Boot Camp not Completing install Win7Pro 32 bit
Is there a reason I can not get windows 7 pro 32 bit to install on my mac book? quick bit of info I used the owc data doubler to install a ssd into my optical drive bay… and installed my dvd into an external dvd case bought again from OWC… both ssd and dvd function fine it just seems to only go so far and either I am impatient or it is not installing win 7 on the ssd. anyone suggestions, am I missing something, or does my mac just not want to run a 32 bit version?
OS X does not cause issues, but Bootcamp is very sensitive to hardware modifications. Macs with built-in Optical drives cannot use an external Optical drive to install Windows because of the booting method used by Bootcamp Assistant. BCA updates the Mac NVRAM to boot from the built-in Optical drive physical path.

You don't see this on MSoft's 1st searched for chart hit. This is one reason you will regret not paying for Professional+ if you get Home Premium 64 as I did for Mac Pro early 2008.
Home Prem Task Mgr sees 4 processors vs. the 8 that are seen by Pro+.
Costs more than a Mac upgrade to Lion if you make that mistake.

You don't even need to do that. As downloading the drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant can be unreliable, it is better to get the package directly from here:

Copy the .zip file to a USB flash drive or burn it to a DVD in OS X. Install Windows as normal, insert the flash drive/DVD in Windows, copy the .zip file to the hard drive, extract it, then run the setup executable. -

I am working on a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009) with boot camp running Windows 7 pro 64-bit. Windows crashes quite often now-a-days and I need to get this fixed. I heard that updating boot camp can help. Currently I am running Version 3.0.4 (322).
Only Apple could hamstring and tie Mac OS to Windows. There isn't any other than whether you can download the drivers into Windows (you can) but Apple puts a block on the installer setup even if your mac does not support it.
Windows 7 needs at least Boot Camp 3.1 and 3.3 is what you should already have. And you are not getting security updates if you don't have at least 10.6.8 as was pointed out. --- you arent using Software Update as you should. And you should backup and clone Mac (and Windows) as well.
You need Mountain Lion to use Boot Camp 5.x which supports Windows 7 & 8 and 64-bit.
I would upgrade to Lion if you can realizing that Rosetta and PowerPC are no longer supported though.

How do I use the Boot Camp 5 Support Software I downloaded from the web page?
The download file is a .zip file. Double click it to uncompress it.
Double-click the Boot Camp disk image.
Copy the Boot Camp and "$WinPEDriver$" folders to the root level of a USB flash drive or hard drive that is formatted with the FAT file system (see question below for steps on how to format).
Install Windows, leaving the flash or hard drive attached to the USB port of your Mac.
Installation of the drivers can take a few minutes. Don't interrupt the installation process. A completion dialog box will appear when everything is installed. Click Finish when the dialog appears.
When your system restarts your Windows 8 installation is done.
Note: If the flash drive or hard drive was not attached when you installed Windows and was inserted after restarting into Windows 8, double-click the Boot Camp folder, then locate and double click the "setup.exe" file to start the installation of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software.
How do I format USB media to the FAT file system?
Use Disk Utility to format a disk to use with a Windows computer. Here's how:
Important: Formatting a disk erases all the files on it. Copy any files you want to save to another disk before formatting the disk.
Open Disk Utility.
Select the disk you want to format for use with Windows computers.
Click Erase, and choose one of the following from the Format pop-up menu:
If the size of the disk is 32 GB or less, choose MS-DOS (FAT).
If the size of the disk is over 32 GB, choose ExFAT.
Type a name for the disk. The maximum length is 11 characters.
Click the Erase button and then click Erase again.
Which versions of Windows are supported with Boot Camp 5?
64-bit versions of Windows 8 and Windows 7 are supported using the Boot Camp 5 Support Software. If you need to use a 32-bit version, you need to use Boot Camp 4 Support Software, and you must use Windows 7. 32-bit versions of Windows 8 are not supported via Boot Camp. 2007 MBP 10.7.2 - Boot Camp "Can't Install Windows Support Software"
For a few weeks now I've been trying to get Boot Camp going to install Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro. Whenever I go through the assistant, I always get the message "Can't install Windows Support Software becuase it is not currently available from the Software Update server".
The download bar does progress a bit as data is being downloaded, but then stops at about 15% and gives me that error message. Any ideas?From what I've read the "Download Update" option as you install Lion only works for some MBAirs and it's a hit or miss on all others. (mostly a miss).
You might do a Search on the error you get as there are quite a few discussions on those problems. -

I am getting the error:
"The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition. The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Jounraled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows."
I read up some on google, but all of them says that they have crated a partition and that is the problem, I only have the standard "Macintosh HD".
I tried to create a partition manually in disk utility but then the error message: "Partition failed with error message: Could not unmount disk."
Can anyone help me? It's driving me crazy.

Is it so hard to follow through? you were to have backup already, clones are best, then erase/format and restore.
Then partition.
Some have been able to use Disk Utility booted from OS X DVD or another drive, and repair the drive.
You have to use Boot Camp Assistant (99.9% anyway) to create and achieve a proper Windows Master Boot Record partition. -
Boot Camp users using XP via Boot Camp - Can you install Open Type Fonts?
Have any of the Boot Camp 2.1 users that have been using Windows XP via Boot Camp been able to install Open Type Fonts, i.e. fonts that are sold by Adobe?
I have now tried this on two new MacBook Pros, and I have tried three different retail versions of Windows XP on each system. It just does not work.
I keep getting the "Unable to Install Font" message, which suggests that I contact the font vendor, which I have. I have also tried many different versions of different fonts.
After having investigated with Adobe and Microsoft, and after having reinstalled Windows over 6 times on two different new MacBook Pros, I am starting to believe that this issue affects all new MacBook Pros and/or Boot Camp 2.1 users.

Tried 2 different scenarios. Installed Windows XP, Boot Camp Drivers, Open Type Fonts. Received an not a valid font file when trying to install. Installed Windows XP and then the Open Type Fonts. All fonts registered and accessed by the operating system without the Boot Camp Drivers. Installed the Boot Camp Drivers and checked the fonts, received error messages accessing fonts.
Pretty sure its the Boot Camp Drivers that are causing the problems with Windows and the fonts. Hopefully there is an updat to address this issue. -

Again, no. Boot Camp drivers are NOT available for download. They are only on the OSX disks. (Only the updates are downloadable, not the base Boot Camp drivers.) There is no other way.
As I mentioned previously, you can borrow the disk from someone else. It doesn't have to be the same model, so long as it's Snow Leopard. (AFAIK, Boot Camp 3 drivers are only available on Snow Leopard disks.)
Either you need to find your disks, borrow some one else's, or buy another copy of OSX...period.

One major thing is that since installing Win 7 using BC, my Mac side has become significantly slower. Searching for anything now takes up to 1 min while it was instantaneous before. Opening new programs or new tabs in Safari also caused slight delay. Is this to be expected while having 2 OS?
Boot Camp will not affect OSX, unless you are took up too much space for Windows and didn't leave much for OSX. You should have at least 10% free space on the OSX partition. Anything less can cause OSX to run slow. (Same for the Windows partition: have at least 10% free space.) -

Adobe Acrobat package built with CCP will not completely install. It starts out fine as if it is installing then suddenly disappears with no errors. I am installing it under the local administrator account and simply double clicking on the setup.exe created in the build folder. Am I missing something??

Hello Carolyn - Thank you for your quick response to my concerns, I had already gone to the HP support site and tried to get the latest HP drivers, the site said for Lion 10.7 there was NA version. So, I just used my time machine to replaced the OS from that time spot. I got my printers working again, so all right with the printer. But, the fact remains that I still keep getting the New Update HP Printer in the software update window. But, what happens if I try to download and install it is this: It starts the download, everything seems to come down fine, it starts write the files and then starts moving items into place, the blue bar fills to all most the end and slows down to a stop and never completes the installation. I have left my laptop on over night and it never finishes the operation. I can only force quit the software update. Which has knock out my printer drivers. Now, I just keep unchecking the box in the software updates for new HP printer software. Is anyone else having this problem or is it just my system? Sincerely: Professor G
