Is this on OSX or Wndows Control Panel?
If you modified BCA info.plist by hand, and did not codesign it properly (see man codesign and the --deep qualifier), you will see this error.
Changing this file to allow USB creation is not very beneficial on Macs which originally came with a built-in Optical drive.

  • Boot camp, "cannot find installation disk."

What do I do? It's a Microsoft download from the MSDN Academic Alliance (Win 7 Prof. 64-bit) and I am getting this error.
I downloaded the Win 7 Prof. from Microsoft's MSDN AA site on a PC.
Opened boot campo and created the partition and the CD is visible in finder (.ISO) but boot camp says "cannot find installation disk."
So I moved the .ISO to my desktop and burned a new CD using the iMac Superdrive and receive the samer error.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Boot Camp will not install from an ISO file. You must have a bootable DVD. Whatever is on your disc image it apparently is not what is on a bootable DVD. You may simply have a .exe installer application that will only work on a Windows machine or on a pre-exisitng Windows system on a Boot Camp partition.

  • Boot camp cannot drag disk space divider

I am trying to install windows 7 on my MBA mid-11, with Boot Camp Assistent running on Mavricks.
Everything is set: one partition, Windows usb drive built by boot camp. But right at the step of dragging divider to set the disk space for windows, I cannot drag it. It only moves between 19 and 20G, and sometimes even moves to the opposite direction of my dragging. Tested trackpad three-finger gesture, worked fine on file dragging.
It's rather weird this time as I have installed win 7 once with 25G space. but I found it too small and would like to redo it with 30G space. The disk (with only the journaled MAC partition) has 38G left as indicated by the disk utility. The previous installation was removed through boot camp as well.
I don't know what to make of it.
    Any idea? Thanks.

yes it would, no matter if it is bootcamp or any other partition, it will still take up storage on the startup disk.

  • Boot Camp Cannot Partition

    I have issues.
    So here we go...
My main issue here is I cannot partion my system with Boot Camp Assistant. As far as I can tell I've followed every step correctly to this point.
    Everything is updated
I had Microsoft send me a new, full version of Windows 8 Disk to use
I purchased a new 32gb thumbdrive and formatted it correctly
I downloaded the all the Windows Support Updates to the Flash Drive
So far I can't get past this error:
For some reason I only have two options for the size of the partition:
    or
    I'm using this thumbdrive:
And this is the current state of my iMac and Storage:
I only need Windows to run a single program so I really don't need anything but the minimum here...
Any ideas on what the heck is going on?
    Thanks in advance,
    -Jared

  • Used to start up Windows 8 with Boot Camp, cannot anymore

A few weeks ago I installed Windows 8 on my MacBook Pro (running Yosemite 10.10.1) and, with enough finagling, was able to get both systems running smoothly on my laptop. It has been about a week since I last tried to run Windows, but I just spent a little while trying to start it up to no avail. The first few times, I started with a shut down computer, turned on the power button, held option to bring up my start up preference, and selected Windows 8. The screen would just go black and the hard disk seemed to be cycling between sleep and wake cycles. Eventually I manually shut it off, tried again. Repeated two or three times, same result.
Tried start up without holding option - the disk tried to launch Windows, then took me into a sort of recovery mode with a screen saying there was a problem with Windows. I explored the options it gave me (i.e. change start-up settings, reset Windows, recover Windows...) but was really unsure of what my best option was from here. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

I'll elaborate; the finagling really just involved downloading the Windows drivers provided in Boot Camp, which didn't let me have wifi in Windows, so I downloaded a different set of drivers, installed those, and all was well.
I do not have automatic OSX updates turned on.
    Those commands give me:

  • HT1338 Boot Camp  Cannot Use

I want to partition or use boot camp and have this warning:
You must update your system software before using this setup assistant.
Somebody please help me? Best regards.

Well, your system profile is rather confusing...
    Mac OS X (10.5.5), leopard
Using Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard
Since you posted in the Snow Leopard forum area, I gather that is the os that is currently installed on your computer?
Use Software Update to update your os to 10.6.8 and anything else that needs to be updated.

  • Boot camp cannot detect windows installer disk.

Hi. I wanted to install windows xp on my macbook using bootcamp. After i made a partition with boot camp assistant 3.0, i insert my windows xp disk with service pack 2 in it, and click start installation. However, boot camp could not detect the installer disk, even though it did appear in finder.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

Well, when i restarted my mac, and hold down the option key, there is only 1 choice for me to choose, which is Macintosh HD. There is no other option. However, the installer disk did appear in my finder. So I am not sure whats happening...

  • Boot camp does not open up on the windows side

I installed first windows 8.1 preview then reintalled the full pro version, but when I click bootcamp.exe it does not open up. The program however is running in the background. Would I need to redo the entire bootcamp process? Cuz I really want to use my function keys and trackpad like my mac os.

windows8.1 is not officially support at all in bootcamp
you have to manually install the drivers you want and not rely on the exe file to do the work for you or use windows8 or wait for official 8.1 support

  • Ok, so after I upgraded to ML I can no longer Boot camp...

Ok, so I just reinstalled OSX 10.8(A clean install) and now I can't boot camp, when I open up the application it says "The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition. The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows.". Why does it say this?

  • Help! How to start windows in boot camp?

I have read several posts on this but I still cannot seem to get it started. I recently bought a macbook with bootcamp set up with windows xp. I had vmware fusion on my computer to use windows but I uninstalled it because I cannot use it for the purpose of windows that I need. Now, I do not know how to start windows on my computer. I cannot use a virtual machine because my exam software that I use for school will not start up when using a virtual machine.
I restart my computer and hold down the option key and the only hard drive that shows up is the Mac HD. The boot camp drive does not show up. So, if I cannot start windows that way...is there any other way???
    THANKS!

I cannot use a virtual machine because my exam software that I use for school will not start up when using a virtual machine.
    It requires DirectX 9? Huh?
I restart my computer and hold down the option key and the only hard drive that shows up is the Mac HD.
That sounds like your computer came with VM Fusion, and was not set up with boot camp. Please prove me wrong.
First, how many disk icons are on your Mac OS desktop? Is there just the Macintosh HD icon, or is there another disk icon labelled, say, "Untitled" or "Boot Camp".
Second, open /Applications/Disk Utility. Select your hard drive (not the Macintosh HD volume, but the actual hard drive, just above the Macintosh HD volume). Then click the "partition tab". How many partitions do you have. Does it show one HFS+ Journaled volume, or more than one partition and of what types.
Third, if you did see a second disk icon in step one, select it and hit CMD-I. What is its used and free space? Open it in Finder: is there a boot.ini file? A Windows folder?
Fourth--I should have thought of this first, sorry--some MacBooks have a bug that Option doesn't let you select an OS. So open Apple > System Preferences > Startup Disk and see if there is a Windows there for you to select. If so, select it and "reboot now" to boot into Windows. To boot back into Mac OS, you can either use the option key, or use the boot camp system tray icon to select Mac OS as your startup disk.
Finally, did your computer come with a Windows XP CD?

  • Erased boot camps hard drive with time machine?

so, i completely erased windows by erasing what was on boot camps hard drive. Boot camp cannot read my "start up" harddrive now. and the harddrive will not turn into a jornaled macintosh hard drive. i checked it with disk utility and it claims to be ok. is there a way i canget back the hard drive and my windows 7 to start up all over again?

I am having a similar problem.  I use a  Lacie external hard drive connected to an Airport Time Capsule via USB to store my itunes library.  Yesterday I disconnected the external drive from the ATC and connected it to my macbook pro via fire wire to transfer 40 gigabytes of media files from my laptop to the external drive directly rather than over wifi.  When I reattached the external drive to the ATC the Lacie drive didn't show up even after rebooting everything. I then disconnected from the ATC and reconnected to the laptop and now I get an error message saying the Lacie disk is unrecognizable and needs to be reformated.  The Lacie drive was being included in the time machine backups so the files should be available through time machine but I don't see anyway to access them because the Lacie disk icon doesn't appear in the time machine backups.  Is there another way to browse the files?
I have had issues with Lacie disks not showing up on the desktop before, particularly when transferring files from one computer to another.  The transfer usually goes fine but then when I reattach the drive to the first computer it isn't recognized anymore until I reboot and it sometimes requires a couple of reboots.  I initially tried to connect the external drive to both the ATC and the laptop but that didn't work, although now I'm wondering if that was because the connection to the laptop was firewire rather than USB like the ATC.  In any case I currently have over a terabyte of data on my lacie that I can't access which includes my entire itunes library and backup files from multiple computers which were "cleaned" but not restored.
Disk utility sees the drive but can't verify or repair and tells me to backup as many files as possible and then reformat.  Unfortunately I can't see ANY files to backup because the disk won't mount anywhere.  If anyone has a recommendation for utilities to recover the files I'd be most grateful to get them.

  • Boot camp assistant idle, Boot camp assistant idle

I am trying to add a windows partition to my MacBook.
Yesterday I restored the Mac as it said that although there were 120gb free space it could not move certain files to create the 50gb partition.
With the Mac restored , and 150 go of free disk space I set boot camp to create a 50gb partition for windows 7 ultimate.
The blue progress bar zipped rapidly across to 100% however next the boot camp status showed "IDLE".
Now nothing is happening. The boot camp window is open, no buttons are active, it says IDLE.
Any tips on what to do next?
    Is the partition created?
Can I get around this in any way?
    Thanks

I've just experienced the same problem restoring my Mac Mini to a single partition. The progress bar reached 100% and then the status became "Idle". I couldn't find any help through Googling, so after about half an hour I just quit the Bootcamp Assistant and rebooted my machine. Everything seems to be ok - I guess it did finish doing the job and just failed on the front-end. Which is fine by me!
