  • Boot Camp - Black Screen after installing Windows 7

    Hello guys!
I have tried to install Windows 7 several times and so far no success.
Everything goes fine until I complete Win7 installation.
Then when I install Boot camp drivers the computer prompts for reboot.
After the login screen, I am able to log in, but the screen turns into BLACK!.
And I cannot do anything but shut it down with the power button. I can still hear that the laptop is on, but screen stays black.
I have tried removing the ATI and NVIDIA Drivers as recommended in this forum:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=840528
But so far I get the same result over an over.
Anybody is facing the same issue?
    I have MACBOOK PRO
    MAC OS X 10.6.8
    AMD Radeon HD 6490M (ATI)
    Intel HD Graphics 3000
Quad Core i7 Chip, 4GB RAM 500GB HD
    Please Help!!

I did install : Display Driver +  Catalyst Control Center dowloaded from AMD support website:
    http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/bootcamp-win7.aspx
The result is still the same - BLACK SCREEN
I rolled back to initial configuration.
Then I installed the AMD driver.
In device manager it shows as the AMD  Radeon HD 6490M driver for the display/Graphics card
Everythig is fine until I install the Boot camp drivers.
Then after the reboot I face the same issue.
However the driver for AMD still stays there in the devive manager.
    Any other ideas, suggestions?
    thanks!!

  • Boot Camp 5.0 - After Installing Windows Drivers...

Hello, all. In a bit of a pickle here, though it's nothing hugely serious. So anyway, yesterday I tried to download the Windows Support Software via Boot Camp Assistant 5.0 on my Mountain Lion MBP. It was taking quite a while so I resolved to pop a blank CD in the drive and leave it downloading overnight.
When I woke up it seemed that everything was all done downloading and a burn CD prompt was on the screen. So, I confirmed it to start burning. However, the CD drive must've been inactive for a while because it couldn't access the drive for burning and therefore the process was canceled. Boot Camp Assistant told me my drivers had been saved to the HD so I could just resume the process without having to download them all over again.
Upon restarting Boot Camp Assistant, I supposed that selecting "Download the latest Windows Support Software from Apple" option and starting it again would pick up where the last session left off -- skipping the download and going right to the burning, since the drivers were on my drive.
Apparently, that's not how Boot Camp Assistant works. It started downloading the drivers again, restarting the whole process from the top. So, my question is: is this supposed to happen? Where did my drivers go? Did they simply disappear or is it Boot Camp Assistant's fault for not recognizing they were already on the drive? I assume after restarting the download, the drivers I already downloaded had been overwritten, so they're probably history.
Any assistance would be appreciated on the matter.

I just downloaded the drivers a second time successfully, but it seems that Boot Camp Assistant just isn't too keen on burning to a disk. Now that I have the drivers "saved", apparently, all I need to know is where Boot Camp Assistant saved them to on my HD.
Can anyone help? I know that if I started the "download drivers" option over again, it'd just restart the download and waste another hour and a half of my life.

I started Boot Camp on a MAC mini but then  had a power failure after 30 secs Now when I start Boot Camp the option to install Windows 7 is gone.  In it's place is Remove Windows 7.  It seems to hang at Partitioning disk  How can I recover?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
That's because the Boot Camp volume was created, but your Mac hasn't been set up to start automatically from the Windows disc. Insert the Windows DVD and press C key while your Mac is starting to start Windows installation.
If you want to make sure that everything is correct, open Boot Camp Assistant and choose the option to remove Windows 7. Then, open that application again, select the option to install Windows 7 and you will be able to install Windows as usual

  • I can no longer boot up in osx after installing windows 7 with bootcamp

After installing windows 7 with boot camp I am no longer able to access my osx side, I do not receive an option when holding alt when turning on my MacBook

What options do you get? If you don't get any options then you may not be pressing and holding the option key long enough or you are pressing it too early or too late.

  • I am wanting to use Boot Camp to partition and install Windows.

I have a MacBook Pro 13" and I downloaded the upgrade recommended to use Boot Camp 5.1.5621 for Windows 7. The file is saved in my Downloads file and am needing to know if it linked itself to my factory installed Boot Camp Application?
If it did link the Downloaded Updates can I move the file Boot Camp 5.1.5621 without messing up the path to the Boot Camp Application?

  • HT1492 windows 7 boot camp black screen after install

    Hi,
I have installed bootcamp on a 2010 white macbook with os 10.7
Windows 7 was install all the updates for apple and windows where completed. Everything was looking good and running great. This is my work computer and it has run boot camp previously on another macbook with the same specs.
When I restarted the computer to comfirm that all was good with both partitions the mac is running great, but the windows just locks on the black screen, no cursor, no windows starting.
I tried to start with the install disk in but after the black and white instruction screen the computer went back to the black screen.
I deleted the windows partition and tried to re-install but just got the black screen straight away and it will not even load.
When i did this I noticed that Parallels had been install on the computer I tried to start it and the windows 7 is asking for the install disk to be inserted and restarted to fix problems. I insert the disk and tried to restart but nothing happened again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. As i need to do school reports over the next week!
    Thanks LC

Did you create a snapshot of Windows in Parallels to fall back onto if it won't work?
It sounds like to me you didn't pass validation, did you ignore those warning bubbles in the bottom corner?
Take the machine to a local PC/Mac geek and have them find the problem, it's too involved to go into here.

  • Boot Camp not able to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit!!???

Guys I'm using Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 & I'm having a problem installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit through boot camp. When I insert the windows installation disc it creates the partition but as soon as it restarts to proceed the installation, it hangs up there saying 'No Bootable Device. Please Insert Installation Disc and press any key to continue'. But when i was previously using Mac OS X Snow Leopard, I installed Windows 7 using the same disc and it proceeded without any issues. Can any body give me a solution to it please because I want Windows 7 in boot camp and I do not want to use it in any virtual machine like parallels desktop!!! I AM USING iMAC 2010 so its quite new!!!!!!

I am having the same problem. I have a very recent 27" iMac 3.4g i7 and I am trying to install Windows 7 64bit upgrade. Also running OSX 10.7.2. It also stalls out after expending files reporting that there are missing files with a error code 0x80070057. I was trying to install a fresh complete version but had bought the upgrade.. I had vista on another machine but had taken it off and was going to use the key for the upgrade. No windows had as of yet been installed. I later tried to install Vista as a way to upgrade to Win7,which went ok, but when I tried to upgrade to Win 7 64bit, I couldn't. I have tried this multiple times without success and have removed the boot camp partition after each failed attempt... Any Suggestions?? Thanks in advance

  • Can I partition a 3tb fusion drive on a 2014 imac27", with boot camp, to let me install windows 7?

I have used boot camp to create a partition for Windows 7 on 3 earlier Macs (iMac 24" 2007 / Mac Pro 2009 / Macbook Pro 2009) as well as a recent Macbook Air 2012.
My main reason for this is to use Sage Account/Payroll, and also a couple of other Windows-specific programs.
I have just replaced the old iMac with a new iMac27", with a 3tb fusion drive, and want to partition it to install a new oem copy of Win 7 sp1.
However, I found an article on this (link: http://twocanoes.com/winclone/support/installing-windows-on-a-boot-camp-partitio n-on-a-3-tb-fusion-drive) implying this might not currently be officially supported by Apple & boot camp assistant, and providing a workaround procedure to create 3 partitions. The article begins with this note: "Important Note: This help document is for reference only, superceded by updates to OS X that include support for 3TB drives and Fusion drive in Boot Camp Assistant.  Use Boot Camp Assistant to create the Boot Camp partition."
    I have two questions:
1 - Can anyone advise if updates have now been made, to provide this support for partitioning the 3tb fusion drive?....and if not, is this likely to change soon?
2 - If this is still not officially supported, can anyone advise if they have successfully created a Windows partition on the 3tb fusion drive & installed Win 7?
    Thanks in advance.

Based on Apple's knowledge base. this configuration is supported for Windows 7 x64 and 8 using Mountain Lion 108.3 or higher. Simply use BootCamp Assistant to set it up.
    See here:
      http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5639?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
    and here:

For your application, you might also consider virtualization software like VMWare Fusion or Parallels.
I use both BootCamp and VMWare Fusion. Fusion is much easier to install, more flxible, runs at the same time as your Mac applications etc. For typical applications, there is no notable performance degradation.
If you need high performance graphics for gaming, BootCamp is still the best way to go. For all other applications, I prefer VMWare.

  • Boot camp 4 can't install windows support drivers

    Hi everyone,
I have the new imac 27" with thunderbolt and preinstalled Lion. They dont give you a CD.
I run Boot Camp assistant (version 4.0) and try to install windows on a purchased DVD Windows 7 x64 ( i am a recent convert to mac but still need some windows proggys.)
Ok so once I run the installation It asks me to download the windows support drivers... I do this but then it stops 3/4 through the process and comes up with an error "can't install windows support drivers".
Do any of you out know how to fix this???
Also If I dont use the option to update the software before installing and just select install windows 7 (second option) from a disc. It installs windows fine BUT it wont install any of the network, usb, camera, graphics and sound drivers. so basicaly I am blocked from the internet for windows to update the drivers. I also cant get the driver files from another computer as the mac in windows mode can recognised usb sticks as the drivers arent installed.
I need help urgently on this as it is doing my head
    Thanks in advance.
    Daniel!

    Yes, but.
Open Network Preferences>Network>Advanced>Proxies and uncheck everything (try Passive Mode on, and off, but no auto Proxies)
    And try again.

  • IMac has been updated and I don't have install disk for 10.6 or later.  Can I still proceed with using Boot Camp 3.0 to install Windows?

I have an iMac that has been updated to Mac OS X 10.6.8.  When I purchased the computer, it came with Mac OS X 10.5.6.  Will I be able to use Boot Camp 3.0.4 to install Windows without a physical disk of Mac OS X 10.6 or later?  Could I get around that if I've backed everything up to Time Capsule?  How do I take care of any drivers I may need?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
you need the OSX Snow Leopard Install DVD since it is the only valid source of the BootCamp Drivers.
The 3.0 version of the BootCamp Drivers is only avaiable on the disc.
Later updates (3.1 and 3.2) can then be downloaded from Apples Support website but require that the 3.0 drivers are already installed.
Easiest solution IMHO is to buy a retail OSX Snow Leopard disc for USD 29.
Btw. the seller of your Mac should have included the install disc for the OSX that is on the harddisk.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Boot Camp Partition Missing after shrinking Mac Partition

Hello Chris I have a OSX 10.9.2 running all upgrades, Powerbook 2.3g i7 16 GB , Had a boot camp partition of 49 GB, running windows 7 all working fine.
Decided to bump the windows 7 to 100 GB. Used disk utility to decrease the mac partition to 401.6
Image of the way it is now.
The Gray part is what is from the apply done the original time.
After I hit apply. I then restarted and tried to enter boot camp by holding down the altOption key as usual but only the OSX and the Recover partition where there No Windows.
NOTE: did the Windows 7 partition increase from 29 to the 49 GB before this same way and everything worked fine for over a month till i decided to double the partition to 100GB.
In the preferences the Mac Hd only shows up, no network or windows.
Network does show up when holding down altOption Key

  • Boot Camp: Black Screen when installing Windows 7

Hey guys, I have an intel 27' iMac. 4 days ago I removed windows 7 because there was an issue with the system (it didn't let me run Maya), so I attempted to install windows 7 again, but the problem was that my internal disk drive doesn't work. (Tried multiple ways of fixing it) Then I bought an external disk drive, hoping that this would fix everything, I was able to partition my windows 7, but when the mac restarts for the first time I'm introduced by a black screen with a small blinking dash top-left of the screen. So I found a fix for it, I got a USB renamed it to MBRFAT or MRBFAT don't remember exactly (I'm on a different computer) and did everything the internet told me to do. To my surprise, it made the blinking dash disappear, but I was introduced with yet another error. Bootmgr is missing, these 4 days were filled with complete bad luck. Please help me out here.
Too long; didn't read version: When the iMac restarts for the first time, a black screen appears with a Bootmgr error, telling me to press any key, although I keep pressing it on my USB mac keyboard nothing happens.
