Boot Camp 2.1 Vista 32 no audio after install

Hi,
I recently installed the boot camp 2.1 update on my mbp 2.4, for windows vista. Everything went fine expect for one problem, I have no audio.
I can't see anything wrong in device manager, and the icon is still present in the task bar. It's not muted. I don't know what else to try.
Any ideas?

I just rolled back to the previous audio driver and sound came back on my MacBook Pro.

All the drives other than the one with XP will need to be pulled.
Always have backups of your system, clone that you can boot from.
Boot Camp 3.0 was the last supported. You don't need OEM 10.4.6 DVD and your system with EFI and SMC updates (Aug/Sept 2007) may not like it.
32-bit version of Windows on EFI-32 will only get 1.9GB RAM.
Installing 64-bit Windows 7 is a bit harder. Vista pre-SP1 64-bit was the best match for install on my 1,1 and that was 2006-2007.
The new owner needs to deal with this, not you. And really they are better off with a $400 PC instead. Or use a VM.
the owner should put in a new SSD for the system and $44 buys 4 x 2GB RAM. Together it will run just fine. 500GB SSD now $250 / $135 250GB. Biggest issue is a video card on these.
The grey screen - you upgraded the graphic card perhaps.
Unplug everything. Hit power for 5-10 seconds. Reconnect cables for mouse/kb and power, and monitor. You just reset SMC. Yes there is a small button - pull drive #4 and any controller in top slot #4 to see the SMC motherboard reset button but you don't need to.
Any PCIe cards can also play a role and factor into XP or Windows not working.

Do they still have audio in iTunes? Then, try using iTunes to "convert" them to iPhone-compatible format.

Boot Camp Partition & Windows Vista - Disk format Problems

When Boot camp partitions the disk (I chose 25gb) it automatically formatted it as FAT32. However, when installing Vista, it says that it requires the disk to be formatted as NTFS.
The Boot camp instructions says I should be given the option which format to use, but no option came up. I don't want to partition more than 32gb.
How do I get Boot camp to format the partition correctly?

Read the instructions that come with Leopard Boot Camp. The partition is automatically formatted at FAT32. However, it's a) not bootable (Windows has to do that) and b) Vista requires NTFS. That means once you're in the Vista installer you need to REFORMAT the partition. Select the partition, and then click, umm, disk options I think. Then reformat the drive. If you do that you should be able to continue.

Boot camp Software in vista x64

I am running vista x64 on a 1.1 Mac Pro. The OS runs just fine but I would like to have all of the boot camp software running. Is there anyway to do this?

If you have 10.5.6 DVD, you can install some non Apple Boot Camp drivers. You actually need the set that came with the 2008 Mac Pros.
OSSwitcher and TimeServices are the only real items I can think of you would not have.
Or wait for Windows 7 - you can download it today - and hope.

Boot Camp Mac Pro Vista 32 / 64 Nvidia 7300GT Maya / OpenGL apps freeze?

I have successfully installed Vista 32 and 64 in addition to OSX. I have the latest BootCamp install. (which should not matter) I have installed the latest Nvidia drivers for the 7300GT in both 32 and 64. Whenever I try and launch any openGL application (tried Maya, Mudbox, Realflow so far) they all just freeze on startup. I can play DirectX games just fine. I have tried everything, including re-arranging my RAM, changing every Nvidia setting (exhaustive searches on other forums). I have a Mac Pro (quad core), 5GB RAM, two SATA partitions on the primary drive, and a dedicated drive for Vista 64. BTW - I was having the same problem in Vista 32 as well before I decided to try installing Vista 64. This seems to be a very strange issue, since undoubtedly the Apple team would have tested at least a single openGL app before qualifying Vista for boot camp.
I have already installed the latest EFI update, and when I try and install the update to Nvidia firmware OSX in it's verbose glory tells me "you do not need this update".
BTW - when I install Vista 64, BEFORE I install the Nvidia drivers (using Microsoft Nvidia drivers), I can load Maya just fine. Although, it is not very responsive, which defeats the purpose.

I think it is a shame you don't have the X1900, though. Or 8800 which only works under Windows but interferes with OS X even booting. (I have 8600 which doesn't work in OS X but at least does work in Vista).
Only Business and Ultimate support dual cpus. And only x64 supports 5GB. 32-bit SP1 will see all 5GB but not sure how much it uses. Otherwise, Mac Pro + Vista 32-bit supports 1.9GB RAM - which is paltry.
Does Maya system requirements show the 7300?

I just attempt to install Vista x64 on my MacBook, unfortunately unsuccessfully, first of all, when I purchased my MacBook back in the days I've had small problem even with Vista 32 bit, when after installation of Vista, it freezes all the way at the end and I even took to Apple store but their "Genies" refused helping me as he said this is "Microsoft" and you need to contact Microsoft not Apple for that, I'm on the other end think that this isn't Microsoft but whatever, the "workaround" here is to hit power button let it shutdown and then start it and it goes right into Windows as there is no problem... back to Boot Camp issue, after Windows is installed I went and download recent version of BootCamp 2.1 for Windows Vista 64 (http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/bootcampupdate21forwindowsvista64.html) yet, whenever I run it, it saying that it needs Administrative rights to run it, I click "Ok/Continue" to grant it, and after this nothing happens... I tried to install Boot Camp drivers that came on DVD with Leopard, they start installing vs 2.1 where they just don’t, yet during installation process, I get several errors that I have to hit "Ignore"... it' like Apple takes it after Microsoft whenever it comes to Windows stuff, THEY DON’T TEST DRIVERS AT ALL!
Anyone else had this issue? Or knows what to do with it?

My Mac is now running Vista 64-bit properly.
I had install BC 2.1 32-bit because I couldn't get 64-bit to run and I had used what was on the retail Leopard DVD.
I was going to uninstall BootCamp but I had just done Complete Backup, so I went ahead, and installed torrent, Apple update tried and failed to install 2.1 64-bit so I used the standalone installer and that went 100% which is a first, no errors. Has the BootCamp tray item, BC control panel, and when I turn on the UPS, it no longer auto boots. It waits for power button.
Leopard 10.5.0 DVDs sure look like they need to be updated, and why not put BC 2.01 or even 2.1 out in a full install? That would bypass needing Leopard. Weird. I've never used torrent before except for linux ISO and I held off as long as I could. I was also ready to throw in the towel, too!

Manually Removing Boot Camp Software From Vista?

I accidentally deployed Boot Camp to the wrong machine, installing it onto a desktop PC instead of a Mac running Windows. The machine is running Vista Home Premium SP1. Now when I try to uninstall it it won't uninstall. I was able to uninstall the drivers, but I can't get Boot Camp Services to remove. I was able to delete the Boot Camp folder from Program files to remove the taskbar app, but the Boot Camp Control Panel is still installed, as well as it's still showing up in add/remove programs.
Does anyone know what registry key I need to delete in order to remove the entry in add/remove programs, & where is the control panel file located so I can delete it? If I manually delete these two things, Boot Camp will successfully be uninstalled from this machine.
I know I made an ignoramis mistake, & wish I would have double-checked the machine before deployment.

FIXED IT! After inserting my OS X CD, finagling around in Windows Update & Add/Remove Programs, IT'S GONE! All fixed now!
Now I just need to watch my deployment much more carefully.

How can I get MagicTrackpad to work with Boot Camp and Windows Vista?

Just installed Lion and then installed Magic Trackpad. Now I need to know how to get the Magic Tackpad to work with Windows Vista in my Boot Camp partition. Windows Bluetooth recognizes the Magic Trackpad but it says the device won't confirm the passkey. No passkey came with the Magic Trackpad and the option to not use a passkey still doesn't achieve connection with Windows. Suggestions/ comments, please.

Just completed several lengthy sessions with Apple Tech Support (escalated to excellent Sr. Advisor). Bottom line is that there seems to be no answer to the problem of the Magic Trackpad not being able to maintain its pairing/connection with Windows (Vista in my case) or OS X (10.7 in my case) when switching Boot Camp partitions. In fact, when trying to re-pair it is necessary to remove the MTP batteries first. To pair at all with Windows requires the use of the Bluetooth passkey "0000" (not provided in MTP documentation). This achieves limited MTP/Windows functionality (cursor and "click" control only - with BC 3.1. BC 3.2 is supposed to provide more gestures, but I have not gotten there yet). Appears that when switching back to OS X, that passkey has remained with the MTP and is not what OS X is looking for, so it fails the connection. Removing/replacing the batteries probably dumps the passkey and allows the OS X connection. The Sr. Advisor says he sees this issue often (including with Windows 7) in their internal chat rooms, but no solution. He will be referring it to the engineers and will let me know the outcome. Meantime, assuming I keep the MTP, I'll have to resign myself to using a wired mouse when going to Windows (not a huge inconvenience, since it's only for Quicken; but the issue is worse than "in-elegant" for Apple!
I am satisfied that I have obtained the best possible help from Apple on this issue. If anybody has more, please reply.

New MBP, Boot Camp 2.1, Vista=Missing Wifi

I have just installed Vista Ultimate via Boot Camp, but I cannot find my WiFi card at all. Is there something that I am missing. There are no issues when I switch back to OSX.

Did you install the Boot Camp 2.0 hardware drivers for Windows? If you have not then WiFi will not work along with some keyboard functions including ejecting a disk.
What you will need to do is to boot into Windows desktop and then insert the Leopard Installation Disk in the drive. This will automatically begin installation of the Boot Camp 2.0 drivers and then all your hardware should work.

Boot camp 5 is not support for audio and mice in windows 8.1

i upgrade to windows 8.1, but, no audio and mice is not working properly. i used boot camp 5. any one can help.

Windows 8.1 x64 RTM is running without any problems on MacBook Pro 13" i7 16GB Memory as I upgraded last week.
If you are using the Beta version of Windows 8.1 I suggest you wait until it is available to the General Public on October 17.
If you have the RTM (I am a Microsoft Partner) then just install and then run the Windows Support Software for Bootcamp 5 and the proper drivers will be installed.

Boot Camp won't update, no Bluetooth, can't install drivers, see OS X DVD

I have a client who has a whole mess:
Mac Mini Core2Duo running Leopard 10.5.6
Boot Camp 1.4 Beta
Vista
Inserting the OS X DVD produces nothing, can't see it, can't open it, can't install drivers from OS X Install Disc 1.
Can't update Boot Camp to 2.1 (update never executes no matter how long you wait after dblclick)
No Bluetooth in Vista, anywhere. Mighty Mouse somehow works but no scrolling with the ball.
Won't run Apple Bluetooth Installer.exe
My only recommendation at this point is to delete the Windows partition and start from scratch, and put XP back on instead of Vista, hoping that we'll be able to update Boot Camp to 2.1 and put the drivers on from the OS X Install Disc 1 that came with the Mini. This is fairly difficult to explain or even comprehend on my part, and I've been doing this for decades.
Anybody have a hint for me?

Oh nevermind. I was doing this via remote and as it works out, some people don't know if they have Leopard or Tiger.

You keep it on the usb stick for after you boot into Windows. From Windows you install the Windows Support software on the stick. Do you realize that you need to buy and install Windows? The Windows Support software you downloaded is only the Windows drivers for your hardware.
