Press & HOLD both up & down volume buttons at the same time -- for like 3 mins while it boots up. Keep holding these down!
    - Phone should eventually come up and say SAFE MODE in lower left corner ..
Does THAT work???  If so, see if that app is in your APP drawer and try to uninstall it.
If that doesn't work, you can boot into the Maintenance Menu using a similar procedure that can get you to the ability to do a Factory Reset, if that's what you want to do.
    let us know.

  • Verizon Edge????  What will be the stipulations.  & Major issue w/ Razr Maxx HD

Let me explain why I am wondering about this at this point and the problems I am having.  I am wondering and hoping to get some concrete info on the new edge plan.  I am on my third refurb warranty replacement phone.  I am sick and tired of it at this point.  This third phone is a Razr Maxx HD and of course the first week it starts acting up.  I get the following icons either one or all at the same time:  sim card icon, a no smoking type circle thing over the signal bars, and then that will turn into a red triangle with a white plus sign.  A month and a half later and 3 sims card later, I still have no idea at any given moment when I can actually use my phone.  Even motorola said if the third sims card does the same thing then it has something to do in the sims card slot. Believe me, i have went round and round with customer service about this.  I'm so sick of this situation at this point I would like to trade for a different phone but it seems that not an option at this point.  So it's either get another refurb Razr Maxx HD or buy a Note 2 at $700 all up front to keep my unlimited data.  Now I have an old Alltel plan with a limited amount of minutes which is enough for us but we have unlimited text and UNLIMITED DATA.  Now the only way to keep this is to purchase a phone at full retail.  I was already to upgrade my plan and get a Note 2 at the discounted price but I just cant give up my unlimited data I don't think....I mean 10 gb of data with three phone is almost the same price as I pay now with unlimited data.  It's a little bit more but come on its unlimited data.  AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!  We have been averaging 6 gb approx but still get a Note 2 and I see my usage going up.  April I used over 6 myself (daggone Pandora radio lol).  Ok what I need to know is how this new program is going to work exactly.  I know you are supposed to be able to purchase a new device at full retail price with no contract and make payments on it over a 24 month period.  Then after 6 months and only if you have paid half of what the device cost on full retail, you would be able to purchase another device.  My issue comes in at ... should I wait till this program goes live Aug. 25th to get a Note 2, get one now at full retail (but its $700) all up front, or just get another refurb Razr Maxx HD for now.  Plus I heard the Note 3 is coming this fall but I'm not holding my breather about it.  I would like to know more specifics about the New Edge plan especially if they will allow us on unlimited data plans to keep keep it if we use this program.  Can someone please help?

B33 I have read your links thank you for the time.  So it does seem Verizon will not let us unlimited data users to take advantage of the Edge program.  Nor do I believe it is good anyway.  I see people selling their phones for 2 and 3 times as much as what the trade in program gives you anyway right now.  So if you have to trade your phone back in definitely not coming out ahead to me anyway.  I am not one to want to trade every 6 months to a year anyway unless my phone has just crapped out on me.
As far as the update, I have already ran the update and it did nothing to help my phone.  According to Motorola it is something inside of the sims card slot messed up.  It was still doing after I ran the update.  I never know when I can and can't use my phone.
I was all ready to go get a Note 2 but do not want to lose the unlimited date even if we only use 6 gb combined right now.  You never know when you will start using more esp if I got the Note 2.  But...I hate to try and put out $700 right now.  And I do not know how it is handled if I buy one off of EBAY even if the one I buy is new. So I am in between a rock and a hard place.  My contact at my store thinks I should get another refurb and wait out till more details come out about this program to see if it will help me.  Any additional advice is wanted and appreciated.

  • Bluetooth Issue with Droid Razr Maxx

I have had my Razr Maxx for about 3 weeks. From the jump I have had problems playing music thru several bluetooth devices. It will play fine for a few minutes, then music will start stuttering(dropping in and out) and continue to do so. Music plays fine when playing thru the phone speaker or wired headphones, but fails when using bluetooth.  I called in, and they sent me another phone, and the same problem is occurring with the new one. I'm figuring its a software issue, bc I had no problems with my Droid X. Is anyone else having this problem?? I probably listen to music just as much as I talk on the phone and this is def. frustrating.

  • RAZR / RAZR MAXX Helpful Tips..

    Tip No. 1 Battery Tips..
    https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/product_page/faqs/p/30,6720,8417
Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles and will naturally degrade over time. You've probably experienced this with other battery-powered products - you find yourself charging the battery more often as the charge just doesn't seem to hold as often as it once did. Eventually, you may need to replace the internal battery.
There are a couple of things you can do before replacing the battery. Sometimes it's a matter of changing a few settings that will ensure you're getting all the power you can from your battery. Motorola Customer Service can help you with this process over the phone.
    Before you call:
We recommend that you completely deplete the battery by allowing the device to completely shut down when the battery has depleted.
Once your product shuts down, plug it into the charger that came in the original box, and allow it to charge to 100%.
Once you've completed this charging cycle, call Motorola Support at 800-734-5870, and the team will diagnose your battery, and recommend setting changes or actions. If your battery does need to be replaced, we offer two battery replacement options:
The battery only replacement program lets you send your product to Motorola so that we can replace the battery and return the device back to you. If your device is within the warranty period there is no charge for this service. If your device is outside of the warranty period, the cost of this service is $49 plus applicable taxes.
You can expect to receive the device back approximately 5 business days from the time we receive the device.  Use our online repair submission process to get going.
With the expedited battery replacement program, for an extra charge we'll provide you with a FedEx label to return your product. If your device is within the warranty period the charge for this service is $19 plus applicable taxes. If your device is outside of the warranty period, the cost of this service is $69 plus applicable taxes.
You can expect to receive the device back 3 days after we receive the unit.  Use our online repair submission process to get going.

Things you should know about your battery
This product uses a non-removable battery. The battery should only be replaced by a Motorola-approved service facility. Any attempt to remove or replace your battery may damage the product.
The DROID RAZR MAXX is feature-rich and can run a virtually limitless number of applications, making it useful for many tasks. Your particular usage will affect how long you can go before recharging your battery.  Playing games, running applications, and surfing the Web increase the power use of the computer-like functions of the DROID RAZR MAXX. Calling and texting utilize its phone functions.  Depending on your use mix, time between charges will vary. We know you want to use the device to its fullest and offer you these tips to help you get the most from your phone while going as long as possible between charges.
New batteries are not fully charged. Plug the battery charger into your phone and an electrical outlet. Your phone might take several seconds to start charging the battery. Charging time from 0% takes approx. 5.5 hours.
    Tips:
It is recomended to use a wall charger to charge the phone instead of USB cable plugged in to a computer.
It may take several charging cycles for your battery to reach optimum performance.
If your device is completely discharged, it may take several minutes for the device to begin charging.
Ensure you are using a Motorola specific charger. Other chargers might take longer to charge your battery, or cause your calls to fail during charging.
    Tips to extend battery life:
During initial set up of your Google and social networking account, your phone's battery may drain faster than usual due to the amount of data transferred. After the initial sync, and a few charging cycles, your battery will reach its maximum capacity. We strongly recommend to keep the phone attached to the charger during the initial sync.
See where you power is going: Tap Home > Menu >  Settings > Battery information > Battery use.
When setting the phone down after use, quickly press the power key to invoke a blank screen. Selecting a shorter back light duration will also help conserve power by blanking the screen when not in use.
Lower the display brightness. Set Brightness to Automatic or low: Tap Home > Settings > Display >Brightness
Set Screen timeout to 1 minute or less: Tap Home > Settings > Display > Screen Timeout
Turn animation off: Tap Home > Settings > Display > Animation > No animation
Turn off GPS when not in use. Active GPS can take a lot of power. Exit from navigation apps when not in use. Tap Menu > Settings > Location & Security > Use GPS satellites and Use wireless networks uncheck.
Turn WiFi off when not in use : Tap Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Uncheck Wi-Fi
Turn Bluetooth off when not in use: Tap Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Uncheck Bluetooth
Applications which uses battery power: Certain streaming Music, Music Players, Talk, Video Chat, Navigation, Weather, and Map apps. widgets and live wallpapers, are notorious battery drainers. In addition certain Facebook, Twitter, Email and other apps that constantly sync over the internet can reduce your battery life. We recommend you use the Motorola task manager application. Task Managers let you monitor how apps use memory and processing power and identify apps that are using too many resources.
Reboot your phone If you are getting only a few hours of battery life or your phone is running slow, it is probably not your phone. An app or widget is probably the cause. Restart your phone to clear background apps: Press and hold the power button > Tap Power off. Then turn the phone back on. Daily reboots can help keep rogue apps from taking battery life.
Use the AC adapter to charge your phone whenever possible.
Toggle Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS on or off as needed. These can be placed on your desktop by selecting an open area of your screen and selecting them. individually or using the Android Power Control Widget.
Clear all notifications from the notification bar as much as possible.
Ensure you do not have have duplicate email accounts. Duplicate email account will drain battery life. To check for duplicate email accounts, touch > My Accounts > Advanced set up and ensure there are no duplicates. To remove an account, touch the account > Menu > Remove account.
We suggest charging each night so you start the day fully charged and ready to go!
    Tip No.2  Screen Lock..
    https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/86349/p/30,6720,8417
How does my screen lock and unlock features work with the Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) upgrade?
With Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) your device now has several different lock options available.
To access your lock options, touch   > Settings > Security.
    Screen Lock Options
Slide - provides no protection, but lets you get to the Home screen quickly, or open Camera and start taking pictures immediately.
Face Unlock - lets you unlock your phone by looking at it. This is the least secure lock option.
Pattern - lets you draw a simple pattern with your finger to unlock the phone. This is slightly more secure than Face Unlock.

  • RAZR MAXX drops calls "on command" and randomly

I have a RAZR MAXX (two months old). If I use my Plantronics Pro HD Bluetooth device, the phone will suddenly drops a phone call without any reason. If I don't use the BT device and use only the phone/speaker, everything is working fine. The same goes if I connect another BT device as well as a wired earpiece. It suddenly gives the loud beep in the ear and the call gets disconnected. This happens 2-3 times per day out of 40 phone calls.
My boss has a RAZR MAXX as well, and he has the same identical problem... only today, he was able to "make" the phone drop the call by simply placing the phone back into the holster. He uses only a wired earpiece and the call would drop ONLY when the earpiece is connected. We tried a phone call by having the conversation on the speaker, and he was able to place the phone into the holster without any problem... the moment he connected the earpiece plug to the phone, I got the beep and the call got disconnected.
Can ANYONE confirm or had any experience with this crap?

You are absolutely correct. The person who deleted my posts AND his own post which made no sense whatsoever to the initial question I posted, is probably reading this post with interest, as I'm reporting this incident to Verizon's Admins.
Here is what my boss discovered in the last few days since I posted the question:
    1. Him and I use a leather holster with a latching magnets to close the flap. When he placed his phone in the holster while on call, and closes the flap, the call gets disconnected... but ONLY if his $50 wired (forget Bluetooth for a moment) is connected to the phone. He now uses a piece of Velcro (ugly but works) to hold the phone in the holster. When the flap is open, he can use the phone WITH the wired earpiece without a problem. There is no question it is a design issue of the phone.
    2. In my case, the fist call of the day today, which I used the speaker option, not even my BT, the call was disconnected after 3 seconds... It is definitely the phone. This is without turning the BT ON...
So far, the only way MY phone is working properly as a phone is when I bring it close to my head and talk... For free cancer catalyst I can go out to the desert and enjoy the sun... The phone is a pain AS A PHONE.
    3. I know for sure it is NOT Verizon. I'm with the company for year and used BlackBerries until the RAZR MAXX... Maybe I'll need a PHONE phone AND and RAZR MAXX as a data device... so why did I buy the tablet?....
So far, only by playing with the phone things work... But I don't have time to play with the phone every day just to make some calls and mainly to receive many calls....
