Boot Camp for Macbook Pro "Windows 8"

Hello. Excuse me my ignorance. I have MacBook Pro > http://www.zzounds.com/item--APLMBP17
And I installed Windows 8.. I can't find Boot Camp for it.. Help me please...

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Windows 8 is only compatible with Mid 2010 15-inch or newer MacBooks Pro, and your computer is older, so there aren't drivers for Boot Camp in Windows 8 for your MacBook. Read > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634
You could install Windows 8 because your Mac is compatible, but Apple decided not to give Boot Camp compatibility with Windows 8 to your computer, so it won't work correctly with Windows 8. You can continue using it with Windows 8 or you can install Windows 7 and download the Boot Camp drivers, so it will work correctly

  • Trying to install Boot Camp on MacBook Pro (late 2011) os x Lion

    Hey everyone,
I've been trying to install Boot Camp for my MacBook but when I get up to installing the Windows support software it just stops at around 20% and won't go any further. I've tried restarting the whole thing a few times but it still won't move at all. It's very frustrating as I need some software for one of my University papers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Windows not finding Boot Camp on MacBook Pro

Hey everyone. I have Windows 7 64-bit and a MacBook Pro (mid 2010) with OS X Lion installed. When I boot up in Windows, it seems that only half of the time Windows realizes that it is on a Mac. Meaning...only half of the time the Boot Camp program is running in the notification tray, and only half of the time will Windows register the volume up/down, brightness up/down, and keyboard backlight up/down buttons on the Mac. It makes it very difficult to say...adjust the brightness or volume in the middle of a game. I can still go out of the game and turn up the volume in the notification area, but it is becoming a huge hassle. Like I said, this is only happening about half of the time. The other half of the time Windows registers that Boot Camp is on it, there is the Boot Camp icon in the bottom right corner of Windows, and all of my control buttons (brightness, volume, etc.) work just fine. Any ideas on how to make this happen every time? Thanks.

  • Windows 7 Boot Camp on MacBook Pro 10.5.8

    Hey there,
So I'm mostly use my Macbook Pro boot camp'd and am upgrading from XP to Windows 7.  I'm looking everywhere online and it looks like I need Snow Leopard for the Boot Camp v3.0+.  There's no where I can find that is selling Snow Leopard or Lion or Mountain Lion DVD's anywhere at reasonable prices ($95 on Amazon for SL).  I won't have a problem installing the OS itself manually through DiskUtility, but with drivers I don't think they work properly with Win7.
    Anyone know what to do?

    Hello,
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...
    http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
It's been pulled from the online store, so you have to call Apple to buy it, last I heard, but quick, call before it's gone!
    Call Apple 1-800-MY-APPLE
You have to get 10.6.8 first to go even higher to 10.7 or 10.8

  • Weird DVD drive issue on Windows Boot Camp on Macbook Pro

Hi, I just installed Windows on my Macbook Pro with Boot Camp. Windows itself works fine, then I tried installing Fallout 3. The installation took a really long time, which I thought was weird. I tried to play the game but it timed out in trying to read the disc. To further test this, I threw in a movie DVD and tried to play it. Windows Media Player said I didn't have a compatible DVD decoder. I tried playing the dvd in Mac OS and it works fine. I've also run the Leopard DVD install for Boot Camp fine. I used the Windows XP video decoder and it has determined that I don't have an MPEG-2 decoder installed. What I'm confused about is that if I manage to get a hold of a decoder, will that affect other processes, such as reading the DVD for video games?

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
by design courtesy of Microsoft the Media Player is not capable of playing DVDs unless an appropriate DVD-Decoder is installed.
You can use an alternative media player like VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc
But this should not affect the usage of Windows Games, since usually a Games manufacturer puts all needed software to run his games onto the games CD/DVD, so it has to be something else preventing Fallout 3 from running.
Time-outs when trying to read/check the disc can be sometimes caused by 'dirt' on the disc (fingerprints, scratches, etc.).
    Check for that.
Also make sure to have not installed programs for 'Virtual-Disc-Drives' like Daemon-Tools and/or Disc-Burning software like Nero, since these can also hinder the game from running.
    Hope it helps
    Stefan

  • Installing Windows 7 Without Using The Boot Camp Installer (MacBook Pro)

I don't know if anyone knows this or not, but I was able to install Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro just using the Windows 7 install disk.
I restarted with the windows CD in, and when the screen said press any key to boot from CD, I pressed the space bar. When it got to the part to select the installation drive, I went into advanced and removed all the partitions and formatted the whole thing. There was a small system partition the cannot be deleted (probably reserved for the system). I was able to install Windows 7 and use the whole drive for it.
After running Windows 7, I was still able to install the Boot Camp Control Panel to set the keyboard, track pad, sound, and all the other funtions. If I tell it to reboot to the Apple OS, it just reboots to Window 7 with no problems.
Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool and might be helpful for people who want to run only Widows 7 on their MacBook Pro.
CAUTION... DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

People have been using Mac as Windows-only.
On Mac Pro, with 4 internal drives, it is normal to not use anything other than the Windows DVD and install onto a dedicated drive, same as you did, only change it from GPT to MBR first.
    There is no risk.
(Well, some feel that someone might 'need' OS X to do something like a firmware update I guess.)

  • Boot camp in Macbook pro with mountain lion Os support windows XP?

Hi, I have macbook pro 2010 and I update the OS to mountain Lion... The problem now, I want to install the Boot Camp with windows XP ..? and also the boot camp could not finalize the download..

Crap software then, you'll have to go back to SL if the performance of XP in a VM is too slow, try it first, use Virtual Box.
Frankly any manufacturer that can not be bothered to update from a 12 year old piece of software should be out of business, and have you checked to see whether there is an updated version or not?

  • How to enable VT-x for Win 7 boot camp partition MacBook pro?

I am trying to install HAXM to accelerate my android emulator, but I am having problems. I have a Win 7 bootcamp partition in my Macbook Pro, and when I am finishing the installation a message pops up saying that my VT-x is not enabled, the problem is that I can't access the BIOS to turn on the virtualization easily like a PC user, How to enable the VT-x for Win 7 boot camp partition?
The VT-x is running beautiful in my macintosh partition, but I can't understand why in my boot camp partition the VT-x remains disabled.
My processor is a Intel Core I5-2435M , I downloaded the intel processor identification utility, and my processor supports the virtualization tech and hyper-threading tech.

You can return that Mac for a full refund if it is less than 14 days from date of purchase.

I have the same problem. Have you figured this out yet? I just bought a MacBook Air 2013. I thought I would be able to use Virtualization because it has a supported processor, but now it won't work in Boot Camp.

  • Windows 8 on boot camp on MacBook Pro retina w/external monitors = screen resolution not correct

how do i calibrate external monitors resolutions individually in windows 8 (like can be done in OS X) so that my MacBook Pro retina text isn't teeny tiny and my external monitors look normal? Is there a way to set the resolution and text size for each monitor separate from one another in Windows 8? Thanks for the help.

In Windows 8 use the help menu and search for external display.

  • Need help installing boot camp onto macbook pro

I'm attempting to get Boot Camp to run on my MacBook Pro as I need to run several programs on windows for school. I purchased a Windows 8.1 download from Microsoft's website. The download from their website is not an ISO image and is not recognized by the Boot Camp Assistant on the "Create Bootable USB Drive for Windows Installation" screen. I am not a tech savvy person and I would appreciate any help/advice, it seems that I have to somehow convert the download?
    Thank you!

You get an ISO using this method - http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-download-the-official-microsoft-windows-8-1-is o/
You will need the ISO to be able to build the USB that Bootcamp needs.

  • How to make boot disk for MacBook Pro with Mavericks pre-installed

    Hi -
I recently bought a new 15" MacBook Pro with Retina Display, which came pre-installed with Mavericks (10.9.0).  I want to make a bootable USB disk of the system software, and have successfly used DiskMaker X (formerly Lion DiskMaker) to make the USB boot disks for Lion and Mountain Lion.  In those cases, however, I was running earlier versions of the OSX, and downloaded the new OSX version -- Lion and Mountain Lion -- from the App Store in order to make to make the disk.  In this case, however, Mavericks was pre-installed, and I was unable to download it from the App Store (an alert said that it couldn't be installed on this computer... presumably because it was already installed).  I would apprecite any suggestions as to how I can create the boot disk without the ability to download Mavericks.  Thanks very much for any help anyone can provide.
    Shelly

Open App Store and locate the full installer download file (5.29 GBs) for 10.9.1. Download to your computer.
Make Your Own Mavericks, Mountain/Lion Installer
After downloading the installer you must first save the Install Mac OS X application. After the installer downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing.
        2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the leftside list. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list.
Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash drive size.
        3. Use DiskMaker X to put your installer clone onto the USB flash drive.
Make your own Mavericks flash drive installer using the Mavericks tool:
You can also create a Mavericks flash drive installer via the Terminal. Mavericks has its own built-in installer maker you use via the Terminal:
You will need a freshly partitioned and formatted USB flash drive with at least 8GBs. Leave the name of the flash drive at the system default, "Untitled." Do not change this name. Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder. Copy this command line after the prompt in the Terminal's window:
    sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app --nointeraction
Press RETURN. Enter your admin password when prompted. It will not be echoed to the screen so be careful to enter it correctly. Press RETURN, again.
Wait for the process to complete which will take quite some time.

Are you using the keyboard on your MacBook Pro? If so, does the problem crop up if you plug in an external USB keyboard?

  • SSD 6gb/s that works with W7x64 Boot Camp on MacBook Pro 2011 17" ?

So far I've tried a Corsair Force Series 3 120 GB an  OCZ Vertex 3 120 GB and neither work with Boot Camp. In fact the Corsair doesn't work at all. I guess that leaves me with a limited choice but if anyone with the same setup as me has managed to a get a working Boot Camp Windows 7 SSD 6gb/s installation happening I'm all ears
    Thanks
    Kraznet

An SSD is other than Apple's with its poor performance and possible proprietary firmware, is just an SSD. OWC uses SandForce controllers and has for quite awhile, and they use "tier #1 memory"
In essence, and not knowing what Corsair missed and why, Windows should work fine.
The problems are - I don't trust the Q&A behind the new 2011s and whoever designed the SATA3 controller and connector interface.
Windows 7 SP1 should be able to boot DVD, see the drive (no need for F6) and format the entire SSD properly.
There was an issue with the first generation of Intel X25s not working also, an issue that did require firmware update from Intel (and I can't keep track if Apple offered firmware update) for those MBP owners. I never saw an issue with a Mac Pro workstation and Intel SSD as far as installing Windows, and I use Windows on its own drive, not dual boot off same drive.
Intel moved to Marvell controller this round it seems for the 310/510 series rather than SF or their own.
This review was done... under Windows, too (but not a Mac)
