Boot Camp isn't letting me install!? Please Help
I load up Boot Camp Assistants, I installed the Windows Support Software on to a disc and I come to the 'Create a Partition for Windows' part; I set up the memory I want for the Windows (75GB) and click 'Install' but it keeps coming up with 'The installer disc could not be found' 'Insert your windows installer disc...' but i dont have a Windows installer disc. Please Help??
you need to buy Windows 7 or 8, you need to put any electronic version, ISO, on DVD if it doesn't come on physical media.

Boot Camp will not let me install Windows via external hard drive
Hi,
I'm having problems installing Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro. I have the iso file on my external hard dirve and have went to Boot Camp but the following message comes up:
"The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.
The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows."
At one point i just clicked OK and let Boot Camp install the selected tasks, which formated the disk, copied the Windows files and downloaded the Windows support software but another message came up:
"Install this Windows support software after installing Windows"
It then only gives me an option to Quit...
I would like to add that i tried to install Windows a few days ago and everything was working well up until instead of clicking on "customize" to continue the installation i clicked on "upgrade" then it asked me to remove disk and reboot the computer, i did that and it didn't work. Luckily i got that sorted but wanted to try and install Windows again as it didn't end up getting it installed and this is what is happening now...
Can someone suggest to me what might be wrong?

I dragged down the Macintosh HD partition via the small triangle at the bottom right hand side of it. It now looks like this:
Is it back to normal now? Can i install Windows now or do i need to do anything else?

Boot Camp Assistant: Using disk utility? (PLEASE HELP!)
I am trying to download Windows XP with boot camp and I waited for the disk to be partitioned (I'm not even really sure what that means) and then it says:
The disk cannot be partitioned because some files cannot me moved. Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single MAC OS Extended (Journaled) Volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again.
Okay, so I went to Disk Utility and now I have no idea what I am supposed to do. Please help!If you use Time Machine you can reinstall Leopard and then using the Install Disc go to the Utilities and go to the Restore from Time Machine. You can restore your new drive to any of the saved days. It would save them to the hard disk defragmented. Another program is SuperDuper! which can make a clone of your Macintosh HD to an external disc as a bootable option. This is easier and faster though this program has not been confirmed to work with Leopard yet. And as I said before you can buy iDefrag for $30 and not have to restore and erase anything. But what ever you do, make sure to back your files up.

Use the Disk Utility to delete it and resize the partition immediately above of it so it takes up the released space.

You don't even need to do that. As downloading the drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant can be unreliable, it is better to get the package directly from here:

Copy the .zip file to a USB flash drive or burn it to a DVD in OS X. Install Windows as normal, insert the flash drive/DVD in Windows, copy the .zip file to the hard drive, extract it, then run the setup executable. -

cox i want to use rEFIt to boot up my pendrive to install windows.
Due to some reason the boot camp 4.0.1 cannnot detect my usb drive (that contained windows 7), so thats why i use the rEFIt to boot from my usb driveYes, you can.
Let the BootCamp Assistant just make the partition and do not click on "Install Windows"-button.
The result is a preformatted FAT32-partition on your Mac.

I recently brought a mac and downloaded windows with the help of boot camp and by mistake i installed windows 7 ultimate version whereas i had the cd and serial key of windows home premium i started installing windows home premium from windows 7 ULTIMATE then after the exctraction of files and everything the windows setup came and my mouse and keyboard stopped working and i dont know how to open mac os x there is no option anywhere?? what shall i do pls help!!!!if there are any keyboard shortcut key to open mac os x or boot camp pls mention.

I've downloaded the Window support option software and the WindowSetupBox.exe and copied it to the USB drive. I tried to create an iso image from my Windows XP machine but recieved messages that Windows 8.1 could not run on XP. I've ordered the Windows 8.1 backup media.
Any way to proceed?

Boot Camp Won't Let Me Partition
I have been trying to set up a Windows XP partition on my Macbook just to play some games, but Boot Camp won't let me partition my hard drive, saying that some files are unmovable and that I should reformat my entire hard drive. Any ideas how to get around this without losing all of my work?
None that I know of. If you have access to an external hard drive, go ahead with the backup. This way, you have a fallback no matter what happens.
In theory, when a backup is restored, files are laid down in a manner that minimizes fragmentation; so if successful in backing up, reinitializing and restoring the hard disk, you should be able to create the Boot Camp volume.
You could also experiment with creating a smaller Boot Camp volume. What the Assistant is looking for is an unbroken string of free space blocks--something between 5 GB and whatever your chosen partition size might be. Strange as it might sound, depending on your habits as a user, you might not have that unbroken string even when you have something like 100 GB free.
Hopefully, I've pointed you in a good direction here, though you may disagree with the solutions offered. They are simply the only known methods for dealing with this issue.

Have you attempted to reset the SMC? That would be the first step. Hold the left control, option, shift key and the power button for about 5 seconds and release. Then try to reboot. Might as well reset the PRAM as well. Hold command, option, P, R on start up until the machine restarts. If that doesnt' have any affect we'll have to dig deeper into a potential hardware failure.
If this method doesn't work, check the webcam that will tell the problem is on the iSight & WiFi cable. If your webcam is ok, then it'll be the WiFi card problem. Hope it can help ;-)

That moves only the iTunes media, not the iTunes library (which is really kinda nebulous).
iTunes library = iTunes folder and all the media, wherever it is located.
The /Music/iTunes/ folder contains the iTunes library.itl file, which keeps track of everything in iTunes.
I do however still have the original MAIN startup drive still in the computer, it's just not the startup.
This is good you still have it.
Try this...
Hold Option and launch iTunes.
Select Choose library... and select the /iTunes/ folder on the original drive. It should be in /Users/your_user_name/Music/.
Don't mess with anything. We can get it cleared up.
