Boot Camp 3.1 for Windows 7

Greetings,
I have an iMac late 2009 with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor running at 3.06 GHz and 4 GB RAM. It has a Graphics/Display ATI Radeon HD 4850 with 512MB.
My question is: Does Boot Camp 3.1 for Windows 7 have the necessary drivers to correctly run the Graphics/Display ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB card?
I have read in these Discussion Groups that people are having problems with their monitor display after loading Windows 7 on their iMac.
Thanks in advance for your help and support.
Leigh

No, I wouldn't say 3.1 has the necessary drivers, it is still about 6 months out of date. But you can get drivers from ATI.
its NOT a desktop card, its a modified laptop card, but installing mac drivers makes windows THINK its a full desktop card, and running the original 8.681 driver crashed it.
The fix:
The latest 10.6 Catalyst will work, but you have to uninstall drivers/program first and then let Windows reinstall its device, then ATI.
I read that people were having to use mobility graphics to get Windows to recognize the card properly.

I wish people could jump past 3.0 directly to some future 3.2 and avoid the mess but it is doable.
You may need to boot Windows in Safe Mode, though you can't uninstall programs or install new drivers.

You can't. It is included with a version of OS X. and to my knowledge for Win 7 you need BC 4. Which should already be installed.

It is difficult to understand your issue from your discription. I have three suggestions.
    1. Visit the Boot Camp forum. You posted in the Mac Book Pro forum about your Boot Camp issue. The Boot Camp gurus hang out in the Boot Camp form. https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp
    2. Read the Boot Camp installation guide. http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.7.pdf
    3. Do not post personal information such as phone numbers in public forums.

  • Recommended Boot Camp Partition Size for Windows XP

    All,
What size is recommended for a Windows XP Boot Camp Partition? 100Gb? 50Gb?
Main use is to run a few programs that are not available for Mac. Most everything else will be transferred over.
    Thanks

Depending on the programs you want to install, you can get by with very little. I have virtual XP systems that live within 8GB virtual disks. If you've got the drive space, go for ~30GB. I've found that to be a nice size for running Windows 7 within, and thus you likely won't have to mess with re-partitioning should you update the OS in the future.

  • Boot Camp 5.1 for Windows 7 driver setup file missing

I am not sure if I am only one here. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bits, and I just followed Apple instruction on Boot Camp 5.1 and got all the files for drivers on USB (came with 16gb, 3.0) and it was setting up smoothly till boot into Windows 7 setup on macbook pro, and then it says can't find drivers, so I manually open folders in this USB and it show files list, and I also opened the file that I downloaded from Apple (Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621) then plug in Windows on mac, and they picked up the USB and all those files, however I don't see any "setup.exe" anywhere. Is there missing file or something?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Ok, I have spend more time investigate and found that "setup.exe" was already in download from Apple. However when I moved to USB and plug in macbook and then install the Windows 7 then it asked for driver, and I was able to find my USB and when I opened the folder, it wasn't in there at all. no setup.exe or anything else in it.
Any one could help me get Windows 7 install on my macbook please? I need it for my new job where they required use Internet Explorer.
    Thanks,

  • Mac Pro/Boot Camp - inf files for Windows XP & Apple 23¨ cinema displays

have a Mac pro with the ATI video card. I have installed Boot Camp 1.1 and can boot to win XP or Mac ok when I use a dell monitor for win xp. If I use the apple displays, the screen often doesn't turn on at all - just black screen though it has booted to win XP as I can type in my password and hear it log in. If I boot to Mac and then change to Win, it sometimes displays Win XP OK. However, when it does do that, it dosn't recognise the Apple Display - rather it is a plug and play monitor with lousy resolution. Are there .inf files for the Apple Displays to work properly on XP?

    Try WinAcd <http://sourceforge.net/projects/winacd/>

  • How to enable right click and taping in Boot Camp 3.1 for Windows XP SP3?

I have my MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 running on it...finally could instal Boot Camp 3.0 and then updated to 3.1 in Windows XP SP3.
The trackpad recognizes only left click and do not recognize taping! What to do?

Check the Driver folder on the Boot Camp Driver Support DVD, or CD, you made.
Look in the Apple folder under Drivers. It is called AppleMultiTouchTrackPadInstaller.exe
That should install a Control Panel Applet.
    EDIT:
There is another in that folder called AppleTrackPadInstaller.exe

  • Upgrading to Mavericks from 10.6.8 with boot camp partition already for Windows 7

    Hello,
    I have a 2011 27" iMac/16GB ram/1TB HD on OS X 10.6.8
I did upgrade it to 10.7 but it changed too much stuff I did not like, so it was a nightmare to get back to 10.6.8
Anyway, I have a partition on there with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit that when I need to I boot into that partition.
I use a program called reFIT when my machine first turns on to select with one, works well as it is a EFI partition tool but no longer developed.
So regardless of the reFIT program if I upgrade to Mavericks will it screw up my Windows partition?
I have the Windows 7 disc/image so it's not a big thing but I don't want to spend days trying to make something work if it screws up what WORKS now.
You know the old saying, if it's not broke, don't fix it.......
    any input would be appreciated
    thanks
    philmiami

The short answer is that it may, so keep that image available.

  • Should I Use Boot Camp or Parallels for use of a Windows Desktop?

    I am migrating from a PC to a Mac; I want to take advantage of having a Windows desktop to run some apps until i buy Mac equivalent software;
    I have Tiger, but am installing Leopard this weekend;
Should I Use Boot Camp or Parallels for use of a Windows Desktop?
I am tempted by not having to reboot, but i don't want my mac to slow down?
I am a photographer and use Photoshop and other graphics intensive programs.

    Hi,
to achieve full computing power while in Windows you have to use BootCamp and for Photoshop and other apps of that caliber in Windows its the best.
For apps less demanding using Parallels (VMWare Fusion) is sufficient enough and the slight downgrade in speed is negligible.
You should however (if not already done) max out the RAM of your Mac.

  • When I begin to attempt to download the windows support software in boot camp, it says the windows support software is unavailable. Is there any other place I can download it for a Macbook Pro 5,5 intel core 2 duo without the original CD?

When I begin to attempt to download the windows support software in boot camp, it says the windows support software is unavailable. Is there any other place I can download it for a Macbook Pro 5,5 intel core 2 duo with snow leopard without the original CD?

    Hi,
apart from the MacBook Air this feature is of no use for other Macs right now.
Simply ingnore it (click "I already have the Drivers...) and continue with the installation.
Sorry to say but you need the OSX Install DVD for the BootCamp Driver installation.
The 3.0 version of the BootCamp Drivers is only avaiable on the disc.
Later updates (3.1 and 3.2) can be downloaded from Apples Support website.
Call Apple and ask for a replacement and they usually send you one for a small fee.
And have the Serial-Number of your Mac at hand when calling.
And since the OSX Install DVD can also be vital for maintenance and repair it is best to have one.
The needed BootCamp Drivers are on the OSX Install DVD 1 that came with your Mac.
Insert that disc while in Windows after the Windows installation to install the drivers.

  • What is the correct boot camp support driver for late 2009 Macbook for windows 8.1

I have late 2009 Macbook with OS X 10.9.4.  I want to run boot camp for windows 8.1, but unable to due to the fact that it can only run Windows 7.  What is the correct Boot Camp Support Software so that I can run Windows 8.1?

Thanks for the info, but unfortunately there is no current support software or update for my issue at this time.  I found the information under Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating system.  Hopefully Apple will fix this issue promptly!

  • Boot camp assistance to install windows 8

im using a macbook pro 13-inch late 2011 with mac os x 10.7.2 which has bootcamp 4.i want to install 64-bit windows 8 on my mac.i found out you need boot camp 5 to install it.can i install windows 8 on bootcamp 4 and then update to boot camp 5 when running windows?or do i have to update to bootcamp 5 beforehand?if so,how do i do that?

From Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems
    Requirements for all Windows installations
In order to install Microsoft Windows using Boot Camp, you need the following:
    An Internet connection
An administrator account in OS X to use Boot Camp Assistant
The keyboard and mouse or trackpad that came with your Mac (If they aren’t available, use a USB keyboard and mouse)
A minimum of 2 GB of RAM, 30 GB of free disk space are recommended if you are installing Windows for the first time, or 40 GB of free disk space if you are upgrading from a previous version of Windows
An authentic Microsoft Windows full install disc or ISO file
A built-in optical drive, or a compatible external optical drive is required if you are using an install disc
8 GB USB storage device, or external drive formatted as MS-DOS (FAT) to install the downloaded drivers

  • I have a mac book pro with Boot Camp that also runs windows.  I upgraded to Lion and somehow it crashes the mac side peridoically.  I am told I need to "clean" it and reinstall lion using the recovery drive.  will that delete the windows partition too??

I have a mac book pro with Boot Camp that also runs windows.  I upgraded to Lion and now the mac side crashes/freezes periodically, especially iphoto.  I am told by the genius' that I probably need to "clean" it and reinstall lion using the "recovery drive" which resets everything back to default and reinstalls the lion operating system.  My question is will this also delete the "windows" partition drive and all that data too.  If so that will be a huge pain in the ___ to back up and reinstall boot camp and windows. I want to shoot the lion.

There is no system like Acronis for the Mac platform. You can try using the buiilt in Disk Utility to create an Image of the complete Mac drive but I have found that this does not work very well as on tryiing to restore it gives errors sometimes.
You can use SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner to create a bootable Clone of your system partition. But that is only for the System partition and not the complete drive.
If you use Boot Camp to install Windows on your Mac neither of those two programs will clone the Windows side.
Neither will Disk utility as Mac's can not create or write to a NTFS partition. So some other program is need for that.
