Boot camp asking for windows installer update

I cannot load the osx dvd because it prompts me to update my windows installer. You can click no or update. No closes the whole thing and update gives me an error. Anyone able to help?

Hi afrobat,
you probably need something like this (download from net).
For winXP 32bit ="WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe"
for win7 32+64bit ="Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-x86.msu"
"Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-x64.msu"
These are windows applications so install with-in winOS.
They are "Windows Installer 4.5"

  • Cannot get Boot Camp drivers (for Windows XP) installed

I've partitioned my Time Machine HD for the 32GB/FAT format of Windows XP/Home Edition w/SP2. The installation of Windows proceeded OK. However, after installing Windows, ejecting the W-Install disc, and inserting my MAC OS X Leopard disc, the "setup.exe" file does not open. If I start up in Windows, I cannot open the Opt. Disc drawer since the BC drivers are not installed; if I insert the OS X disc in the drawer, then restart in Windows, the "setup.exe." file does not open.
Where do I go from here to install the Boot Camp drivers for Windows? These drivers are needed for 'normal' Windows operation, and are required in order to install the Boot Camp update. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi David,
while you are in Windows and have the Leopard DVD inserted, can you access the content of it using the Windows Explorer ?
or maybe this hint on MacOSXHints can help you access the Windows Content of your Leopard DVD while in OSX http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20080708145453136
If so, you can try to copy the Windows Content onto a USB Memory Stick and use it to install the drivers.
    Good Luck

  • Unable to install Boot Camp Drivers for Windows

Mac Pro (2) 3.2 Xeon quads
    Mac OS 10.5.2
Boot Camp side - Windows XP pro x64 w/SP2
Step 3 listed in the instructions for setting up Boot Camp is to Install the Boot Camp drivers for Windows. At this point Windows recognizes my Mac Install disk 1. I get the following message: "the installer encountered errors before Boot Camp could be configured. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again." I am not sure if I needed to do something to install the Service Pack 2? My firmware is at MP31.006C.B02 and 1.25f4. When I checked for the latest firmware, it returned a message that it was not necessary.
Maybe the XP pro x64 is not compatible?

When trying to install boot camp drivers, a message came up saying:
Boot Camp requires that your computer is running Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista.
The only option it gave me was to click the "OK" button. When I clicked OK , another message came up saying:
Boot Camp Installer completed. The install encountered errors before Boot Camp could be configured. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again. Click "finish" to exit installer. I am running a brand new full retail version of windows xp service pack 2. Applecare will not help blaming Microsoft and of course Microsoft is blaming Apple. What a bunch of useless crap!! Can anyone help??

I am trying to instal windows 7 on my MacBook Pro thru Boot Camp. Does anyone know where I can download the Boot Camp drivers for windows. I can't find them on the apple website and I don't have my Mac OS X instal DVD with me.
    Thank you

Only if you don't mind a Windows system lacking most features and thus beaing nearly unuseable.
Applying the appropriate drivers for hardware support is a must for all operating systems.

  • Boot camp cant find windows installer

I'm trying to run boot camp to install Windows 7 on a partition and it can't find the Windows installer. I'm tried it from a USB and the Windows DVD, but neither works.
    It's an 2008 iMac 2.66 Ghz 4 Gig Ram, 128 SSD running 10.7.2
    Thanks!

    Ennoxx,
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by Boot Camp "can't" find window installer.  I used BC to partition my drive and create my driver DVD.  I inserted the W7 DVD and clicked install.  My Mac restarted, but it did not install W7.  I could see there was a BC partition on my hard drive so I tried to restart and at the "chime" hold the option key.  Only my Mac and Restore drives were visible.  When the computer finished restarting I inserted the W7 DVD.  I restarted again and held option at the chime.  This time the W7 disk was visible.  I selected it and everything went great.
I expected the "Windows Installer" to come up and ask to insert disk or since the disk was already in the drive to just restart in the BC partition and install it.  But, it needed a little user intervention.  This was true also for the several restarts during the install process.  Everytime I had to hold the  option key and select the Windows partition.  I suppose I could have set Windows as the default but I'm not sure.
I hope you figure it out.
    Good Luck.

  • Boot Camp Assistant for Windows XP

I want to put windows XP on a partition of my hard drive, the problem is, after I run Boot Camp Assistant, the program tells me to inster a Windows 7 Home of Professional into the computer. Unfortuantly, I only have XP, and the program does not recongize it when i put it in.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Apple has removed support for XP and Vista with the OSX Lion BootCamp.
Therefor the BootCamp Assistant (BCA) refuses to install Windows if it detects a non-Windows 7 DVD/CD.
What might/should work is to use the BCA to the point where it asks to 'Install' or to 'Close & Install later' after the BCA has created the BootCamp partition.
At this point close the BCA and check if the BootCamp partition was created.
When all looks OK, insert your XP CD and reboot your Mac while holding down the Alt/Option-key until the Boot Selection Screen.
Choose to boot from the XP CD (the icon looks like a generic disc).
After hopefully the XP installation went well insert your OSX Snow Leopard Install DVD to install the BootCamp Drivers from it.
Later updates (versions 3.1 and 3.2) can be downloaded from here http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/ either in Windows or if wanted in OSX and then put on an USB-Stick.
Making a second OSX partition on the harddisk to install Snow Leopard would render the BCA useless, since it can only work on a harddisk with one OSX volume on it.
As a last resort if the above does not work you can consider using VirtualBox and install/use XP with it in a virtualized environment.
And if you want to try the above: have/make a backup of your OSX before attempting !!!
    Hope it helps

  • Installed Boot Camp drivers for Windows 7, now black screen!

I have a question--I have a late 2009 iMac with the ATI card, followed Apple's procedure for avoiding the black screen while installing Windows 7 on the partitioned HD, and found I could not update to Boot Camp 3.1 without already having Boot Camp 3.0 from the 10.6 install disc. I inserted the disc, had to perform a workaround because it said I couldn't run 64-bit, and installed the drivers (I assume?) from Boot Camp on the 10.6 disc. When my iMac restarted the screen soon goes black. I guessed I was at the login screen, typed in my name and password, and could hear it logging into Windows--my sound works, Magic Mouse works (no scrolling), etc but no screen after booting up in Windows. Did the Boot Camp drivers from the install disc over-write something that was working? How do I fix this so I can proceed to install the 3.1 and 3.2 Boot Camp updates? Just the ATI* trick? Please help!!!

I'm sorry to take up your time guys - as I wrote earlier I'm not that technical and new to all of this - I was promised that I could do everything the mac way in the windows environment if I bought Parallels Desktop 7 - I only did this as my company is installing af new CRM system that is only supported in Windows - now I have installed everything and find out that the MAC keyboard shortcuts and layout is not working at all in i.e. Outlook etc. and I've totally forgotten how the Windows shortcuts etc. is working - Parallels asked me to go to Apple for help and here I am
You write that "if you believe it's correct do it" - but I don't believe anything else than what I'm told - I'm not going to install anything if I don't know how to do and whether it's correct - I wont have the nerve to do that.
If at least could get a list or someting on how to use my Magic Trackpad in the windows environment I would be happy - then I would just have to switch between how to use it on both sides.
Hope you understand and sorry again for taking up your valuable time

  • Boot Camp Drivers for Windows  7

    Hello...
I just installed win7 on my Mac Mini with Boot Camp Assistant, but after installing and making the setup, I was not able to install the drivers from my SL DVD. Windows 7 can't read the disc and I cannot find the program to install my drivers even if I tried to look in the contents of my DVD in win7.
I actually don't know, if I should drag in my install DVD that came with my Mini, because when I bought it, the "Tiger" was released and I have only the SL install disc 1 "burned" from my friend.
I would really appreciate if somebody would help me.
    Thanks

However, boot camp could not detect the installer disk, even though it did appear in finder.

  • Boot camp support for windows 7 /2009. Now will be released when ready 2010

Boot camp support end of year 2009 has now been revised to the following
Apple is working to support Microsoft Windows 7 (Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate) with Boot Camp in Mac OS X. This support will require a software update to Boot Camp that we plan to release as soon as it's ready.

And they ain't sayin nothin like Charlie Brown's teacher - waa waa waa waa waa.
    Actually let me translate:
"We are incompitent and inept. We are working as slow as possible given our distain for Microsoft. Even though we have the resources to develop these drivers in a few weeks, we are going to drag our feet hoping to frustrate our customers into using OS X even though half the software out there does not run on our OS. We are sorry you are a premium customer willing to pay more than anyone else for a laptop and you did so for customer service and quality. Unfortunately, we are going to totally ignore you on this issue".

  • My sound no longer works on Mac OS after installing a Boot Camp partition for Windows 7 x64.

I installed Windows 7 x64-Bit Professional Edition on my iMac Mid-2011 on Yosemite 10.10.2 through Boot Camp. I installed Windows 7 without any hitches and I proceeded to install an old PC game and I was able to run it just fine, I could here the audio perfectly. But, the next day, when I started my iMac on the Mac OS partition, the sound bar icon on the top right was greyed out. This problem began occurring after I restarted to the (original) Mac OS partition I've tried to check it out on System Preferences and Audio MIDI Setup. On Sys Prefs, it says, "No output devices found" and "No input devices found". On Audio MIDI Setup, it says,"No Devices Found on the System."When I go back to the Windows partition, I can hear audio just fine and I can even set the volume from my keyboard. I have already updated the necessary drivers on the Windows side. I've reset the PRAM and repaired the disk permissions with Disk Utility. Headphones don't work either but I can send audio through a bluetooth speaker that I have.

    Hi 0day,
unfortunately you have to have the MacOS DVD to install the Boot Camp 3 (legally).
The 3.1 and 3.2 are upgrades to that (as you found out).

  • Boot camp drivers for windows 8

Every thing works well on windows 8 install using boot camp. Even all drivers available for windows 7 work and let windows 8 function all the way. I only got struck on track pad as this is only important thing which gave away and never worked. On using wireless mouse or USB mouse one can have alternative to track pad. Fail to understand why Apple is making an issue by not releasing drivers for its crack pad which enable the machine to work in windows mode. Every time one use windows curses apple for this intentional blockage. May be Apple devices a way that people must remember them once any one uses boot camp. If Apple is so hostile to Microsoft why allow even boot camp?

    Really?
I only got struck on track pad as this is only important thing which gave away and never worked.
OK, everything did not work "all the way" then.
