Boot Camp Internet Connection

I've installed Boot Camp & Win XP SP2....seems to run flawlessly. When I boot Tiger my network setup stays intact, yet when I boot from XP anything net related doesn't work. I was trying to setup a new network connection and noticed Device Manager claims not all my hardware is recognized like my Network Controller & Ethernet Controller.
Does anyone have a solution to this? Has anyone been able to setup a internet connection on their Apple product running XP? Do I have to find the manufacture of the network card included in my iMac and then see if I can find drivers for it? I doubt Apple would make these drivers available...and if they did they would already be included on the driver disk I had to create to install Boot Camp.

I'm running a 3rd part5y Dial Up, USB external Modem, marketed for both Mac and PC, (in the software cd, 1 set is for Apple, 1 for PC). Only problem I had, and I suspect is yours even though different connect/modem, was the Modem, only had drivers fro Wind..ws XP, NOT Wind..ws XP WITH Service Pack 2, I contacted the Modem maker, 1st saying I needed it for Wind..ws XP WITH S-Pack 2, right off they knew, and em'd me new drivers, for that modem, to work w/ XP 2. Apple won't ever (I'm sure), make/issue software drivers, to allow thier modem/connections to work on Win..ws also. I found 3 3rd party dial ups, which the same model is made for Mac and PC, yoou just load the Mac drivers on Mac side, and Win..ws Driveers on 'that' side. (Best Data , DiamondSupra, and Zoom all had dial up's for combo PC/Macs, maybe for ethernet/airport also?...Also, I tried downloading drivers on the inet/Mac side, the burned disc's, wouldn't load/work on PC side, so if you have to d-load drivers, do it from a PC, then try installing on your Artyificially intelligent Mac, G'Luck

  • Problem with Boot Camp internet connection

I use Boot Camp only for playing games, and everything is working perfectly except for my internet connection.
That is, it works perfectly for some time then without any apparent reason it just loses connection.
It usually works for about 2 hours, then simply disconnects, without offering any explanation.
A restart solves this problem for another couple of hours, then it disconnects again.
This is quite bothersome when trying to play an MMO for any extended period of time.
I am connected to the internet via router that is directly plugged into the iMac and don't have any problems on OS X.
I'm running Windows 7 on Boot Camp and everything is working perfectly except for this.
Anyone have similar problems or any idea what this might be and how to solve it?
    Thanks.

    Ever figure this out?

  • Help with Boot Camp Internet Drivers (Mac Mini 2011)

Hi all- I've come here looking for some help / advice with regards to internet access on Boot Camp I have recently installed.
I have recently bought a Mac Mini i5 2011, and installed Windows 7 onto it. When I run OSX, I can access the internet with no issues, however when in Boot Camp, I come up against problems with Broadcom drivers and being able to connect.
I have put my Snow Leopard disc (from the MBP I'm transferring from) into my superdrive, and installed the 64-bit drivers.
I've also installed Boot Camp 3.1 and 3.2 updates.
I have also tried installing the Broadcom wireless n drivers after searching for them in the list.
Plugging an ethernet cable into the router doesn't work either, and I'm beginning to run out of options to try.
    Re-installing Windows hasn't worked.
Any help will be appreciated, hope I'm not the only one to encounter this issue!

Google is your friend. An OEM DVD from another Mac is not  though would think/hope - and forget reinstalling.
Blame Apple. Goes same for audio, graphics.
Broadcom drivers search on this forum.... should find lots of folks running into issues.

  • No PC Boot Camp partition connection

My Airport Extreme connected immediately on Imac side (OS-X, 10.6.6) but Airport utility doesn't recognize base station(running Windows XP, SP3) on PC side. Just finished over-phone session with Apple Support but nothing on Apple side appears to be the problem according to them. Help!!!

    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
Did you install the Mac drivers into Windows? I know that this can be done by inserting an OS X installation disc while Windows is running, but since I don't use Boot Camp myself, I'm not sure how that works with driver updates.

  • Pbms w T400 after bios update: long time to boot, TPM&internet connect pbms

    Hello,
I have a T400 thinkpad, type 7417 that I bought in the US in Nov 2008 (it was downgraded from vista to xp). In November 2011 the computer was running slow so I decided to clean it up a bit and then do the maintenance recommended by the thinkvantage program. I proceeded to do all the smaller updates and the last one that was recommended was updating the BIOS (from what I understood). I left the computer doing these updates overnight, making sure it was plugged into a power source as specified by the update.
The next morning I found that my computer took 5-10minutes to start up and when it did, the screen resolution was altered as if it was in safe mode or something…I removed the HD and saved my data, then tried to use the Rescue and Recovery program to revert to factory settings. Although it seems that the factory settings were indeed restored I still have many problems with the computer. 1. it takes 5-10min to start (blank screen pre-windows logo) 2. it gives me 2 error messages once it has booted: 2a. "Tvttcsd application has encountered a pbm and needs to close." 2b. "There was a pbm connecting to the tpm (security devie) on this computer. It is possible that anti-virus or firewall software is blocking the connection. A missing or disabled driver could also cause this problem. Please refer to the online documentation for more information." 3. it cannot connect to the internet (either wifi or ethernet) 4. Ad-aware tells me it detects a malicious program running but cannot seem to clear it. I have seen several threads about these problems but cannot figure out if they are all connected or not. Before touching anything I was hoping for some help on how to proceed - I am no expert but I can follow instructions I am currently running avast on the computer to hopefully get rid of whatever viruses there may be and see if that can solve the problem. All help is really really welcome please!!!! lore

When I try to look into the Windows firewall I get the following error message:
"Cannot start Windows firewall/internet connection sharing service."
Not sure if both of these are related or not. Any ideas? Would re-installing windows help?
Thanks so much for your help! lore
Did you "optimize" your computer with "Tuneup utilities"? This might cause problems like that.
Also check, whether the services "Windows Firewall" is set to start "Automatic" and running.
Third party desktop-firewall like Zonealarm, Kaspersky or Symantec Internet Security also can cause that problem. In that case remove it including all policies, test the connection and re-install it. Activate training-mode and disallow automatic blocking unknown outgoing connections.

  • Boot Camp Internet Speed Drastically Different From OSX Speeds

I'm running windows 7 in BootCamp on a Mac Air (Early 2014); in BootCamp I am averaging 5M/10M. That's right for some reason my download is slower than my upload on the windows side.
On the OSX side I average 80M/15M.
    These are both wireless numbers.
As you can see this is a drastic difference.
How can I take full advantage of my internet speeds on the windows side?
I have installed the BootCamp 5.1.5640 Drivers 3 or 4 times now per Apple's website however this has not changed my results. I have also disabled auto updates in windows as I know that can sometimes overwrite the drivers from Apple.
Any assistance or suggestions would be great!

This could be all sorts of things but i am inclined to have the same suspicion of others here which is that your ISP is messing with your bandwidth.
In the UK pretty much every ISP shapes traffic, i've ended up buying a VPN internet service to get around this permanently (this appears as encrypted traffic over the shttp port to your ISP) this is the only way i've managed to get consistent speed with everything.
The only thing this doesn't protect against is if you're ISP is throttling your entire connection - they usually only do this if you start to break your monthly bandwidth limits.
Anyway like i said this might not be the case at all... however you can get free VPN trials to test this, this one provides trials on request (they are manually initiated so be patient): http://www.yourprivatevpn.com/

  • Boot Camp update 3.1

I installed Win7 on Boot Camp 3.0.1, soon after getting the Macbook Pro. I then installed Parallels 5, and set it to use the Win7 installation. Soon afterward I got invalid activation number notices, and had to get a phone re-act from Windows, which worked.
I read somewhere that the problem was that Windows saw a hardware change with the Boot Camp - Parallels connection, hence the activation issue. So I used ONLY Win7 thru Parallels, and not ever Boot Camp directly.
Now I ses an update to Boot Camp 3.1 available, and Apple now supports Win 7. So I tried to install the BC 3.1 update. This is what happened (2 or 3 times now):
    1) I click on the 3.1 Update exe.
    2) Parallels-Win7 immediately opens, and something like installation procedures happen.
    3) am asked to restart. I do.
The About This Mac check on software tells me that Boot Camp Assistant is still 3.0.1 version. No update.
Software requirements on the Apple site for BC 3.1 lists Win Xp, which I don't have - I have only Win7 (64 bit).
    My questions:
Is there no upgrade possible without Win Xp?
Is there any way to do the upgrade?
Does this upgrade allow Windows to see ONLY one machine when switching between Boot Camp and Parallels 5 - thus no activation issues with MS?
    I'd appreciate any help.

    Read this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3172
You will need to install the Boot Camp Utility for Windows 7 upgrade and follow the instructions in this article. I don't have Windows 7 so can't be absolutely sure how the procedure works. This article doesn't address the effect of having Parallels installed. I don't have Parallels either so can't help with this aspect.
I don't know whether there is an additional special sequence to follow to ensure the update of Boot Camp when Windows 7 is already installed.

  • Boot Camp forgot how to boot

Im getting "no bootable device" (or something close to this). It's flipping weird so let's start with a chain of events.
I must install WinXP via an external LaCie d2 USB/FW device. This thing can boot off Leopard install DVD just fine. It used to be able to boot off Win XP install DVD just fine too. The later capability evaporated in mid air or something else equally senseless.
1- use Boot Camp Assistant to partition HDD then start installation.
2- Windows did it's thing just fine up to the first reboot.
3- Windows can't boot allegedly because of this: (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1722?viewlocale=en_US)
    4- Start over from scratch.
5- used Boot Camp Assistant to partition HDD then start installation.
    6- no can do.
It forgot how to boot off the Windows DVD. It lost the capability right there. I get either: (paraphrased) "No bootable device found. Press any key to continue" or the blank grey screen. There is no key that does anything. It's dead, Jim. I must shutdown the mac by holding the power button long enough then hold option down to select Mac. OK.
What is going on? I went as far as re-flashing the DVD firmware. It's all dandy in there. Nothing to report.
What am I supposed to do now?
    Pretty please...
    confusingly yours,
    Andrew from Canada

OK. A bit more infos as well as a bump.
The WinXP disk show up in boot camp when connected via FW then Windows can't use FW to boot so it's pointless...
It does not show up in boot camp when connected via USB.
I know it can boot from USB because it already did that once.. This is also the official procedure for installing Windows into a Macbook Air. So there
It forgot how... or it villainy refuse to.
Come on guys, throw me a bone here. At least one of you must have a clue...

  • Unable to connect to internet or print wirelessly on Boot Camp with Windows 7

I recently installed Boot Camp and Windows 7 on my Mac Book Pro with no problems.
A month later, I am unable to connect to internet or print wirelessly.
It states that I am connected to my router.
When I trouble shoot, it cannot find the problem.
My wireless connection and cable connection are fine on the MAC side.
    Please help.

looks a like a Windows 7 problem. I assume that you can click on the current connection info on the task bar and see a connection to your wireless router?  Have you updated your copy of Windows since it was working? I am wondering if it's an update that's applied in Windows which has done something.

  • Boot Camp Windows 7 No Longer Connects to Internet

Hello, I have a mid 2011 iMac with Boot Camp Windows 7 installation.  It has run flawlessly for more than a year.  Recently however, I have been untable to connect to internet when running Windows.  The connection works fine as a Mac.  While in Windows, I can momentarily (about 10 seconds) connect by disconnecting and reconnecting the LAN cable.  Then the "no internet."  I have all the latest Boot Camp support software installed.  All MAC and Windows software updates are installed.  My network devices are configured correctly.  I have rolled back to previous Windows updates with no resolution.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

your router, your Windows firewall, you are using something other than Windows Defender (8) or Essentials (7), something else on the cable.
you had a storm and the modem is on life support and your ISP can login and see what errors the modem is showing, you don't have network surge protection (APC tend to interfere, Cyberpower tend to work).
What else is on the LAN?
I found Windows to be funny about network but 8 and 8.1 have never had trouble. With 7 I sometimes had to reboot.
Besides Apple and Windows, some drivers are or often still needed - manually.

  • Windows 7 - Boot Camp - No Internet Connection

    Hello,
I just installed windows 7 (enterprise 64bit) onto my iMac (running the latest OS). When I log onto the Windows 7 OS it says I have no internet connection. I  use wireless, is this a problem with my network working with windows 7? wireless works on Mountain Lion just fine. Any tips on how to resolve this issue? I looked online for help and it says to reinstall the drivers from the boot camp CD. But these were old post when they use to have CDs for Boot Camp, it is now just an application on my mac. I would appreciate any help or suggestions.
    Thank you,
    Zach

Windows requires Boot Camp drivers to work correctly on a Mac.
    1. Press Option key when your Mac starts and choose Macintosh HD.
    2. Open Boot Camp Assistant, download the Boot Camp drivers and burn them into an USB disk or DVD.
    3. Start in Windows and install Boot Camp drivers

  • Boot camp with xp -- couldn't connect to the internet when installed

I need to run xp for my job because the software they use only works with windows.  So I tried installing the copy of XY I have, XP Professional, last night.   I used the same XP disk for my first mac a few years ago, a 24" iMac with Leopard.  I am now trying this on my MB pro with snow leopard.  It has the same processor as my first mac (a duo-core, I bought  a refurbished mb pro).
Everything went fine until I tried to access the Internet to get any updates and download the software needed.  I was not able to connect to the Internet at all.  I tried setting it up, etc, but nothing worked.  It could not connect, even though there seemed to be an icon that sad the signal was there (the two little computer monitors in the lower right of the taskbar)
I called my ISP to see of there was anyone on that end who might know what was going on, but nothing.  He told me that my version of Internet Explorer was old and I neede the newest one (this copy of XP was from 2002 and the original version was IE 6), at which point I asked him how I was supposed to do that when I couldn't connect to the net.  Anyway, he gave me the number for some company called plumchoice, and they couldn't help me because I was using boot camp, and I was told that they don't support that platform.  I thought that was nonsense, given that I was running windows, not OSX and it worked before.
When I did this a few years ago it worked fine -- I could get on the net with no problem,  and even then I think that there was a new version of IE that I had to upgrade to, yet I could access the Internet fine.  I thougt I needed to download some things from the internet to complete the installation (from the window that came up when you start boot camp assistant) but it couldn't find anything, so  I chose the second option that says I have the necessary disks that came with the computer.
So does anyone know what may be going on?  I would also like to mention that I didn't yet go ahead and install the OS X drivers when I tried this, but I didn't think thay would make any difference -- I thought that they were just for the keyboard and volume controls, etc.  If I need to do that, then I feel like a real idiot and you all deserve to laugh at me.
I'm not sure which disk that came with the machine is the one I'm supposed to use, so can anyone tell me that as well?  It's been a while since I did this (2008). I should be able to use this OS (and I only need it to download some software and work within it for this job).

You need to install the drivers, especially the ones for your network hardware.

  • Can't Connect to Internet on Windows 8.1 Pro Boot Camp

    Hello all,
I installed Windows 8.1 Pro without any problems. However, I saw that I can't connect to the internet, because there are no connections being displayed. How would I fix this? What drivers would I need to install? I purchased my MacBook Pro with Retina Display o November 5, 2012.

How did you install windows? Boot camp assistant would have downloaded and installed drivers for you.
    Download and install these

  • Boot Camp Windows 8.1 WiFi Internet Connectivity

I have a MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) running Yosemite, and I have installed Windows 8.1 via Boot Camp.
Most everything on my Windows OS works well, but I'm hitting an odd problem with the Internet connectivity. Sometimes, I can only get to certain sites in Internet Explorer, and NOT through Firefox or Chrome. And now, after initially installing a few days ago, I can no longer connect to the Internet via my Evernote, Dropbox, or Git apps.
Has anyone else out there experienced something similar? It could be that this is just a Windows issue and I need to post a similar query elsewhere, but I thought I would start here. I don't see any errors anywhere in my Device Manager, and I even manually added Evernote to list of apps that is supposed to be able to access the Internet via a private connection, but still no joy.

    1. Your MBA does not support EFI/Free Space method.
    2. You need to ensure that your USB is a USB2 device.
    3. The MBR should be checked, because there are known cases where BCA fails to create the MBR.
